The 17 Best Things to Do in Denver

"In the early 20th-century, the Windsor Farm Dairy Building, in what Denverites now called LoDo, used to churn out butter, cheese, and milk, but these days it offers the cream of a different crop as the city’s trendiest new “micro-hood.” Within the space of one compact square block in the shadow of Coors Field, the development includes a hotel, a coworking space, shops, restaurants, bars, and a food hall. Make time to explore the pedestrian-friendly Alley, which slices through the block like a narrow canyon and is lined with unique hangouts, like Blanchard Family Wines and Deviation Distilling, where the Mountain Herb Gin is made with wild-foraged juniper and spruce tips. The Dairy Block is also home to one of the buzziest restaurants in the city, Brutø, which recently picked up both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star. As of early 2024, the live-fire tasting menu spot has been helmed by Top Chef alum and Costa Rica native Byron Gomez." - Megan Barber, Nicholas DeRenzo

Cute spot for photos! Also, pop-ups happen here all the time and little events. Be sure to check out their events page. A little pricey food and drink spots- but, that’s kinda expected for dt!

Google
Here’s a short review for the Dairy Block in Denver: The Dairy Block in Denver is such a gem! The atmosphere is vibrant and fun, with plenty of food options that cater to every craving. I especially loved the playful touch—the Pac-Man and foosball area added a nostalgic and interactive vibe. It’s the perfect spot to hang out, eat, and enjoy some downtime. Highly recommend!

Google
We recently had the pleasure of visiting Dairy Block, and I must say, it's a fantastic place. The array of restaurants, bakery, and dessert options make it a culinary paradise. The building itself is a unique gem, and the atmosphere is simply wonderful. It's definitely a must-visit spot for food enthusiasts and anyone looking for a great ambiance.

Google
I visited Denver this past week and stumbled upon the Dairy Block. This spot is a large alley lit up with lights in the shape of milk bottles. Here you can find local business selling food and drinks. I was there on a somewhat cold night but the heaters lining both sides of the walkway kept the chill at bay. The prices are a bit high but I recommend passing through just to see it.

Google
If it's more than one of you and your party and you can't decide on what to eat. Then the dairy block is a great place to stop and grab a bite. They have everything from Pizza to fish and chips. The service is great and the food was excellent. There are so many different restaurants to choose from

Google
A cute block that always has something new. This week it was sculptures and I absolutely love the food choices. No matter what you feel like eating they’ll have an option. It’s a great place to come and hang out with friends or do homework😜

Google
Great place for shopping and drinks currently have my Lazy Cowgirl artwork on display in the free market there and have loved being part of dairy block!

Yelp
The epitome of the word "hipster." Such a fun location to check out if you're ever in Denver. So many eateries and little shops to explore. We always make it a point to come and walk around the dairy block whenever we find ourselves in Denver.

Yelp
I bounced around this area on a warm fall day. There's plenty of cute independent shops to browse. There's a winery tasting room, a lot of local restaurants and bars. Definitely a cute photogenic spot that is unique to downtown Denver.
google avatar

Yelp
Sat at the bar in the middle and had the tastiest bday espresso martinis! Yum! Fast friendly service to boot! Oh, and the comfiest bar seats- which I find can be hard to find!!
google avatar

Yelp
We took the bus over here and at first, didn't know how to get to the inner area. It's not super big. A few eating spots and small vendors. Pretty cool! It wasn't busy for lunch during the week. No wait anywhere. We went to the Mexican/Native American-inspired restaurant and the ice cream spot. Lots of options for everyone! Bathrooms are in the basement and are clean.

Yelp
Quite enjoyed visiting Dairy Block. Connected to the hotel I was staying in while visiting Denver, Dairy Block has a range of restaurants, bars, bakeries, and shopping. There is a good bit of seating for folks to do work, take meetings, enjoy a cup of coffee, etc. That said, diversity is lacking in this area so it would have been nice to see work from artists of different racial and cultural backgrounds. Nonetheless, it's a cozy stroll and even more so if you want to linger and have a beer or drink.

Yelp
Tucked just outside Denver Milk Market, this quaint little alley way is what Instagram dreams are made of! After hopping around downtown Denver, our group made our way over to take a look around and grab some ice cream for my nephew. Once the goods were secured, we happily noshed on our ice cream in the Dairy Block alley which was filled with cute decor, white string lights and ample seating! When exploring downtown, I'd easily stop here again!

Yelp
I spent $22 on a burrito bowl from Ghost Tortilla. And it wasn't very good. I'm just annoyed with this place. When I visited, I had to order from my phone via Toast. I think I could order from a server too, but I didn't have the time for that. Ok. Whatever. Toast app didn't work. After spending 5 minutes trying to get the QR code to work, I finally started the ordering process only to find that half the toppings on the menu written above the Ghost Tortilla area (I dunno even know what to call it - it isn't a storefront because you can't buy anything there) aren't even on the Toast menu. And even after ordering, the guy making the bowl was asking me about substitutions because he didn't even have the stuff listed on the Toast menu. I made the mistake of getting lettuce and most of my burrito bowl was lettuce. The carne asada was nasty and chewy. I had to spit some of it out. But the ordering process was what I found the most annoying. If quick service ordering is going to be app based, make sure the app matches the restaurant menu. Or at least what the restaurant had available. Plus the Toast website didn't tell me about the CHP thing that Bonanno does. So I tipped 22% on top of the 22% I already tipped through the mandatory CHP thing. Ugh. That's how an overpriced $14 burrito bowl became $22. I have no problem with tipping. Just tell me if I'm already tipping so I don't tip 50% or something crazy like a stalker. I appreciate that people were in here drinking at 2 in the afternoon. My kind of people! And the service was super friendly. At least 2 people asked me if I wanted water to go with my sad burrito bowl. Nevertheless, I think I'll stick to a liquid diet if I come here again. And try to remember the CHP thing.

Yelp
The micro-district contains shops, restaurants, bars, and a hotel. We walked around and checked out the space, but the main reason we came here was to go to Westbound & Down. It is a brewery that won a few awards at The Great American Beer Festival. The alley was a nice place to hang and chill.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the larger food courts I've visited in Denver. One section connects with a hotel, and leads to a marketplace with multiple offerings. The alley has picnic tables and patios with music on the weekends during warmer months. Across the alley are shops and some more dining options. Metered parking available and two garages across the street.
google avatar

Yelp
Dairy Block is one of my favorite sections of Denver! Often confused with Milk Market (which is part of Dairy Block) it feels like a secret getaway within the bustle of Downtown. I first found out about it through the Deviation Distilling Yelp Elite event, and I've been bringing people around ever since, primarily eating at Kachina and drinking at Seven Grand. There's art and music on First Fridays, which I've enjoyed spontaneously. Lots of different options for food and drink overall, many of them spilling out into the alleyway and enticing passerbys with upbeat vibes. Street parking can be a pain depending on the time of day, but Uber/Lyft is a great option. This will always be a solid, 5-star, go-to area for lunch, dinner, and happy hour!
google avatar

Kristi M.

Yelp
Wow oh wow. This is hands down my favorite block in all of Denver! I've been many times for everything from LoDough bakery to Westbound & Down brewery. It's a blast to take a stroll down and check out all the art. There is tons to see. Even if you don't stop in any of the businesses it's a great walk. All the businesses along this block are truly great. 10/10 suggest. The vibes are great!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to walk around for 20 minutes, but nothing more. Most of the rentable areas where closed, not even rented. If you are a day drinker, its a great place to bar hop. If you want a place to hang at night, great place to bar hop. Anything else (i.e., shopping) No good. Great photo opportunity with all the cool art! I just wish there was more to do and look at. You can literally walk the entire corner in minutes.
google avatar

Yelp
I was super excited to see these converted warehouses turned into a space that's filled with art, food and more. And don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible place but there are some drawbacks in addition to the cool spaces. The art is pretty cool. I mean there are a lot of places to take pics and it's super cute. I can see an "influencer" taking a lot of pics here. The space itself is a bit cramped and confusing. The indoor/outdoor aspect isn't played up correctly and getting in and out is weird. There are so many signs saying you need your vaccination card but we didn't have ours on us (forgot it in the hotel room) and no one asked for it. We walked though thinking we'd get something to eat or drink but nothing looked appealing. It was also crowded, but no crowded. Like there are tables in the weirdest places. Pricing is also INSANE. I can't get down with spending so much and not having it delivered to my table for free. No way no how.
google avatar

Kara H.

Yelp
Dairy Block is super cute, if a little small. Meters are free on Sunday for parking, if you're good at parallel parking (I am so not, so if you see someone at a bad angle- mind your business!) We came for the Apres holiday market, which again, is small. Loved the decor, but if you're not already downtown for something, I wouldn't say it is special enough to brave the horrors. Really cute shops, the coffee was good, and the food smelled great. There's a food hall inside, but bring your vax card and id. They had drag bingo going on at one of the restaurants when we came by around noon on a Sunday, and it sounded fun!
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
The Dairy Block is a "micro-district" in Denver's LoDo neighborhood that has restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shops, etc. - many of which are in the Denver Milk Market (16-concept food hall). We stopped by a few weeks when we had a few hours in Denver and enjoyed walking around. We were there in the morning, so not everything was open, but we were able to take in the area, some public art, and a coffee shop! Pretty cool area to check out if you're nearby!

Yelp
Dairy block is so cute. A bunch of different types of food from Italian to fried chicken, pizza and burgers. The back alley has breweries and wine places. And it usually has cute decorations hanging up. We decided to sit in the market. You can order online with the QR code at the table or a waiter comes by. We chose the waiter. He was very nice and answered our questions and brought water over. You can order alcoholic drinks with waiter but not on the app. I got the double burger. Classic tasting and very good. My friend got the chicken sandwich and waffle fries. Small amount of fries for $4 but they were thick and crispy. I got gelato after. The gelato place is expensive with a single being $6 but it's more than just one scoop. They filled my cup pretty good. I liked the pistachio but the other flavors I tried were too icy and sweet.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Cool vibes with a number of businesses that you can bide your time with. There's also some neat decor and artwork displayed. Seating area in the alley is tight, so be prepared for constant movement past your table.

Yelp
The good: This was one of the destinations for my joint bachelor/bachelorette weekend. We came to get drinks and food and we were not disappointed. It's a great gathering spot for big groups because it's a food hall (Denver Milk Market) with tons of different options for everyone's taste. There are outdoor communal picnic areas but also tons of indoor dining spaces. I believe the "block" refers to the outdoor alley space outside of the Milk Market. They play music, there's light and it's a real chill vibe. It is very much Denver-esque. Everything's aesthetically pleasing here and the cocktails here are superb. I'd add this place to my list of "must sees" for foodies and city-goers when visiting Denver. It is ultra trendy and uber hip. Denver is home to many food halls and this is definitely one of the better ones. The bad: It can be difficult to find parking. The interesting: The area was once home to Windsor Dairy.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this hidden little alley with several cute businesses while music is playing and there's plenty of seating and it is very dog friendly too. There even just happened a wedding here!
google avatar

Savannah K.

Yelp
The Dairy Block is such a fun place to go for a quick meal, to catch up with a friend, or even to work/study. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. You order food on your phone from a variety of vendors to your particular table. I went for lunch and the food came out so quick. A lot of great food options--there is something for everyone!
google avatar

Mariah K.

Yelp
Great variety of food and always fun! I've tried the poke, Mexican and Italian. Everything is freshly made.
google avatar

Nicolette T.

Yelp
What a cute little alley way in Denver. We were walking out of the Union Station, and spotted the cute light decorations hanging. We stopped and strolled through the block. It makes for such a cute photo op. It's filled with cute bars & restaurants to check out!
google avatar

Peter Y.

Yelp
Fun place with a variety of food. The loud drag karaoke I could do without on Sunday. Other than that distraction the food was good.
google avatar

Shaeli Z.

Yelp
Love the dairy block! Decent options and good vendors, some diversity, more than other places I've gone. Wouldn't say the portions are worth the price but not bad overall to check out
google avatar

Krystal K.

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation as we are visiting and we are overwhelming underwhelmed and disappointed. It's a cool concept to be able to order from multiple "restaurants" in one spot. They also have grab and go items. My husband got the chicken tenders from lous hot and naked. The entire tray was covered in grease. The chicken was literally dripping in grease. No flavor other than oil. His fries were cold and clearly pre-made frozen fries. I got Ruth's burger from Ruth's butchery. The burger was pretty good overall. I enjoyed the sauce that came in it. The sweet potato tots were okay and also cold. Ticket times were about 30 minutes which was fine since it was very busy. They do charge a convenience/service charge to have someone drop your food off to where you ordered. You pull up the menu and pay on your phone. It was frustrating that there was literally no one to remedy the food being terrible since the only contact you have with a human is someone dropping the food off.
google avatar

Crispina Y.

Yelp
Great recommendation from you tubers when visiting Denver. They really made use of this alley. Trendy and modern decor, very clean. Would recommend stopping by here. Visited on a Sunday and side street parking is free. Right behind the Maven hotel with multiple restaurants to shops. Close proximty to the McGregor's Square and the Coors field.
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
Must go in Denver to walk around Several eateries, huckleberry coffee, a hotel, a bar The outdoor alley has art installations, ice cream and a distillery
google avatar

Lucky S.

Yelp
Cool street lined with photo spots, restaurants, bars and shops. Don't come expecting more than a block of businesses, but if you're in the area, it is super cute to check out.
google avatar

Na L.

Yelp
A cute building with food and drinks from different vendors. We went in the evening on a Tuesday and the inside was already pretty packed. There were a couple empty tables with plates on there so we couldn't sit dow . Opted to sit outside instead. Bring your wipes as the tables are pretty dirty from being outdoors. Once you are seated, scan the QR code to begin your orders. They'll bring out the food and someone will also bring you water and utensils. The whole process is efficient. They have pastas, fried chicken, pizza and some other options too. So there's something for everyone. Once done, don't forget to go to the alley and get some Instagram worthy pictures.
google avatar

Laurence T.

Yelp
Dairy Block is such a pretty place to come to while in Downtown Denver. It reminds me a lot of the alleyways in London that are filled with pubs and bars. The atmosphere here is alive! Lots of places to sit, eat and relax. I recently came here with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon and we enjoyed some hot chocolates and donuts. My experience overall was 5 star, and we all had a fantastic time. One nice thing that I really love about the Dairy Block is the art work and murals they have along all of the walls! Come and check this place out, you won't be disappointed!!
google avatar

Shiao June Y.

Yelp
This is probably the best market hub for food you'll find in Denver- and this is coming from someone who frequents Pikes Place Market in Seattle. There's a lot of seating areas throughout the market which I really enjoyed, however the bar was ridiculously congested with no other way but to order in person (at least made apparent to me). My date had a carne asada burrito from Ghost Tortilla and really enjoyed it. It gave them nostalgia of a burrito they used to have often up in Nederland. As for me, I got Lou's Plus chicken sandwich. It was really great, as the chicken had a buttery taste while still being really light and refreshing. Probably one of the top chicken sandwiches I've had for a bit. I really hate giving places a four star because of traffic, but I also think some of the individual vendors could use some better menus at communicating their dishes. Whether it's difficulty from the host in letting vendors have more readable and descriptive menus, I believe it would make the experience a whole lot better. Also get the dollar truffles at Mano pastaria- you won't regret it! I also know this place gets a lot of criticism for it being super influencer catered, but we all reap with the gorgeous decor and optimal outdoor seating- so let's complain less! Definitely worth a visit. I do wish there will be more dessert vendors someday too!
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
Here's the deal: Lots of choices and has a decent vibe. All that's great. I find it overpriced, but you know, it's downtown so maybe that's the deal. We weren't sure what we wanted and an employee said we could just sit at any table, peruse the online menu and order from there and any restaurant would run our food. So we decided to do that. Our little ordered pancakes (of course) and Hubs had a spicy chicken sandwich. I think both of these came from Lou's. I decided on some fish tacos from the fish place there. There was at least a 22% service charge added to the bill. Nowhere did it state what this was for. Is it in lieu of a tip? Do the restaurants split this? If we'd sat at the counter of Lou's, would we have not paid this charge? A little more information would have been helpful. Hubs loved his sandwich, the little loved her pancakes (though they were very hard to cut with the plastic knife provided), and my tacos were ok. I think we will opt for a regular restaurant next time.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
I absolutely love the use of this alley in Denver. It almost feels like not Denver any more, but somewhere in a quaint town. I love the outside alley and the decor, plaques, and musical pieces. The Market inside is intriguing and one of a kind. My favorites are the wine on tap, gelato, and fresh made pastas which you can also enjoy a hot dish of and then bring some home to cook with another night. Something that really caught my eye is that every individual place in the Market has a different tiled floor including one that is pennies. Look at the details! They're truly different and inspiring!
google avatar

Ruth G.

Yelp
This was a cute concept that had some restaurants you could eat at for a quick bite. It was nice that each table had a specific QR code so you could order at your table and the respective restaurant would know to bring the food to your table. You're able to walk around and scope out each food place before ordering. I tried the fish taco which was surprisingly good. Great place to catch up with friends!
google avatar

Joe Y.

Yelp
The block is still up and coming with very few shops open. Milk market next door has lots of food and drink options but overpriced and nothing stood out as far as food. What I do like is the art work on the walls and in the ground. When you get hungry for some New Mexican tacos on a fry bread, go to Kachina Cantina located right around the corner.
google avatar

Stewart L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place, met a lot of really nice people, it's almost like a big cafeteria for cool kids you can order your food at any vendor and go anywhere and eat it, I can see myself having business meetings here and also bringing more friends to just chill out

Pam D.

Yelp
Several of the stalls were closed. We ordered a pizza and ate it at the bar. Wished we'd known they have happy hour food and drinks at the bar. We would have just done that.

Susan B.

Yelp
Great walk around place. The shoppes are so niche. Getting ready to have a wine at Blanchard Family Wine.
google avatar

Dean P.

Yelp
Really cool are with lots of restaurants and shops . Dig the local art and creativity I'm the area
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in on Sunday for a little drag queen bingo in the beautiful unseasonably warm weather. I love the dairy block! Such cute shops, food options, drink options and little shops. The outdoor space in the alley where bingo was happening was well spaced out and everything felt safe. We ordered food at the table and were able to see the menu, order and pay all through our phones. We went up to the window for bottomless mimosas and got bracelets for easy refills. Bingo was super fun (as always). It had been some time since I had been down there, the alley has really been dressed up with additional lights, tables, art etc.. since the last time I was there. I imagine its a pretty sweet happy hour setting in warm weather. I'll need to check that out!
google avatar

Yelp
I kept hearing about this place and wanting to visit, but just couldn't find the right time to do it. When my best friend and I were deciding where to go, it popped into our heads, and thank goodness for that because this is the most wonderful alley in all of Denver. They have seriously done a phenomenal job. It was beautiful, creative, kitschy. Absolutely amazing to make walking through an alley this much fun! From the elegant hanging winter decorations, to the turnable music stations that play the Colorado Symphony, to the larger-than-life art displays, it is a beautiful walk. Between taking your photo under their mirrored ceiling or wandering into one of the many bars, shops, or restaurants conjoined by this walkway, you can not have a bad time here. I have lived in Denver almost 20 years and when I was walking through this alley I kept thinking how if I didn't live here, something like this would have me begging to move here. I moved out of downtown for the suburbs a year ago, and the city has dramatically changed in that year. This is one of the most pleasant, beautiful, and fun changes, and I am so excited to take advantage of it and visit again!
google avatar

Carolina M.

Yelp
Amazing walk. Nice wines, restaurant, markets ( gelato and homemade pastas) art expo, small shops and also bigger retailers ( beauty counter and Warby parker).
google avatar

Aveeda G.

Yelp
I am loving all of the multi-use spaces all over Denver. One of the cooler ones is The Dairy Block and experience both inside and out. We walked through here right before closing, so unfortunately didn't get to try out much besides a super creative, strong ass drink from one of the bars - but that's another review. Outside though is very much a multi-sensory experience, walk under the string lights and by multiple murals along the alley from 18th to 19th street between Wazee and Blake. Make sure you walk along the step-sensitive light blocks, look for the quotes etched out on hidden corners of the ground, and give a quick crank to the old butter barrels on the walls to experience the lights and hear the music. Such a cool space. I cannot wait to come back and try something from one of the equally hip restaurants and bars inside.
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
I'm not sure what I'm reviewing here, but if it's the actual alleyway outside of the Milk Market, then it gets 5 stars from me! The moment you turn down this alley, you feel transported. Downtown may be bustling, crowded and maybe slightly dirty, but the Dairy Block is everything but. They did an absolutely lovely job creating this space and all the little touches -- the milk bottle string lights, murals, quotes along the paved walkway -- make for a really nice experience as you walk down. My only complaint is that you can no longer take alcohol from the Milk Market into the alley and I swear you used to be able to?!
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
I can't wait to come back and do a real review once Dairy Block has more completed places to visit! But for walking through and seeing all of the updates to the alley and the awesome murals along Dairy Block, I can say that I am a fan and I'm really excited to see it complete. The block is lined with fresh flowers, inspirational quotes, light fixtures - all of the things the big cities have. I am so excited that Denver is becoming a part of the new trends. I did visit the Maven Hotel, Kachina, the cute little shops inside the Maven & Poka Lola. The Maven is SO nice and in a perfect spot for any downtown activity. Kachina looks like a very modern Mexican restaurant with a gorgeous patio, hello summertime margaritas! The history behind where the Dairy Block sits is also very cool. Milk was once pasteurized here back in the day!
google avatar

Cherie C.

Yelp
It's an interesting complex. The hotel is beautiful, and I enjoy the art in the lobby & halls. They seem to be creating a cool mixed-use space that's a nice addition to the neighborhood. Office space, coffee, restaurants, a bar, a fun hotel lobby where you can hang...it's all very stylish. I look forward to the food hall and more fun stuff in the alley.

Yelp
One of the coolest and most versatile places in Denver's LoDo District, a terrific option whether you're there on business, with friends, or on a date. Equidistant from Coors Field and Union Station, this is a huge place that has an incredible amount of options. At least 10 food options, and so varied that it will please any craving or palate. I'm a big fan of the BBQ chicken offering, but also love the poke bowls, fish options, crepes, and pasta. Very cool that you can find a place to sit on your own, hang with friends, or conduct business. There are tables for two, bigger tables, and couches. It's got something for everyone. Moderately priced.
google avatar

Briana W.

Yelp
So first thing is first everyone is wearing a mask and requires you to do the same until you have ordered food and drinks. My experience started off rocky due to staff not being too friendly. We were first timers and really wasn't sure how the place worked until we found a good place to sit and finally got to order. Directions were on the table and we used the scan code to order. After that we really enjoyed our time. My wife went to the bar and ordered wine and a jolly rancher martini. The bartender was awesome and very helpful. The whole joint is a vibe for sure. We sat next to a window and our table were giant letters that spelled "MAR" the "KET" was 6 ft away for another table. I felt safe and comfortable. Now to the food, we ordered from the pizza Italian place. The Cesar salad and the margarita wood fire pizza. Everything was great. The large salad is huge just FYI!! You will be full. I hope you get take the time walk around afterwards and even have another drink outside. We didn't just for time reasons but we plan to come back and try one of the wine bars outside. I totally recommend for a girls night out or to have a drink with a friend/partner. Happy Yelping!

Yelp
I ADORED this market on a recent visit to Denver and as a Philadelphian I can say I have a pretty high standard for this type of venue when comparing it against our beloved Reading Terminal. It's got a great variety of dining options as well as bars to choose from making it the perfect option for a gals night doing a thing we lovingly deem "snacktails" - basically a cocktail and snack bar crawl. Due to this, we tried a lot of what the Market has to offer. We had Bao Chicka Bao, Poka Lola, Kachina Cantina, and the Moo Bar as well as the Stranded Pilgrim for a beer. I will review the individual locations separately but the market having all of this under one roof was incredibly convenient. There is a ton of variety and nothing was a disappointment. Layout was great and the service everywhere was really good. I can't recommend this enough on your next trip to Denver.
