This is my new soft serve ice cream spot! They have a featured flavor every month, and I want to try all of them. September flavor is🍓 Strawberry Swirl, and it's so good. August flavor was 🍊 Orange Swirl, and it was so good as well.

I have been going here for ice- cream since I was a baby! This place is my favorite place to grab some yummy ice cream. The staff is always very quick, even with a big line. Their variety is absolutely amazing and everything on the menu is delicious. This place is the best ice cream place in town! Highly recommend for anyone. Try the twist soft served, personally it’s my fav!

I am a resident of Birmingham for the past 4 years, the are ice cream parlors on each corner of Woodward. My point is that the product is amazing! The best ice cream! It’s very sad to me that the staff never says thank you…. In my experience. In business never get too busy to show customers that you appreciate them.

Amazing! Definitely the most unique flavors, as well as types of treats, that you can get in the area. My specialty sundae came alone with 3 cookies!

Dairy Deluxe is my favorite soft serve on Woodward. I used to be a devotee of the Boston Cooler but ever since they changed the formula of Vernors I have gone back to the upside down banana split.

We've been going to Dairy Deluxe for 30 years. The wonderful taste and high quality haven't changed, nor has the efficient way they serve even very long lines of people. All of the employees are very nice but we especially appreciate the kind, welcoming, funny Chad.

So good!! Got a chocolate soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. Really reasonable pricing, just remember that it's cash only, and they also accept Venmo. Super fast service as well.

Cash only! Sort of a chaotic spot to try to access with the Woodward avenue traffic. Noisey spot at night due to the street cars flying by and revving their engines. Definitely the more popular spot to get ice cream as the line is super long! Can't really eat at a bench, would have to go to car to eat.

I absolutely love this place! They have the BEST frozen yogurt around! I've been coming here since I was a kid and still love the place! The owner knows my whole family! Paul is awesome!! Anyone who lives in the area knows about this place and I'm sure loves it just as much as I do!! It is a super popular spot in the spring and summer especially! They do also offer dairy free. If your in the area stop by a give them some business! You won't be disappointed!!

Umm how have I never been here? I have lived here for ten years and passed this place a million times until tonight. First off, they have so many choices that I didn't even know where to begin. The man was very friendly working. I went with the QT which he said was a good choice and my boyfriend got the butter pecan sundae. The man working said the pecans are from Ohio. His sundae was awesome. The butterscotch was warm and the pecans were amazing. The QT is like a Mexican fried ice cream but not fried. I found a new ice cream place and cannot wait to go back. Also, he mentioned they are open almost year round and only close from around thanksgiving to Feb.

I've been here a gazzilion times! It's so easily located off Woodward Ave in a little hut looking thing! This thing has been around for years & is a local favorite! They have standard flavors of frozen yogurt -vanilla & chocolate and usually have a special flavor of the month/week. The have lots of other things to order: slushes, ice cream, floaties & some of their own specialty ice cream sundaes. it's a cool vibe outside on Woodward enjoying your ice cream. I'm not crazy about frozen yogurt, but when I get it, I get it from here.

As their faces light up, you know it is all worth it. So yeah... it's about a lot more than a twist cone of soft serve. And this is the definitive place to experience it.

Best soft serve ice cream on the planet An incredible Boston Cooler too. I've been patronizing this emporium since I was five years old and can't recommend them too much! Great service and neighborhood atmosphere.

Very fun local soft serve place. They often have unique flavors. Tonight they had lemon. My husband and daughter love the strawberry soft serve. I noticed that they had a bumpy cake flurry (like a blizzard) so I ordered that tonight. It was tasty but crushed into more of an Oreo cookie blizzard consistency. It could've been better if there were recognizable pieces of cake, after all bumpy cake is the best. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for soft serve.

The only ice cream place I go to! Something about a soft serve cone in the summer. The lines can be long but it is always worth the wait! I usually like to go simple but also love their malts and flurries. They have endless toppings and varieties for the flurries! This is a metro Detroit summer must!

This is a super busy place during the warmer weather season. All of the residents from Birmingham seem to come here, as well as some of the residents from Royal Oak too. They have a lot of great ice cream flavors and soft serve ice cream. I get why this place is always busy. It's reasonably priced and you can get cups or cones of whatever flavor you like. There's always a line for ordering and everyone just hangs out by their cars along the parking lot or the street adjacent to the windows. Kids love this place. It always seems like ice cream places like this is I must to hang out for family and friends. It's a happy place, since I have never seen a frown on a person eating an ice cream. My favorite is either the cookie flurry with Oreos or chocolate soft serve.

I have been a patron of Dairy Deluxe since I came out of the womb-- literally. But tonight, everything changed. I waited the requisite twenty minutes in line on a Thursday night at 8:30pm, ordered my usual (a small twist in a cup with sprinkles and oreos), and waited for my order. However, what came out at the window was a complete disgrace. I was handed a cup not much larger than a Dixie cup (the kind one would use for mouthwash). Upon inquiry into this discrepancy, I was told they were out of their regular cups. However, I was not charged less, I was not warned that they were out of the normal cups, and I was not offered compensation despite being given half the amount of ice cream I paid for. This is in addition to the significant Venmo upcharge. I am incredibly disappointed, to say the least. This is not the Birmingham institution I know and love. #MakeDairyDeluxe2008Again

Our go-to soft serve place! The QT is amazing. Like fried ice cream. We've tried the cones, flurries, sundaes, coolers, you name it. I've never had anything bad from here. You have to try it. Even when there's a long line they get through it quickly. The staff is always friendly. Best place in Woodward.

Super nice waitstaff... we ordered twists in a cone, so hard to get wrong, but the ice cream was very good... not too sweet.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, I'm in my 50's now. Best soft serve around and amazing crew. They move the line quickly and are always super friendly. Most nights you can see some pretty cool cars while you enjoy a fabulous treat.

Paul & Chad are the nicest owners and will take care of anything you need. The best ice cream you'll ever taste-stop in, you won't be sorry!

I normally prefer hard packed ice cream to custard, but man is Dairy Deluxe good. This is definitely my favorite custard place in the metro Detroit area. There's typically a line wrapped around the shop, but it moves pretty fast and is definitely worth the small wait. Even something as simple as a sprinkle dipped cone was amazing. Such a good summer treat!

There is nothing better than sitting on the benches at Dairy Deluxe on a hot summer evening, licking an ice cream cone. The atmosphere is always fun, watching the cars drive by and chatting under the fluorescent ice cream sign. If you're from the area, you're bound the run into neighbors and friends. My go to is the simple vanilla cone with sprinkles, but it always satisfies. Throughout the summer they also have different rotating flavors. They're usually best when in a twist with the vanilla. I love the orange cremesicle and boysenberry, which is unique. When I'm feeling like something special, I also love the Reece's flurry, but it seems like the flurries get a bit more expensive every year. Great spot right on Woodward, a must on a nice Michigan summer night.

Best soft serve in the Birmingham area. The staff is always supper friendly. If you have not been here yet or are visiting from out of town this is a must stop.

Ordered an oreo flurry that was delivered fast and was delicious! The only reason I give it a 4 star is because it's cash only.

My family has been coming to Dairy Deluxe since I was just a kid. A great local business with generous portion sizes (believe it or not this is only a medium!) prices are right and it feels great to support a long standing member of the community. There's something on the menu for everyone from icecream, to floats, to dairy free options, to pup treats for your pets. The establishment is a walk up window that's cash only, but thankfully there's a bank next door! Used to be a water fountain, but haven't seen it recently. Opened now despite COVID. Hope to be back again on a hot summer day.

If I could go to Dairy Deluxe every day, I would. They honestly have the best ice cream and a wider menu variety than Dairy Queen. I brought my family there on a whim and we're so happy we found it! It also helps that they're super small and local. It's always great to see them thriving!

What the heck took me so long to try this place? I clearly was missing out on their tasty soft serve. I tried their flavor of the day which was soft serve fresh berry twisted with vanilla and dipped in chocolate, holy yummy! I can't wait to come back again. Keep in mind it's cash only but they are super cheap so chances are you have enough change in your car to cover a cone.

Love the ice cream and been a favorite since I was a child! They open the earliest in the year for ice cream season and stay open longer in the year (which is awesome when you're someone who has swim practice in the fall and winter and can always go for an after practice cone) Paul and his kids that own and run the shop are awesome and the nicest people ever! Had my first job here and it was so much fun even working the dream cruise chaos (((for those of you looking to work here my only warning is that it's difficult to fit in if you're not white and don't go to seaholm groves or marian, high school girls can be mean)))

First time coming here. Cash only - but lots of yummy options! I got a basic small twist in a cup with sprinkles and it was a little over $2.00, not bad and it was great. My friend got a banana split in a cup and it had bananas, strawberries, and pineapple - looked yummy and refreshing! Parking is a bit awkward since it is right on Woodward but nothing that is not manageable. Definitely cannot wait to go back to try something else!

I was in town for the weekend and had just finished breakfast in downtown Birmingham. So I Yelped an ice cream place. I am so happy that I found this place. I can honestly say that this was the best ice cream mix I've ever had. It's not because their soft serve is the best, it's all the same. It's their unique mixes. My daughter got the Lucky Charms flurry. It's like a creamy version of cereal and milk. For me, I got the Madison. BUT, I asked them to add salted caramel. I was in heaven! It was the best mix I've ever had. It was like a turtle ice cream. The pretzels, peanut butter, and caramel mix was so good. Hope to come again when I'm in Michigan. Cash only, which is a little annoying, but when I put the place in google maps, it said "cash only" right under it. So that helped us prepare.

Dairy Deluxe has great ice cream, great owners, and great staff. It opens in February and closes in November and staple of Birmingham

I've been going to dairy deluxe for the last 25 years and have always had a great experience. Ice cream is good and the menu is vast. Workers are always fast and friendly. It's cash only though, so come prepared. There is an ATM next door though if you need.

There is nothing about this soft serve place to complain about, except probably its popularity! You can not go wrong here. Simple cones to a dizzying array of slushes, malts, shakes, sundaes and a dog bowl. I would have written this moons ago but I didn't need to. The place is that iconic. It is CASH only, but raiding your change jar at home is easy enough it doesn't take a lot. Serving sizes are small, big and too big, really. So aside from all of that they are really good citizens who run it and those that partake. I was dumb enough to leave my phone on the bench and my find the phone app worked to tell me it hadn't walked away. So kudos to those that found it and turned it in and thanks to the workers who held on to it till I could retrieve it. The place is more than just ice cream.

Yum yum yum. Can't go wrong with a small local ice cream place like this! The only downside to this particular place is it's cash only. Make sure you have some cash on you and go enjoy tasty ice cream!

Love this ice cream spot! I have been here a few times and it never disappoints. It is centrally located and a perfect place to go, after a dinner in Birmingham or Royal Oak, mainly on a warm summer day. They have many different options and combinations to chose from. I usually get chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone or a cup of chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream with cinnamon toast crunch. Overall, a good place to get ice cream.

Every winter I look for the opening date for this shop and the countdown begins. I eat ice cream in February if they are open, I don't care. This is one of my favorite stops since my childhood. I really love the ice cream sundaes. My particular favorite is the black forest or turtle sundae. The blizzards are also amazing. I might go so far as to say it's the world's greatest soft serve. I was disappointed when they switched from fudgy fudge to syrupy fudge and increased their prices .50. But this place still churns out the goodness every spring and summer.

6/5 stars. This place hit the spot at just the right time. Went on a Saturday night. Was very busy, but can still find parking easily nearby. Great location to watch the cars going by on Woodward! The soft serve was phenomonal!! Chocolate soft serve dipped in Chocolate topped with Crunched Almonds was $3.25. So so good!!! Great place to go esp on a warm fri or sat eve.

I worked down the street from here and a customer came in and I told them that their ice cream looked delicious. The family surprisingly came back when ice cream for me and told me it was their favorite place. I went there and tried their s'mores sundae my mind was blown it didn't taste artificial. I took my wife their and it's now the only ice shop we go to them we found out they close for the winter but it's fine it just makes us look forward to the summer even more. If you haven't try the s'mores & apple pie that's our favorites. If you're a car person as well you see some sweet rides while waiting for your treat!

Love this soft serve ship! Upside down Banana split is the best! I grew up in the area and every time I come home, I make sure to visit!

I never really gave Dairy Deluxe a shot, which I now regret. I would always pass it by and say, "Maybe on another day". But holy cow, now I have a reason to not always pass it by. I've only been here twice, and it's one of my favorite soft serve ice cream places now. I got their chocolate shake, and it was really rich and creamy. I have also gotten a twist here, which is comparable to Erma's imho. Nice place on Woodward.

One of the best little yogurt/ice cream shops around town. Always come here for a long walk from our house. It's a great spot that is always busy, but worth the small line. My favorite is the strawberry yogurt, it's only available on select days. But, always a nice treat. A medium is very large here and more than enough for 1 person. I would recommend coming here. cash Only !
