Nicole Byer, Host of Netflix’s ‘Nailed It,’ Reveals Her Favorite Foods | Eater

"A source of nostalgic ice-cream indulgence for her, especially the Peanut Buster Parfait — layered fudge, vanilla ice cream, and peanuts — which she customizes by adding peanut butter cups." - Greg Morabito

America’s Fast-Food Desserts, Ranked | Eater

"Known for making a trip specifically for the Blizzard, this menu’s signature frozen-mix treat is the chain’s raison d’être; other dessert offerings can be hit-or-miss, but a deep-fried cake item tested as non-rancid and acceptable despite being served lukewarm under a heat lamp." - Daniela Galarza

Google
I used to enjoy this Dairy Queen when the new management first took over the food was good, and the service was solid. But my most recent experience was completely unacceptable. I placed and paid for a mobile order through the DQ app. When I arrived, I was told my order “wasn’t in their system,” and the employee made it seem like I was trying to get free food, even after I showed proof of payment. I felt profiled and disrespected. Instead of trying to help, I was told to “call corporate on Monday.” I actually contacted corporate the same day. They verified my order and resent it. When I returned to the store, the employee claimed they would “make it fresh.” That was another lie the food was cold, the bread was hard, and the chicken strips were overcooked. This location has gone downhill fast. Being treated like a scammer and then served poor-quality food is beyond frustrating. I won’t be returning unless management seriously improves their customer service and food standards.

Google
I visited this Dairy Queen today around 2:30 PM after placing and paying for my order through the app. When I went through the drive-thru to pick it up, the employee at the window said she couldn’t find my order. I showed her the confirmation and proof of payment directly from the app. Instead of helping or trying to look deeper into the issue, she questioned us by asking if we were even at the right location — speaking to us as if we were ignorant — and then told us she “can’t just give us free food.” The food was not free; we had already paid for it. The way she treated me and my sister felt dismissive, unprofessional, and discriminatory. Rather than offering any real assistance, she told us the only thing we could do was call corporate on Monday and figure it out ourselves. No apology, no attempt to check the system, nothing. We ended up calling corporate right then, and they immediately found the payment and pushed the order through. By the time everything was finally resolved and we got our food, it was 3:30 PM — a full hour after we first arrived. When we returned to pick up the order, the employee claimed everything was made fresh. That was not true. The bread was hard, the chicken strips were cold, and the fries were cold as well. After already dealing with an hour-long ordeal, being given low-quality food with no acknowledgment or apology made the situation even worse. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. From being dismissed at the window, to being spoken to disrespectfully, to feeling racially profiled, to waiting an hour, to finally receiving cold food — every part of this visit was unacceptable. We will not be returning to this location again. Update "Claiming we hadn’t paid while being rude proves how terrible service has gotten under this new management. An hour-long wait and cold food say it all.” According to corporate, our payment was already received. New management is the problem here.”

Google
The s'mores blizzard I ordered tasted great but it took forever to get it. I think it would've been faster if they employed a bunch of grandmas from the nursing homes. One of the employees, it might be the manager but I'm not sure, seemed to be in a bad mood, like her dog got hit by a truck or something. The bathrooms looked like crap too. I like Dairy Queens but this one just plain sucks.

Craigslist S.

Google
Sat at the ordering speaker for over 5min. Pulled up to the window and saw a younger blonde girl chatting with another woman in the dining room. The blonde working the window said she didn’t know anyone was at the speaker, but also had just finished telling the person who was waiting in line behind us that she would be right with them. It was obvious she was ignoring it and hoping customers would leave. We tried to order fries 45 mins before closing, and were told the manager said the fryers were shut down so they could get off at 6. We were able to order a blizzard though. Stopped by after seeing the location was under new ownership. Unfortunately it’s the same bs as before, except now with limited hours. I won’t be back.

M R.

Google
This location is under a new owner. They are renovating so the lobby is closed. You order via the drive thru. Sarah has been friendly both times during our recent visit. The guy cooked our food fresh. It was delicious 😋 If you go during a busy time you may have to wait in the drive thru line. It's worth the wait.

Google
I’ve stopped in a few times a year since moving to Jax in 2020, and each time I say I’m not going back. Their service consistently sucks. Their employees over the years (along with today) are so rude and slow. I can deal with slow - but it hasn’t mattered when I come at what time of day, this place just seems to hire people who are rude with zero customer service skills.

Google
If Dairy Queen had a crown, Jackson would be wearing it—sparkles and all. He’s the gay Santa Claus of Blizzards, jolly, cheerful, and somehow makes ordering ice cream feel like a red-carpet event. Jackson didn’t just hand me a cone; he handed me joy, sass, and sprinkles of pure happiness. Honestly, Dairy Queen should rename itself “Jackson’s Palace of Soft Serve,” because he runs the vibe. If you’re having a bad day, just let Jackson serve you a Blizzard—you’ll leave feeling like royalty. 👑

Khaled K.

Google
That store had only one employee taking order, cashing and preparing the order. So the line was long. Price of Peanut Buster is close to $10 ? A pup cup is$1.49+ tax. Wow.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
My sister and I went there the other day, just for 2 dipped cones and the window lady was in such a hurry to tell us the blizzard machine was down apparently didn't hear? For sure she wasn't listening cause she was talking so fast! No wonder they ALWAYS have help wanted! Then did get my receipt so didn't get my points, why bother? Top it off we got chocolate cones and I've never ask for that.

Rocco V.

Yelp
We went to go get blizzards and there was nobody there. It was a friday at 7:30. And they said they were open and all of the lights were on. Disappointing.

Aleshia K.

Yelp
I went into the store a couple of months ago. I went straight to the bathroom. When I pushed open the LADIES bathroom door open I was met by a young MALE that was wearing a DQ shirt. He did NOT say anything to me, he looked directly at me and pushed the door closed so I could not come in, he didn't say why! It was so bizarre. I turned around and left!

Yelp
On the way back to our hotel, we realized we had a taste for some ice cream after enjoying a delicious brunch. We wanted to visit a "local" ice cream establishment but realized the one we wanted to visit didn't open until later in the day. So we decided to stop by a Dairy Queen that we passed earlier (drive-thru). Our cold treats hit the spot! LOL! My mom ordered a banana split, my sister had a heath and brownie cupfection, my daughter had a brownie and oreo cupfection, and I had a mini oreo blizzard. One can hardly go wrong with a nice cold treat on a hot sunny day. :o)

Yelp
Make sure the food is hot and the full order is in the box! Be considerate of your customers. This is what puts restaurants out of business.

Yelp
First off I'd give a ZERO star rating if that was possible! My husband and I just walked over to get some ice cream for the three of us (us and our son) and one order of chicken strips. I'll start with saying the place was dead inside with only a grandpa and his granddaughters inside at a table. The drive thru had 3 cars in it......We ordered at 723pm with Wyatt. We got one blizzard within 6 minutes, our second one at 12 minutes, the third one at 17 minutes, and the chicken strips at 19 minutes (742 pm), so clearly the first two blizzards were melting especially the very first one - being closer to soup on the upper half. When we asked about our food and the last blizzard showing how much the first two were melting, the comment from a girl in the back was that next time we need to request our ice cream/blizzards be done last. We said how would we even know to do that - thinking everything would come out together as it should? She ignored the question and walked away. While we were standing there a lady came in - waiting for someone to acknowledge her and take her order. NO ONE DID. She waited for several minutes and there were 5 people we counted in the back with 3 of them going back and forth from front to back. She ended up leaving and we saw her get in her car and drive around through the drive thru. (when we were walking out she was still waiting in the drive thru).... We ordered and an older gentleman ordered a few minutes after us. He did not get ice cream only food. He got his food at the same time as us. The entire time we stood there waiting - no one was friendly...Wyatt was most concerned about when he was going to take his break. The place was very dirty! I wish either of us had brought our phone with us for pictures. A health inspector needs to go in there, as well as everyone being fired and the entire new staff hired and properly trained in customer service, food handling, restaurant etiquette, and cleanliness. My husband and I have both worked in the food industry for decades, we know how service should be. This place is an abomination to Jacksonville Beach and to the historic name of Dairy Queen. Our receipt number 45 and Order#AACZZME6ACBL Signed - disgusted long time customers of the Dairy Queen brand but never again to this location!!!! Should be ashamed to call themselves Dairy Queen.....

Yelp
I went here twice. The first time was a good experience. There was a tall girl behind the counter with ice cream all over her clothes. She was working very hard and dealt with it well. I had a small vanilla in a cup, which was tasty and refreshing. On the second day, I stood there for five minutes while not one person said a word to me (different employees). I'm big on service and there was none, hence the three stars. I walked out (no ice cream). This made me sad.

Yelp
I had a chicken strips and it felt hard, kinda of dry. It looked like the chicken it was old. My husband went to ask for our Sunday and one of the cashiers ( pink/blue hair dyed) said to my husband " what?). Not a great customer service. also that same cashier was walking abnormal. She was also sitting down on one of the tables with her body laying down. Their buffalo sauce was expired. I'm praying I don't get stomach ache. I'm not coming back. It's embarrassing to have this restaurant at the beaches.

jamie c.

Yelp
I honestly can't give a review of food and service, due to the fact the stench of what seems like spoiled dairy or other offensive order was so bad we walked out immediately.
google avatar

Stacy T.

Yelp
This could possibly be the very worst run Dairy Queen in the country. between the lack of availability of product and the indifference of the service staff, I can't imagine anyone wanting to go here..
google avatar

Krys G.

Yelp
Nice to see a line up around the building. Cars being patient waiting their turns showing support during this pandemic. Staff were friendly and wore masks. No gloves. Ice cream was delicious as usual.
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
I do not understand how an ice cream shop can we so hot inside. It's super uncomfortable to even sit in their establishment. My car AC kicks better even with the engine not running.

Jacob M.

Yelp
Place is a disaster. Need a whole revamp. Used to be a good spot as a kid/teenager. Haven't had a good meal/ice cream here in 10+ years. Prob not giving them another chance after this last one. It literally looks like melted whip cream and tastes like cool whip. She never even flipped the blizzard cause the damn thing would've spilled out like milk. It's supposed to be a "caramel fudge cheesecake" blizzard. Check the photo for yourself. It's a literal vanilla w what looks like maybe bits of chocolate? Like how is it hard to make a blizzard, the thing DQ is known most for, correctly?

Mikayla V.

Yelp
Beyond awful rude ass staff and got the order wrong. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Since I need 85 characters
google avatar

Yelp
We arrived 4-12-24 at 7:45 PM, all doors were locked with many people inside. about 4 cars of customers parked and walked to the doors unable to get in when the sign said it was supposed to be open until 8PM. Many people got frustrated and left. We decided to get into the drive though line. We ordered and I video recorded the server telling us they close walk in at 8pm and I asked him if it was 8pm yet on his clock and he said no. He then said they closed early because they only had 30 people come in today - again this is on video and what the hek does that have to do with staying open. So I said I have a coupon from the ap , and he said they would only take it if it scans, what type of comment is that. Why wouldnt it scan. we ordered and get to the payment window and the very rude lady said she did not have time to help with the AP and that the coupon takes a minute to download and that we could not wait there at the window and wanted us to pay the full price. What type of scam is going on here , so she would rather throw out two blizzards rather than key in the coupon or ask the manager for help and she was NASTY to us about it. We left and went around the corner to Gator Ice Cream a mom and pop who appreciate the business. and was serving with a smile. We suggest people avoide the dirty unfriendly DQ at the beach and go to the clean and friendly Gator one block over.
google avatar

Taylor A.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. And for years I have only had one complaint. The big guy managing at night. Always makes you feel like you are unwanted and as if your asking for anything like using a coupon or the needing something extra like napkins. Today he dropped one of my two blizzards and while only a small amount of ice cream spilt out I was given the most whatever sorry. Then when I asked for another cup for me to split one of the two blizzards with my 4 year old (of my more than $20 order) the absolute clown told me it was ¢27. I had half the mind to ask for a water cup but quite honestly, I just don't want to deal with such awful service. Hope the owner sees this.
google avatar

Scott K.

Yelp
Still the worst DQ open for business. Think I have finally learned my lesson. Just awful. No Blizzard test and now I know why. The Blizzard was more like cereal. I think it sat around for a while before they served it. This place needs new owners/management.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
This is an average dairy queen. The inside is a bit dirty. They do have 10% military discount. They do have a free dog ice cream if your dog is with you.

Jenna H.

Yelp
I ordered 2 blizzards on the app. The only option for pickup was "pickup inside." I drove to the location and parked my car. There was a big sign on the door that said "drive thru only" The drive thru line was out to the street. I called the restaurant to tell them I was canceling my order because I had placed it for pick up, and I was not going to wait in the drive-thru line. When I finally got through on the phone, the employee told me I could come inside the building, but I was long gone and already eating a Jeremiah's ice. The employee said she could not refund my money but her manager would. Of course this never happened. There are too many other dessert places at the beach to waste your time here.

Jami R.

Yelp
Just an FYI, I walked in and there was a man eating a meal with a small dog on the table. (Sunday October 9 @ 6:30 pm) I won't be back
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
We went there the other night around 8pm...there was definitely something wrong with the ice cream. We got some vanilla cones and a blizzard. Basically everything tasted like drippy, frostbitten whipped cream...so nasty! None of us could even eat it, what a waste of money!

Joseph M.

Yelp
Food was an absolute disaster. The Lady working had zero respect for my family and totally forgot about my medium Cotton Candy Blizzard!!! Took about 15 minutes for our food and took other peers around 20. I do not recommend this establishment and hope others find peace and happiness within themselves at this Dairy Queen.
google avatar

Crystal O.

Yelp
Long time local Dairy Queen. My father-in-law used to go here when he was in high school! My visits have been hit or miss. Dining area isn't cleaned often enough. They always seem short staffed, but they did fine today. It got busy right after we got our order.
google avatar

April L.

Yelp
I go here often for dessert with my husband. It's a great grab and go at the beach. I love the cake cones with vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. I've also tried their Sundaes with pineapple and strawberries. The prices are good and the employees are friendly.

Oakley B.

Yelp
absolutely disappointed in this establishment. I have always loved Dairy Queen and they really disappointed with this Florida location not only did we have to wait for our food because they handed it to another person. They were rude and the food was out after a 15 minute wait it was cold from the french fries to the burgers to everything else we got. after a long day of traveling it was really upsetting to not get fresh food. we did ask for refund and they said no and to bring the food back. I did not bring the food back because I don't trust them. they will spit in our food, after we had pulled off to receive our food after they handed it to someone else we happen to catch a view of a worker hitting some type of vapor in a corner pacing back-and-forth, taking orders and not even looking at the screen looking at us and hitting his vapor. we saw multiple workers, lacking and acting as if they were on drugs. The Dairy Queen did not have their posted time closing at 8 PM, but they had the doors locked and the tables put away.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Service was excellent. My sundae was great! The bathroom smelled bad. This location could use an update/facelift. I would go back.
google avatar

Ernesto M.

Yelp
Ordered a banana split and had almost no toppings at all. I asked the guy at the counter to please p7t toppings and said they woud have to charge me insisting they only put a little bit The toppings were not enough to eat the ice cream with them Would not go back to this dairy queen, obviously they do not care about their customers
google avatar

Jeanne M.

Yelp
I went to DQ on Saturday, June 15th around 5pm for a chocolate malt. Three hours later I was violently ill! Food poisoning and it was absolutely horrible! I almost called for an ambulance I was so violently ill. I tried to call DQ lather than evening to just to give them a heads up and let them know apparently something they used to prepare the malt was spoiled or tainted. The phone rang 50 times at least and never did any one pick up!! I will NEVER EVER go to this location again nor any DQ!
google avatar

Lizzy B.

Yelp
came here the other night and the lady who took my order was blatantly rude. I came around 40 minutes before they closed so as someone who works in the food industry I understand it can be annoying sometimes... but 40 minutes is plenty of time to make something. I asked for a bacon cheeseburger and before I even finished my sentence she cut me off to tell me that it would take 8 minutes, and that they close at 10. Just getting off work, and stopping there to get food for other people as well I said that's fine. I then went to order a blizzard and before I could even tell her what type of blizzard it was she cut me off again saying "we don't have any" very snappy. I wasn't expecting them to not be able to make a simple blizzard so I asked her what they have closest to what I asked for and she said "nothing?" Once again... in a very disrespectful tone. I was in such shock with how I was being talked to that I told her to forget it and drove off. I get fast food industry can be stressful.. but seriously.. you're getting paid to take people's orders.. you can't have a little bit of respect? Not sure what her name was, usually when I go after work there's a man working whos much nicer. But because of this incident they won't be seeing me again. Very disappointed.

Becky S.

Yelp
Why is it so hot in there? There is no way the food can be kept at the right temperature. When I went into order a cake for my son's birthday. The manager seemed annoyed. That I was ordering a cake and rudely asked the guy taking my order when I wanted it. I should have just left but it is my son's birthday and this is where he wanted to get his cake. I ordered the cake and requested to pick it up 4 days later. When my husband went in to pick up the cake at the time I specified they didn't have the cake. They found the order but no one made the cake. Why? Did they just not feel like it? Did they forget? They offered to give us one of their already made cakes but they had flavors my son doesn't care for. So now I can't order another custom cake at the last minute. So not only do I have figure out what to do now. I have to tell my son that he is not getting the cake he wanted. Thanks Dairy Queen for disappointing a kid on his Birthday!
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
Of course good for quick dessert...Jacksonville beach location kinda slow, and I have been asked to pull and wait for my order a few times...usually because they are "making it fresh". Well I usually get a blizzard if I want a quick sweet treat but last time I tried the new 'bakes'. I got the brownie bake which was warm and gooey and paired with ice cream and whipped cream. It was a nice change from your typical frozen selection.
google avatar

Lota M.

Yelp
Just ordered a cheeseburger! No cheese on burger! Had two beef patties on it that was dried and tough as shoe leather! No flavor! Worst burger ever! Never again!
google avatar

Evan J.

Yelp
I ordered vanilla ice cream and I payed for the ice cream. Then the young lady says the vanilla isn't working.. like you couldn't have told me that before I payed... not only did she not offer me a refund but she gives me a dilly bar which isn't even the same price. Worst Dairy Queen experience.
google avatar

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Went to grab late night dinner with my best friend and I've never had service as amazing then Felicia gave us. She was polite and amusing. She definitely deserves a raise. I'm just saying! Amazing employee! Thank you Felicia!!

T C.

Yelp
We ordered a large blizzard, a medium blizzard, and a brownie sundae thing. When we got our order the one that was supposed to be large was a medium. The guy at the window claimed we said medium and that he repeated the order back to us and we confirmed it, none of which happened. To make matters worse he appeared to be the manager and instead of fixing it he huffed off to "make a large," dumped the medium into a large cup, added some vanilla ice cream, and mixed it slightly so there was less chocolate and brownie than there should have been. There was no customer service number on the receipt, nor was there an itemized list of our order. Overall it was a very disappointing and frustrating DQ experience.
google avatar

Crystal S.

Yelp
Had a really bad experience at this DQ location after deciding to give it one last shot. The kid behind the counter gave my order to someone else and then tried to say that I already had mine. I called the owner of the place and he literally said he had a "5 Star Rating on YELP" so he wasn't concerned with what I thought. 5 Star huh? LOL. It's gotten worse since my last visit. Just waiting for the Health Dept to shut this hole down.
google avatar

Ann Marie K.

Yelp
I will first rate myself as a 1 Star for being so stupid to even attempt the eat there. I will also give myself another 1 Star for not walking out when 3+ flies were buzzing around the register. When the only female toilet in the place was broken I continued on this journey of nastiness so got what I deserved. I feel I am as much to blame as they are for such a bad review, sorry DQ but your days have come and gone along with your ability to produce decent food and a clean environment.
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Stopped by this afternoon with my daughter, and immediately wanted to turn around and walk out. The dining area was so hot I am surprised the ice cream didn't melt. Immediately when I walked in it was like I walked into a PortAJohn instead of a Dairy Queen. The smell was horrendous and couldn't wait to get outside and breathe some fresh air. The things Dads do for their daughters, but rest assured I will NEVER eat there again.

John L.

Yelp
I'm at the drive-thru right now. Literally waiting 30 minutes at the drive-thru. These employees are slow as molasses. And they won't even open up the dining area. I think the reason a lot of these folks aren't opening up the dining area is they're using covid as an excuse. That way they don't have to clean up at the end of their shift. This dairy Queen sucks. I'll never go back.
google avatar

C. Anne B.

Yelp
First the man taking my order insisted I was wrong for calling Dairy Queen Dairy Queen instead of ice cream. Then, they wouldn't put as cover on the Blizzard so I could carry it home without it dripping everywhere. Terrible.

Doug K.

Yelp
Verrrry slowwwww. Easily a 20 minute wait in the drive thru both times I have been here. If you desire DQ desserts do yourself a favor and spend the time driving to another DQ location. You will save time in the end.
google avatar

Danielle K.

Yelp
The ice cream is a classic. The "service" is a disaster. Food is subpar. If it isn't frozen, don't bother ordering it.
google avatar

Jenni A.

Yelp
First disappointment from this place. My Oreo cheesequake had a sliver of Oreo inside. I might as well have paid for a vanilla blizzard!!
google avatar

Terah B.

Yelp
There is no excuse for this location. There were 2 other people in the place besides us and we were completely ignored by the workers. Some blonde girl behind the counter was flirting with some old guy down on one end and the young guy was playing with the chocolate syrup. When I asked for a manager, they looked like deer in the headlights and still said nothing to us. I called the owner of this dump and his response was basically "we have great reviews"... umm.. guess he's never visited YELP.

Rebecca V.

Yelp
I wish I could select negative stars..... Took forever, forgot gravy, the toast was folded and half the normal size. The gravy had large clumps...they put the gravy container in the microwave, which melted the lid. The worst DQ I have ever been to.
google avatar

Kyle T.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Went through the drive thru, the service was terrible, the lady taking my order had zero personality and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by being there. They were out of all sprinkles (it's an ice cream place, out of sprinkles? Really?). I was told by "we don't have sprinkles" and that's it. No customer service oriented response. My simple, two ice cream order came out wrong. The cherry dip was comparable to candle wax. I will not be headed back. Much better places in Jax Beach ice cream wise, and almost anywhere will have better service.
google avatar

Jerrica A.

Yelp
I always have low expectations when I choose fast food but this dairy queen location has hit an ultimate low. Absolutely disgusting. Terrible service and the worst fast food I've ever had.

Gail M.

Yelp
7:30 pm - Using coupons for $1 small cones with dipped topping. The manager said we both needed to displayed our coupons. We did this first with the service person and then with a manager. We were told it would be $4 plus tax. I pointed out that 1+1 = 2, not 4. They corrected the amount. While we waited I tried to use the women's restroom. I reported it's unusable condition to the manager. He said, "we will get to it". My companion asked for a cup for his cone. The manager said we will have to charge you for that. They charged us $.50 for a plastic cup. We were afraid to ask for a spoon and be charged another $.50. The staff was not trained on how to take coupons which they advertise specials. I felt as if we were being penalized for their being busy. And the attitude in which we were treated by the "manager" was uncalled for. As we were leaving we noticed the marquee outside said hiring managers. I'm not sure that different managers will solve their problems. Shame on them!

Yelp
This is my favorite hamburger place in Jacksonville Beach. I love the burgers here. Like any fast food chain it has its ups and downs but the good food makes it worth it. Sometimes it is crowded here sometimes it is not but the main constant is the good food and fun environment.
