While waiting to check into our hotel across the street, we decided to grab something to eat at Daisy Mae's. We apparently arrived in town on the wrong day, because not only was it a Sunday and brunch time, but the city was jam packed with fans for the LSU vs. FSU game, so the line was out the door and down the street. We probably waited a good hour before finally being seated. *Le' Sigh*
The inside is small and a no thrills restaurant. I decided to order the chicken tenders and waffles. Our food took a while to arrive, but when it did, it was pipping hot! The chicken was crispy, crunch, and seasoned pretty well. The waffle was flavorful! My niece ordered the same as me, with the exception of getting chicken parts instead of tenders. She received a breast, leg and wing. The breast was literally as big as her head! So our food portions were definitely plentiful.
Service was far, few, and between. Was the hour long wait worth the food - umm, probably not, but we were starving and ALL of the restaurants nearby were crowded for the reasons I explained earlier. Is this an authentic soul food restaurant, I highly doubt it. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but I've had better. Good option in a pinch!
