Chef Cameron Lee Dunlap Will Open a Restaurant Dedicated to Foraged and Wild Foods | Eater Portland

"Johnny Nunn plans to relocate Verdigris into his Daisy Cafe space, and because that site is already built out as a restaurant, Morchella’s move into the Fremont dining room won’t require much renovation." - Alex Frane

Nosiest diner in town! We loved this place. No much space, but made up for it with great food and great service. You can’t beat the prices or the fact that the owner is still serving tables. Felt like a hallmark movie scene.

Met Daisy and she is a hard worker. She really did a great job with things really busy. The kitchen help got a bit loud with some “F” bombs. Wasn’t a good atmosphere for my 6 year old. Other than the kitchen help comment, I would recommend this place as the food was done well and priced right.

The only place that seems to not be affected by pandemic. $6 for a whole plate of food. $1.50 for bottomless coffee. Service was excellent. Food came out quick and cooked properly. Also I would like to add that I have celiac disease and this place did not upset my stomach at all. Highly recommend this place to enjoy a great breakfast in a small town atmosphere for an amazing price.

This is the best place to go to. Environment is amazing. The people are amazing. Daisy is just an amazing sweetest person ever. Read very reasonably priced food. I would 100% recommend.

Service is quick & kinda friendly. Coffee is good. Eggs cooked the way I like. Bacon crunchy but tasted a little funny. Overall cleanliness of the place was about a 3 out 5.

This was our first time here and it was so good. Grandmas cooking, good atmosphere, and very nice locals. Family place❤

Overall ok, very low budget business. I prefer my food not to touch so although I was ordering the most expensive item on the breakfast menu ($6.95) when I asked to have my gravy on the side rather than smothering my food, I was met with an obviously annoyed waitress who proceeded to tell me it was peppered gravy not sausage gray, although there is sausage gravy on the menu. She then said if I didn't want the gravy on my food I could order something else. Needless to say I was less than impressed. The food was ok, nothing I will need to have again. Strike out for the small business in Newark.

Yelp
Tiny little diner place with no-frills breakfast and lunch options. My folks and I stopped in for our first visit last week. The place is tiny--no more than 10 tables. We took a seat and discovered our table was pretty wet. Not sure why. The server saw it, wiped most of it off, and we ordered. Two of us got a small western omelet, and one of us got a special breakfast, which was for a very small appetite. The food came pretty quickly and our portions for the small omelet were actually quite large. Everything tasted as one might expect, so no highs or lows in my food review. If you're looking for a greasy spoon-type diner with standard breakfast fare, this is a fine place. It reminds me of somewhere grandpas would get together once a week. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it.

Yelp
this place had no good options at all. It smelled like musty which made me sick to my stomach. there is people who like this place but i'm not a fan. The workers were very nice but i just think there is better places in newark to eat.

Yelp
Quaint but nice family restaurant. Serves breakfast or lunch only. 3 of us had breakfast with coffee n OJ. Eggs : scrambled, over easy n over medium. All were cooked perfectly. It's a small restaurant but service was quick for seating, ordering drinks & food. All of us enjoyed our meal. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We were in Newark for an Amy Grant concert st the Midland. We stayed the night and wanted to try a local breakfast place that wasn't in the hotel. This diner was about a block from the hotel. It's a cute place with floor to ceiling windows in front (it's right on the corner of 3rd and Church). There were family photos on the wall which gave it a homey feel. There was a little girl in back talking to her grandma who I assume was our server. We felt very safe but we tend to be reserved and don't stand out. The food was good and plentiful. Ham and cheese omelet tasted fresh with just-cut ingredients. Waitress was attentive with coffee refills but still gave us our space. I ordered a second plate of hash browns. Amazingly tasty. Appreciated that they weren't overly salted so I could add my own salt which made them perfect. Husband's oatmeal was really good too. If we ever return to town for another show we will definitely try them out for lunch. Solid recommendation.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, just a quaint family owned diner with friendly staff. Love the mismatch coffee mugs Would like to see the sharable condiments replaced (ketchup, S/P, hot sauce). They are pretty dirty and you can tell have been reused one too many times.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. Felt like grandma made me brekkie with love. eggs were done correctly and the potatoes were great!

Yelp
Always loved this place, use to work right across the street! The owner is always super nice and sweet and the food is always spectacular. It's kind of like going to your grandmas for breakfast/lunch.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I Decided to try a new breakfast place in town besides our usual cafe. This is a small family diner and im pretty sure the owner served us,who by the way was very nice. The problem was that the food was not very good. I am big on reading reviews of new places and this place had 4.3 stars and nothing but nice reviews. To begin, the coffee was so weak that when I put one creamer in it, it tasted as if I were drinking warm milk. The homefries were mushy and tasted like dog food, bacon was rubbery and cold. The only good part about my meal was the toast:( On top of the food I constantly felt eyes on me from the other customers. Needless to say I wont be returning to Daisy's Diner

Yelp
Gotta look to find it. Nice little spot, only about 10 tables. Great staff (all family). Not a complicated multi item menu, but standard diner fare. Food was good. Expect to meet a lot of locals while there.

Yelp
Relax with locals, good simple wholesome food. Country music soft in background. Well lighted. Corner lot. Try the pile up for breakfast, hearty country breakfast of eggs, bacon, hash browns and biscuits smothered in gravy. Smooth and mild coffee. We will be back!

Yelp
Friendly staff. It's your typical, family owned diner. Good, basic breakfast. Fast service.

Yelp
This is my go to breakfast joint! The food is always fresh and prepared exactly how I want it. If you want great food that will not leave you hungry this is the place to go.

Yelp
A great "hole in the wall" place. Good home cooked food and very reasonably priced. Love the down home feel.

Yelp
A hometown diner with daily specials and instant mashed potatoes. The meatloaf s terrific as are the chicken and noodles. Nothing deep fried and pie for dessert. Wonderful pictures of historic Newark on the walls.

Yelp
Great little spot. Fun colors on the table. We didn't leave hungry. Just the place for a morning stop downtown

Yelp
Great home cooking in a good location right downtown near the square. Nothing fancy, but it is excellent food. And the berry pie was as good as any I have ever had.

Yelp
Good local place. It has a homey feel and the food was good. To me it felt more like eating at grandmas house. Great place for a quick lunch or a hearty breakfast.
