Yelp
I wanted to really like this spot, since I read a bunch of Yelp reviews beforehand and narrowed down our pre-flight meal to Dalat. Their food is decent, but a little underwhelming. I think it's more of an evening spot with their bar/atmosphere.
I came here as a last Dallas meal before flying home. It was a sleepy Sunday morning and we came a little bit after the restaurant opened. There was a few people at the bar, and several parties already seated. By the way, they have parking right out front which is convenient for drivers.
I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, my partner and I shared the Dalat rolls and we each ordered a bowl of pho. Our server forgot about the iced coffee, so we received it after the steaming bowls of pho already arrived and after I reminded our server about it, NBD.
I thought their self-serve station for sauces & garnishes was pretty cool. You can choose your own jalapeños, bean sprouts, Thai basil, like slices, etc. I'm a fan of choosing the amount/combination you like (bc I'd personally skip the bean sprouts and load up on the sliced jalapeños and Thai basil!).
The pho was okay, a little salty for my taste, and was not the same as the steaming bowls of pho from the mom & pop places I'm used to from the "Little Vietnam" neighborhood that I frequent in Chicago. Regardless, I appreciated that we were able to find a Vietnamese spot so close to the Dallas's downtown area and in close proximity to our hotel.
My favorite dish was the Dalat rolls and I'd recommend them. It's a fried crispy egg roll within a fresh spring roll with the rice wrapper. It was so unique. I'd give a few more stars to Dalat if I had time to try their other fushion options: Dorito-Viche and Dalat Shooters. Those were some things that caught my eye - we just couldn't try everything in one go. It was an average spot for pho that is probably more lively/bustling in the evenings, and I left feeling like there was more to be desired. Regardless, I'm glad I got to try this spot when I was in Dallas.
