Daldongnae Korean BBQ - Sheppard

I recently visited this Korean BBQ restaurant and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The host and one of the waitresses were extremely rude and lacked basic courtesy, which really set a negative tone for the evening. While the rest of the staff were okay, the overall service felt unwelcoming. The food itself was just average – nothing particularly special compared to other places I’ve tried. To the management: please remember that you’re serving customers in Canada, where good hospitality and respect go a long way. A little kindness and professionalism would greatly improve the dining experience.

What a gem. Well known gem, but nonetheless a gem. The quantity was generous, side dishes were authentic and filled up the whole table, and the servers there to help at the most perfect timings. Such a well run place with attention to detail. Will visit again next month.

The food is bursting with authentic flavors, portions are generous, and everything is cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and welcoming, making it perfect for any occasion. Service is attentive and friendly. Truly one of the best dining experiences—highly recommend!

Good service and we had thin pork belly and chicken BBQ with noodles and rice. Chicken was good but thin pork was alright. Maybe we should try fat pork belly next time then.

Very authentic as far as I can tell. We had the pork belly and short ribs. Many complementary side dishes such as bean sprout, kimchi soup, cheese with corn and egg. All of which are refillable. We also tired kimchi cold noodles, they were very flavourful.

Went after seeing lots of good reviews, but it didn’t live up to the hype. Visited Wednesday after 10 PM. The only good thing was the cool interior. The food was average. The meat was bland and lacked flavor and side dishes overpowered everything. They require at least two meat or veggie orders per table, but portions were small for the price. Service started fine, but after the initial setup, no one checked on us or asked if we wanted more food or drinks. I tried flagging someone, but no one paid attention. We had to ask a server assistant who was busy bussing tables just to restart our stove. Eventually, I decided to pay the bill and leave and went to another restaurant for more food.

meats were super fresh and the kimchi stew and pancake hit the spot🤤 I know Korean bbq can feel like a lot cuz cooking and eating at the same time, but the manager was so kind and helped us with the grilling and other staffs were very kind as well! It made the experience fun and easy, and we could just enjoy the food without worrying. Definitely a great place with both good food and great service! A must-try if you’re in uptown 🤌🤌

The food was great, and the serving time was solid. However, they brought us the completely wrong order. We decided to just go with it anyway, since we didn’t want to wait again. When it came time to pay, we chose to pay in cash but ended up waiting over 15 minutes for our change. No one came back, and we felt too awkward to ask. Eventually, we just left without it, feeling pretty disappointed. Good food, but the service definitely needs improvement.

Phenomenal Korean BBQ in a really nice, cool environment. I've only had Korean BBQ once - in Seoul. This was equal to that, or better. The meat tasted great, the cold noodles were fantastic, and everything was very tasty. There was also a healthy selection of Soju! ;) I loved sitting out on the rooftop patio (although it got warm with the bbq in front of us), and the restaurant itself was clean and large. Service was also excellent - very fast and responsive. I will return!!

Surprised to see another location pop up on Yonge St., it is a very convenient location with a paid parking lot behind the restaurant. The food was standard with lots of side dishes & refills. I like that this location takes reservations through Yelp.

The best Korean BBQ in town. So good that there are four locations all along Yonge street in between Steeles and Sheppard. That's insane! Decor in here is super cute and retro vibes. The food is always on point and have such great cuts of meat. Can't forget the unlimited side dishes, corn and egg that they serve. They're really generous in giving you unlimited sides, we find ourselves always asking for the cheese corn as it's so delicious. Make to have the cheese corn on the grill for a little longer to get that crispy cheesy edge. Whatever cut of meat you get for the grill is fresh and top quality. Wash down that KBBQ with some cold noodles, whether you get the soupy cold noodle or soupless version, it's very refreshing and great contrast to the bbq. This is hands down the best Korean BBQ and I find myself here all the time along with their other locations! They're all so great and have the same quality and great service.

Service was fantastic,- everyone was super on it re-filling whatever we needed. Great banchan, loved the wagyu and pork belly, and the mushrooms. Cute vibes as well!

This review is strictly about the level of service. The food itself is very good along with the upper patio seating. However, the terrible service made for a poor dining experience. I would suggest driving a bit more north on Yonge street and going to the Steeles location where the service is significantly better and the staff are much friendlier. To start, every time our server would come by so we could ask for a refill on the lettuce or side dishes or extra napkins, she had the rudest face and literally had one foot out the door instead of actually stopping to take the order. Its as if she didn't give a sh*t and couldn't be bothered with a customer's request. We had to ask multiple times for refills on lettuce considering they would only bring out one basket with 5-6 pieces. But with a table of 6 dining, you can see that it would be consumed pretty quickly. To make matters worse when the manager swung by to ask if we needed anything we also requested a refill on the same items since our server was MIA. and even then it didn't come out for sometime. I can go on and on about the lack of attentiveness but I'll save my breath and ensure I go to the Steeles location instead where they are much nicer. And easier to find FREE parking.

It was okay- they took care of our friend with gluten allergy but did not have tamari sauce for him, which I thought was pretty lame. Service otherwise was pretty bad- no one checked in on us. We had to flag down for numerous occasions. Definitely not my favourite location.

I just saw an email from Yelp that Dandongnae cancelled my reservation from their end, what????why??? I have been your restaurant a number of times, spent $$$, so why? I remember a friend of mine telling me that he experienced the same non sense and didn't think of it much back then. Fine, I will go to other place for Korean BBQ. I really miss LeeNamjang which was originally at the current Daldongnae Sheppard location.

They are liars. Was told that you don't need a reservation for the patio when I called. I confirmed with the person on the phone that I would come in an hour because of traffic. When I came here, they told me it was closed.... SO DISAPPOINTED. Try another place, there's many bbq along yonge street.

best best best. if you are a fan of KDRAMA, and you wanna feel like you enter that realm.... go with the group. reservation in advance is a must- don't walk in, you may never get a seat. food and the side dish is awesome. servive is perfect. we are too busy having fun with soju and bbq to check the Ambiance. most like it was the best as well. You have to order at least 2 orders of meat in order for the grill to turn on. With 3 orders of meat, you'll get unlimited rounds of 6 side dishes ( must have )- you can only get refill on the side dish, as long as you still have meat to grill. So don't rush, don't go low on meat either.

Had Korean BBQ, the meat food is average , not exceptional but acceptable. The place is noisy and most patrons are young folks. Service required is minimal but the waiters are pleasant and efficient. Price point is good and it's a fun place to dine.

Amazing quality of meat. I just love this place!!! I bring my friends and family here as often as I can afford to go. It's well worth the price. Family of 4 about $140-$150 includes 15-18% tip.

Came in for lunch on a Sunday. We ordered the boneless beef ribs, pork belly and seafood pancake. The side dishes were generous and the staff didn't mind topping up if you finished. The beer was cold, but where were the glasses? The bbq plate was greased with a piece of pork fat, and we were offered some soup with our meal, as we would have been in Korea. The corn and egg were a nice surprise, but not my thing. My favorite dish around the hot plate was the hot kimchi... we ended up ordering more food, because it was enjoyable and delicious. The quality of everything was great. I can easily upgrade to 5 stars; perhaps an easier meal to justify in winter & getting all hot and smoky is a whole lot more justifiable

Hated the food. Meat was decent but did not like the sauces or accompaniments. Nice decor. Service ok

This place is generally good, but had a server unapologetically reject my request to be seated away from the windows when I commented that it was cold. I had 3 people and other tables with 4 people had been seated at larger less cold tables. Otherwise generally do not have complaints about this place. These types of situations shouldn't end up with a negative review. I mean, this is a Monday night with no wait list for gods sake. *update* They gave us better seats 5 minutes later Adjusting review from 1 star to 4
