The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Belle Meade | Eater Nashville

"Dalt’s has been serving up comfort food to the Belle Meade community since 1980. This diner-style spot has decor as timeless as its menu, which includes hearty sandwiches, pizzas, and salads alongside “home cooking” options like chicken and dumplings, chicken pot pie, and meatloaf." - Kellie Walton

Our first time visiting Dalts and it was a Saturday for lunch. The food is really good and the service was great! No wait to sit down and food was out quickly. We love restaurants with a large variety of food to choose from and Dalts has a big menu. The special for Saturday is a free appetizer with the purchase of 2 meals. We got mozzarella sticks and they tasted homemade. We had the fish dinner, chicken Alfredo, and Chicken & Buttons. It was all delicious! My husband leaves a lot of restaurants not quite full, but he was more than satisfied with the fish dinner. It is an old building and doesn't feel super clean but the reasonable prices make up for that! We will be back when we are in the area!

This restaurant is located in a shopping center with a Trader Joe's so is a convenient stop. A nice selection on the menu, friendly wait staff and good service. We tried the Fried Green Tomatoes which were nice cuts that held together well for dipping. Also had the Patty Melt. (Were I to get it again, I would go with Medium Well instead of Medium). The squash casserole was more like bread stuffing but very good. The pot roast plate was home cooking at its best. Hub picked chili as a side which would have made a nice main course. Generous portions so we took home dinner!

Food is ok. Nice people and great family friendly space. Fruit tea was horrible. But it got exchanged. Great food portions

Well, I gotta say after I got my food I was pleasantly surprised the pizza was pretty tasty and they also have milkshakes here so I got an excellent chocolate milkshake. Thank all the staff here for doing a great job and making my visit very wonderful. I typically seek out diner cafes small mom and pop places in the local communities where I live and visit. I was fooled by this one I figured out that it is owned by the parent company for TGIF Friday. I'll eat here I'll tell you how it is but I can basically tell you it's corporate national chain and if you're looking for a small diner experience you might want to go somewhere else. I realized when I pulled into the shopping strip mall that it wasn't a real old school place it's a corporate place that pretends to be mom and pop That being said the waitresses are very nice The decorations are nice and they even have a brick pizza oven so I'm going to try one of those it's kind of hard to mess that up

I started coming here with my boss. I love the atmosphere not too noisy, nice portion sizes. Very nastolgic. If you have an elder or just want a quiet and homey place this would be it. Never a bad experience.

Dalts American Grill is a great restaurant with an extensive menu. The fried mushrooms are fantastic! They are deliciously paired with horse radish sauce. Dalts serves bread rolls before the entrees arrive. The rolls are soft and warm. We ordered the veggie burger and it was excellent as well. It was served on toasted bread instead of a bun. The restaurant is comfortable and has loads of character. All the staff are friendly, Rebekah was our waitress and she was lovely to us.

Google
We could smell the grill coming out of Trader Joe's and we were dying to try whatever smelled so good! The food prices were great and everything was pretty dang good! The only thing is that everything is pretty bland, so I'd recommend staying away from things like the french fries. Otherwise, the salt on the table did the trick and we really enjoyed our entrees!

Google
Tried this place yesterday for lunch and I was very pleased with how fresh and tasty everything was. I mean it was so delicious... I had the philly cheese steak , fries & a side of green tomatoes. Everything came out at a decent time for a great price! Definitely a 10/10 ... I'll be back to try a buffalo chicken sandwich !! Lol

Yelp
One of our weeknight go tos! We love Dalts for a quick meal that doesn't break the bank. The pizza is excellent, fajitas are fresh without being big greasy, always love their salmon dinner and you can't forget the onion rings! They truly have everything you could want in a diner

Yelp
Oh Dalt's, what's happened?! I mainly came today for old time sake bc your milkshakes used to be so good, like the best in town... But, I was just served a runny liquid that was nothing similar to a milkshake consistency... Sent it back so quick, I didn't even get a pic... Bummed for sure bc they used to be so thick, you could turn the glass over and the shake wouldn't fall out... And, they were so flavoral... The one I just sent back to the kitchen has given me a bad after taste and was as runny as sweet tea... I also ordered the Oriental Salad... I have to say, it's one of the best salads I've ever eaten:.. I will be returning to order it again... It's unlike ordinary salads,'which was appealing to me... And, the Peanut Vinaigrette dressing was an added bonus... My daughter ordered crab linguini... She didn't like it! (Description from Dalt's webpage) Oriental Salad $12.00 Salad greens with grilled chicken, linguini, cilantro, chopped peanuts, and wontons. Served with peanut vinaigrette.

Yelp
The good: the food. The bad: the service. Took 10 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was not busy at all. Server seemed like he didn't want to be there at all. He came to our table and asked us what we ordered! Took a long time to get our food.. The food was good. Several other patrons came in and were unhappy as well. One man yelled out that no one had waited on them. One table who also took forever to get their food and when he got his steak, he sent it back. I have been here before and everything was great. Not sure what has happened, probably management. Cannot recommend.

Yelp
I can get a burger or tacos here.. we'll or peach cobbler and pot roast. How can you go Wrong with such a variety. My Hamburger club was around $13 and that's with a pile of fries. I also scarfed down a key lime piece of pie-
google avatar

Yelp
Possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Seems like everything was pre made/frozen and purchased in a grocery store, reheated and served. Oh and the service was equally bad. At least it was cheap?
google avatar

Yelp
Still a gem. It's been about six years since I've been to Dalts. I took a friend to experience it and was so happy and surprised that after all this time, it's the place to be. Latoya had the Catfish and I had the cod, we added fried green tomatoes. The portions are more than adequate. We ate everything! Toya said the strawberry margarita was perfect and just strong enough to make her giggle. We shared laughs great food and good company all without feeling rushed.

Yelp
Came for lunch and was seated promptly. Service and food delivery were quick. Ordered the spinach dip which was good and the chopped steak was cooked as ordered. I wish there had been more seasoning on the steak, but overall I enjoyed my meal. I will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

Yelp
This used to be a great restaurant. This is the third time in a year I've been here & today was the last. Husband's roast beef was tough & hard & difficult to eat. My fish tacos were so average, at best. Small portion of some frozen whitefish with coleslaw on top, which makes the flour tortilla wet & runny. I had fresh salmon there this year & it was cold & uncooked & sent it back. I had what used to be my favorite pizza there & crust was badly burned & pizza poorly prepared. Today, we had a short window & it was a late lunch, or we would have sent the entire meal back. The wait staff was good.

Yelp
If Johnny Rockets, a New Jersey Diner and a 90's Applebee's had a love child...Dalts American Grill would be it. Dalts is located on White Bridge Road near the Target and directly in front of the Trader Joe's. For the most part it is your all American diner with an expansive menu featuring diner classics such as burgers, chicken tenders, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings and salads combined with omelets, tacos, pizza and seafood plus desserts of course! The weirdest part of the menu and the mark of a true diner is the "Steak, Ribs & Omelet" section...because you know you always trying to decide between a NY Strip, rack of ribs or veggie omelet! For our meal I went with a diner classic, Patty Melt sided with hashbrown casserole and my partner went the club with fries. The Patty Melt was cooked to temp and overall was a solid burger. I chose white bread in lieu of the rye, personal preference, and the Texas toast held up well. It was the opposite story on the other end of the table as the club was not as successful and the fries were just terrible. The bread for the club was chewy and the filling of the sandwich kept falling out. It was not a well constructed sandwich unfortunately. Before I move on from the food, you do get complimentary biscuits/rolls upon being sat. When you visit a diner, you expect lots of shiny metals, gaudy furnishings, eccentric lighting and artwork...and Dalts has it all. The vibe is "old", but kind of a dated-old as the booths, tables, flooring, ceilings, etc...are quite run down. As I continue to describe Dalts, I struggle a tad as it really is a mix of vibes from the bar that looks like it belongs in a seedy local dive bar, to the large wooden banisters in the dining room combined with the open-air kitchen behind the stainless bar to the standard seating private dining room. Service was decent. There were a lot of servers and staff on during our visit, but service was still decently slow. She was friendly and accurate, and we were not in a rush, so all was well on that end. Overall, we are glad we experienced Dalts given it's place in the local scene. While I do not believe we will go out of our way to dine at Dalts, I can see this as a place my parents would enjoy, so I will be happy to bring them by during visits.

Kayli C.

Yelp
Food is subpar at best. Server was nice. Entire restaurant is coated in a greasy dust, from ceilings in cobwebs to dirt around the booths. People say if the bathroom at a restaurant gives you the ick, you don't want to see their kitchen. They'd benefit from closing down for a week to do some deep cleaning & repainting.

Yelp
Customer service was great but the food was not what was expected, I ordered chicken Parmesan and the chicken was soggy and pasta oily and flavorless

Yelp
Pretty good place to grab something to eat in the white bridge area later in the evening (they don't close til 10). Food was pretty good! Our group all ordered the country fried steak & all liked it. The rolls & butter were really good! Everyone really liked their mashed potatoes! Ordered peanut butter pie for dessert. The pie seems to be a bit overhyped on their menu. After reading the description on the menu & seeing that the pie "is so good it has its own TikTok" we were expecting some amazing piece of pie. It was good but not "oh my gosh amazing"...service was great! Our food came out fast! Our server Jennifer was very good & great with drink refills too! We've been here for weekend brunch before & brunch is probably a better meal than dinner.

Yelp
We ate here for the first time recently after attending a nearby event and we were hungry for something filling, casual, inexpensive, and relatively fast. This checked all the boxes. The TL:DR version is that the country fried steak is maybe the best country fried steak I've ever had and my wife's chicken parm was good but certainly not the best version of that she's ever had. More detail-- the ambience/atmosphere here is...interesting? It's kind of stu ck in the 1980s which is when this place apparently first opened, so that's cool. No complaints. Kind of like "Cheers" meets "Diner"? Service was super friendly. The menu has a lot of options--breakfast/brunch (at appropriate times), pizza, burgers, sandwiches, meat and threes, salmon, steak, wraps, etc. A pretty good cocktail and beer menu as well, and just like the food the drinks are fairly prices (even during inflation). I started with a sweetwater IPD draft ($6!) and our server gave us some complimentary rolls to eat while we waited on our food to arrive (basic yeast rolls, warm and good though). As mentioned, my country fried steak was surprisingly great. I've had country fried steak a lot over the years, and it's usually a dependable choice but rarely something to rave about. This one is. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. The gravy was the perfect texture and saltiness. The smashed potatoes on the side were EXCELLENT. I chose mac and cheese as my other side, and while a tad on the softer side (if you prefer al dente), the cheese was sharp cheddar with a proper dash of bitter and piping hot. Loved this meal. My wife had the chicken parm, which was basically some (perfectly cooked) linguini style noodles with two chicken tenders atop it and some...red water sauce? Not thick enough to be marinara, not thin enough to be tomato soup. She loved the chicken and noodles, the sauce was meh. She said it tasted like something you cooked at home quickly if you're a decent cook, it was filling and good. We were too full for dessert there, but ordered a piece of the chocolate malt cake to go and it was good later that evening--great chocolate icing with a big dipped chocolate malt ball on top, the cake was a tad bit dry but good. Definitely stop back by again some day, maybe for brunch.

Yelp
Been a long time patron, and very diss appointed w the quality.. I have always gotten the summer melt. Got it, and very little actual chicken salad and NO shredded cheese NO shredded lettuce. like listed on the ingredients on the menu. Incredibly frustrating at the poor level of prep and lack of ingredients. 13.00 wasted. Too bad 20 yr patron will think again.. Wanted to keep some of the places that have been in this city for more than one minute. But difficult when they turn to crap. Hopefully this was a fluke. But doubtful
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
Dalt's has been around for a very long time and I honestly do not understand the reason why.... it's a super dated diner style place with lots of older folks that fill up the restaurant. I ordered a burger and fries and it came out crispy on the burger and cold on the fries. Maybe a good place if you've had a few?

Yelp
I just really like this restaurant a lot! The food is always good, the rolls and honey butter are delicious, the menu is huge so you're bound to find something that sounds good, and the prices are not too high. The food is never 100% gourmet, but it always tastes homemade and it's always fresh! One of my favorite go to meals is the turkey and dressing, but I have to be in the mood for it. I recently ordered the chicken and buttons (another one of my favs) and it was just as good as always. My son even liked the fried mushrooms that were on top of the chicken and he is the pickiest eater ever! Oh and the squash casserole here is divine. I almost always get it even if it doesn't really "go" with whatever else I order, ha! My son had the mac and cheese and fries (both good) and my parents had pot roast. Theirs was also delicious! My other favorite options here are the southwest salad, blackened chicken sandwich, Dalts club, Monterey chicken, and the smashed potatoes. So many other great options to choose from though! You cannot go wrong!

Mark L.

Yelp
Ate lunch here today. The food is always great, and today was no exception. Except for one thing. I specifically asked that i get my salad first, which came 1 minute before my meal not as I asked. It certainly wasn't Brandie's fault. She did a great job. I asked to speak with the manager. Shawn came out and said well you got all of your food and we got it out in 10 minutes. And he asked what else can I do. It would have been different but I asked another server. Interesting that he wanted to argue. Oh well

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered off the brunch menu and it was nice. The spinach frittata could have used a bit more cheese but otherwise tasty. Our server Angela S. Was quick, friendly and sweet; we will go back. They are wearing masks and practicing social distances.

Yelp
This is the 3rd time in 4 days I have stopped in here to eat while in Nashville with my daughter who is in the hospital. Great diner. Lots of choices, quick service, and reasonably priced. I am hooked on the potato soup. Large restaurant with cute retro-tiled floors. Highly recommend.

Yelp
On Friday evening April 28th, dozens of us converged on Dalts Restaurant to celebrate a wonderful young man who volunteered a year of his life providing elderly ones with much needed medical assistance and care. A few days before our event, I spoke to Shannon (the owner) to reserve the Sunroom and discuss what was permitted for decorations and sound equipment, etc. He was so helpful and kind. He took personal interest in our special event and assured me everything would be just as requested. When we arrived the reserved Sunroom was just as promised. The food, service and atmosphere provided by the manager Haley and her staff was truly exceptional. And a special thanks to our two servers Sam and Jen. They were always pleasant and served the food in timely manner(thanks to the cooks as well) and consistently kept our drinks topped off. Because of their diligence and hard work our evening went off without a glitch. In a world of lackluster service staffing a restaurant with quality personnel is a challenge we all have observed. Dalts Restaurant rises above to demonstrate what the food industry should be!!

Kayla L.

Yelp
Ordered food and received the wrong meals and the meals that we did receive were soggy or burnt. Asked for no sauce on the chicken sandwich and we ended up with extra. Onion rings were raw.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem in Nashville. Having lived in the area for now over a decade, it's downright impossible to find an unpretentious spot with great food and friendly staff. That's Dalts. Currently having the French dip (for probably the 5th time) and it's amazing.

David S.

Yelp
We like Dalts. The food is always good, and we go at least once a week. Lately , the service during the week has been awful. We had to walk out tonight after waiting over10 minutes with no one coming to our table. They weren't busy at all. There were only a handful of tables. We decided to leave when a server walked past our table and started chatting with the hostess like she was bored and had nothing better to do. We find the poor service during slow times very unfortunate.

Alexis J.

Yelp
Food was good. But the cobblers weren't very good at all. They weren't very sweet and had a funny taste to them. If you want a desert, choose something else.

Marketa M.

Yelp
The literal cheese eggs were huge disappointment. This is the first time I have ever seen cheese eggs presented like this. Food was good besides the literal cheese eggs that were cold after all the attempts to get the cheese melted or anything besides a cold cheese laid over eggs. Waffle House would never.

Sara R.

Yelp
A friend wanted to eat here and I had some doubts about it. When we walked in the building had a smell to it and I was even more worried. However, the food was good. Our waitress appeared mad and was not friendly, but otherwise we were pleased! I would try it again.
google avatar

Ron K.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday for lunch. After waiting on a host to show up for 10 minutes. We were seated right away. Place smelled like a greasy old diner and the floors were dirty. The draft beer tasted like the taps haven't been cleaned out in a month. Worst French Dip ever! Cold fries and average service. This place used to be good and has gone way down hill. Won't go back EVER!

Casey D.

Yelp
Food came out quick and was very well priced. They bring out warm rolls and had a lot of options/ We all really enjoyed our food and we had a great service with our server Susie Q, who kept our drinks topped and was super kind.
google avatar

Charity C.

Yelp
My experience at Dalts was very underwhelming. I originally ordered the chicken fried steak with smashed potatoes and Mac n cheese and the steak was overly fried that it was burnt and could barely be chewed. They did accept the plate back and in turn i ordered the Cajun pasta. Sadly, this too was a let down. The pictures look good, but the flavor was indeed lacking and it seemed like they threw waaay too much cilantro on the top. Anyone who cooks with cilantro knows that's it's a stronger flavor and if you over garnish it, you can potentially ruin the whole plate. Anyways, I'll end on a positive note. Our server was truly nice, understanding, and apologetic. I have no complaints regarding the service. I just wish I could say the same for the food.

Mark C.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Dalt's, so, I really wasn't sure what to expect. We were seated promptly and the service was great. The server was nice. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. It's a diner-type setting. We had the onion rings for an appetizer. They were delicious. The warm yeast rolls with butter were delicious. Both of us ordered The Reuben, one with fries and the other with squash casserole. The Reuben was ok. The fries were ok. The squash casserole wasn't that good. The sweet tea was good.
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
This place has a cute ambience and the food is pretty good. Portions are definitely large especially for the price.
google avatar

Adam W.

Yelp
You will not find a better local spot than Dalt's. Great breakfast, lunch and dinner any time you'd like (and a great bar to boot). I got their build your own omelette for the first time. It was AMAZING!!!
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
This is a pretty dated, old school restaurant. It looks as if they may have killed it back in the day but are still living off the high of that so they've never improved or renovated a single thing. Why fix what isn't broken?? I ordered a burger and fries with a milkshake. It was good, but nothing I would ever write home about.
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
Dalts is my favorite place to 2 go for food and drinks. The staff are all professionals and curtious especially Marja, Sandy and Coco(she is new and awsome)!!!!
google avatar

Jacob N.

Yelp
The waitress was not very friendly. Her tone of voice was so un called for. The way she responded to my mom and my sister... no thank you!
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
The food was good. The service was great too. Chloe was our server. She was very friendly and helpful. We celebrated my daughter's 9th birthday and the great surprise was that 2 kids ate free per adult meal. I had chicken and buttons and loaded mash potatoes, AMAZING (in my Oprah voice). My sister had the ribeye steak, she says it was perfectly seasoned and cooked, DELICIOUS. My mom got the bbq ribs and she says they were excellent. The kids had chicken tenders, cheeseburger, and corn dogs. I assume the kids food was good since they ate it all except a few fries.
google avatar

Mark Lee T.

Yelp
Would a thoughtful review change anything? We desperately need good restaurants in the White Bridge Road area, but here we are with nothing but places that "phone it in." J. Alexander's, same damn menu forever. And Dalt's. You were once good, and now it's as if: how little can I do to make money? Indifferent, churlish service personnel, carelessly assembled food, few concessions to dietary changes/preferences in 40 years. How do you have that many customers? Some people value cheap menu over all other attributes, I suppose. Thoroughly mediocre and surprisingly, still in business. I weep for what you were in 1980. You used to be out Cherrs of West Nashville and now you're the culinary equivalent of Kirstie Alley: once talented, beautiful and sexy and now an ugly has been.
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
I really don't see how anyone can rate this place highly. Yes, I realize this is not a foodie place, but it is just plain "not good". My mother in laws favorite restaurant in Nashville, so she tries to push Dalts all the time, but I would rather have a hot poker shoved in my eye than deal with this. What attracts me to a facility to frequent in the food business? Good food and/or drinks. Obviously these are different interests for different times. I might also visit for great service if it was a place I could go with friends for a good evening. Dalts fails on all points. So let's get too it. Food? Everything I have tried is different levels of salt lick (and none of them Himalayan or good sea salt). Great for a cow in the field, but unpalatable for human beings that can actually taste food. I took home the chicken fried steak one night due to being chided about waste and promptly threw it out when I got home. I can scrape off bad breading and choke something down, but the feeling of swallowing sea water is not appealing. On top of that, much of the meal feels like a can was opened, poured into a pan, and served. Service? The best I have had is average. In general, It is more about trying to flag down the wait staff for more liquids to combat the salt (I did mention salt, right?) Atmosphere? Fine, but dated. Who might like this? I can see that is might be attractive to groups as they are very open to having groups (there were 2 the last time I was there). Also great for people who LOVE salt. This used to be a good restaurant with decent food. Today, it is nasty. I want to like it as I have fond memories. I have tried a few times (fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me), but I really can't stomach this. As one who is very focused on trying to find something good to give a place at least an average rating (that is 3 stars for those who are confused and believe 3 stars is bad), but as much as I tried to find enough to give this a 2, I found it impossible.
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Here's the thing about Dalts, They are always consistent. Right now it is 2:30 AM, and they are closed, so this is all I can do to quell the crave. I have been a customer of Dalts for at least 15 years, never once have I been displeased with their food, never once have I found something to complain about their food, the choices, well, sometimes I feel like motorboating their menu. Let me just say this, I love me some salads, and I've never found a speck of brown on their lettuce...Dang I could go on for hours about Dalts, I will warn you about this though, you will have dreams about Dalts, and I hope they are open so you can get some. If Dalts does you wrong, I will eat a bug.

Larry E.

Yelp
I would have given it one star were it not for the wonderful service from Vinnie our server. He was very personable and professional. My wife ordered a patty melt with very soggy rye bread, small amount of grilled onions. I had the chicken strips which were fresh and tasty, however both of us had cold french fries. The couple we were with ordered the salmon, and left most of it as it was not tasty and fully cooked. We have been in the area a year and half and been wanting to try this. A waste of time and money,

Yelp
Great selection of food. Plenty to choose from. Old timey atmosphere. Servers are nice. Even their pizzas are good. And my boys love their milkshakes!

Brad H.

Yelp
Table, chairs, menus, silverware... we're all clean. Food was great, service was non-existent. Birthday dinner for 5. Onion rings & fried mushrooms appetizers were perfectly battered/cooked & served hot. Burgers & chicken sandwiches were all hot/cooked perfectly. My cx quesadila was packed full of juicy cx & veggies. Problem was we NEVER saw our server after all food delivered. The table was never cleared of any plates after we finished apps or entrees. Bread wasn't delivered until well after entrees arrived despite our kids asking for it before ordering. Had to ask another manager/server to find our server so we could order some milkshakes for dessert and pay our tab. Usually we've had solid service when dining here in the past. Hopefully this was just one bad egg server and not a downward trend on service standards there.

Yelp
Update # 2 - went back to Dalts on Sunday, 10/6 for lunch after church. Got there about 12:50. Had a party of seven. I had to be somewhere at 2pm. I told the waitress that, also told her no pressure, that if I didn't make it where I needed to be in time I would just explain that the restaurant industry is a hard industry to work in and that Sunday lunch hours are usually overwhelmingly busy - the people I had to meet would've understood. Instead, she went ahead and put my order in and told them to rush it. I got my food, ate it, was out of there at a decent time, and still made it where I needed to be right on time. Now what waitress do you think honors special requests like that? Wish I would've gotten her name but she did amazing. I'm very thankful she didn't mind doing that for me. The customer service here has been fantastic all three times I have been. I will continue to go back! Update # 1 - went to Dalts on Sunday, 9/29 for lunch after church. After being there for some time, our waitress comes by and tells us the reason our food is taking so long is because she "forgot" to put the order in for them to start preparing the food. Well, we didn't complain. We just all smiled and said okay instead of causing a scene or making a big deal out of it. We understand that sometimes things just happen....Well, the manager come to us (we don't complain to her or anything, she comes to us on her own accord) and apologizes and although we had three separate tickets, she gave us half off EVERY ticket because of the waitress's slip up. Top notch way to handle this! I wish I got the manager's name because she was the bomb.com. she made sure we were taken care of. Now THAT is good customer service.

Yelp
Came here for a business lunch, they got right down to business. My table was already sat, and as soon as I got there with another coworker they were asking what we wanted to drink. I had the hot chicken, trying to try local specialties. It was amazing! Texas toast wasn't soggy, had that extra crunch to it. I subbed out the side for the salad and it was proper. Next time, I'm going to try the blackened chicken. My coworker got it and it looked amazing!

Yelp
Didn't have the chance to try it. We showed up close to 10pm on a Friday night and they turned us away saying they'd already shut everything down..

Yelp
We used to eat at Dalt's back in the 90's and early 2000's. We came back for dinner and it was ok. Food was a little dry and server seemed like he wasn't that in to it.

Yelp
Dalt's, the place where my wife and I ate an early dinner, is right around the corner from Saint Thomas hospital. We were greeted when we entered and. as soon as we were seated, our server, Jordyn, took our orders. She first brought dinner rolls and their sweet butter. I should have passed on the rolls- but ate them anyway. My ribeye steak wasn't the best cut of meat, but it was cooked just as I'd ordered. Overall, it was lip-smacking good. The home style mac and cheese tasted like what mom might have served back in the day. My wife ordered the baby back ribs. Meaty ribs, cooked so that the pork was falling off the bone. Color her happy. My dessert was the blackberry cobbler. it was served, freshly baked, with fresh, juicy berries in a hot blackberry sauce. The cobbler was enhanced by the walnut crust- a perfect touch. Now to rate Dalt's restaurant. The service that we received, especially from our server, Jordyn, was excellent. My ribeye was, overall, a tasty dish. The side was just good, old fashioned, home style food. The rolls were forgettable while the blackberry cobbler was the shining star of the meal. Four stars for Dalt's American Grill.

Yelp
Nice place, pleasant staff, and at nearly 40 years old, still successful. Just passing by about lunchtime, I thought Dalt's looked interesting. Forty years. The couple entering the door ahead of me was nearly twice as seasoned, but there was a mix of young and old revving up the lunch hour inside. Greated with a genuinely lovely at the door, I was immediately aware that Dalt's is clean. Odd transition, that, but so far as I could tell, there wasn't a dirty spot to be seen or a table waiting to be bussed. The decor is attractive and well maintained with an overall feeling of a 1980's Harrigan's restaurant which took me back too many years. Daily lunch specials are available throughout the week. I passed on the day's chicken finger special. Being a western flatlander my eyes locked onto the country fried steak with smashed taters and gravy. They even have squash casserole to make things more southern. Rolls with honey flavored margarine arrived with my tea, but my taste buds were ready for MEAT! Everything on the plate looked delicious. Gravyless potatoes stood fine on their own. The squash was a bit oversweet for my taste, but it was hot and nicely seasoned. Ah...the meat and its golden-brown, crispy-crunchy breading. At last! Well, the breading was nice. The meaty part looked like meat, but didn't behave or taste like meat. Beneath the crispy goodness was Mystery Meat's cousin, Mushy. Surely, it contained meat or, at minimum, meat byproducts. Completely lacking texture, the product seemed pre-formed and mostly filler. Note to self: "Not doing that one again." Your mileage may vary, but next time I'll go for the chicken fingers. It's not like the chicken is going to need them, right? Or, maybe, the pot pie?

Yelp
I was initially reluctant to go to Dalts. I don't know why... let's chalk it up to yet another bad decision I've made., because I LOVE DALTS. My first encounter was with a Monte Cristo sandwich which was phenomenal! I have not had better elsewhere. My girlfriend was gaga over the squash casserole... she's right, it is delicious. The server was gregarious and fun. An A+ experience My next encounter a couple months later was a plate of Chicken and buttons- so very good. My girl devastated my fried mushrooms and onion rings. Our server was very personable and I enjoyed the good service. The second trip was after the loosening of the COVID restrictions, but still an A+ experience. Don't be like the initial me.... reluctant to change and unwilling to give Dalts a try. Be like the totally satisfied me who will eat here again!
