Best Restaurants to Try Near Lake Mead National Recreation Area | Eater Vegas

"This sunny coffee shop in the heart of Boulder City’s historic downtown is perfect for a light breakfast of strawberry feta avocado toast or bacon cheddar egg bites before the antique shops open or a leisurely afternoon spent with a matcha latte and a novel from the small in-house bookstore. The breakfast smörgås (an open-faced Scandinavian sandwich) are especially popular. The space gets very busy during the town’s long-running Dam Short Film Festival, held every February, so plan accordingly." - Krista Diamond

Google
Quaint adorable little place! They have books used & new for sale for adults & children even from local authors! Also have available for purchase art & jewelry pieces from local artists/crafters as well! We got a golden milk and Irish car bomb both were delicious! Definitely recommend

Google
We liked this spot. Coffee was great and we enjoyed the breakfast options we went for. From the things we tried, the breakfast sandwich was our favorite. The decoration is fresh and airy which felt nice and different compared to all the other places we went to at Boulder City. The book store has very diverse books and I also noticed items for sale made locally.

Google
We came here because we love books and the good looked great! Unfortunately the book selection wasn't very good. A lot of new age stuff. Religious books in the fiction section, no classics, no kid books. Food was delicious! And they had a nice variety of coffee drinks. Expensive, but close to average for coffee shops. Decent customer service. Tables were dirty, which they saw when they put our drinks down next to a big sticky spot. They didn't clean it. So we moved to their big table.

I stumbled upon this coffee shop while exploring the neighborhood, and I’m so glad I did! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the smell of fresh espresso and warm pastries. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, with plenty of seating, soft music, and perfect for studying or catching up with friends. I ordered an affgato and an Almond Butter cake . Both were excellent. The Affgato was smooth and perfectly balanced, not bitter at all. You can tell they use quality beans and know what they’re doing behind the bar.

Google
Great coffee, adorable inside, love the book store, offers a nice selection of pastries from local bakers. Enjoyed a live music performer today with my iced espresso, both refreshing. New in town and have tried several other shops, and this keeps being our go to place. Skip the line at Starbucks for sure, you wont be disappointed. Well done. 😎

After lunch coffee stop while visiting Boulder City. Server behind the counter was friendly and greeted us with a smile. We ordered four Iced Coffee’s. My friend said he had coffee grinds and he had to stop and spit them out several times. My hubby said his was very weak tasting.

Google
Bottom Line: come for toast, don’t worry about your kids. Food: We had the toast and a cinnamon roll. I’m naturally not a fan of overly sweet breakfasts so grabbing that avocado toast with an egg really hit the spot. Yes, an avocado toast. But it was really well done and after a long day of hiking yesterday, it hit the spot. Coffee wise, we did their speciality lattes. Deserving of being a shop signature but I really haven’t come across a place that did poorly. Service: it was busy and the bussing was a little slow. Self cleaning was also obscure so I’ll knock that. But the cashiers were friendly and prompt with the coffee and the meals! So I’ll leave that to Memorial Day rush. Atmosphere: like above, I saw a few families come thru and it was nice. Low stress, lots of seating, and everyone was relaxed. Lots of individual men having coffee, couples and a family. Again solid place

Google
Cute place to visit if you're headed to Hoover Dam. They offer some unique coffees and food selections. The book section is very small though, but they do highlight local authors which is nice.

Yelp
I had such a great experience at Dan Roast House & Browder Book Store! I ordered a cinnamon toast latte and an iced vanilla matcha latte -- both were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. The flavors were spot on without being too sweet. I also tried their sausage, egg, and bacon breakfast sandwich, and it was so good -- warm, hearty, and super fresh. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and everything came out quickly. Such a perfect spot to grab a drink, eat, and relax. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I visited this coffee shop in historic downtown Boulder after walking my dog. I was surprised by how spacious it is. It's much bigger than it looks on the outside and is clean and charming, with plenty of seating options. There are comfortable-looking chairs, small tables for solo visitors, larger tables for groups, and a bar-style counter where you can sit and watch the street. I ordered ahead, and my pickup was ready when I arrived even though I was a few minutes early. The barista was friendly, and the service was smooth. I tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch iced latte with almond milk, and it was so good. It was perfectly cinnamon-forward and genuinely did taste like the leftover milk after eating a bowl. It was indulgent, but not too sweet. A great way to start my Monday. There's a little trinket and bookstore section in the back of the shop. It's much more extensive than you'd expect and very endearing. The vibe overall is quiet, mellow, and ideal for studying or working. Also, it's beyond easy to find street parking and you can park three hours for free. I'd come back.

Yelp
A charming coffee shop plus book store in historic Boulder City. I can spend hours here. The coffee is smooth and decadent, the avocado toast is hearty and delicious, natural light pours through every window, and the shelves are stacked with books begging to be explored. For butterscotch lovers, there's a secret-menu "butter beer" latte that's absolutely incredible. And just half an hour from Las Vegas, Boulder City feels like an entirely different world. If you ever find yourself in town, make sure this special spot is on your list.

Yelp
Say yes to their smores late! Came in on a Sunday afternoon and it was quiet inside. We ordered zucchini bread, smores latte and a pecan pie latte. We couldn't tell the difference between the two lattes but that zucchini bread was gone in seconds. Come in and look through their selection, some whimsical one along with some popular second hand books. They also have a kids section we loved! Worth the drive to Boulder City
google avatar

Jessie G.

Yelp
Loosey goosey staff who are not great baristas.. Coffee was burnt and undrinkable. An Americano I sent back and the drip I asked to replace it with, thinking I'd have better luck. My baby's drink didn't have the sweetener he asked for. Uncomfortable stools if you get stuck at one of the wall tables.

Yelp
This little coffee shop is an absolute gem! Tucked away in a small town, it has all the cozy charm you'd hope for and more. The menu is impressively diverse for a place its size offering everything from classic coffee drinks to creative seasonal specials, matcha, and even fun dessert options. Whether you're in the mood for a strong espresso or something sweet and creamy, you'll find something to love. One of the best parts? They don't just stop at coffee and treats they also sell adorable little trinkets like rings and other small gifts, which makes it feel part café, part boutique. It's the kind of place you wander into for a latte and end up leaving with a cute ring and a slice of cake you didn't know you needed. The vibe is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who clearly care about both their drinks and their customers. It's the kind of place you could spend hours in whether catching up with a friend or enjoying some quiet time. Definitely worth a stop if you're passing through (or lucky enough to live nearby!).

Yelp
Love this coffee shop. Such a cute spot with a bookstore and really sweet staff. I got the mint muddle latte and it was delicious!

Yelp
We come here a few times a year when we're in town visiting family. Their French press is always very nice and we love browsing the books while we're there. We often find something we like. This time, we were in a hurry to eat breakfast so we ordered the avocado toast and the open face breakfast sandwich. They were pretty good overall. The bread is pretty hard to cut through. I'd almost rather have a full sandwich as it probably would be easier to eat. The people are always nice and the restrooms are clean. The service is good. We will be back.

Yelp
Had driven up to Boulder for breakfast/lunch with the family. Afterwards, walking back to the car we saw this place which we didn't know was here. Went in to get a cold brew coffee and a S'mores iced coffee drink, after looking at the menu on the window. What a cute place. It looks tiny from the outside, but the inside is quite spacious with lots of tables, books, just relaxing areas to sit. Also have an area for the kids. The drinks were delicious. Would definitely drive back to Boulder city just to get some more coffee.

Yelp
What a sweet spot to pop into while visiting from out of town. My coconut milk matcha with lavender was the exact right amount of sweet & earthy. It was a pleasant surprise to see folks of all ages enjoying this spot: reading books, playing games and chatting. The book selection was incredible (got myself The Midnight Library - I've been wanting to read this for a while now) and the witchy items like tarot decks & crystals made me so happy. I can't wait to go back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
"Dam!" ;) Super cute and cozy coffee shop within Downtown Boulder City. But not just any coffee shop, a bookstore and children's nook as well! I opted for the Pineapple Express smoothie (strawberry, pineapple, banana, & coconut) & the All Mashed Up (open faced avocado toast, tomatoes, feta, greens & balsamic glaze). Both of which were a 5 out of 5 and would get again! There were plenty of seats, in couch form or chair. The noise level was not loud, so perfect for anyone who likes to study or get work done. The mini bookstore consisted of new and used books with some card games, candles, and mugs for sale. The mini children's nook with children's books and games was such a unique corner. Definitely a well needed stop here, perfect for a quick coffee or snack for the family or just some simple alone time.

Yelp
Went to Hoover Dam but it was closed for a special occasion so we headed to Boulder City to kill some time. Found this place and popped in for a coffee and to browse the books. Coffee was very good, got a cold brew with cream and it was yummy. All our coffees were good. Service was good, moved fast Book store is very small. Nice selection of stuff but not a lot of books

Yelp
I love coming to Dam roast house when I'm in Boulder City. It has a really chill vibe, the baristas are always really helpful and there are so many yummy drinks! I recently got the butterbeer latte and a toast. I forgot what it was called, but it had almond butter, fruit, granola and honey. It was so so good. Definitely come check out this cute coffee shop! They also have really cute random things you can buy.

Yelp
The environment is relaxing and enjoyable, children friendly. Hot chocolate is amazing. Staff are friendly. Nothing went wrong

Yelp
Very nice coffee shop! Wish they were in my home town! Love the vibe. Very nice staff and customers. My coffee latte was to perfection . Honey lavender with coconut and almond milk mix . Excellent! Thank you
google avatar

Yelp
I have to say "Dam" good coffee and vibes. This coffee shop/book store is cozy. Coffee is locally roasted, our group of 4 all enjoyed our drinks. I had the cafe au lait. The book section of the cafe surprisingly has great books available. I'd recommend if looking for a pick-me-up in the area.
google avatar

Jerome A.

Yelp
The ambiance here was inviting and conveniently located in Boulder. The coffee was delicious and service was quick and friendly. If you're in town definitely drop by and take a look. They have a little Library and ample space and seating to do some studying or reading while enjoying your coffee.
google avatar

Meily A.

Yelp
Pretty extensive menu. I got the latte with almond milk which was good. The food looked good too but I didn't try any. Service was good. Location is nice.

Yelp
Down on Main Street you'll find this Dam roast house and bookstore. It's bigger inside then I expected. I stopped by to grab a drink on my way out of town. They have a variety of iced and cold drinks, I grabbed a hot chai with almond milk. They also had pastries with three different gf items to chose from, I wasn't hungry but I did like that they had more then one gf item. There was two people in front of me and a few other people already waiting for their drinks so it did take a bit longer then expected to get my drink out. Once I did have it in hand, it was hot so needed it to cool down a bit. It was a bit overly spiced for my taste but it was still good, I'll prolly get it iced next time or I'll try the matcha.
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Get in on this gem. Mostly locally sources. Coffee is incredible. Staff is always pleasant and courteous. Prices are average. The vibe is great. Seating area is pretty big for a coffee cafe and super clean. Bookstore is open and attached. Great location entering into BC. They have a wide selection so, if you're into straight black coffee (I recommend) or boujee drinks, they'll have you covered. Try there not so secret secret menu as well. If you want something a bit different, my go to is either their Honeybee Latte (iced or hot) or their chai tea (iced or hot). You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
I got the cinnamon toast crunch iced latte and it was so good! My boyfriend got the vanilla latte and we tried each others. It was also yummy, but we both agreed the cinnamon toast crunch was the best!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
A Dam authentic local coffee shop with an EXCELLENT library, quality coffee and tasty food. I thoroughly enjoyed the egg and bacon on ciabatta bread smeared with deli mustard. My cold brew with heavy cream was delightful - no complaints, lots of praise. My only issue, no refills on coffee. Knowing how cheap it is, I was disappointed the barista wouldn't support my caffeine addiction without another $5 purchase... Starbucks does it! But this tastes much better than corporate crappy coffee. I find this shop much better than Coffee Cup down the street. You can actually work here!
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
Nice array of food and drink options. The latte I ordered was made to perfection. The establishment is clean and spacious. Friendly staff. Attached to a cool little bookstore. Good space for doing work or for chilling.

James B.

Yelp
Stopped in today for a coffee, place very is clean and relaxing environment while enjoying some great coffee! Friendly staff, we will return very soon, thanks !
google avatar

Wicke T.

Yelp
We walked over after having some bad coffee at the coffee cup and this is one of the worst cappuccinos we've ever had, maybe is the worst. You also get a sewer smell when you walk in . We came here instead of the place across the street, looks like that was possibly a mistake
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Needed some coffee on the way to Hoover Dam. People always talk about the other coffee shop in town but I saw the crowd and how noisy it was I decided to look elsewhere. I stumbled on to this place called Dam Roast which I thought was a quiet and cozy. The girls up front were as friendly as can be and they serve up a decent variety of brews and desserts. I wound up getting this fruit tea which I thought was delicious and this waffle dessert that was also very delicious. Place was quiet enough to enjoy reading some of my social feeds while getting ready to drive to the Dam.
google avatar

john m.

Yelp
I love this place. They have a great variety of baked goods and prepared foods too. Excellent place to come curl up with a book over a latte
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Great coffee, cute kids corner, nice vegan options. We needed something better than a Starbucks to power out road trip and Dam Roast House provided! They also very helpfully filled 5 water bottles with ice water in preparation for our dam outing. The oat milk was a creamy barista blend - fellow oat milk drinkers, have you noticed other coffee shops going with cheaper watery oat milks - yuck? Not dam roast house, you'll find quality milk alternatives and flavorful espresso here. We got hot drinks and some vegan quick breads for the family and made quick work of them while our baby was thrilled to get a break from his car seat to play with the toys in the kids corner. The only downside was the banana bread had a touch of freezer burn flavor - it must be batch baked. The zucchini bread and coffee cake were perfection, home baked taste complete with freshly milled flax eggs. And the vegan breakfast sandwich sounded tempting - not an afterthought but a great menu item in its own right with arugula, just egg and maybe a tomato chutney?

Yelp
The coffee here was good, and the decor is super cute! I was so excited when I saw this place also had a bookstore. I think the term bookstore is a little bit of an oversell though. They have a few shelves, but I truly would have thought they were closer to part of the decor than a bookstore had I not seen the sign. It would be a four star, but the vibes were bad. Everyone there definitely gives off "locals only" vibes. I live in Vegas and visit Boulder City because I have friends there, so I'm aware that some people are more okay with out-of-towners than others, but I didn't get one smile from anyone. No greetings, no helpful coffee suggestions when I had a hard time deciding, no "thank you!" or "enjoy your coffee!" I haven't caught bad vibes that palpable in a while. I couldn't wait to leave, but I did enjoy my coffee.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
So cute and quaint, and located right in the heart of BC. Staff was very nice and quick. Decor was light and clean; lots of area to sit and chat. Loved the book areas, and the children's area was such a bonus. They offer small business sales as well blind date books! The menu is a good size but they have a small "secret" menu which was a fun addition! Ordered the spumoni latte, half sweet, and it was the perfect sweetness. I think they use monin syrups, (I'll have to double check) which isn't a deal breaker, just not my favorite. Got a chocolate and orange/cran muffin, amazing!! Great flavor, so light and fluffy, perfect little size to snack on. I can't wait to go back and actually spend some time in there.
google avatar

Colby W.

Yelp
Absolute homerun! Avocado Toast, açaí bowl, and mint iced coffee were all some of the best I've ever had ! Very fresh ingredients, especially the fruit. Service was exceptional as well.
google avatar

Nathan S.

Yelp
Is a nice and cozy small town feel with a library and sitting area. The coffee was good, they had a nice food and drink menu with explanations which is easy to understand. They also had pastries made from Fleming bakery. It's in a nice quaint part of town in Boulder City.
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
Great cup of coffee. Friendly staff. Great building and decor. When I need a good cup of coffee I grab a drip Brazilian coffee from Adam Roast House.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
I am glad to see a coffee shop in downtown Boulder City. We actually talked to a nice local couple whilst having our coffee.
google avatar

Serina A.

Yelp
This is a great spot to grab a latte and work for a few hours if you need to study or what not. The girls at the counter were sweet and the latte was pretty good! I stopped in today for the first time and I was very impressed with the space inside. It's very roomy and welcoming and, honestly, I would come here often if I lived in the area! The latte was decent, I ordered a S'MORES LATTE and it had a cute little presentation, just wasn't my favorite for the price. I've had lattes and milk teas from all over and this place is a little pricey, but the hospitality is WORTH IT and I would come back just to support this wonderful business. Boulder City has needed a spot like this for many years and I'm so glad this one has popped up!! With the quality they provide, I am sure they are here to stay.

Yelp
What an adorable coffee shop/bookstore in the heart of downtown Boulder City! My parents and I stopped by Dam Roast House after my grandpa's memorial service at a nearby church. Despite coming out to Boulder City a hundred times, I've never been here before, but my parents have. It was a busy Saturday afternoon so it was a little difficult to find nearby parking, eventually we did find a parking spot a few blocks away. This little coffee shop can be found across the street from Beer Zombies. Their coffee did not disappoint at all! I tried the blended s'mores latte and my parents both got an iced latte. The s'mores latte came with a marshmallow on top and it was the bomb! My parents said that their lattes were very good too. They also have many vegan food and drink options for the vegan lover in anyone. We live in Henderson but I got myself a punch card, where I get a free drink on my 11th visit. Service was excellent and prompt and I'm looking forward to returning next time I come back to Boulder City.
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
Friendly staff Delicious coffee Fair prices AND a bookstore too! I loved that they had a used book section.‍ I tried the Cinnamon Toast latte and enjoyed every last drop. We just passed through this time. If we ever come back, I'd definitely pop in again. The pin that I purchased was the perfect token to symbolize my little camp getaway.
google avatar

Trina W.

Yelp
Lovely little spot. Nicely decorated, great service and a wonderful selection. They have vegan options and gluten free options. I had the cinnamon crunch latte and vegan coffee cake. It was delicious

Yelp
Dam Roast House is an adorable spot to grab coffee, tea, smoothies, or a light bite in Boulder City. This cute coffee shop is located on the main drive of the historical area of Boulder City. It's an older building with charm. The inside looks like they pieced together two shops. There is plenty of seating and lounge areas to stay and enjoy your coffee or food. They even have a small bookstore in the shop. The employees have always been friendly and acknowledged me right away. It was quick to place my orders. When I was down here for the 4th of July Damboree I stopped in for an Iced Berry Hibiscus Tea. They actually brewed the tea fresh so allow a few minutes for the steeping process. This was overly strong on the berry flavor. I didn't care for this. Yesterday I stopped in specifically for a Spumoni Latte. Yes, a Spumoni Latte! If you aren't familiar, this is chocolate, cherry, and pistachio. It was SO good! I really enjoyed sipping this on the drive home. My husband enjoyed his Pumpkin Pie Latte. How fun that they are still offering pumpkin as an option. I'll look forward to trying more of their delicious coffee next time I'm in Boulder City.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
This little coffee shop was surprisingly good for being in a small, touristy area. It is bright and open with plenty of seating. They have food options and they even sell some books in the back. I ordered my usual latte and it did take a longer than usual amount of time but it is a small shop. The drink was good. The milk was at a good temperature and the consistency was pretty good as well. The barista was not really able to draw any latte art but the flavor and feel of the drink was good. They do have both paper cups and ceramic so ask for the ceramic if you are staying to drink. Overall, a nice little shop for a coffee break.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
Love this place! It's aesthetic and cute, has plenty of seating, and a great coffee menu. I just wish they had more regular pastry options instead of so many vegan ones lol
google avatar

Paige L.

Yelp
Such a gem! We stumbled upon this place looking for a coffee. I had no idea they served food until we arrived. I was happy to see they had a vegan food item, "the vegan" toast. It was really good! If I ordered it again I'd order extra tomatoes. For coffee, I ordered the mocha monster with soy milk. It was bomb! Inside was clean with a variety of seating options. I'd recommend for groups of no more than 4, as they didn't have larger tables available. Street parking is available. I had to park a few streets over, but it wasn't a bad walk.
google avatar

Marci P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a cup of black coffee and a chocolate croissant on our way to do the Historical Railroad Trail to the Hoover Dam. Both were delicious! Street parking was easy. They also have some books available for purchase and seating areas. Would highly recommend!

Sissy R.

Yelp
Love their coffee and their lattes but the lids come off too easy.the lids tear. Not sure why?

Brian E.

Yelp
Such a great spot to chill with an excellent coffee and light snack!!! So good we drove out from Vegas two days in a row!!!

renee b.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop great vibe! Coffee selection is very good service friendly. Love the addition of the books for sale.
google avatar

Mia K.

Yelp
This is a great place to go to if you're looking to be productive while drinking some great quality coffee! I went here with some friends to get some work done and found this to be a super comfortable environment for both working and chatting. There's many different seating options, along with a good variety of reasonably priced drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! Probably the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Excellent vanilla lattes. Baristas are friendly and efficient. Cafe is light and airy with room to sit and stand. Water is easy to get yourself! Nice to sit outside on the sidewalk bench to enjoy treats.
