Best coffee that I've had in NYC at D'Amico Coffee in Brooklyn. Dozens of choices. Got hazelnut iced coffee today. They give you the cup with however much ice you want and you can fill up on your own. Plenty of ingredients that you can put in there like sugar water, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. Buy local! They've been in business nearly a century with the original family owners.

Good service, friendly and fast. They have chairs and tables inside and maximum is 1 hour for sitting.

Nice Italian deli. Really authentic feel. The sausage egg and cheese roll is very good.

If you are the type of person who professes to care about coffee at all, abd want freshly roasted coffee beans there is no better place to go in all of South Brooklyn. Third wave coffee shops have NOTHING on D'Amico's and you're a chump if you think that a coffee chain from Seattle sells better beans. Support this legacy old school local business.

Love this low key neighborhood spot. I used to buy my coffee beans at Puerto Rico but this is my go-to now. They have great kona beans at a reasonable price, and the people who work here have always been attentive.

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Brooklyn. Service is efficient and friendly. I have frequently come to this coffee shop for many years now and for good reason. D'Amico coffee has the best, flavorful, and robust coffee available. Plus it's a small business, family owned and operated, for as long as it has been in existence, well over 60 years. I've tried all of their options of iced coffee flavors. My favorites are the Nutella and also their White Christmas which are incredible. There is a station where you can add simple syrup, or a milk of your choosing etc... I've also purchased different flavors of their beans and had them ground for my drip coffee machine. I encourage everyone to try their coffee, at least once. That's all that it will take in order for you to become a regular customer.

This establishment has seen some rough times recently since my review back in '16! Covid and deaths in the family to name a few. This business is still owned and operated by the same family. D' Amico continues to serve the best coffee ever --iced or hot--and I continue to love the White Christmas blend all year long. They're a roastery so you can buy a variety of coffee here whether whole coffee beans or ground. Nutella, Hazelnut and good old Columbian are some popular picks. I dropped by this morning to have a quick breakfast: 2 eggs any style served with toast and home fries. All for $6.95 and quite good/above average. Coffee is additional and self serve. They have a pretty good menu offering a variety for breakfast and lunch. Place your order at the counter but it will be served to your table if dining in. What I truly miss about the old D'Amico is the set up prior to the pandemic. It was more cozy, private and amenable to breakfast/lunch with friends or working alone on your laptop. Though indoor seating is available (just a few tables) the entire ambience is gone. What's also gone are some familiar local faces who have since passed away. Despite this, D'Amico has a good fan base: locals who have lived in the neighborhood for a long time, newcomers just moving to the area or those dropping by for the first time. It's a sign of the times when things change and evolve. One thing that doesn't change is their coffee. It's the best.

White Christmas iced coffee is the best. Breakfast is not bad either. The guy who works the register is super nice. Inside is clean and small. Few tables inside and outside. Plenty for me.

I've been coming to the area to get my nails done for over 4 years and I never noticed that there was a coffee stop across the street. I finally stepped in for a coffee fix after getting my nails done and it was quite nice. They have so many flavors available and you can fix it to your own liking at the condiments bar. I like that, because most times baristas overload the half&half when I ask for a tiny smidge. Staff were friendly and nice. I would definitely come again the next time I'm getting my nails done.

It is my first time ordering from the D'Amico food menu. Delivery service was early (yay!). The food was still hot (double yay!). The scrambled eggs were real eggs, and cooked through. The bacon was tasty and well cooked, no raw sections on the strips. The pancakes were fluffy and light, not tasteless but not overwhelming either. Just the right amount of flavor with the syrup. The western omelette was a little over cooked, but the ingredients were fresh, the peppers were crispy, and the ham was flavorful. A really good breakfast experience. I will definitely use them again to try other dishes on their menu. And the coffee! Wowser!!

So happy my boyfriend and I stopped in here Saturday. Such a great coffee shop! The kind gentleman who helped us recommended some coffees and we bought three different kinds/flavors. He was very knowledgeable! We also got a large iced coffee (it's legit large lol). I got a large iced latte with almond milk. It was good! Huge! Prices aren't bad at all. You can get a quarter pound of coffee and they grind it for you. We loved the names of the coffees too. We will definitely be back here next time we're in this part of Brooklyn. :)

Solid coffee choice, both a weekend treat and a daily staple. Affordable coffee beans custom ground to order. If you're unsure about a blend, you can try their top selections in either hot or iced variety. I typically do this for their more expensive offerings. I haven't tried any of their espresso drinks, but considering that most of their counter space is devoted to their drips, it's basically a drip place. Same with their food menu. I've ordered ahead once before, but they only recieved the order once I got there so I had to wait anyway. Not much more than basic deli/diner food but again affordable and not bad. Wonderful neighborhood spot that has been here for a while and I hope will stay for a while more.

It is actually cheaper to buy online and have it shipped to your house than going into the store. Free shipping at $50. The Signature dark and Brazil dark was $2.00 a pound more instore! I spoke to the female owner and she was not helpful in providing an answer! Why waste your time traveling to the store?

Ordered through Grubhub...was really looking forward to breakfast...got someone else's order....not sure who made the error, but now here i am with 3 bagels with cream cheese and jelly, gross...super dark coffee terrible...and a cold cut sandwich which i dont eat...Not a great way to start a Saturday.

Great Italian style coffee. Boyfriend got a double shot for $3 which he said was very traditional and was citrusy. My iced coffee was a pour yourself and $3.50 for a medium and came in hazelnut, Nutella, Christmas, and regular. They had alternative milk choices. Simple and good.

OMG, D'Amico Coffee was actually terrific. It is pleasant place. Every item that we ordered was very fresh and flavorful. Crew is really polite and will help you with everything. Definitely will come back to this place always.

Do you drink coffee and/or know people who drink coffee? Then you should know about D'Amico. I was eating brunch with a friend down the street, and she mentioned that she needed to buy some coffee, and that she'd probably just go to the Starbucks on Smith. Absolutely not. Not while we're in Carroll Gardens. Not on my watch. Not while D'Amico exists. I brought her over, and watched as her eyes widened in wonder. I watched her marvel over the machine mixing and roasting beans right in the front of the shop. I watched her peruse all the options, finally picking a blend (organic, fair trade Sumatra). I listened as her and the helpful coffee guy discussed the type of coffee machine she had, and watched him grind the beans into a bag. I watched her pay, and smiled when she said that while not cheap, it was a better price per pound than Starbucks. And then I allowed her to kiss my ring for showing her where she SHOULD be buying coffee.

Go to spot for coffee. The beans (roasted in-house) are the best I've had in NYC. Staff is also really pleasant and helpful. Anyone saying they'd rather go to stumptown has their head in the sand. Coffee here is cheaper, better, and you get to support a local business instead of an evil corporation (stumptown is owned by JAB holdings, look it up)

I liked stepping into this space and felt like I was in a European cafe! There's so many coffee choices and they have an array of desserts to go with your caffeinated drink too. I could totally enjoy reading a book here while sipping on coffee or just catching up with friends. I wouldn't do work here if you need WiFi cause there seems to be a time limit for WiFi access. They also have food food but didn't get a chance to check it out yet.

I've been going to this place since I was 8 years old, lots of history with this place, coffee is great and the breakfast sandwiches are awesome!

Been here 2 times and thought everything was good but I was wrong. The coffee is lovely but thr customer service sucks. Big time Came there the first time and they was nice but faking it. They showed there true colors today Aug 28, 2015. Yesterday some latino looking dude was being very rude and showing he don't care about his job. His tone was horrible. Also I try to ask him questions about the place and he ignored me like come on now. Day two was worst I try to be accepting about maybe the worker had a bad day. But no he treated everyone differently than I did. But the worker treated me like garbage. Like I was a lost cost. So here is the verdict. I am not coming back here again. To the manager. I really love the coffee. But thr service is horrible. Also to add more problems. As in walked out the door the Spanish dude Said in Spanish Me alegro de ese negro negro se fue. su propio culo feo Thank god for Google translate because that was a big insult so thank you for showing your true colors. And I am not coming back. Good night.

I have been coming here for about 2 years. Always smells great. Was lucky enough to be here once while they were roasting and that was cool to watch. Generally we stick to the hot and iced coffee. Coffee here doesn't have a burnt taste to it. We also eat breakfast here sometimes. The egg sandwiches are good but I love their buttered rolls. So soft! Edit: Forgot to mention the staff... really nice and helpful, no complaints there.

Popped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Americano was ok. The turkey avocado egg wrap had zero flavor, so bland I couldn't even finish it :( It seems like this is a popular place for brewed coffee and beans. D'Amico has a roaster in the back where they roast their own beans in-house. The coffee smells are deliciousloy intoxicating. I would definitely go back to try a coffee and skip the food. They do offer free wifi with a 30 minute limit.

Good coffee. Nice atmosphere. Minimum BS. Across the street from Court Pastry Shop. Good iced coffee on a hot day. Pressed tin ceilings, cute tables, good coffee. Bathrooms at the back to the left. Good place. I bought a ceramic mug and they gave me a cool shopping bag. I like free stuff.

Great for coffee but don't even think of having a sandwich. My friend & I ordered 2 genoa salami sandwiches. No exaggeration, 2 paper thin slices. The slicing machine had to be set on the thinnest setting to get it that thin. Even folded & overlapping, it didn't equal 1 decent size slice. When we complained, the non English speaking staff didn't understand us. Funny, they understood us when we placed the order. Second issue, the bathrooms have no sink. There is a sink around the corner from the bathrooms & is kind of hidden. I couldn't wash my hands before eating my lunch ' it was very distressing to me eating with the same hands that just.... All in all, a very annoying experience. No one there cares. 3 stars because of the good coffee. Everything else lacking.

I tried the hazelnut coffee, which was yummy with no sugar needed. I didn't purchase any whole beans coffee since my French press have been packed away back at my parents, but I must say as a first timer this place got the charms of being a good local spot where I can imagine regulars hanging out there all day. I came after work, and arrived half a hour before they close. I managed to get some work done, and even stayed there about 10 minutes over with no one bothering me or telling me anything. The staff is ...(thinking of the right words) most pleasing group of people that you can find in a coffee shop. They are mainly older age Italians which is adorable because even though the store got hipsterized the heart and soul of the shop still remains through the staff. I was greeted by a lady in the counter that told the other patron to wait a minute so she can serve me because I got there first. She also guided me through the condiment bar and brought out soy milk for me with no complaints. When asked what time the store closes (which is 20 minutes later), she assure me that I can stay until the closing time. (I actually ended up staying later since there were so many locals still in the sitting area while they started cleaning up.) Overall, this place is far from home but I am definitely glad I visited.

What a great coffee shop! Came here with a groupon for $30 worth of food or drink. Got some fresh beans for grinding at home. There are so many amazing varieties and the staff was so helpful and nice! I also picked up an ice coffee to go while I was there in "White Christmas", so delish! The prices are so reasonable for the two sizes of coffee. They even gave me an awesome reusable tote with my purchase! I love this place and will be sure to come back!

For those seeking coffee: Go here for the drip coffee. Avoid if you are looking for a milk coffee. The cappuccino was not properly made, by a long shot. The service was friendly.

Dark roast house coffee is amazing! It's my favorite coffee by far, very flavorful without the bitterness. Buy the beans and grind them at home.

This little coffee shop is SO GOOD. They've been roasting their own coffee in the shop since sometime in the 1940's, and the coffee is BRILLIANT. It's not overly acidic, it's not super floral tasting like a lot of the bougie shops popping up around town... it's just great, dark, complex, coffee. And the breakfast sandwiches are pretty spot-on, too. Also, sometimes they'll give you a free small coffee with a breakfast sandwich. I mean.. what? Best deal in the city.

I have to admit, D'Amico Coffee was definitely magnificent. Sooooo good and well priced. Every thing that we purchased was extra fresh and tasty. The servers are pretty welcoming and attentive. D'Amico Coffee is just awesome.

Hours are not very reliable. I have come here before and the place was closed for a private party. Make sure to call before to confirm they are open. This issue aside, their Brazilian beans are fantastic. If you get the Groupon they offer, it is also an awesome deal. Enjoy!

Surprised at the great reviews of this place. I visited 4 times and had a few complaints: Flimsy cups & supplies: this coffee shop has clearly not invested in presentation. The coffee lids are flimsy and see through, the straws are weak and bend/break, there are no stirrers provided, coffee is self-serve. Poor / sour taste: I was surprised because the roaster in the back suggests that the coffee ingredients here are fresh but the espresso was bitter all of the times that I tried it. I will say that the staff was very kind and attentive - no issues there. Also it looked like people were having a nice time relaxing and reading in the back. It does have more of a cheap breakfast place vibe than a fancy coffee shop. However, the prices were fair and I didn't feel like I was overpaying for a hipster vibe like I do at Blue Bottle and Birch sometimes.

I was banking on the good reviews. Another let down. Come on, Brooklyn, really?!?! I tried the Red Hook blend, Hazelnut and White Christmas. None of them had any body or robustness whatsoever. This is the kind of coffee that needs cream and sugar to be drinkable. I guess if you're more of a mild, breakfast blend kind of person you would probably like D'Amico's coffee. I, on the other hand, will never return.

Legit coffee. They make a proper espresso and proper cappuccino. There's a reason why the old school Italians still hang there. They're always kind to my kids. Back in the day, they would shoo away my Husband when he was a kid because he liked to stop by often and smell the beans roasting.

Easily the best coffee anywhere. I've travelled from Florida just to get a taste of this sweet brew. And their sandwiches are on point! Stop by if you're anywhere near D'Amico's. If I had a coffee shop Top 20, this would be #1!

D'Amico may be one of my top five accidental finds in NY since moving here four years ago. Dat scent ya'll. I'd been brewing Stumptown or Blue Bottle at home for years and while they're a mighty fine family of gourmet coffees I started to resent paying almost fifteen bucks for a half pound of beans. I've found D'Amico to be just as good for half the price and also a way to support your local caffeine slinger. If you can't find what you're lookin for here then it don't exist my friend. The Gowanus blend pours like motor oil and backs a rich and bitter punch that will make you wince at your office's k-cup machine. Buy whole bean and get a grinder. Biiiiiiiiig difference and worth the extra minute of prep.

Really good sandwiches. My wife got the Pastrami and I got the buffalo chicken. They were served on toasted fresh rolls and were really tasty. Well done!

I really wanted to like this old-school coffee shop. I wandered over from my office, hoping to find something better than the drip joe available there. Sadly, the office brew was better than what D'Amico served -- by a long shot. The old-school charm of the ambience sadly meant old-school coffee methods. It's been awhile since I've had that abrasive gasoline-tinged brown water we used to accept as coffee. Given how much the game has been upped, this sad coffee shop seems stuck in the slow lane, falling further and further behind. They get points for nostalgia -- yes coffee did suck that bad back in the 80s!

I was a little sad walking in recently to see that they've "hipsterized" the decor and layout, but thankfully the coffee is still great. I guess I can't get too sad: I'm a 20something transplant that buys whole bean coffee and writes Yelp reviews for heavens sake; they hipsterized for me. That being said, the coffee and the staff are still first rate. The shop smells like heaven, and they've got at least 20 different kinds of coffees to choose from. Whether you like something light and blonde or something dark and bitter, they have a range of both single bean and blends. And if you don't know what you want? The staff is more than willing to help. We stopped by at an off time (a weekday evening) and were able to chat with the employees for about 15 minutes, before walking away with two different kinds of coffee that have both been excellent. I can't wait to try every kind (except the light blends because those just aren't my style), and in the long run, I'd rather have a hipster D'Amico than none at all.

I haved tried several of their beans and so far the only one that stands out is the French Vanilla. Well balanced vanilla to coffee flavor with the coffee flavor the best of what I have tried. I will update with any other standouts I discover as I have a few more to go through. Be watchful when they fill the bean bags they tend to try and hide the scale with certain beans I suspect to cheat you somehow, minus 1 star for that.

Walking into D'Amico makes me wish I grew up in Carroll Gardens. It has that family/home-y feel to it, that's harder to find now a days. I prefer to buy my coffee here, rather than at a chain market. Why, you ask? Because they roast their beans every day, on site* and have been doing so since 1948. Every time I go here to buy a pound or so of coffee I am warmly greeted and the staff are always so nice and friendly. I love walking home with a bag of freshly ground coffee and can't wait to brew a pot. I haven't yet had any sandwiches, but I hear they're pretty tasty. Ah, next time for sure. D'Amico, please don't ever change. Thank you. *Yea, I know there's a self-entitled yuppie/hipster uproar over the coffee roasting. My message to those who passive-aggressively called 311 and complained about the smell of coffee: Get a life and get over yourselves.

The aroma of freshly roasted coffee warrants five stars on its own. The small, mom-and-pop feel of the joint (complete with requisite old men shootin' the breeze on a bench outside or at the tables in the back) make this place so much more appealing than any high-falutin' coffee house. Add to that the coffee is wicked good and we have a winner, folks. Maybe I shouldn't mention this 'cause it might damage my credibility, but I've never liked black coffee. I like it light and sweet. The Copenhagen blend at D'Amico, however, might just change my cream and sugar ways. Smooth and delicious with nary a hint of burnt bitterness, this black coffee is life-changing. For me, anyway. And just when I thought it couldn't get better than a wink and a thick Brooklyn-accented "Take care" from the guy working the counter, I hear the older Italian guy telling someone he's "the lover." I have no idea what he was talking about, but I'm a lover, too--of this little coffee roaster.

This place is awesome. There's no basket of corny world music CD's by the register, no bespectacled wannabes blogging by the front window, no self-congratulatory display of "fair trade" coffees complete with long-winded, patronizing explanatory pamphlets about how we can all "get green". Ask for some sickly sweet fake coffee drink and you're likely to get laughed out of the store. And that's as it should be, nancy boy! D'Amico is an old school, unapologetically un-PC place. The owners are serious about coffee and it shows. Huge open burlap sacks of coffee beans, white aprons on the staff, decor that doesn't seem to have changed much in thirty years, unsmiling patrons--it's all there. Be ready to order and don't give anybody any guff, okay? The smell when you walk in is incredible, perfect, exactly what you hoped it would be--roasting beans, tasty baked goods, a faint hint of smoke. These guys know their coffee and but good. Don't think you can bullshit your way through a coffee conversation with the staff like I saw some random douchebag try to do on my first visit there; he left the store in abject shame after getting schooled about the difference between some particular roast he wanted and "regular beans". Fool! You cannot dupe the coffee man. Not only do we buy our beans here and I stop in frequently for the best cup in the neighborhood, but they even put a gift basket together for us by special request and delivered it to my midwife in Windsor Terrace--no extra charge. That's great service. That's D'Amico. It's a Brooklyn institution for some very good reasons. Go.

This is one of the few 'old school' Carroll Gardens places left in the neighborhood. Walk past what is left of the old-time Italians sitting out front no matter what the weather* and walk into coffee heaven. I'm not a coffee drinker though, so what I really come to D'Amicos for is the sandwiches. Yes, this coffee shop makes sandwiches, and they're amazing. Sure, Carroll Gardens is a great place to live, and gentrification has brought some cool places to the neighborhood. BUT it has also taken away some great ones, specifically Italian sandwich shops. There is nowhere else around that you can get real imported prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and bakery fresh bread** If you're looking for a great sandwich this is the place to go. *At least one of them is an Uncle of mine **for only 6.50, yes 6.50

Two words: fantastic coffee! I have been eyeing this place for awhile, and I finally went in today. I tried the Red Hook blend with a tiny bit of chocolate coffee on top, and it was amazing! The coffee was very strong and had a clean taste. We also had the chocolate chip banana cake, and it was moist and sweet- just as expected. Can't wait to go back and try the other flavors!

You know the 50's Hollywood version of Brooklyn you think of? Go to this place (and the whole surrounding area basically) and you get the real life version. Walking into D'Amicos is like walking into the past, a really charming past. If you LOVE coffee you'll love a lot about this place. You can smell the coffee a'roasting from at least a block away. The sandwiches are great. The older Italian guys who hang out in front are keepers. Love This Place!

This will be my 25th year of House Blend Dark addiction; simply my favorite and only coffee I drink. As a matter of course at work I bring 1/2 lb bags to colleagues and customers around the country and Canada. It is always happily received and I always get thanked and told how amazing the coffee is. D'Amico's is the same homey neighborhood place as it's always been even after the renovation and it's always a home coming (every 2 weeks to feed my jones). Many of the low ratings on here have nothing to do with the coffee...can't find the sink outside the bathroom (the one you have to walk past to get to to get to the bathroom)?! Really? Paper thin meat? Those sandwiches are overloaded. Etc. Don't ever change D'Amico's! Your authenticity is refreshing and your coffee is the best (so sayeth countless American and Canadian cities and towns, Botswana, South Africa, and more).

This is the basicly not even worth thinking about. It is just the best place to buy coffee beans, hands down. The people are local and I think have each been working there since the begining of time. I have tried a few Colombian and Kenyan blends that were good, the carroll gardens blend that was a little to light for my perticular brand, the red hook blend which was good and little darker, and the house blend. I like the house blend for drip but my beau got it esspresso ground and WOOOO! So damn good. The pounds range from $8 to $14ish? So its not like you are spending more than you would at the grocery. Another great little specialty spot in Carroll Gardens!

The White Christmas Holiday Blend iced coffee may sound like an oxymoron, but once you have it, you don't care because it is on point! I hope they keep this blend as an iced option all summer. Christmas in July!
