Damo Tea House - Review - Arts District - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"One of our favorite matcha spots in Koreatown is now expanding with a second location in the Arts District. This one has the look of an industrial loft with white brick walls, stone counters, wood panelings, and lots of potted greenery. The menu remains mostly the same, with matcha lattes, einspänners, tonics, financiers, and Korean tea snacks, but now there’s way more room to lounge and hang out. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Cathy Park

The place is huge! Tried one of their matches and it was tasty. Very good esthetic and vibe inside. Employees were friendly. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

Been a big fan of Damo in Ktown as their tea’s surely high quality ones. You could totally tell when the place has been constantly busy since the early hype opening days up until today. It’s always kinda annoying when you feel like having it yet need to stand in the long line just to grab a cup. Not to mention the Ktown outlet’s kinda petite so unless you’re coming on weekday, it would be so so hard to get a seat. Thankfully, they recently expand into Downtown with much bigger space. The venue gives that industrial vibe and in a way looks like a co-working space setup with large sharing tables. As you can imagine, having bigger space doesn’t mean it’s quieter at all. Still long line but good news they can accommodate more guests for seat-in. The venue’s nonetheless packed with people sitting on their laptops and you can see not moving for hours. The menu offered is pretty much similar to Ktown one, and TBH everything on their menu don’t fail. My dynamic duo from there will defo be their matcha and hojicha. Those like cream top, go for the Einspanner. Super bold tea flavor without bothering earthy taste at all. The nibbles are kinda pricey for the size. Recently I tried the Mugwort financier and it’s just okay IMHO, nothing that special to call out. Will stick with the drink!

Happy to be the first review💚 I’m so glad that damo opened a location in the Arts District! Their matcha is always always good. I’ll be back for sure.

parking isn’t easy but there’s $5 public parking across the shop if you’re willing to pay

Great staff, enjoyed my hojicha Einspänner (9/10: nutty flavor with subtle amount of sweetness from the cream), cool benches in the back, nice tables, and stools weren’t too bad to sit on for long hours. Woulda been cool if there was music to fill the space. Overall, the space is nice, much larger than the other location, more seatings, and the Einspänner is great as usual.

The space and drinks both locked in. Great addition to arts district! I hope they have online ordering down the line

Iced matcha latte (half sweet, whole milk) was so good. Matcha einspanner was yummy too. Much more spacious than the ktown location, but harder to find parking nearby.

Black Einspanner: my favorite here. the cream isn't overly sweet and the Americano pairs well if you like stronger coffee taste Hojicha Einspanner: I should have asked for less sweetener since I preferred the hojicha to be more like the strength of the black Einspanner Seaweed Financier: I loved this subtle umami flavor and the buttery quality of the pastry Fig & Cream Cheese Financier: my favorite Financier and i loved that it had a mugwort base It's a much bigger space than their ktown spot so there is lots of seating available but the benches are without backing so it might not be comfortable for working though we definitely saw people with laptops. Free street parking is available and wasn't bad on a Friday morning around 9am, but I could see it being tough on a weekend.
