"A neon-lit dining room in the back of an Indian grocery store is home to some of the city’s most vibrant Punjabi eats. Choose from an extensive menu of veggie or meat options, don’t forget the paratha, and enjoy an affordable and no-nonsense meal served without ceremony on a styrofoam plate." - Caroline Coral, Sarah Maiellano

I’ll definitely be coming back here again. I’ve not liked Indian food until I tried the food here. I don’t think some of the food here is sold at other Indian restaurants. The ordering counter is in the back of the grocery store. You write your order on a note, pass it to them, and wait. The wait is totally worth it. Searching up the dishes in google helped me understand what they were before ordering. I’ll be back many more times.

I've been in Philly for 8-9 months, and I finally managed to go to this place. Even though they have a lot of stuff, it's quite expensive. Well you can't complain about it as it's the only Indian store in 5-6 miles radius. PS - it's smaller than what I imagined from the photos.

Incredible spot to get legit Indian food in West Philly. Probably the best Indian in town. Not to mention they have all the spices you could imagine in bulk quantities, a crazy rice aisle, and even massive tubs of yogurt to boot. Please please please support this gem of an establishment.

Oh damn, one of the best unknown spots in the city. First time I went I was confused but no place has the authentic food like Dana Mandi. Cant recommend this place enough. Will always go back!

6 stars for the saag paneer, palak goat, raita and chai. Minus one for the undersalted, flavorless tandoori chicken (though, at least it was perfectly moist). Good selection of grocery items at decent prices. Would highly recommend the saag and palak dishes. They just do the masalas so well and they are so tender. Can tell they are made with love.

Nice, simple and delicious home cooked food from the nicest Punjabi owners. Over my 2 week stay in Philly, I tried different sabzis and parathas here and not once have I been let down. All the parathas are the best! my personal favorite is aloo paratha with elaichi (cardamom) chai. Saag chicken and Saag paneer taste fantastic. Rajma (and dal makhni) Rice combo reminds me of home. All in all, you can literally eat here everyday.

Great food, homemade and tastes like it. We had parathas, bhindi, goat curry, aloo gobi and they were all delicious. It's a restaurant behind the grocery store and it's truly a hidden gem.
