2 Days in Da Nang

"Rarely visited yet superb, this city institution holds a broad collection from central Vietnamese artists; most works are on the upper floor, organized by medium—oil, silk, sculpture, and more—with the lacquer pieces standing out for their painstaking technique and glistening sheen." - Joshua Zukas

The Fine Arts Museum in Da Nang is a wonderful place to explore for anyone who appreciates creativity and culture. The collection is surprisingly rich, with so many art pieces on display — ranging from traditional Vietnamese works to modern and contemporary styles. Walking through the galleries, you can feel the diversity of artistic expression, from detailed sculptures to vibrant paintings and unique local crafts. The museum is well-organized, making it easy to navigate through different sections. Each room offers something new, and I really enjoyed seeing how Vietnamese culture, history, and daily life are reflected in the artworks. It’s a great balance of heritage and modern imagination. The staff are polite and helpful, and the space is calm, quiet, and comfortable — perfect for taking your time to enjoy each piece. For such an affordable entry, it truly feels like a cultural treasure that many visitors overlook. If you’re in Da Nang and want to experience something beyond beaches and food, I highly recommend spending an afternoon here. It’s inspiring, educational, and gives you a deeper appreciation of the city’s artistic soul.

A small collection of curated local art pieces housed in a nondescript building. Entry fee of vnd20k per person to see 3 floors of gallery with improbable lighting and descriptions. The space deserves better but Ifully understand that funding for the arts can be challenging in this country.

Very nice little museum, but with interesting pieces! We were lucky enough to be there for the Women’s temporary exhibition. Three levels for an all around vision of DaNang art. Ac present in the exhibition room and toilet in each floor. The inly down part is the lighting that should be thought out better to improve the quality of the place. Only 20k entrance ticket totally worth it

This museum is a must-visit. 20,000 VND (cash payment only) is very affordable and reasonable for the quality. Don’t be discouraged by Level 1 — the real treasures await on Levels 2 and 3, where you can truly enjoy the art. It’s quiet, spacious, and fully air-conditioned, creating the perfect environment for peaceful viewing and appreciation. One of its best features is how uncrowded it is, allowing you to take your time with each piece. I especially love how close you can get to some of the artworks — you can examine the intricate details up close, something rarely possible in most international museums where barriers or red lines keep visitors at a distance. Come and enjoy this educational and tranquil attraction — a welcome escape from the constant buzz of city traffic.

Probably my favorite museum in Vietnam. The artwork is so beautiful and extensive from watercolor to sculpture work and my personal favorite lacquer. Was very impressed with the collections. The lighting isn't the best for taking photos of the works but art is better experienced in person anyway so do yourself a favor and stop by.

The perfect place to gain a different view of Da Nang and Vietnam. See all sorts of art as well as historical items and antiquities. Learn about different villages close to the city, and what their specific craft is, such as gold making, stone carving etc. Two floors of visual delights, offering a unique aspect. There was only one other couple when I visited mid day, its not crowded and very affordable.

Looking for a quiet and artsy spot in Da Nang? The Da Nang Fine Arts Museum is a great choice. It's located in a beautiful French colonial building and the atmosphere is very peaceful and pleasant. Here, you can admire over 1,000 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and lacquer work. It's a great opportunity to learn more about Vietnamese art through pieces inspired by local life and traditions.
