Dancing Crab, a Cajun Seafood restaurant, is brought to us by the Tung Lok Group, which at first might be a bit surprising.
Yet, Cajun food is spicy and Cajun seafood can be (or rather is best) eaten with one's hands. That is a great description of Chili Crab and other Singaporean seafood favourites. So in retrospect it makes perfect sense that they're started this concept here.
The lunch menu here is great value, but seafood by weight seems very expensive. So bear that in mind before coming here.
We had a Vivocity-only lunch set with coleslaw, crab noodles, fizzy lemonade and prawns.
The star of the show was 5 prawns in mild signature style. Although it was "mild" it turned out to be a pretty spicy tomato sauce with corn, carrot, potato and sausage inside. The prawns were super fresh (possibly live) and great.
The crab noodles were very tasty. That said they seemed more Chinese style (slippery thin yellow noodles coated with flavourful oil and some crab meat on top).
The coleslaw was very good: tangy, crispy and milky. It was most refreshing and cut the heat of the food.
The fizzy lemonade was normal. It wasn't sweet and I couldn't tell it was fizzy. The lavender lemonade was interesting and sweeter too. Oddly it was pink even though lavender is blue.
The jambalaya (lunch menu item) was not bad. It was a touch less wet than it was supposed to be but was tasty enough and had a fair bit of ingredients inside.
Dessert was beignets aka county fair style fried dough. The crumb was not quite light enough and was a bit inconsistent with some beignets fluffier than others. Other than that they were pretty good and they tasted like they were supposed to, and were dusted with light icing sugar.
Thoughtfully, the branches have sinks in them, so you don't need to go all that far to clean up after massacring a bag of seafood.
