Tucson’s Best New Restaurants - Eater Phoenix

"This tiny cafe hidden in a peaceful nook of downtown regularly mixes up its offerings of its breads and pastries, so peek their Instagram to see the offerings of the week or day. The “Full Moon in Pisces” cake has a cardamom-spiced vanilla cake with blackberry buttercream and fresh blackberries." - Jackie Tran

We had a burrito and it was delicious !! Yummy pastries and coffee. It was our first time here and will definitely be back. Many options to choose from. Excellent customer service!

The dirty chai was not good, not sure why, but it was missing something. What was it missing? No clue. Just was not grinding my gears the right way. I got a sandwich which was actually pretty good. It had meat on it, but cannot remember what it was called, but I went back a second time and got a veggie sandwich, which tasted weird, and I got a burrito which tasted bleh. This place is a hit and miss. Super friendly staff. Super cute building. I usually do not leave food or drink when I go out, but multiple times I have here. They are almost there, but the flavors gotta get there first. It was not bland, but it was not great either. This place is just missing something, but has great potential.

First time to Dandelion Cafe & Bakery and I am already coming back! Very quaint place in historic district of Downtown Tucson. Having a Mocha and Coffe Cake Muffin as I am writing this. Muffin is moist inside and crumbly and Krispy on the outside! Love muffins with this texture. Mocha is good....would have liked more Mocha in though. All the other pastries look delish!! Love finding new local places to visit. They serve breakfast sandwiches and burritos and will definitely try on a later visit! Rosa and Coco were outstanding with service! Go in today and visit! Recommend:))

This star rating is not based on the restaurant as a whole but on my experience on a specific day. I want it to be known that I love this cafe and I visit regularly. Unfortunately, on September 14th my friend and I went to The Dandelion to get some coffee drinks, and we were very disappointed in the quality of our drinks. My friend ordered an iced chai, and now I am not trying to be rude but that is quite the EASIEST drink to make. It's two ingredients and they both come in store bought containers. I ordered a cinnamon brown sugar latte. It tasted like the expresso had been burnt when it was brewed and after a few minutes I could see all the ingredients separating in my drink. I have never ever had this problem before at this cafe or with any other barista at this cafe. I'm not sure the barista working that day really knows what he is doing. I think management should make sure these new employees know how to make the drinks before they are allowed to serve them to the public.

I didn't get a picture of the pastries before we scarfed them down, but everything we tried (cookie, muffin, scone, hot chocolate, tea) was great, and the server was very friendly and helpful.

Google
Cute establishment. Selection is adequate but small for food items (cookies and muffins). Service is at the counter, suggested 15%+ tip is implied by the pay kiosk. When your coffee is ready they yell in the room that, "someone's coffee is on the bar!" for you to leave your seat and go get it (what was i tipping for???)

I had a delicious blueberry muffin. Everything here is made fresh. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to explain the menu. Side note: They even serve their bread at some of the surrounding restaurants.

Yelp
We had to check out a new coffee-bakery-eatery shop this morning and it's a BIG winner...the DANDELION CAFE and BAKERY. Located right next door to the historic Presidio and in the shadow of the Colossal Saguaro by Joe Pagac in a house built in 1907. Historic Perfection. Friendly servers, relaxing and comfortable indoor-outdoor seating in a quiet setting where fabulous pastries are baked by JoJo's each day. We had a cinnamon roll and it was truly heavenly along with the good tasting Decibel coffee. Of all the coffee places we've visited, the Dandelion ranks right at the top. I see this becoming a favorite place to visit all year round. "Owner Carolyn O'Connor and Ben Schneider (Ben's mother is Jo Schneider of LaCo and the former Bentley's House of Coffee and Tea) are a dream team in the local culinary scene. Jo spent more than 10 years running LaCo day before turning control over to her son and O'Connor during the pandemic. Over the years, Jo had set up connections with the Presidio San Agustin del Tucson Museum through a Rio Nuevo grant to open up a new restaurant in the museum. After discussing multiple possibilities of what the space could be, O'Connor and her husband finally landed on turning it into a cafe and bakery."

Yelp
Dandy to stop in! The building is charming. I ordered their breakfast burrito, it came with salsa and it hit the spot. I liked the seasoned potatoes inside and the sunflower tortilla. I also ordered a sandwich for later, the Presidio. It had some tasty fig jam and was like a charcuterie board style sandwich, I enjoyed it. I also had the seasonal maple donut a great tasty treat! The service was friendly and fast. A nice quick breakfast or lunch spot! I'd like to hang out on their patio sometime. Good vibes!

Yelp
Sweet little cafe in the old presidio neighborhood in downtown Tucson. Also owned by the owners of ceres pasta. The shop is quaint and cozy with a delightful yet simple menu of coffee and tea drinks. They also have a pastry selection of in house baked goods. I indulged in the marble pound cake and it was not too sweet, which is right up my alley! There's plenty of searing inside to work or have a coffee catch up. Or you could take your beverage outside to the neighboring outdoor seating. Lovely. I'll be back!

Yelp
Finally made it to this cute little coffee shop. I love the decor and the rooms with couches. The staff were very friendly and offered great suggestions, thank you. I had ordered a hazelnut latte but then I heard some say they had a cardamom honey latte and was like oh yummm. The barista said I can make that for you and yes it was amazing. They use Decibel coffee for their drinks, which also made me happy because I love Decibel. Definitely give them a try if you are downtown.

Yelp
This was my first visit to the cafe. I really love the furniture here, which offers comfortable couches and chairs as well as firmer chairs and tables if that is your thing. I also appreciate that there is a courtyard area that even has an outlet, which can be rare. I'm generally working on my computer when I frequent coffee shops so these are things that matter to me. If you are grabbing and heading out, it might not matter as much. As far as the offerings, I'm a little bit on the hard-to-please side because I'm not a coffee drinker and I'm not big on pastries, so there has to be something else available for me to get in order for me to be a repeat guest. The only thing that wasn't great for me personally was that there were only two herbal drink options. That said, they also had bottled drinks in a refrigerated case as well as some sandwiches, so others might have found the selections satisfactory. I'd just like to see more choices in the herbal drink category.

Yelp
Pesha! She's a GEM! That's just for starters..... this welcoming little cafe has some of THE best baked goods in town. The teas and coffees are fantastic. It's on the middle of one of the coolest areas of Tucson. It has such an historic vibe but It's also hip, it's now and I just can't get enough!!

Yelp
Such an adorable little cafe ! Full of yummy bakery items , deli ( the dandy veggie is vegan ) , and delicious lattes & espresso. Indoor or outdoor seating available . Deli items sell out quickly.

Yelp
Love this place! It's a lovely local coffee spot with a great selection of pastries, sandwiches and drinks (drip coffee, espresso, tea, specialty and more!) available daily. Decibel coffee beans are used here and food and pastries are made by in house bakers. Super clean, great service and lovely space functional for get togethers and work/study. This space also turns into a lounge some nights serving up speciality cocktails and mock tails, all unique and so tasty!

Yelp
This place is legit. Excellent baked goods, hands down best chocolate chip cookie in Tucson and muffins and scones (both sweet and savory) are superior. Kudos to the baker at Dandelion, something special to be sure.

Yelp
This place is so cute! It definitely feels like welcoming and warm inside. The coffee options were great, house made flavor options, fresh pastries baked that morning, and good breakfast options. I had the sausage sandwich and was very pleased. I came here to work for a couple of hours and it gave me a nice quiet vibe with good internet.

Yelp
Dandelion is a lovely addition to the Ceres/Noodies family and the downtown scene, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite spots for a fast and delicious breakfast or lunch. The breakfast sandwiches and burritos are delish and the baked goods are just lovely. They've also been growing their lunch menu, with new options being added all the time. I pcked up the creamy cucumber dill salad and the wild mushroom and farro salad a few weeks ago and both were wonderful. The staff is so friendly and this is such a cute spot to meet a friend, read a book or post up and do some work.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop. A serene feeling where you can just sit and relax. They offer a pastry case and premade sandwiches in addition to drinks. The weekly special was a grapefruit elderflower lemonade which was refreshing and I tried the blueberry lavender muffin. The muffin was moist with a hint of lavender and lots of big blueberries, nice twist on a blueberry muffin. Service was quick and friendly. A hidden gem in downtown

Yelp
@dandelioncafebakery was truly an oasis we stumbled upon after visiting the @tucsonmuseumofart and @oldtownartisans It was an incredibly hot day and the pre-monsoon humidity bore down upon us as we shopped in the un-air conditioned artist and merchant colony. The friendly clerk @oldpaintrecords let us know that this cafe was just across the street and we quickly found it and relief from the sun. Most of the other restaurants were closed for the summer or until 4pm. This cafe has good air conditioning and restrooms. The coffee and tea is amazing! And we decided to grab the last three sandwiches in the grab-n-go by the entrance. It's like they were waiting just for us. The Beet and Chèvre sandwich was so delicious - sweet beets, fresh baked local focaccia delivered to the bakery that morning, spicy arugula, a drizzle of balsamic, and of course, thick sliced creamy piquant chèvre . I thought it was perfect but my daughter wanted more balsamic. The Italian was tasty and just right according to my other daughter. Just look at these sandwiches! I want one even now. We swooned over the small details like the parchment wrapping and paper tape ("like we're in a Ghibli film"). Lastly, I just love dandelions and so does this café obviously. The vegan oatmeal cookie we shared was also sooo good. The services here was incredibly friendly and welcoming, we lingered as long as possible at the little white painted iron cafe table against the front window. Did you know that the name Dandelion comes from the French 'dent de lion' translation: lion's tooth from the toothed edges of the leaves? Things I learn in Master Gardening Class

Yelp
Great new little cafe in downtown Tucson by the same owners of Cere's pasta! I've been in twice this week for coffee and a delicious lavender blueberry muffin, and then for lunch with a friend yesterday, we had beet and chevre sandwich, a lemonade, and a slice of cardamom spiced white cake with blackberry buttercream - it melted in our mouths! The employees at the counter were very helpful, cutting our sandwiches, and giving us to go bags, and making recommendations. The cafe itself is super cute, in a historic old building near Ceres, there is even a little arrow sign pointing the way. There is a small, adorable area inside to sit and eat, or working people downtown can grab and go. They offer a 10% discount for their downtown neighbors! The steps to go in are super steep, so watch out for those!

Yelp
Similar to another review, I came on an opening night. There was a long wait and the seating was kind of strange -- I think it could be rearranged to fit others more comfortably. The outdoor patio was very lovely for a summer night. I came in the evening for drinks and was pleasantly surprised that they had a non-alcoholic menu. I got the Dandelion "Wine" and my husband got the Dragon Tattoo mocktail. Both were very good. I'm interested in returning and trying the cafe/bakery and the cocktails.

Yelp
The Dandelion Lounge is located in the historic Presidio neighborhood and, by day, operates the Dandelion Cafe & Bakery. As of this writing, they will be open every Friday and Saturday evening. My wife and I went here for our date night, as last night was its soft opening. We arrived shortly after seven pm and had to wait as they were filled to capacity. Once inside, we waited for ~20 minutes to order and another 20 minutes for our drinks. If you served in the military and are used to standing and waiting for things, then this may not be an issue. It was ~an hour from arrival to receiving our drinks. Part of this was on us as we decided to wait for an opening as they were filled to capacity when we arrived. There is not a lot of sitting areas, and I highly recommend adding an additional table for the front outside and a few more on the inside, as it is awkward for adults to stand and imbibe. It reminded me of being at a house party. The staff was friendly, and the place was very clean. I also liked their background music and the soft lighting in the sitting area. The drinks seemed promising with the ingredients and the description, but they were average and perhaps a bit below for the price. We ordered the Wilding, Sweet Emotion, and Dandelion Wine. While watching the bartenders, they were following the instructions to make the drinks, and perhaps they just need to taste their own creations and practice, but they were off. Please take what I wrote with a grain of salt as it was their opening night, and as such, adjustments will be made. Taste is also subjective. You may find them to be amazing; they just were not for us (at least for now). I hope they make it and recommend giving them a try as they seem like nice people, and it is located in a nice place in Tucson. I will try them again by winter to see if the experience improves.

Yelp
Nice new coffee shop in downtown Tucson. Has a hanging out vibe in this cool renovated 1907 building. I ordered only an Americano, but was tempted by their many pastries. It looks like they have some readymade sandwiches and salads too, for the next time. Staff was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to checking them out again.

Yelp
Stumbled in this adorable renovated historic duplex in downtown. Originally built in 1907, this cafe is equal parts charming and hospitable! I had an iced chai tea latte and it was made perfectly. The inside has plenty of room for seating and they also have some outdoor seating. The young girl inside served up friendly service, too! I will definitely return.

Yelp
Super high quality sandwiches (on focaccia!!), pastries and coffee. The space is also really cute. 10/10 recommend!!

Toby K.

Yelp
Best pastries in town! I recommend their scones and tarta de Santiago. Great atmosphere to relax and read.

Christina M.

Yelp
They have a basic coffee menu with fun syrup choices and good pastries. Very cute unique coffee shop. They have interesting historical finds that they've displayed tastefully. Very cozy comfortable space to relax with an iced coffee and a book.

Mila K.

Yelp

Yelp
My pecan pie latte with oat milk was terrific. The matcha latte comes unsweetened. The interior space is small, but cozy.

Yelp
Terrific coffee & breakfast sandwiches. A very nice space to sit & relax. Friendly and accommodating ‼ So nice to have a place downtown that's open on the weekend FANTASTIC !

Yelp
there's nothing i love more than a cute cafe - and dandelion is no exception!! excellent music (drop the playlist link plz), excellent decor, overall very lovely! very cool barista who was super nice my coffee and food was very tasty! vanilla lattes are my litmus test for a good cafe and dandelion passed with flying colors - not too sweet, not too bitter. you def have got to try a breakfast sandwich too! def will be another addition to my tucson cafe rotation :)
google avatar

S K.

Yelp
Don't bother with their premade Grab and Go sandwiches. They taste like they're leftover from the day before. The bread was hard, the lettuce was withered, and it just wasn't worth the $10 I spent on it. Pretty disappointing.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
I have been here regularly from their opening. Their espresso drinks are great. They have an in-house bakery which are reflected in the breakfast foods and sandwiches. Their selection of foods is small but all of them are high quality.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
My wife and I had a delicious scone and the best sausage breakfast burrito of my life! It came with a mix of sausages - a delicious taste adventure from start to finish. Can't wait to try other items on the menu!
google avatar

Jerrod K.

Yelp
Awesome coffee beverages (that haven't been Starbucks-ized), a real bakery, in a fun old house in a cool part of town. What's not to love?
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
Tragic. I was a tremendous fan of Dandelion. And then I noticed a downturn in both the food and the morale. I asked a staff member what changed so suddenly: the bakery let the *baker* go in order to cut costs. Short-sighted management has found yet another way to run business into the ground. I can't recommend them anymore, and my distaste for greed and corporate schmucks leaves me actively recommending against the establishment.

Jaylee Y.

Yelp
Amazing small cafe and friendly staff. Coffee was really good and had an open and warm place for studying or hanging with a friend.
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
I want to go here every day. I want to get a little cold brew from here every day. I want to walk up the cool steps and enter this cool space and buy a little sandwich every day. I love this place.

Yelp
Dandelion? More like dandelicious!!! The most lovely coffee with vegan/vegetarian options.

Megan S.

Yelp
Stopped for a cup of holiday tea. Tea was fabulous and staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
