Best place for Champagne and niche wines in SF. Every bottle in there for a reason. Also great hard liquor selection, especially Amargnac. Everything you need and a lot you didn't know you needed, in a compact space with expert team.

One of (if not the best) liquor stores in the city. The staff is incredibly friendly, they're beyond knowledgeable about everything they sell, and have an excellent selection of higher-end adult libations. I've been going there for over 13 years and can't recommend them enough. And if you're an American whiskey or Bourbon fan, get on their quarterly club... Seriously. Do it. Now.

Excellent customer service. Everyone who works there is helpful and knowledgeable. You can spend as much or as little there and get a great tasting product. I highly recommend going there. Tell them your price point, your menu, and what you like and they will set you up! I can't say enough praises for this wine and liquor store.

Great wine and spirit selection, but what brings me back is the excellent service from kind and knowledgeable staff. They generate good gift suggestions from vague guidelines, and accommodate a normal person's budget without aggressive upselling or budget shaming.

My first time buying from D&M a few days ago. I purchased 4 bottles of bourbon. Great prices on bourbon and shipping! And speaking of shipping...shipping was fast and cost was very reasonable. I will definitely be doing business with D&M again! Thank you so much for the nice bottles and fast delivery.

Such a friendly crew. Nice selection of wines and also sparkling wines plus champagne. While a corner shop the layout made it easy to find what we were looking for and for what we didn't see right away there was help waiting.

Immaculate and inviting, you'd be hard-pressed to find a liquor store that looks like this jewel box. I came in to treat myself to a nice bottle of wine while keeping the price under $20. Something with a mineral finish and he suggested two. I couldn't decide so I bought them both. They stock lots of spirits and champagne, really anything you could think of for enjoying at home or as a hostess gift (never come empty handed!) D&M has been in the neighborhood for decades with personal customer service. A+ experience!

Excellent selection of bourbon (hubby's drink of choice), reasonable prices, knowledgeable and personable staff. They have hard-to-find bottles and if you are loyal to them, they'll even call you to let you know when they have something you've been looking for or that they know you'd like. Hubby gives them tons of business and literally spends an hour+ in there just to chat with them. (Annoying when we used to live a couple blocks away and the hubby would volunteer to pick up breakfast, which I wouldn't get til wayyyyy later.... so I quickly learned to remind him to drop off my food before visiting them lol.) I don't drink, but after years they finally found the only alcoholic beverage I will consume by choice, a special moscato (it tastes like apple cider, super low alcohol content, lol). Location-wise, they're right across the street from Salt & Straw, so you if you're visiting with a non-alcohol-lover, you can send them there if the lovely aroma of fresh waffle cones doesn't draw them in first.

These guys know what they are doing. Fantastic service. Excellent knowledge. If you don't know what you want they can make recommendations. This will be - IS - my go to place to buy my drink ingredients. Their friendly and helpful demeanor rises above ANY store in this city. Go. You won't be sorry!

I like to support small businesses especially during these times.I most often go to the Jug Shop but I live in the neighborhood so stopped by for a couple of items..The clerk at the counter whose name is David was snarky and condescending,not making the least bit of effort to be courteous or helpful.There is no excuse for poor customer service especially with the competition in the city.I know better to take the extra time to go to my familiar place where I am treated respectfully.

Every employee here is so knowledgeable and well informed on wine and spirits. Incredible and well stocked selection of wines. Exceptional customer service and industry knowledge sets this place apart from others in the area.

I am a big fan of this place. The team is highly knowledgable and friendly: whether you're a scotch aficionado or a madeira neophyte, they've got your back and will get you to the right bottle. Looking for a gift? No worries. Looking for something esoteric? They'll help hunt it down. They have a fantastic selection at great prices. I was looking for a very specific bottle of scotch and not only was this one of the few stores that actually had it, they had it for a much, much better price than anywhere else in San Francisco. For many people, it's easy to see "liquor store" and assume they're all the same, but they're not. This one is better and I'll definitely be back.

Not everyday I give a liquor store my five star review, but here it is! We were on a family walk today in the Fillmore district. We stopped in to see if they had a special Talisker 10 year old. Not only did the have it, they had other Taliskers as well. The two workers there were NOT arrogant and haughty about their knowledge, but more educational and friendly. And just to prove my point, I came home and looked online for the same bottle, only to find it $20 more expensive! Thank you D&M Liquors!

Good experience ordering online from D&M during these pandemic times. Orders have consistently shipped out same or next business day. Their selection is excellent, and prices are fairly competitive given the extensive selection. My orders have been packaged well, in those molded tray wine shippers. I also appreciate that, for my bottles that came with retail cardboard presentation packaging, they folded the packaging flat and included it in the shipment.

D&M is one of those family owned shops that you want to support. With a wealth of knowledge in the wine/spirits space, a banging selection of Champagne and incredible whiskeys, this place is a connoisseurs dream shop. Everytime I pop into this shop (pre COVID) I'm promptly helped by someone and end up learning a little bit more about champers. This little shop also has a great selection of cold bottles of wine/beer. If you're looking for something nice for dinner, live in the area it's a great spot for grabbing something and paying the corkage at a neighboring restaurant. I'm a big fan of corkage. D&M also has a pretty great online store too. It's pretty updated and they do delivery in SF. Boo ya.

I have been looking for these certain bitters and I had no luck. I ordered them online and got them so fast and can finally make my candy cap old fashioned. When we're in San Francisco, will definitely check out. Thanks so much!

While we were in Brugge, had the awesome fortune to dine at Hertog Jan.......our "welcome" champers was a delightful Andre Clouet - Grand Cru Cuvee 1911 & we totally wanted to track this down.......enter D & M The store has a large presence on the corner of Sacramento & Fillmore & we must have passed it a thousand times but never entered until this past weekend Online research advised us D&M was the only Bay Area shop to stock this delish beverage & upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly-welcoming atmosphere & people happily purchasing their libations When it was our turn, we asked about the bottles we were seeking & luckily there were still some available (the 1911 is a limited edition & only 1911 bottles are produced for any vintage year!) When the bottles were brought out from the back & unpacked, a whimsical wrapping in straw surrounded the offerings & we were advised that's how they were shipped back in 1911 - lovely touch by Andre Clouet! Can't wait to taste these babies & given the large selection of other wines, champagnes & beers we saw in the few min we were there, this is a place which demands repeat visits for sure!

Incredible selection of whiskey and brandy. Smaller but well curated selection of wine. Staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This is the true difference maker. The in store experience is exceptional, but the online store is great, too. Check these guys out, you will not be disappointed.

After doing quite a bit of research on Yelp this is one of THE places to buy champagne in SF. I got flashbacks of Jay Z's "Big Pimpin" video. The staff was very helpful and they had a wide variety of champagnes that made it difficult to leave with just one.

They always have the scotch I'm looking for, even kinda obscure ones that aren't so well-known in the US. This staff here is super knowledgable yet free of pretense, which is refreshing given the atmosphere of some of the other high-end liquor stores in SF (none of which have as well-curated a selection). I love that it looks like a regular (nice) liquor store from the outside - like a regular SF corner store - but also has an exceptional range of products. This place has been here for quite a while, and it has a real "old San Francisco" vibe that brings back happy childhood memories.

Great place. Found a bottle of Henry McKenna, but ran out when I came back the next day. Really like the layout, and the person helping me was fantastic also. Got 3 bottles! My friend got 1.

I drove out of my way to checkout D&M and I was not disappointed. The barrel aged gin changed the way I make my gin and tonics forever. Everyone there was very helpful and I can't wait to learn a new cocktail or trick next time I go.

Always a great vibe in this place with knowledgeable staff that are not wine snobs. Lots of value packed in this joint- have been happy with all recommendations and their pricing which actually beats the big box stores much of the time. If you go - engage and ask questions & learn - that's what D&M is all about

Our local 5 star liquor store in Pacific Heights. Great selection of booze & wine at very good prices. Best of all, very nice helpful staff, always willing to track down a bottle you had with friends, a special vintage and deliver when you want it.

(See pics) Review #1243. Love this local wine shop for its huge selection of champagnes (and in gigantic bottle size), a wall full of single malt scotch. Now while that's what it's famous for, I came here for its small production wines and their detailed knowledge of wines since they not only have tasted every bottle that they carry, they have an amazing memory filled with notes of he bottles! One of the guys gave the best suggestion, "I can't imagine why I should drink any bottle twice when there are so many choices." My thinking exactly. My visit here proved to have given some amazing choices of Sancerre, a few bottles of very small production wines that are labeled as the distributor, which also gives some mystery to the taste. All at fairly good prices. This is more than a local liquor store, it's a destination when I need either a weeknight drink, or that celebration bottle, all without risking the money by the help of informative and descriptive folks!

Although they didn't have the specific Gin I was looking for they were extremely helpful. I mean, I was looking for a very particular craft Gin that still isn't super well known so I can't fault them. Notwithstanding not having the Gin I was looking for they have an excellent selection that is well organized with a professional staff.

There may not be a better place to get your drunk on than D & M. They have an amazing selection of vintage brown liquors that would surely put a smile on any Holiday drunks face. I stopped in looking for a specific bottle of Armagnac. Yes, they had the one I was looking as well as mega more. All reasonably priced and sold by experts who know their stuff and can tell you the story about every bottle they stock. If you are having a serious case of gift givers block, come here.

Incredibly helpful staff. They've always got new beers coming in and are ready with great suggestions for any meal and price range. Fantastic resource only a few blocks from my home...perfect for that last minute en-route-to-someone's-house gift.

Best liquor store in the city. Amazing selection especially since I love champagne. They even have a Champagne Society club where staff experts select bottles monthly or quarterly for pickup or shipped to you. They host special events, dinners, happy hour as well. The best part of shopping at D&M is the staff. They are incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I'm obviously a huge fan and I recommend anyone that imbibes to check it out.

Amazing customer service. Ordered a couple bottles online and they went out of their way to correct the shipping issues I was experiencing. They also packed up the two bottles super securely. A+ in my book.

Ok, this place will have what you need. Well, maybe not Hostess Cupcakes. This is Disneyland for drunks and for your dad who likes to get drunk. See, my father loves his fancy brown liquors, especially expensive bottles from France. D & M has exactly that and more. I walked in by chance on a Wednesday evening (just before closing), from the minute I walked in I felt like a VIP. And did I mention this was right before closing? Oh yeah I did, but seriously..RIGHT BEFORE CLOSING! No one gave me the "hey bud, we are about to shut our doors so go find your booze fix somewhere else". Nope, not at all. Instead I was asked how they could be of assistance and there was something specific I was interested in. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and taught me about fancy Cognac (and their cousins) in great detail. After about 30 minutes he led me to the perfect bottle and even arranged for the shipping. Oh, and for you bubbles fans, they have a super awesome selection of Champagne and sparkling from all over the globe.

I realize now how great this store is and will not stray as the selection is bar none, service is exemplary, and I just feel good when I come here and when I leave.

It feels a bit strange to write a glowing review for a liquor store, but this one is really worth it. Every time we go into D&M, we leave, remarking at length about what an enjoyable experience it was. We always learn so much, and when we open our new-found prizes at home, we are delighted that they match exactly what we asked for. These are seriously knowledgable purveyors of spirits and wine. They listen carefully, factor in your requested price point, and deliver pretty much exactly what you requested. I'm sure you've had the experience where you go to great lengths to describe what you want, they hand you a bottle, you get home, open it, and it's just awful. In the 3 1/2 years we've been coming to D&M, that has never happened, and in fact, it's exactly the opposite. If you are tired of taking chances and having about a 50% hit rate, go immediately to D&M. They know their stuff, they love what they do, and you will feel so much better to be spending your money in a place where it buys what you are hoping for.

I've only shopped online with D&M but I can't say enough good things about them. Their Champagne selection is wonderful and well priced and their customer service is top notch. I recently sent them an email (late on a Saturday night) asking for help with a gift and they responded within 5 minutes. Needless to say, I was very impressed. I send bottles to people every year around the holidays and we've purchased the Champagne Holiday Six Pack for ourselves and others as well. It's a great deal. They're no slouches in the wine and liquor departments either. They have an impressive selection of still wines and single malt and if I knew more about cognac and armagnac I'd probably love them for that too. It's true that sometimes you can find better prices elsewhere on certain items but you can't beat their selection.

Love love love this place. lots of champagnes and champagne expert drinkers. All the staff personally select the wines and champagnes. Ask them, they really are down-to-earth knowledgeable. I don't know much about champagnes (though i LOVE them). I know when I try good wine. And i know not all my friends always taste it, so I like to indulge in good wines solo sometimes. And this is where I go for half-bottles. Lots of amazing good half-bottles like Duckhorn, Swason, ... and plenty of lesser known ones - as I mentioned earlier the staff selects these wines. They are extremely good at discovering lesser known ones. Love it

I never write these but went in after some shopping on Fillmore and the guys inside could not have been cooler. Wine can be pretentious, but not here! These guys obviously love to bring new people to new wines. One worker spent 20 minutes showing me what I kinda thought I wanted and another 15 geeking out on big format champagne bottles. Keep it going!

What more do you need from a legit local wine and liquor merchant? This is no corner store. This is a fine purveyor of champagne, liquor, single malt scotches and cognacs. Their prices are good. The people are unbelievably upbeat and helpful. When I walk in, every single time they ask if they can help me find something. They're ready to discuss whatever you want and help guide you to the best drink. I walk 10 minutes in each direction to go here though there are closer wine shops because it is worth the trip.

I signed up for their little email blurb as well and every month I get an email update on whats going on or what's new! They have an excellent selection of unique liquors. What started as a random stop at a "liquor store" turned into a secret wine boutique discovery! This must be one of the best wine selections in SF (and high end liquor, too) and the dudes who work here are total booze nerds, happy to assist you in picking the perfect potion. I purchased an amazing young Gamay from Languedoc ($18), which was described as a light & bright red with a little spicy pizazz. Jackpot! Plus, half of the refrigerators are stocked with sparkling wine, from affordable bubbles to real Champagne. Wow, these Pac Heights folks have it good. The store is laid out like a classy wine shop, and the liquor selection behind the counter was also really impressive. If only they had some gourmet snacks & cheese for sale, this place would be the perfect pre-party stop.

D & M has an amazing selection of wines and whiskey, 2 of my favorite things! Which makes this one of my favorite places! Prices have a wide range, but there really isn't anything on the cheap side of cost. And the people working here are amazingly knowledgeable so if you're headed to a dinner party and looking to impress someone with what you bring stop by and ask for some advice. They will definitely steer you in the right direction.

I went out of my way to visit this store because I read online that they stocked an unusual single malt scotch that I wanted to buy as a gift for an afficionado who's partial to the offerings from the island of Islay. I agree with [hOWARD y] about the service. I was the only one standing at the register, but still had to beg for their attention (I hate that). The young man retrieved the scotch, but as soon as I started asking questions, he snapped back at me. For example, I was professing my delight having found them as a source for this particular scotch which I had found the maker's Scottish web site and had thought I had to order from Scotland, and he rudely corrected my syntax by saying "we aren't the distributor", correcting me that "distributor" is different than "retailer". Hey buddy, I just dropped 1/2 a bill on a bottle of scotch here, and you are going to insult me? I don't need to shop there ever again. If my dear one likes the scotch, I'll try to find it at Cask or another "distributor"!

I have wandered the confines of this tiny store like a lost soul in search of salvation on many occasions and nary a peep out of the staff to save me. They have so many lovely lovely things - sparkling wines to tempt me, Italian varietals I want to try, French vintages (whimper) - but how can I choose if I don't have any help? Dammit, I'm a wine lover, not an expert! If I ask, I do receive good, knowledgeable service - but I shouldn't have to ask. UPDATE: I came to D & M for recommendations for a friend's Christmas present. Not impressed. The service I received was disinterested and frankly condescending. News Flash (in Suzanne's 'pissy' voice): If I am ASKING for a RECOMMENDATION I would like for YOU to tell ME what might possibly be good or interesting to try from your shop. You sell wine. I trust you. Give me some flippin' rope! For that crappy experience, with nothing stellar to outweigh it, you lose a star. And I will not be back.

Excellent selection of high-end booze and champagne. Average for still wine. Unbeatable for oddballs like calvados. But just rude. Rude, unpleasant, bordering on mean. I lived down the block from D&M for about 15 years. I went in 1-2 times a month. I never got a smile, a suggestion or even vague recognition that I was a regular customer. I have no chip on my shoulder, and I don't give a flip what these people think of me, but courtesy just isnt' that hard. The other day I went by Cask on 3rd and Market. Turns out one of the women working there used to work at D&M. She agreed that D&M is a lousy place to work with unhappy people. so the 1 star is admittedly a bit unfair, and I'll continue to go to D&M on occassion because they do have a great selection. But if you have a choice, opt for Cask or K&L (great place) or Wine Club or even (heaven forbid) Bevmo and let D&M make their rent selling cigarettes and malt liquor. Thumbs up on product. Thumbs way down on service.

If you ever need a giant bottle of champagne to celebrate, oh I don't know, our country not voting itself into oblivion in a few weeks, this is the place. All those Magnums and Imperials and Nebuchadnezzars you see in here are real, and they're all for sale. For the rest of us, D&M is a small & quaint little wine shop that, despite the location, is no yuppiefest. I mean, I'm sure you can find your rare scotches for sipping in your Pac Heights mansion if that's what you want, but there's also a very convenient row of budget-priced wines right in front of the counter. Granted, if you like an encyclopedic selection ala those SOMA warehouses, this won't be for you, but if you just want a no-nonsense recommendation, the salt-of-the-earth salespeople are more than happy to point you to the spicy or the fruity stuff or however your tastes may run.

D & M Friendly Staffer: Very good, but no, guess again. Me: HOW?!?!? D & M Friendly Staffer: They grow the pear inside the bottle. Me: For real? D & M Friendly Staffer: Yep! I'll have to go back and purchase some of that next time I find $65.00 to spend on brandy.

Hi, my name is Jess and I've had the worst day ever. BOO! I have no whiskey, double boo! I'm not an alcoholic because I decided that I needed a drink after such an awful, awful day right before poopey valentines day.... Anyway, so I bought some booze. I put it in my freezer. I went to class. Class was good, cause I am brilliant. (Of course) I went home, and drew a bath. I took the bottle out of the freezer. I got in the bath with the bottle. It was no longer the worst day ever. 5 stars for that. **Drinking in the bath is for seasoned professionals. I don't suggest newbies try it. I take no responsibility for any bodily harm that may come from it.

1.5 stars 2 of the last 5 bottles I've purchased there were unusable. And generally when I do go in there, I can barely even get them to ring me up and take my money! And I'm usually the only one there. Apparently something really important is going on in back that they can't ring the register, make eye contact, or rotate out rotted cork wine. I only return because of the location.
