D&S Southern Comfort Bbq

Hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at. The food is phenomenal. My partner and I frequent this restaurant as often as possible - we used to live over an hour away and would still make the trip because it is just really that good. Now we've moved to a quick 30min drive, and I can tell you we will be eating here a lot more often. The meat is juicy, tender and extremely flavourful. Their homemade sauces are unreal, specifically that Sweet n Smoky sauce, I could drink that stuff. Overall the authenticity of this place is next to none, it is casual, homey, and just an overall great atmosphere to eat in, with top notch food to boot. I rave about this place to everyone I can, and am finally getting my whole family out to try it this weekend. D&S gets 10 stars in my books.

D&S was awesome! the service was freaking fast... in 10 minute all the food was on the table. my wife went for the chicken , it's was perfectly cook and juicy! I went for the meat platter ( with the help of my 5 year old ;) ) it was perfect. nothing left in the plate! The beef ribs were a little bit too spicy for my son ( he ate them anyway so... ) Those guys know how to do REAL BBQ! if you think ribs should be fall of the bones, you are wrong!

Great ribs, dry rub is amazing, nice unique sodas and the food comes up fast. I recommend going on a Thursday when its $1.50 a bone. Craft beers are great too. If you don't want to spend $120.00 like that lady I suggest not going for the $55.00 monster sized beef ribs as they're adequately priced for the right sized stomach. My average bill between 2 people is $35-50 with sodas and alcohol

First off, the notion from a few below that moist tender fall of the bone ribs are overcooked garbage, is completely and utterly absurd. This is entirely a preference thing and based on how you cook them, not necessarily how long. The fact that they are tender fall off the bone completely contradicts that rubbish. I'm no expert on smoking meat as I've never gotten into it, but I'm going to guess that pre cooking all of this meat has a direct result on the consistency when serving. Saying that, this is still the best BBQ place I've tried in Ottawa outside of rib fest. The brisket and pulled pork was excellent, loved the mac &cheese balls and the ribs although a little chewy, were still very good. Lot's of good flavor with a good serving size.

Dinner was absolutely delicious - the cornbread and coleslaw was amazing. I ordered a smoked chocolate cheesecake to take home and it was awful. It tasted like smoked chicken and it was way too firm/dried out. I would highly recommend not smoking the cheesecake at all and just leaving it as it is which I'm sure would solve the problems I had with it.

Was there last week for lunch. Figuring since it was my introduction to the place I chose the D&S burger (How can a namesake item be bad, right?). Well it was damned good. The burger was moist and not overcooked (which most places do), toppings were fresh and plentiful. I left satiated, to say the least. My only comment, and more constructive than negative, would be that the hush-puppies lacked a little zip... They were kind of bland. All in all I will definitely go back to try the ribs (be warned D&S ;) I consider myself a true aficionado of quality southern ribs). And perhaps one day The Determinator.

The ribs are flavorful as well as the chicken and pulled pork. The fried macNcheese balls were awesome. The bbw sauces were disappointing but can you can still enjoy the meal without it. They have rib nights. Over all a solid choice for a meal
