We got married here on 10/11/25 and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day or experience with Danford's and Black Pearl Catering staff! We were treated like a king and queen. This is a beautiful venue for a wedding, with the ferry and boats in the background if you do a waterfront ceremony like we did. The staff, especially our wedding coordinators Annmarie and Elyse, paid exceptional attention to detail and assisted us along the way in every step from booking up to our wedding day. The food was delicious and the staff friendly and professional. We never saw such a happy, smiling staff anywhere before. They were just incredible. We stayed the night and our room was beautiful, clean, spacious with a comfortable bed and a water view. The perfect wedding day and night!

Everything was perfect. Even the rainy weather on Saturday couldn’t dampen this experience. Room was exceptional, and I loved the fact that even though it was January 10, all the Christmas decorations were still in place at the hotel and in town. Front desk staff were extremely warm and pleasant. Surrounding area was full of friendly people, lots of walking spaces and parks and the downtown Port Jefferson experience was very lively. Will definitely be back.

Even in December I have a beautiful view of the water, the staff is so professional and friendly. From check in to the restaurant( the food is Amazing!! The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and all that you need to relax . I am also surrounded by people celebrating the holidays. I came for the SPA experience and it was 100% a must. The owners knew it was my birthday and gave me 10plus service.

We planned a.lovely Thanksgiving dinner family reunion, with everyone driving from out of state. It’s unfortunate that I cannot give this establishment any rating for the experience. There was a price fixed menu, that was not inexpensive. We were seated at the Black Pearl room across from the main restaurant, since the food was carted outside to bring to the room where we were seated all the food was cold and the turkey dinners were not sliced pieces of turkey but leftovers they had pulled together with cartilage and bones on one of our plates. The best part of our dinner was the wait staff - our waitress couldn’t be more sweet and apologetic. She brought the Manager to our table so we could express our concerns. We were told by the Manager. “Since the food is not to our liking he would take everything back”. We told him. This is not a case of “ not to our liking”. The food was inedible!!! We were not offered anything else as a substitute. Suffice to say it was a ruined Hoilday gathering and it was very hard for any of us to believe that this restaurant could not offer up a burger or anything else as a substitute except a Manager with a terrible demeanor for dealing with customers and a bad experience SHAMEFUL. Would never recommend this place to anyone

Family gathering nearby brought us to Port Jeff. Some came in from CT on the ferry. This was perfect! Very clean and well appointed rooms, The Black Pearl restaurant on site exceeded our expectations. Really perfect!

I am currently staying at Danfords to enjoy the Dickens festival without having to drive home. It’s a nightmare. Wedding going on and the band might as well be in the room So noisy you can’t even think. I came to relax and feel like I’m going to have a heart attack from the noise. I cannot recommend this hotel. They really need to reevaluate the name “spa” I planned on staying 2 days but will check out in am - ruined weekend

Loved staying at Dansford! Stayed 2 nights with 3 other friends and it was perfect! The views, location (walkable to MANY food/drink/shopping options), room comfort and cleanliness were all top tier!

A reasonable person would assume a Waterview room would not mean a strip of water over the filthy parking lot. I’ve been staying here for years and have never been so disappointed in my stay or with the service when I asked for it to be rectified. It won’t happen again.

We recently celebrated my son's wedding at Danford's and it was absolutely wonderful. The Harbor View Room was decorated beautifully and created the perfect atmosphere. Our waitress, waiters and bartender were attentive, friendly, and polite and Gianna, the event sales manager made the entire process seamless. The food was excellent. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. During the process of planning the event if I had any questions Gianna returned my messages quickly. It was the most stress free event I ever planned. I highly recommend Danfords, Icing on the cake is the location in beautiful Port Jeff. Deb J

The location is wonderful. The room was pretty nice. The restaurant pretty good. The bar made excellent drinks the view with all the boats and all the hustle bustle of the marina. We adore. The best part is being right in the heart of downtown Port Jefferson we had people come visit us utilizing the ferry from Connecticut and from Boston easily accessible. We had a Starbucks as well as other Necessities with a few feet. There's loads of restaurants to choose from within very short, walking distance there's bars and outdoor areas to sit like breweries and ice cream shops. It's really a great weekend away.

If I could leave a negative star rating I would. Avoid this place at all cost!!! The service was subpar the nonexistent steak and Lobster we ordered never came and the hamburger rolls trying to pass for dinner rolls were stale as F!!!

BEWARE this hotel was NEGLIGENT durring our stay. My mother daughter and I stayed over Memorial Day weekend. The room had sugar ants in the shower, among the coffee maker, and even on the beds. But WORSE they knowingly put us in a first floor room with a broken window. We heard a SLAM in the middle of the night and weren't sure what it was. In the morning we looked and found the window (that was in the locked position- without a screen) could be opened from the back parking lot at any time. My THREE YR OLD was with us in a room where ANYONE could enter at ANY TIME!!! We called the local PD to let them know of the attempted break in and the maintence person said they had KNOWN about the BROKEN WINDOW!!! So get this!! They willingly put us in a first floor room with a kid where ANYONE at ANYTIME has access though the window. I'm appalled. Please be safe and don't stay here.

At first attempt to check in power was out in the room. We got moved to another section of the dilapidated building. The view was nice. That's the only positive thing I can say. I left two pairs of shoes in the room. I called and the following day housekeeping found them "Exactly where I said they would be". I sent a FedEx return label and now they have disappeared. I must have ten calls in to them. The manager Claudine can't even call back. Avoid this place any way you can

BIGGEST SCAM OF A HOTEL: DIRTY - UNSANITARY - DISGUSTING - HORRIBLE STAFF - DO NOT STAY HERE - TRUST THE REVIEWS We checked in to our room, to see dark brown splatters all over the walls next to the toilet. We called the front desk to ask if we could get a maid to clean the walls in the bathroom. The front desk assured us they would send someone up. We waited 35 minutes for the maid (who does not speak a lick of English) to show up empty handed .. but instead with "more towels"... We showed her the walls and she herself was super grossed out - BUT instead of getting cleaning supplies, she walked into our bathroom, stood on our toilet seat with her sneakers, took our clean face towels and wiped the walls and asked if that was good. We said no... that's unsanitary especially if we think the brown splatters were what we thought they were... and asked her to please go get detergent and clean the walls properly including the toilet that she stepped on. We went down to the front desk to explain what happened and asked for a new room. They said "sorry there is nothing we can do" and assured me there were no more rooms either. I asked for the number of a manager, they said they couldn't do that. And instead gave me an email. After reading other reviews I see the manager avoids contact with hotel guests so makes sense that they refused to give me her number! Instead they sent a maintenance man up with a dirty ladder and cleaning supplies another 30 minutes in. Fortunately he was a very nice man who bleached our whole bathroom and apologized for everything. Ironically enough he pointed out how the bathroom was covered in black mold - which has to be against some sort of health code! We went back to the front desk again to ask for some sort of refund for this unsanitary hotel room and the disturbance that this caused us on the only night of our stay - they took 50$ off of our 400$ room. Such a joke. Ultimately after reading the reviews from this hotel and other guests, I guess what we dealt with wasn't half as bad as huge leaks, bugs, broken windows, and dirty beds... but 'mysterious brown splatters' all over the bathroom walls had to come in close second. If you respect yourself, your family and care about your health, please do not stay here.

Danford's is a beautiful hotel restaurant marina in Port Jefferson on the water and they have good size rooms and the prices were pretty decent. My room was very clean. I would definitely be back.

i think its disgraceful that they manager of this hotel and inn have not returned a phone call after many attempts have been made to call this establishment I have tried many times to speak to someone and nobody has the decency to return a phone call.. The front desk basically told me it's a on my request. I'm not getting into it on this review. but I think it's very rude that the manager has not returned my phone call and the general manager after emailing him multiple times has not had the decency to either email me or call me back so I can explain the issue at hand. It really leaves a bad taste to wanna even go to this establishment.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL with young children (or at all)! The room my family stayed in on the first floor had a broken window that would not lock, did not have a screen, did not have a window guard, and my cousin's 3 year old child could easily open the window. This is a safety violation and the hotel management could care less. The maintenance person reported knowing about the broken window prior to our stay. Knowing this safety issue with the window the hotel still allowed a family with a young child in this room!! Additionally, the window is very accessible from the back parking lot, anyone could open it, and anyone could get in. DO NOT STAY here due to the lack of safety.

Where do I start. We celebrated our 50th Anniversary at Danfords in the Harborview room great size room for 40 adults. From the very beginning the Event planner Ann Marie was very helpful and wanted to make sure everything was to my liking. The wait staff Jackie, Zackary, Steve and Rosie were on the ball keeping things running so smoothly would not even know they were there. The food and drinks were great. Oh the valet parking people were great. It was just a wonderful experience and my guest just loved it. Highly recommend.

We stayed at Danfords on April 24 and 25, 2025. We had stayed there before and were very much looking forward to enjoying the restaurant/bar after travelling for several hours. In fact, that was why we decided to stay there. To our surprise, both restaurant and bar were closed for remodeling so, road- weary, we had to figure out where to go next. The desk staff was not at all helpful. They seemed to have little knowledge of the town and were clearly not interested in helping us. Bottom line is, Danfords' should have disclosed that the restaurant/bar was closed when we made the reservation. We would have made other arrangements.

We had non refundable reservations for a one night stay. After a state of emergency was declared for Suffolk County we couldn't get to the hotel. Staff was kind enough to refund our non refundable payment. I hope the area rebuilds quickly.

Let me just say check your bank accounts if you stay here. Im here from the 17th-21st and I just randomly checked my bank account and I was triple charged on my card. One transaction for $608 another for $1 and another for $1086. My subtotal on my confirmation email was $572. Why am I being charged 3 different transactions that don't even match my sub total. I got in contact with the front desk they didn't want to help over the phone so I hung up and walked into the front desk where they couldn't just tell me there's nothing I can do. I'm here until Monday and they said that's when you'll get your money back on your card the day I leave. Very convenient for me not having the money I came here with for the trip. Also the room we are staying in had a leaking refrigerator with a huge Puddle of water on the floor that my girlfriend stepped in after a few seconds of being in the room. Outside of our door is a cone and bucket for the leaking roof! Not a good look for what's supposed to be a nice hotel! Won't be staying here again better off at a holiday in

The people at the front desk are incomprehensibly rude.. attempting a super simple interatction is really brutal. Be prepared to get screamed at by a mentally unwell woman in broken english good luck yall . Better off at the nasty motel a mile north

My review of Danfords is based on the hotel bar, chicken nuggets and french fries. I came here with my boyfriend to see his friend Rob sing we were with my son. The entertainment space in the bar area isn't very spacious, Rob set up in front of a pillar/column area. I think when they hire live music here they aren't looking to get crowds dancing, just provide a relaxing atmosphere for people at the bar. The bar was nice, we sat at a couch and small table area. I got my son a shirley temple to drink and being that I don't drink myself I might have had an OJ&seltzer or a shirley temple too. I ordered chicken nuggets and french fries to keep my son a little busy besides coloring. He seemed to like the nuggets. One day if I have more money than I do currently, if I pay off some of my debt or somehow just get a large sum of money and am finally comfortable I'd like to stay at Danfords. Even though I live on Long Island and plan to live here until I at least retire I enjoy staying in different hotel rooms to feel like I'm traveling but I don't really get to do that. Than I can update my review on Danfords as a hotel instead of just visiting the bar area.

Easy 5 stars for our recent stay, so I just don't understand the poor reviews. Our corner room in the Galley building was spacious and clean. The mattress was super comfortable. We arrived early so waited by the fireplace before checking in, which was still about a half hour before check-in time. Food at the restaurant was delicious and service was great We will return!

We went to Danfords for dinner based on recommendations from family from this area and found beautiful views and a quaint area to enjoy. However, dinner left a lot to be desired. The menu is very limited for starters. We were quite hungry and asked about portion size of the Lobster Mac, thinking my partner would pair it with something. But he was told it was a very large plate that was deep. There were no appetizers that really appealed, so we hoped for bread in the meantime. No bread service available. The Mac was actually small though rich, and could have used some seasoning, as well as lobster stock instead of just lobster added on. I ordered a butternut squash ravioli that said in a brown butter sauce with succotash, but there was barely any "sauce" and instead the bowl arrived looking like a bowl of Lima beans, black beans and corn. It was barely seasoned until I got it stirred up with the butter. Very disappointing disjointed dish. Service was okay, but nothing about this meal was great.

Always a spectacular location with great views of the harbor. The manager Ron was terrific, i order a non alcoholic beer, the bartender told me the didn't carry any. My wife and i sat down for an appetizer and a drink. When the manager came around i told him i was surprised that they didn't carry any non alcoholic beer. He said he was surprised also and went to the basement and found the HeinekenZero. I appreciate the effort. Customer service first rate, i forget the Burrata appetizer terrific.

We attended a private birthday party here recently and were pleasantly surprised. Even though the room didn't have a view of the water, it did have a small dance floor, private bathrooms and its own bar area. The food was good, standard catering fare. The service was excellent. The waitstaff brought the children fruit bowls, kids meals, and Shirley temples without even asking for them. They made sure everyone was taken care of and communicated well with the hosts of the party.

Food was so so plain no real flavor in a lot of dishes brought to the table. We had 8 people say never again. The view is the o my thing going for this place.

I was given a gift certificate that was bought on line one month ago. I understood when I was told it wasn't good for the spa since that is privately owned. The restaurant is closed for renovations so when I inquired when it would be open again I was told the gift certificate would not be good there either for the same reason. I asked to be connected to the general manager TWICE and left messages and emailed her once . SHE NEVER RETURNED MY PHONE CALLS. My suggestion is NEVER to buy a gift certificate for Danfords unless you want to be ignored.

Yelper Lisa A and I went on an impromptu visit to this venue a few days ago, on Saturday. It took me one half hour to find a parking space here. I drove around until I found someone getting out of their parking space on the street several blocks from Danford's. Be sure to plan an hour ahead to find parking. There are many lots that charge a fee, and there are some free spaces on the street with a one hour parking limit. No table, inside or out--, was available at the Wave Seafood and Steak restaurant until 1 hr and 40 minutes later. The maître d' told us that people without reservations can buy a drink inside and then stand and drink it anywhere on the premises. A hotel receptionist told me to be sure to make a reservation at the restaurant no later than Monday evening if you want to dine there during the weekend. Lisa and I both ordered a Patron Margarita, which was tasty and sweet. We drank it outside as we heard the band play. What a warm summer evening with a fresh breeze! The crowd was rowdy and fun. The band was lively and played mix of jams from different genres-- some pop, some R&B and some rock. We had some Hot Fun In The Summertime. Oh, I wish the band had played that tune by Sly & The Family Stone! That would have capped off our evening.

Total shit hotel. Overbooked the property for two weddings. My family and I got turned away after driving two hours to get here. We basically had no place to stay. And was told to contact Expedia. Very poor reception. Not even a manager came out to apologize. Don't go.

I'm not usually a complainer, but this time I really have to. My experience at Danford's was spectacularly subpar. Check-in was fine, but when I was given directions to my room and told it was "downstairs," I should have asked a follow up question. It was, indeed downstairs, a basement or garden level room. Fine, no big deal. I'm just there to sleep. Speaking of sleeping, I was looking forward to that king bed I paid for. Nope. Didn't get that. Instead I got a twin and when I sent a message about it, radio silence. But, really, who cares about the size of the bed? I would have happily taken the smaller one. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't paying for the room I had not gotten. Because it was a basement room, the wifi was...spotty to say the least. Then there were the bugs. Small roaches (?) all around the mini fridge and then the outlet in the bathroom looked like it had been a roach hangout. There were even small roaches in the cable box, which was a fun surprise when I was trying to get it to work. I should have complained and got a different room, but if this is what one is like, realistically, they are all like that. So I stayed, against my better judgement. But last night, when I went to shower, I pulled down a towel and with it came a bug of some sort. I was OUT. The person at the front desk was apologetic and helpful - it's really not their fault, so no harm on their end. I got a different room. But, ugh. Just a bummer of an experience. We're I the owner, I would be ashamed that this is the state of my hotel. I went out to the wedding that I was there to attend (let's also mention that this particular room was a part of a block - so this is what they are giving out), I came back and a cvs bag with some snacks and toiletries had been thrown away. No big deal, a negligible cost. But, still, you could throw that away, but couldn't clean the bathroom outlet? For the amount I paid, on Long Island, I expected a LOT more in terms of cleanliness. Did they not take the time during the pandemic to deep clean and debug their hotel? I stayed because it was close to the ferry. Next time I'll take the hassle of staying further away just to avoid this let down of a hotel. If you still choose to go, if they try to give you a Lighthouse room, say no

My fiancé and I stayed at Danford's this past weekend for Valentine's Day! We love Danford's. The room was clean and the whole atmosphere is always welcoming. My fiancé set up a chocolate covered strawberries & champagne surprise in our room & the strawberries were DELICIOUS! They tasted super fresh and it tasted like the chocolate was just recently placed on the strawberries. The reason I'm giving this visit 2 starts is because of what we experienced overnight in our room. Around 2 AM, we heard a very, very LOUD screech that startled us & woke us up. The noise was not going away and it was extremely loud! Super frustrating. Unfortunately, I can't post a video here but it kept us up ALL night! Turns out, it was a tree that kept hitting our window. It iced up due to the snow and it was extremely windy outside. Imagine trying to sleep and hearing a noise that would not stop!! We were up throughout the night. Our stay was supposed to be quiet & relaxing (it's one of our first getaways since the pandemic) and it was extremely frustrated that we could not sleep. I emailed the hotel along with my video of this loud tree. In my email, I said something needs to be made right for us. The woman who replied back said she contacted the town and she'll upgrade us to a waterview room next time???!! How unhelpful is that?! My fiancé paid quite some money as Danford's is not cheap and they offered us an upgrade for next time!? Talk about lousy customer service. I don't care about next time, I'm talking about NOW! What a ridiculous way to lure us in again and spend more money on our next visit. Total disappoint with their management. Anyways, here's the tree right outside our window

The young man bartending tonight was rude and needs to go back to bartending school. The drinks were disgusting and he forgot to put in our food order. It's no wonder why the bar was empty

danfords on the water port jefferson ny . I went there for lunch not a very big selection and ate light. I ordered salad with grilled chicken with my friends no bread on table no nothing. We paid36.00 for a small salad no less with grilled chicken small portion crazy. I'm not a cheep person because we also bought a bottle of wine ok it was 65, wine ok but salad to tiny service just ok. Would never go back again felt like we really got ripped off

I was very disappointed by my experience at the Danford. It's the only place to stay in Port Jeff and looks like it would be a cute place based on what I saw online when I was booking but I was deceived. The two redeeming things are location and it's on a marina so it has pretty views. It's so expensive and not worth it at all. The first room we stayed in had cracks all over the bathroom floors to the point that it was chipping away and you could see a hole. The shower was terrible, the two temperatures were the Atlantic Ocean in the dead of winter or boiling water. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone having conversations in other rooms or walking around. We changed rooms on our last night because we were so fed up with staying up all night long. There were a couple weddings happening (that we were not part of) and the bridal party groups were so loud and the venue was right across from our room. The second room we had was updated a lot more recently and felt cleaner but it also had paper thin walls and the world's smallest bathroom. On my bill after I checked out of Danfords, I saw that it said the destination fee included parking and a welcome drink... no one offered us a welcome drink. I did however PAY for the worst martini I've ever had. In the end, I personally would not recommend staying here until they do serious updates. It's not worth it.

Christmas Buffet?? What a joke? Food was Not good at all, service was Just not there, & staff is no where to be found, & takes forever when you ask for a simple request..like maybe a clean utensil.

Last weekend we attended a wedding here for a dear friend. He is a widower, she has been divorced for, I understand 37 years. I guess none of that is important so let's talk about Danford''s. Danford's is located in Port Jefferson harbor overlooking the harbor. The facility boasts a restaurant, bar, hotel rooms, and a full service marina. In the summer this place is jumping. They often have live entertainment on the dock. We were to a retirement party here a coupling years ago which was very nice so we figured this would be just as good. It was better. There's a wing of the building that has a few rooms for affairs of this nature. The affair was relatively small, about 40 people and the room was Comfortable. A bar at one end and a buffet of food at the other, and tables in between. There was not enough room for dancing but not a big deal. Mostly an older group anyway. The food. The food was the star of the wedding. Plenty of it and a very nice selection. The staff kept refilling the buffet so you never felt like you were taking too much. The decor was also very nice. Sort of a colonial feel. All in all we had a really nice time. Of course everyone was talking about the coronavirus but we all know each other very well so it wasn't an issue. Would I go back. Well during the summer you can find me on the dock at their main restaurant having drinks, so a big yes.

My fiancé and I spend this past Friday night celebrating Valentines Weekend, & his Birthday Weekend. We were greeted at the lobby by Dee, she was so friendly and accommodating and made our stay unforgettable. The room was beautiful with all the nautical feels. And the view from our room was amazing. I definitely recommend staying here!

They are understaffed. Our waitress was very nice but had to handle too many tables resulting in terrible service. Five of us ate there and three of us had terrible meals. The salmon slimy and inedible and shrimp smelled bad. Avoid this restaurant.

Creat stay at the Danford Inn. Came here for a weekend wedding. Enjoyed the room and the hotel staff was excellent. This is not The Four Seasons, but it is the best spot in town to stay, and if you're lucky enough to get a view of the harbor, that's a bonus! A short walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Will definitely stay here again.

We had been going to Danfords for years, but after our last experience in 2024, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. On that visit, Danfords appeared to be under new management, with a front desk lady (who acted like a manager, but who claimed not to be the manager, and who told us the manager was not available). In our opinion, she appeared to take great pleasure in being abrasive, snarky, and essentially calling us liars in regard to the room we told her we had reserved. How did this happen? We did not have a printed copy of the Danfords' confirmation with us when we arrived, and according this lady, Danfords' own records showed a reservation for a different room, and without a fireplace--even though we clearly remembered we had reserved the room we wanted (we had it previously, and it had a fireplace). We had discussed this with the reservation clerk months earlier. Now my spouse wanted to leave. And the front desk lady, in addition to insulting us, threatened that if we left without taking the room shown on their reservation system, we would still owe the full amount for that room either way. In short, Tough Luck! In addition to telling us that the room we had booked was not available, she told us that Danfords had no working fireplaces at that time of the year (Spring). So, goodbye Danfords. For the price, it is not difficult to find a better place with a view that beats those old power plant towers.

Danfords is in beautiful Port Jeff station on the water and is across from the ferry. My cousin and I were visiting there to look for a room to rent to have a birthday party. The hotel itself is decorated in a nautical theme. You can valet your car or pay to park your car. We looked at two rooms to rent for a party one smaller to hold 70 people and the other 100 or more. Both beautiful but very different. I can't comment on food or the hotel.

Almost 800$. Tile completely off of bathroom floor. Peeling wallpaper. Mold on ceiling. Paid for the eat sleep etc. Had to pay full for the dinner, never received wine. This place is disgusting and embarrassing. The staff was lovely and very apologetic.

What a dump. Felt like I Paid over $200 for one night at a motel. Door to balcony didn't open.. window to second floor didn't lock so we didn't feel safe. Zero amenities. Gave us two free drink tickets to the bar..but the bartender couldn't act more annoyed. Hated this place and left early. We Travel and stay at hotels constantly and haven't left a review like this in ages. Nightstand dresser drawers were skanky too. Waste of money. Awful. Only thing wad a view of the harbor. Could have parked for free and admired it for ten minutes and left. Don't let them charge you this kind of money

We have always loved coming here. we got engaged here and try to come each summer. The experience has always felt "upscale "but over the last few years it has changed. The bartender was actually wearing pants so low that his underwear was showing. Sure in certain bars , that's ok snd even expected, but not at Danfords! It looks beautiful and the prices are up there but it's not what is used to be. I can go anywhere for that kind of experience.

We paid 431$ for one night for no hot water and barely heat. You pay for the view and the village.

I have never experienced such an unprofessional bartender. my friend and I took a seat at the inside bar and were ignored but we waited patiently. we ordered 2 drinks at $18 each sub par I might add. He just threw the drinks on the bar no coaster no napkin no smile!! then when we were done he yells across the bar out total. who does that ?! I understand that they were busy but the other bartender treated his customers with a smile. if he were nicer we planned on ordering another drink and food. no way !!!

This place is a total rip-off, but I guess when you're the only gig in town, complacency with mediocre (at best) can be expected. Dingy, loud, worn out decking with peeling and lifting wood planks...If you MUST stay here- be aware, there are no phones in the rooms to reach the front desk, and ALWAYS ask for the top floor, if you don't want to listen to herds of elephants stomping above you.

Had lunch at the restaurant in Danfords today. It was awful. Service was slow and inexperienced. Food was distasteful. Ordered two "salmon specials" and received two "slider platters". Also ordered a beet salad that was swimming in a pool of dressing with undercooked shrimp. All you are paying for is the view. Beware.

I guess it's more of a 2.5. I need to start checking Yelp before booking EVEN if it's the "nicer" hotel where everyone in the wedding is staying... There was another hotel, which was less expensive and I'm gonna bet we would have been happier there as a general rule. The up side of Danford's: only $8 for parking and though the one lot is really small (we were some of the lucky ones who found a spot there initially), many of their rooms (including ours) are closer to a much bigger lot and there's plenty of parking in that lot. The view is great from the resort, but our room had a view of a boring street. The hotel overall is pretty old and fairly run down. The rooms weren't impressive at all. It's close to a lot of great places to eat and walking around is very easy there, but unless you have a room with a view, I'd suggest staying elsewhere. Heck, unless you REALLY CARE about having a room with a view, I'd say you should save your money and stay down the road a few minutes. You'll have to drive more, but you'll probably be happier. Our fridge didn't seem more than slightly cooler than leaving things on the air conditioner. The TV was tiny (not that we watched a lot, but still) and the remote didn't really work. The toilet paper was thin and rough. Carpets were worn, glass on the top of the end table kept almost sliding off, there were no convenient outlets you could use to charge your phone anywhere near you, the clock was totally wrong and neither of us could figure out how to fix it, so we just unplugged it, ... There's no express check-out, so you have to go to the desk personally. In many ways, staying here is like going back in time and not really in a good way. Tiny TV, no express checkout, outdated everything, etc. Also, there was no safe - at least not that we could find and we opened all cabinets and closets. The experience BEFORE getting there was also pretty terrible. They couldn't answer questions about parking very well and were pretty rude when responding to some inquiries. The staff I encountered on site was great, but I should have listened to the pre-arrival experience and gone elsewhere. My advice is to save money and stay somewhere you'll probably like more.

The setting of the restaurant is spectacular but the kitchen is not worthy of either the location or the history of the establishment. Shameful! And it's pricey!?

Wow, Dennis was the best. Very polite and friendly. Dennis was attentive to our needs. Peter, the help was, the cutest and very polite too. This is the service everyone will appreciate, unlike Joey Z's service to us earlier was the most unprofessional I've ever experienced. Danforth is the place to relax and enjoy.

stayed at Danford's in Port Jeff on 7/3/24 and checked out the morning of 7/4/24. I gave my credit card upon check in. checked out 7/4 and received a pending charge for $102.55 on my card on 7/5. I call and they tell me it was 2 bottles of alcohol charged to the room. I never gave my name or room number or charged any alcohol to my room while at Danfords. I received no receipt. i called several times. I'm either left on hold. told it's too busy to call back. told someone will call me back. this is unacceptable! they have nothing to show I charged 2 bottles of alcohol to my Room because I did not. the charge also says it was 7/4. I check out 7/4 morning and we were in our room before mofnight on 7/3. Do better Danfords! Not going back. Customer service is horrible.

I used Danford's own website to book a 2-story, dog - friendly suite for the night of Black Friday (11/29/24). I made the reservations the weekend immediately after Halloween, and my bank statement shows the $400+ bill being deducted on 11/4/24. On the morning of the day we checked in, I called Danfords to ensure that all was a go with my reservation, as i never received any confirmation emails or follow ups beyond confirmation on the website the day i made the reservation. I called Danfords, and the gentleman on the phone confirmed the reservation. He told me check in begins at 4pm. We were running a bit late, and initially tried to check in at 5:30 pm. The hotel clerk, Ivy (who i in no way blame for what I'm about to discuss) informed me that there was a "discrepancy" with the room. She asked for 10 -15 minutes to sort it out, so I laid back and waited a bit. After returning to the counter, I observed a woman speaking with the hotel clerk about her room. I didn't catch many details of the conversation, but it sounded like she was working out an issue of her own regarding the room she was staying in. When i spoke with the hotel clerk, she told me that she had staff check the room, and it was good to go. Something inside me told me to check the room before i brought my girlfriend and dog inside, and im glad that i did. I opened the door with the freshly activated keys, and the woman i had seen down at the counter was in the suite with her kids! WTF?! How does that even happen? I went back downstairs to the hotel counter, and Ivy did her best to apologize for the mix up. She told us we were being upgraded to the Presidential Suite, which is also in the main building. She told me that it was more expensive than the room i had booked. Erring on the side of caution once more, I checked out the room first. It was only one story, but still a nicely equipped room, with access to a shared balcony, and a GREAT view. But this room still just didnt seem to match or surpass the large suite we had booked, so i checked out Danford's website, and the thumbnail said $194 (less than half of what i paid for the original suite). Now I'm getting VERY angry, and I approached Ivy once more, and she showed me some kind of voodoo where one can turn a $194 advertised price on the thumbnail into $615 at checkout. Poor Ivy & the nonsense these clerks and managers have to deal with! It was clear that I had made her upset with my anger, and I apologized to her, and let her know that i completely understand that she was not blame for the issues, I was just venting more than anything. Anyways, I grabbed my GF & dog (who were now by this time annoyed, because they had been waiting in the car for about 45 mins by this point) and about 10 seconds after we walked into the room, our dog sniffed out a large, dried urine stain on the bedroom floor, just outside the bathroom. At that point, I just laughed and wiped it up with chlorox wipes. The rest of the night was excellent, and the room was in fact lovely. The final jab came at checkout. That 15 minute period where I was accidentally double booked? Yeah....That lady ordered over $100 of room service that somehow got billed to MY card, leaving the money out of my account for several days before it was returned. Mistakes happen, but I would NEVER have known of this mistake had I not looked at the emailed receipt. When I saw this charge to my account, I walked back up to the front desk, where the manager on duty (not Ivy, another woman who's name I do not recall) who had just checked me out 5 mins prior, explained what happened without even looking at the receipt, because she already knew. Yet, she didn't think that this was something I should know about?! THAT angers me. Danfords, you need to get your house in order! Your website pricing system needs to be fixed ASAP, you need to make sure that your housekeeping & maintenance team is properly staffed, and you REALLY need to fix whatever mistakes led to the room I booked a month out being occupied BEFORE I check in (they had an extra 90 mins since i checked in late I might add, and I had also called that morning to confirm the reservation). The manager that checked me out of the room informed me that the mix up was caused by the lady who had the room extending her stay at the last minute. She was initially supposed to move to another room, but she Karen'ed her way into keeping the one she had so that she didn't have to. Maybe she will leave a review as well! While these issues were all eventually either corrected or dealt with as best as possible, next time I want a romantic night in a storied Long Island Hotel I'll be heading out to Montauk instead.
