Dangerously Delicious Pies opened their new Midtown location on Friday, and my wife and I were excited to stop in for dinner today. We got three pie slices between the two of us and were pleasantly full (but not overstuffed) when we walked out. I got the tasty S.M.O.G. (steak, mushrooms, onions, and Gruyere cheese) which was hearty and satisfying with a nice flaky crust and creamy filling. My wife got the B.B.Q. pulled pork, which she seemed to really like. For dessert, we split the Baltimore Bomb which has a shortbread cookie crust with buttermilk custard filling and dark chocolate on top. It tasted a little bit like an extra delicious, extra rich Insomnia Cookie to me, and I thought it was the best pie of the three we had. Dangerously Delicious Pies offers a pretty uncontroversial, tasty, affordable takeout option to a neighborhood that has historically lacked those. I'm glad they've found a new home! My wife and I will definitely be back.

I recently was gifted two pies from a Niece of mine who lives near the Downriver location. She brought a whole Smog pie, flaky, hearty, well seasoned pie awesome for lunch or dinner. The pie itself was easy to heat in the oven and stayed quite moist. The second was their B.B. pie a custard and chocolate pie that was rich with a flakier crust I've ever tasted! Definately a 'go too" spot for all your pie needs, I'll be visiting the MidTown location soon! 4/7/17 Update on the Midtown location....I stopped in for a quick pickup and go, the location was eady to find, parking was quick n easy but the vibe I got when I walked in...Homey! Felt Like I jus walked into a Hip and currant Grandma's home, with a funky red couch, artwork and more seating I was nicely surprised! The Pie you ask? As like any other times it was delisious! I grabbed a couple of their Turtle Pies (pecan pie with coconut in it and chocolate & carmel drizzled on top) Yum! They even ask you if you want them warmed up...nice touch D.D.P. I'll be back anytime I'm in the Midtown or Cass Corridor area, nicely located down the street from Great Lakes Coffee Co.

Google
It's all right in the name. The pies are dangerously delicious. Would be a 5 of service was a little faster, but pie slices are re-baked as they are ordered, so it takes a few minutes. Worth the wait though!

Google
I did not have dessert (which looked delicious), but the savory pies were decent. However, they were pretty expensive for how "okay" they were. If I go back, it'll just be for dessert.

Handle Barbarian

Google
I like their new location! I always go in and order two different slices, because I refuse to settle on any one of their fantastic flavours. (It's okay, you can take some home... So I've been told).

Google
The pies are good, but not many drinks to pair with Store has an interesting interior If you order a savory pie for there, you get a side salad SMOG is my favorite

Google
Seems a bit disorganized after reopening with new management, but great service never the less. Pies were delicious and filling. Not sure I'd recommend the chocolate as a chocolate connisour.

Google
This place is really cute. I love the name and they have a nice ambiance. Their pies just dont fit the name. Everything looked dry and the Apple pie was bland

Yelp
Quiche lovers?! Theirs was highly recommended by several people and I was in the area... so it made sense to stop in. I was greeted with a smile and caught a glimpse of a variety of irresistible looking treats. I was told to try the leek quiche, but they no longer make it so I tried the only other option. It's delightful.

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit Warda for years but I just haven't been able to due to the limited hours. Finally this past week I was able to carve out some time to visit. When we walked in about an hour from closing, it looked like they had run out of a number of the items in the display case. Still, they had several things we wanted to try but we ended up only getting one item since we were quite full from lunch. Coconut Ube Flan ($8) - I've only had Mexican Flan before so this was a nice departure from the usual. First bite - woah, this has the perfect "not too sweet" sweetness level. The coconutty flavor is in the forefront, with the earthy ube a bit more muted in the background (interestingly enough, my partner thought that it was the opposite, with the ube more noticeable). The custard itself is rich, mixed with coconut milk and quite thick like almost halfway between a custard and cheesecake. It's not nearly as jiggly as Mexican flan. The custard is encapsulated by a very nice baked shortbread-like crust. The top of the dessert is a firmer baked layer - I don't believe there's anything specific added, but it's just the custard caramelizing into a new layer, adding a bit of a different texture. There's shaved coconut sprinkled on top to enhance the coconut flavor. The slice of flan doesn't look that big but is very filling - one slice between the two of us was enough for both to feel full afterwards. (5/5) Warda Patisserie has been racking up the awards and for good reason; the sweets here are high quality and exceptionally delicious.

Yelp
After an early brunch, we realized that we were not done catching up so we headed to Warda for more food and conversation. I was excited to finally end up here; the bakery has been on my radar for over a year. The space has high ceilings, like most commercial places, with large windows that allow a lot of light. That, combined with the paint color and furnishings makes the place bright and airy. As soon as I entered, I was drawn to the small case of baked goods. There were fewer items available than I expected, based on all the photos on Instagram. Of course, I now realize that the menu is seasonal and therefore items change quickly. I ordered several items and enjoyed a bite each before storing everything in my fridge to enjoy throughout the week. As I sipped iced coffee, I had the Nutella-flavored maritozzo, a brioche bun filled with cream and Nutella. This was probably my least preferred item of everything I purchased. The lemon mascarpone tart was amazing. The crust stayed crispy into the second day; I appreciated the light lemon curd which was smooth and not tart. As well, the mascarpone "meringue" was oh, so creamy. What I noted about this dessert and the others I had was that it was not cloyingly sweet. The apricot and pistachio flan was fantastic. It was creamy with subtle tastes of apricot. Finally, I sampled the financiers, cakes with a coarse crumb and elegantly topped with yummy flavors. In all, this was a great visit. I was finally able to support this excellent local bakery.

Yelp
A quaint little spot in the Cass Corridor section of Detroit. Very decadent and some savory offerings are available along with coffee and tea. We tried the small round pastries - black sesame/mango financier. Although small, they are super sweet and can satisfy your sweet cravings. There is limited seating available inside and some small table/chairs outside. Wi-Fi is free but I wouldn't advise pulling open a laptop and working here too long due to low/knee height tables inside. Could possibly work at outside tables if weather is nice. A great place to grab a unique pastry/tart, quiche, coffee/tea or slice of cheesecake.

Yelp
Delectable, Dynamic, and Down to earth When you first walk into Warda Patisserie, you are delighted by the salivating smells wafting from the kitchen and the delectable arrangements of pastries, leading your eyes (and stomach) further into the shop. Feasting first, with the eyes, you will notice that the flavor combinations on the pastries are out-of-the-ordinary (with a flavor to match). For example, Ube Flan, Yuzu Mousselline, and Mango Black Sesame Financiers, to name a few. I asked the staff about the inspiration for the flavors and was informed of Warda Bouguettaya's global pastry education. I even had the opportunity to meet her, as she was standing right behind me! For being an award-winning, critically acclaimed chef, her humility and centeredness spoke loudly! I was eager to try these treats and chose an item she recommended: her Ube Flan. It was an excellent balance of flavor, not too sweet, adorned with toasted coconut, and an excellent start to my Saturday. Also, the space, although intimate and close-quarters, was not loud for a Saturday morning. Every table was filled, but people were quick to enjoy their pastries and then get on with the rest of their day. With a friendly and knowledgeable staff, Warda's Patisserie should be a must-go if you are looking for delicious treats, a good way to start the weekend, or an excuse to treat yourself. Anyway, if you are looking for a superb bakery then look no further.

Yelp
Lovely airy cafe with delicious pastries. We tried the ube flan, mango sesame financier, a grenada, and the quiche. The pastries were all super flavorful with great texture. The quiche was perfectly seasoned, super light and airy. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful pastries and wonderful staff. Beautiful interior and a nice display of food!

Yelp
Not a large selection but what they do have is pretty good. Ordered the chocolate maritozzi which was fluffy and airy, and not too sweet. It's a pretty small location but has outdoor seating during warmer days.

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about Warda Patisserie and they've been over here winning awards left and right! I finally got to try them out a few months ago and WOW!! Even me, a person who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, found so many pastries and desserts that I wanted to buy and try! So much so, I couldn't make my mind up so I got a whole selection to take home and try throughout the week! Everything I had was so good and I know that they rotate their selection pretty frequently, so I'm excited to come back here again soon to see what other new goodies they have to offer! They have a small sitting area past their pastry counter for you to sit and eat in! It's simple, chic, and modern design and very upscale to fit the vibe of Warda! It's definitely pretty small so during busier hours you might not find a spot here, but I feel as though Warda is designed for more grab and go! We only stayed here to eat our tart for about 15 minutes before we were on our way again! The person who put all my pastries in a box was super helpful as well and told me how to best store everything and which items to prioritize eating first. Loved that! Will definitely be back soon to get more yummies!

Yelp
Great place to visit for a catch up chatting with friend(s). The shop staffs are very friendly in a cute and livery atmosphere. Their coffee and pastries were fresh and excellent (not over sugared). Only thing is the sitting space is small with small tables and chairs even for a small & thin woman. There is a parking building with a reasonable fee is across the street from the shop. It is worth visiting if you are in midtown Detroit area.

Yelp
The pastry shop is so beautiful and everything is set up so elegant! The two ladies that run it are amazing. Everything is so aesthetically appealing, all of their desserts. I didn't feel like the taste matched the ambiance. I had a pie with asparagus and Chèvre cheese which everyone seemed to be ordering and it was gross. Tasted like whipped egg. Me and my business partner felt the same sentiments. We mostly ate the crust. I also got a cup of cappuccino and it tasted like mud. I'm glad they were so accommodating and swapped it out for a tea. I can say I've been but it's not my cup of tea....literally

Yelp
Warda in Midtown makes you remember how to love a perfectly made pastry. Yes it's quite expensive, but every single bite is worth it. Their pastry is perfectly laminated while being light and crispy. They have exciting flavors like this egg and butternut squash tart and a Walnut frangipane tart that was out of this world. Everything was beautifully executed accompanied with a marvelous staff and great ambience! If you're looking for something close to perfection in Detroit - Warda is your place to be.

Yelp
This place is so elegant and beautiful! All the pastries look like pieces of art. We tried couple of their pastries. I especially liked the dough filled with cream. The vanilla bean latte and chicory latte were so delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is a really cool little place I've been meaning to try for a while now. I've been quite disappointed the last couple times I've been to Cannelle downtown, but it seems to always be in walking distance from other things I'm already doing in the neighborhood. So we decided to take the three minute drive to Warda, and I'm very glad we did. The staff was super friendly from the start, like genuinely so. And the various pastries we had were all good to outstanding. The chocolate chip cookies are some of the best I've had, and the financiers are really interesting and full of flavor. The matcha strawberry was especially delicious, and I usually don't care for strawberry, so that's saying something. The madeline was a bit on the dry side, but the pudding we had was quite good. I'd definitely visit again to try more things. I like that it's a little off the beaten track, as well, because parking is a million times easier, and it just feels more relaxing versus bustling or loud. But it's the pastries that would keep me coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent spot for pastries and coffee/espresso! Great vibes with a few tables (maybe not the best for working for a long period of time though!) inside and outside. Staff is super friendly and informative on all pastries. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Having heard about the awards Warda Patisserie has received, I wanted to try it for myself. On the Saturday morning I visited, it was mostly empty (probably due to poor weather) and the pastries weren't quite fully stocked yet, but there was an ample assortment. I asked for recommendations and then tried an assortment - goat cheese and leek quiche, lemon mascarpone tart, coffee flan, a chocolate halwah cookie, and a couple of financiers (mango and strawberry matcha). We split everything among three people. The quiche was everyone's favorite - it had an amazing silky texture and the goat cheese added a nice light flavor. We would all definitely go back for another slice of quiche, though it was on the pricey side. Our next favorite was the lemon tart, which had just the right amount of tart, meaning you could actually taste the lemon unlike most bakeries which are more sweet. The cookie was indeed delicious with a little salt to balance the sweet. The financiers had an interesting spongy texture but I wasn't overwhelmed with the flavor of either and would probably skip these next time. Service was very quick and polite. There's a nice little side room with tables if you want to eat in. Overall, I recommend a visit and I definitely recommend trying the quiche.

Yelp
Warda is a small quaint cafe/ patisserie in Detroit I recently discovered and can't rave enough about! The bakery itself is a little small but the seating area and decor are beautiful. The desserts are small and dainty yet very flavorful. The menu items are on the pricier side (especially for how small the dessert is ) so I personally wouldn't go here all the time but it's nice to indulge every now and then. The cheesecake was light and not too sweet. My only complaint about the other little pastries is that I wish they were bigger! Two bites and you're done but the flavors and textures make it all worth it. Staff was also very friendly, everyone was helpful!

Yelp
Come on! As if u need my review... simply the best! Beautiful offerings every time we go!

Yelp
I got a birthday cake for my wife. It was not only beautiful but also delicious. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Definitely worth the drive up from Toledo. I know we'll be making the trip again.

Yelp
The baklava latte and mint tea were very good and refreshing. The desserts and pastries were great, but the items were very expensive.

Yelp
While showing a friend around the metro area recently, Warda Patisserie was at the top of her list after its recent James Beard award. So down we drove from Ann Arbor to check the place out! Located on the first floor of a mixed use building, the place was swarming already when we arrived at 10 AM. A line stretched out the door, and patrons were already outside enjoying pastries and snacks at the small tables. We snagged a parking spot on the street and waited our turn to order. Everything looked tempting in the pastry case, and many items were already sold out for the day, but we still managed to grab some good treats. I got the last piece of the Greek Tart for the day, and we got some sweets to split - flan, a chocolate chip cookie, and a vanilla cream puff. We were lucky enough to get a table outside in the shade, and we eagerly dug into our food. No bite was disappointing, and even when we finished everything, I could have easily gotten seconds. A unique and delicious addition to the Detroit food scene, Warda Patisserie deserves a visit!

Yelp
Great coffee! Short wait. They are selling boutique chocolates for VD. Yum! The quiche was okay, but overpriced at $12 ($13?).
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
A lot of reviews rave about this place, but I found it just ok. The bakery items are very carefully crafted and beautiful. I had a cream filled brioche and ate about a quarter of it, then stopped. The taste was maybe too subtle for me...just kind of blah. They do have about 4 gluten free items that my daughter says are delicious--so definitely try those if you are gluten free. If you love giant traditional Paczki, gooey East Coast cinnamon buns, creme-filled Dunkin Donuts, and pies and cakes crammed full of fat and sugar, you will not find those here. To me, this is more food art than bakery. I will definitely not rush back.

C D.

Yelp
There should be a line up around the block for these wonderful masterpieces. But until then - I will just relish the enjoyment of every morsel every chance I get. Thank you chef, staff and Detroit!

Yelp
I went here just before noon on a Friday and was shocked to find it basically empty. What a little treasure in Midtown to have a place like this with such high quality sweet and savory patisserie. When I went they had what kind of looked like vegetable wellingtons or flaky pasty hand pies -- vegetables and cheese cooked inside a flaky dough. They had so many custard desserts that looked good -- I remember seeing a flan cheesecake that looked delectable. There was some kind of coffee pudding. They had madeleines and little chocolate circle pastries and a cookie. I wanted to eat everything! The espresso machine was down when I was there but I was still able to order a chicory root latte, which is great for someone like me who is always seeking coffee alternatives. It was tasty and I would order it again but I noticed they appeared to have another coffee alternative on the list, a rooibus latte. Lots of big windows let nice natural light in here. The place sort of gives off deli vibes except there is a cozy little seating area with patio chairs off to the side, mostly for two-tops, if I remember correctly so I don't think this place would be great for a group. Let's not sleep on Warda Patisserie in its newest location, Detroit! Let's support this award-winning, female, minority owned biz while we have it!
google avatar

Michele M.

Yelp
I visited Warda Patisserie for the first time on Sunday. I tried the egg tart and it was delicious. It was a combination of a flaky crust, potatoes and egg. I loved the cute place and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Alicia L.

Yelp
When I saw that Warda Bouguettaya won the 2022 James Beard award for Outstanding Pastry Chef, I told my mom that we needed to go! We went for breakfast and each got a generously sized slice of quiche and when I say this was the best quiche I've ever had in my life I'm 100% serious. I don't know how they got the inside consistency to be so creamy and custardy while still having the deliciously browned top and crust! I believe the fillings change frequently but ours had asparagus and goat cheese and was incredible. We then split the most beautiful and glossy chocolate and pear tart and enjoyed that with our coffees. The staff was so helpful and friendly guiding us in our decision and bringing our coffees outside to our table. We got a ton of pastries to go and tried them at home but I loved the ambiance of the patisserie, so I'd recommend going and eating there!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my goodness, drop whatever you're doing and head to Warda Patisserie - you won't regret it. I made the drive over today after seeing that Warda just won the James Beard Award for best pastry chef (this award is literally the Oscar's of the entire USA culinary industry) and it was AMAZING. I got a couple of different things to split with my family and we all loved everything. We got a torta, madeline, chocolate/halva cookie, pistachio biscotti, and mango cheesecake. They were all absolutely delicious, and in particular the cheesecake smelled and tasted heavenly. Street parking was conveniently available directly across the street and we sat at one of Warda's tables outside and it was a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely be a return customer!
google avatar

Fifi C.

Yelp
The best coffee flan I ever tasted. It's smooth with perfect consistency and texture with perfect balance of coffee and sweetness. I also love their financiers. They are very moist with refreshing fillings. The cafe is nicely decorated, bright and relaxing. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Heidi P.

Yelp
Amazing pastries! The chocolate chip cookies had sesame seeds which brought an awesome flavor. I can't wait to go back and try more things. Make sure you go early because things sell out fast!
google avatar

Aparna B.

Yelp
I think this place used to be a pie place but I can't remember.. either way Warda is a great small cafe and patisserie in the Cass Corridor. I got an iced chickory latte with oat milk and it was very refreshing. They also have a whole case of beautiful French pastries but I didn't get a chance to try any this visit!

Paul M.

Yelp
bad service, asked for iced latte and was given hot, chaotic environment, not many pastries to choose from
google avatar

Hebert C.

Yelp
Friendly service and some of the most incredibly executed creative pastries you will find. The drinks are also very well made.
google avatar

Lylian D.

Yelp
Rice pudding was inedible -0/5. Tasted like a candle and texture was way off. Russian Cake was good and moist. We also got two of what looked like cookies (matcha/strawberry and lemon/blueberry/chocolate) which were also good. 4 items for $24. Rice pudding really disappointed us, and not sure price tag matches the quality/flavor. There wasn't much of a selection when we came in, maybe it's better on a different day.
google avatar

Pooja M.

Yelp
So good!! Pastries were amazing and had a lot of variety. Spinach tart was super flaky. Mango cheesecake was a favorite. Definitely will return!

Yelp
OMG. I should really reserve 5 stars for truly outstanding places. This place def deserves it. I got a leek and goat cheese quiche and black sesame/mango financier. The financier was sooo good and wasn't too sweet. My perfect kind of dessert! Omg. The quiche was literally the best quiche I ever had. It was so creamy and again the texture was perfect. I initially came in for the egg potato tart thing, but they had just sold out. So the cashier suggested the quiche. I was pretty disappointed they ran out and had low expectations for the quiche but it was soooo good! the couple sitting next to me let me have the rest of their dessert (which i guess it's kinda sketch to eat after someone but...). I forgot what it was called but it was like a chocolate tart that was also perfect on the taste, sugar, and texture. I had to order more dessert before I left. I got a plum and custard brioche and a matcha/strawberry financier. Again the financier was perfect. The brioche was "ok." But with 3/4 things being excellent, the brioche was just an outlier. I am going on a crazy diet tomorrow for the next few months because of eczema, but I will be dreaming about this place til I can eat it again!

Bahar E.

Yelp
Since Warda Patisserie won James Beard Award this year, I have been meaning to visit! We had quiches, tortas and halva cookies and lattes. Everything was of great quality, freshly baked and tasted better than everyone could have imagined. If you are in Detroit Metro, I highly recommend trying this pastry shop!

Cass L.

Yelp
exquisite beyond compare and beautiful to look at. so very creative even on standards such as linzer cookies. a great deal of very hard work and talent , best pain de spice i have ever eaten.

Yelp
Fantastic! Met some friends for a light brunch. Fresh and amazing! Detroit has some really amazing places to eat!
google avatar

Kensey W.

Yelp
So happy about this little place. Everything here looks beautiful and perfectly constructed but the good looks are totally backed up by substance. I personally loved the goat cheese quiche I had, which was very creamy and silky, almost custardy, and not at all stiff or rubbery like sometimes quiche can be. But it still had enough structure and was filling. The flavor was perfect and not too heavy, and definitely not too salty, like I'm always afraid things will be. I also got the try the lemon tart, which had a very fresh lemony taste. I usually don't like fruity things, but it went so well with the buttery crust and was just the refreshing desserty kind of thing I was in the mood for. There's a lot more I need to try here - I wish they had better hours and especially that they were open on Sundays!
google avatar

Leena K.

Yelp
really disappointed to give this review....but the pastries were not good! I tried the passion fruit meringue tart and egg and potato pastry. the tart was very cold and had overpowering sweet and sour flavor that wasn't pleasant, felt more like a sour lemon than a sweet tart. the egg and potato pastry had no flavor, missing salt and pepper. the puff pastry was nice and flakey but the tart crust was very hard. the inside is very nice and the service is nice but the pastry's are not good.

Andrea F.

Yelp
Financiers were the best by far. Sooo good I had to get one of each flavor! Black Sesame with mango was probably my favorite of the three. I also got a coffee (not pictured). Everything is authentic and the staff is kind. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
This is my favorite pastry spot in Michigan by far!!! Deeply thankful to have a place like this here. The food is sublime, the tortas are amazing the jams in the sablés are so fresh, and each item I try there becomes my new favorite!!
google avatar

Virginia L.

Yelp
Surprised I didn't stop by sooner. They are located inside of Trinosophes and the set-up is cozy. Some tables and chairs for you to enjoy your coffee with your buddy. I liked how spacious it was in there and the different book selections. It's definitely a different but cool hip vibe in there. The treats are amazing and v unique. My first order from them was the Chinese New Year sampler and it was hella memorable. It's not often you can find beautiful AND delicious treats like these. The pineapple tart and hualian tea tart were divine, full of color, texture and quality. I saw they had other selections at the shop but I knew my eyes can be a wee bit greedy when it comes to food. Street and back public parking available. Can't wait to come back to feast on more delicious treats.

Yelp
Warda always Impresses! every pastry I've ever eaten from this place has always knocked my socks off . They hit every mark . Texture? 10/10. flavor? 15/10. presentation ? 20/10! If you are interested in baking / pastry arts , please check this place out and see for yourself how really beautiful these desserts are.

Sheela L.

Yelp
Fantastic flavors and techniques. I never leave with just one pastry! They try to incorporate as many seasonal flavors as possible.

Clare W.

Yelp
Warda truly has the most amazing European pastries and coffee. Its is truly authentic with high quality ingredients and sublime flavours which are perfectly executed. Warda makes baking an art form.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was delicious and more than anything we loved that the owner and chef was there to answer questions and give recommendations. She was super sweet and helpful and takes such pride in her work. Her enthusiasm was contagious so we ordered more than we expected and ate every bite (except for the last bite which we offered to who we now know as Amanda B.;)) quiche was creamy, mushroom tart was flavorful and also creamy. Chocolate tart had a nutty, creamy, crunchy chocolate texture, chef uses Valrhona which we totally appreciate. The place had a very hip vibe which I usually avoid, but totally willing to overlook to enjoy Warda's amazing pastry.

Yelp
The best pastries, quiche & treats! I ordered a quiche for a family gathering and it was to die for. Everything is fantastic. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place. Service is great, pastries (both savory and sweet) are excellent, and the ambiance is also nice and spacious. Definitely one of my favorite spots since moving to Detroit last year. Pastries are French and Asian-Influenced.
