I really like the princess cake. It has thin layers of sponge cake, jam, and cream on top!!! Also has a cute Denmark flag. Other pastries are good but kinda sweet

Absolutely loved the place ! Everything we tried was absolutely tasty. The dough in all the pastries was delicious, moist and so fresh. The atmosphere is also very nice!

Google
It was too sweet for my taste. Did I expect too much? It's worth tasting at least once. But I felt a little bad after eating. Is it because of my mood?

This charming little bakery is absolutely delightful! The Danish bread is perfectly sweet and wonderfully soft. It’s the perfect spot to take a cozy coffee break and enjoy a treat!

During our visit to Solvang, we were eager to sample a Danish pastry, so we visited this local bakery. They offered a variety of pastries, and those we tried were delicious; the mocha coffee was excellent. However, the service we received was disappointing. As first-time visitors, we were unsure of the ordering and seating process. When we sought clarification from an employee, their response was frustrating and unfriendly. This negative experience led me to rate their service with one star.

Google
This is one of many Danish bakery shops. Free parking on street. Handicap parking and handicap access are available. The animated baker figures in the front window are fun to watch. Interior is neat clean and organized. There ls a large selection of pastries. All look yummy. Customer service is friendly and courteous.

Google
I was in Solvang for the day and it's a MUST to stop at this bakery to purchase their Danish cinnamon loaf bread, so delicious! This loaf has enough sweet & flavor for anyone. If you enjoy having a treat with your coffee this is the treat to enjoy!

Yelp
What's a trip to Solvang without stopping at Danish Mill Bakery? We visited on our last day to grab the famous cookies and enjoy some coffee for breakfast, along with a selection of pastries. Our experience was delightful. The bakery looks lovely and has a cozy interior where you can get seated if you choose to enjoy your treats on-site. The staff were welcoming and friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The cookies were just as delicious as we had hoped, and the coffee paired perfectly with our pastries. One thing to note is that they only accept card payments, so be sure to plan accordingly. Danish Mill Bakery is a must-visit when in Solvang, and I can't recommend it enough. It was the perfect way to wrap up our trip!

Yelp
Came in for espresso... got that... along with a bucket of cookies and jalapeño cheese bread! Beware, once you enter, it nearly impossible to leave without wanting to just buy and try everything from the bakery. This Sunday morning we came in just before 10am and the line was already pretty stacked. No worries though, the crew at Danish Mill had it moving pretty quickly. They're very friendly and also very efficient. There's a seating area inside for those looking to dine in. We took our treats to go. Jalapeño cheese bread was absolutely amazing. Definitely making Danish Mills a must do whenever I'm in town. Looking forward to trying so much more.

Yelp
So is a danish just called a pastry in Denmark? This was really good! Great texture, soft, light, and flavorful!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Solvang and definitely my favorite when I was a kid. Their Princess Cake is my favorite. There are a handful of bakeries in Solvang and at the end of the day it all depends on preferences. I like different things from the different bakeries. They have a great selection of cookies, pastries, and cakes. You can eat it onsite with some coffee or take a box to go. They also sell buckets of butter cookies (which is also available by mail). The bakery is really cute and storybook like just like the rest of the town.
google avatar

Yelp
This place looks so good and smells so good. We got 2 danishes and 1 cinnamon roll. The danishes are very sweet and filled with artificial flavors. The cinnamon roll did not taste fresh. It was kind of stale all around.
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
Cute bakery and I was excited when I saw they had French macarons! I ordered three- the chocolate, vanilla, and lemon. Sadly they were all made really bad. They must have overbeat the egg whites because the cookie part tasted basically like a chalky merengue... And the cookie visually was really bumpy and had a peak on it, confirming it was overbeat and the flour was probably not sifted. Definitely steer clear of the French macarons. The rest of our pastries were okay. This place looks very cute but I wouldn't go back. I would try a different bakery next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
So we stumbled across this Danish bakery on our visit to Solvang and let me tell you that we were quite frankly, looking for an apple strudel, or I can't really remember the name of it quite frankly, but that's what we were looking for, and upon our arrival, we got there. Maybe a couple minutes before they closed and so we got a quick treat. We ended up getting a cheese and cherry dish, which was phenomenal certainly, so yummy, so fresh. Definitely can get more of those, and we also opted for like little fudge bites. We weren't too impressed with those. But nonetheless, cute little shop, a lot of decor, very interactive, so it's definitely a good spot for family and friends to visit while you're in Solvang.

Yelp
There is always a line here I swear. So that makes you want to try their pastries to see why people wait so long to purchase them. I liked the danishes here, probably the best in solvang which by the way is known for their bakeries. There are quite many all over town. So the danish here was fresh and delicious. I also got a custard puff which was toooo sweet for me. The dry cookies also taste amazing and they have some prepacked in cute bags. Great for gift giving specially during Christmas. Customer service is ok, but could be better. I guess it gets too busy and tiring to deal with so many people from all over the world.

Yelp
Ordered a cinnamon danish and ate it outside in the sunshine in downtown Solvang. Staff was super friendly! The pastry was sooo yummy perfect and sweet. Highly recommend

Yelp
If you like a place to sit and sip cappuccino and pastry this is your place, but not all pastries are sweet. This place didn't satisfy my desire of eating a chocolate filled danish. Instead I ordered "Eclair" and "Custard Puff" which the puff was fulfilling and the other had no flavor. Service is quick and very nice. Next time I will definitely stick to my original plan and order a chocolate danish.

Armando T.

Yelp
Good clean place. You can't go wrong by coming to this place. The pastries were wonderful and reasonably priced. One place was double the price and the other was a little more but gave smaller portions. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Items looked good under glass but were stale and terrible when eaten. Very disappointing. Tried a bear claw, apricot danish and apricot thumbprint cookie. All terrible.

Yelp
Danish Mill Bakery is such a gem! I had something similar to an almond croissant, and it was absolutely delicious--flaky, buttery, and perfectly sweet. The service was wonderful; the staff was so kind, and they didn't even accept tips when I paid! Beyond the great pastries, it's also a nice spot to get some work done, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Compared to other bakeries, I had this place had more interesting pastries. I tried the princess cake and loved it. It is covered with a thin layer of Marzipan and it wasn't too sweet. The other one was a desert that seemed like marshmallow filling. Overall I enjoyed the pastries and my time here. There is fake flower pots hanging from the ceiling. Makes the place very cozy

Yelp
The danish and owl eyes were the best so fresh and tasty. The danish butter cookies were ok a little over hyped for me. Cute decor and tons of pastry & chocolate selections! Service was fast. And we they participate in the Solvang pass for a discount.
google avatar

Yelp
Woah this custard puff is amazing! The custard isn't too sweet and the bread is perfectly fluffy! These babies were huge! Very delicious! Will definitely come back for these when in Solvang again!

Yelp
We stopped here based on video reviews we saw and the bakery was very cute inside, but pastries were just OK. Or maybe that's just how Danish baked goods taste to me and I'm just not a huge fan of them? I do think that when you order, it would be nice if they would be warmed up for a fresher taste. Staff is friendly overall and if you dine in, there is a back area to sit. We ordered the apple strudel, lemon danish, cream cheese guava danish. Although all the pastries look flakey on the outside, when you take a bite in, you don't get that desirable crisp and make a little flakey pile on the floor, but it insteads sits flat. Of the three we liked the cream cheese guava best. Lemon was oddly too sweet than tart and the apple tasted from the day before set.

Yelp
Fantastic pastries. Wonderful marzipan flavors. Just like my MorMor used to make! However it's a little pricy.

Yelp
You have to have a Danish pastry when in Solvang! I only went into two of the bakeries, so I don't have a lot to compare against, and I'd already had a breakfast Danish at another bakery, but bought the Guava cream cheese Danish here to take with me to have the following day. It was obviously not going to be as fresh the next day, but I do love guava, and cream cheese, so the pastry still made me happy. I could only wish to have even more of the filling on the Danish. We were feeling like we had purchased enough sweet things over our two days in Solvang, but later regretted that we didn't buy a tin of butter cookies, try one of the French waffles, and splurged on our diets and just bought a few more things to try. When in Solvang, you should have the full experience! This bakery had a nice selection. The Bakery was very central in the middle of town on Copenhagen Street. It had cute, animated characters/bakers in the window, and another inside that sometimes spoke, I believe about the bakery's history, but I was hearing it on my way out. I would happily revisit the Danish Mill Bakery.

Yelp
Very nice place great decorations, I loved Marzipan Cooky it was very soft and tasty. Coffee is ok. Cheese bread could be better.

Yelp
With a plethora of bakeries in Solvang, it's impossible to just pick one. But we did..and I think we made a great choice. Huge selection of baked items and breads..wanted to get everything but instead I chose the solvang cheese cake which was to die for. Perfect amount of fluffiness and cream. I would get that again and again.

Yelp
Stopped by Solvang. Cute Scandinavian town. Tried the German chocolate cake at the Danish Mill Bakery- very good.
google avatar

Mitch L.

Yelp
After trying several different bakeries in Solvang, Danish Mill clearly stood out as our favorite. Their pastries have a richness and fluffiness that the others just couldn't match. What impressed me most was the attention to detail in their flavors. Their custard has a hint of citrus that elevates it beyond the standard. The Danish Waffle hit that perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior, with sweet cream and raspberry that made it memorable. Don't miss their Kringle... each bite gives you a different experience as you taste the fruit, cheese, and almond elements. Their owl eyes cookies and chocolate-dipped clamshells are standouts too - soft with centers that literally melt in your mouth. While service can be busy at times, the quality of their baked goods makes it absolutely worth it. If you're in Solvang and want a great Danish pastry experience, this is the place to go.

Yelp
This bakery has many locations around Solvang. This particular location was busy and they had a bigger selection. They had a great selection of baked goods and I wish I could've tried more but I was so full from breakfast. I saw this unique looking cake and I had to try it. The Princess Cake was absolutely delicious! The marzipan top was tasty and the mousse was light and creamy. The cake itself was not too sweet. The bottom had a nice strawberry filling. I really enjoyed it! The service was okay. Other than that, I recommend going here for some dessert or some danishes.
google avatar

Catherine N.

Yelp
Grabbed a quick cheese danish here and ever since then the only thing I've been thinking about are danishes. It was so good, freshly baked and nice and flakey. Plus the animated chefs baking in the front is so cute and iconic in Solvang! ig: @cravingswithcat

Jubell T.

Yelp
Such a cute bakery!! I really like their decorations by the window. I feel like I've been transported to Europe. The structure of the cafe is really nice and very much for the gram. As for the pastries. I had their cherry and cheese danish, as well as their chocolate croissant. Cherry and Cheese Danish: It was quite big, and it has a lot of fillings. The ingredients were very fresh and every bite has a nice chew to it. Chocolate Croissant: Like the danish, it was also big. It was flaky and airy which is what I look for in a croissant. The sweetness level was just right and not overpowering. I highly recommend this place for sure if you're gonna come visit Solvang. You definitely will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Nolita N.

Yelp
A visit to Solvang just isn't done without visiting one of their many bakeries and indulging on pastries. We randomly wandered into this shop which was pretty busy, so you know I just had to try it out. There were so many options to choose from that I low key got overwhelmed, but here are the things I randomly selected: Napoleon's hat: not too sweet. I honestly probably wouldn't order this one again just because it was ok. Bar cookie raspberry: I had a bite of this and it was pretty good. Not overly sweet, nor was the raspberry that fake sweet flavoring, so that was a huge plus. Cream cheese guava danish: I thought this was really good, I know this is probably blasphemous, but I should've folded this in half so that I could get both he cream cheese and guava in each bite. Cream cheese lemon danish: Similarly to the above, it was really good! The lemon flavor was perfectly tart French waffle: crumbly, flaky, yummy Classic flodeboller: the way the lady described this to me was that it was like a marshmallow and she wasn't wrong. If you're into that, then you'd love this. For me it was good enough. Overall, 5 stars because everything was good and I'd go back because I want to try more. The staff is helpful and patient which is nice especially because I know it gets hectic. There are also some seating available inside the restaurant if you want to enjoy your goodies right then and there.

Yelp
The best almond horn in town. We tried 6 different places (I think we missed esko). They were all good, but this was our personal favorite. A local we talked to also said this was her favorite, though she doesn't go anymore because they don't accept cash now. This almond horn was the most unique in shape (more like a horse shoe than a small crescent), which I think lends to its perfect 1:1 ratio of crunchy outside and doughy inside. Some places were mostly crunch, some were mostly doughy, but this was just right for us. Because of it's larger shape, I think you also get more almond slivers on the outside, which adds an extra crisp to the exterior crunch. The dark chocolate was also the most flavorful to us, though another place used a milk chocolate that I felt was well suited to the horn as well. These also hold up well after two days, probably more but... well, we're out of horns! When we come back, we will try more of what this bakery has to offer.

Winny H.

Yelp
First time coming here. Got their Princess cake and it was tasty and flavorful. It was white cake with raspberry filling and cream and wrapped in marzipan frosting. Very airy and light tasting although heavy on the marzipan flavor. Cost was $6.95. Small indoor seating available.
google avatar

Shailee M.

Yelp
Overhyped place! We took couple of danish & pastries. Pistachios pastry was super hard & hardly had any flavor. Danish flavors were reasonable. Service- servers were rude. You have to ask for cutlery. There is no counter to pick it up yourself. They dont clean the table for you. +Point 1. Variety of options to chose from -Point 1. No calorie count for the items 2. Service is OK.
google avatar

Janine C.

Yelp
Adorable little danish gem. The animated bakers out front are a real show stopper for kids and adults alike. The line goes fast and the tables in back make a nice respite from the crowds.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Nice little bakery, but now that we've tried several other bakeries in Santa Barbara, I would rank their pastries as good, but not as flaky and flavorful as some others.
google avatar

Salena C.

Yelp
Of all the bakeries we tried in our last 2 visits this bakery had the best danishes and coffee. This last week I also tried this massive cream puff and it was delicious! Super light, creamy and flaky. Buy the cookie buckets! They're worth it. They also have treats made in house for your dog which was a plus!
google avatar

Shannon Y.

Yelp
Great place to grab a quick pastry, coffee or breakfast sandwich in the morning while exploring Solvang. They have a great selection of fruit and cheese Danish combos. I have never seen them together in one pastry. The Danish Mill has "THE" book with the Aebleskiver recipe from hundreds of years ago enshrined in glass near the back of the restaurant. So, because of that you know this place is good. Besides the pastries and bread, they also have a large selection of chocolates for sale and tubs of take & bake sugar cookies for souvenirs. Please note Aebleskiver will not be made before 11am. Sad face! Enjoy!!!
google avatar

Danielle V.

Yelp
Service and coffee were great. Pastries left a bit to be desired. I thought they would warm them up a bit but they were a bit cold and hard. Still flavorful. My husband got a ham and cheese croissant and that was so delicious. Great ambience and friendly staff!
google avatar

Kathleen N.

Yelp
I don't understand the hype here to be honest. My friends and I tried two stores, and we were told Danish Mill Bakery is the best bakery in Solvang. Well, I was thoroughly disappointed. I had ordered the cream cheese, raspberry Danish, and a custard cream puff. I don't feel the pastries were flaky the way I was expecting, and in fact, the pastries were flat and stale in a way. The cream was too sweet, so it didn't balance the flavors for me. I am quite a snob when it comes to pastries/baked goods, and this unfortunately did not hit the spot. Customer service was mediocre. Unfortunately, I can't see myself coming back if I am ever in the area again.
google avatar

Alicia R.

Yelp
The BEST danish cookies and pastries in town my #1 recommendation is the French Waffle. The staff is so nice and patient considering how many people visit this location. Don't let the "stars" fool you I have tried all the local danish bakeries in Solving and this one is by far the best.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
We really enjoyed stopping into Danish Mill Bakery for a quick bite on our way out of Solvang. The staff was friendly, the danishes were good, and it was a little more kid friendly than some of the other places we visited. If you like coffee, make sure you get some here! We had iced lattes and it was some of the best coffee I've had in a long while.
google avatar

Scot M.

Yelp
Loved this place. Very cute. Decorations and lots of choices. Did the French waffle, macaroons, and a sugary crispy treat. This place got packed but the line moved quickly. You should do it.
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Very cute place with a great selection. The Solvang vibe is alive and well here which makes it a very fun stop.
google avatar

Neil V.

Yelp
This is one of many bakeries in Solvang! I went here because I saw it come up on TikTok a lot haha. You walk in and see the massive assortment of goodies on your left; I was overwhelmed and ended up getting a chocolate croissant. I may have chosen the wrong thing because it was underwhelming and wasn't as flaky and warm as I would have liked. Tip: if you decide to eat your goodies inside they serve it on plates with cutlery! That service was great!
google avatar

Peyton H.

Yelp
The ambience is so cute and the service is wonderful! I really enjoyed the pastries as well.
google avatar

Till W.

Yelp
From French macaron, coconut macaroons, and other pastries that we got, everything tasted delicious and freshly baked. I enjoyed seeing the animatronics in the front. I think it may scare some toddlers, but as grown-ups, we appreciate seeing something different like this. The service was patient as patrons tried to get everything they wanted in line. There were several tables inside to enjoy your pastry there.
google avatar

Katrina M.

Yelp
Pros: location. super clean inside. Cons: The coffee was terrible. Really really bad. We ordered the same iced mocha and they're different, equally horrible. Watery and you can't feel the grounds. The quality of the butter cookie wasn't great. My sisters and I ordered to go so our stuff that we didn't finish would already be packaged to go and walk the rest of the street. This bakery has a seating area, that was completely empty. We asked if we could sit there and she said "well you said to go, atleast she did" and looked at me. Such a poorly way to handle paying customers. So we are eating our $44 worth of pastries outside on a bench in the wind. Honestly incredibly annoyed that I added a tip to my purchases before we had asked if we could eat in their seated area that was empty.
google avatar

Chelsea B.

Yelp
This bakery is so cozy! I loved everything I ordered. Got the danish, cookie, and French waffle. Best French waffle I ever had! They have good amount of tables inside. You're sitting close to the table next to you sharing a bench. The line was long but workers were fast. I would definitely come here again. I really like the animatronics in the display.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
They had a line but moves pretty fast. I picked a variety of things and I was not disappointed. Everything was so good and fresh tasting. I can't describe the flavor other than delicious and melts in your mouth. I do wish I would have gotten more of their cookies. Next time I will
google avatar

Kalla R.

Yelp
Rude customer service. The older lady and young lady behind the counter could not be bothered. Take your business elsewhere, not worth the disrespect.

Angela T.

Yelp
My family and I visited Solvang and checked out this bakery before we left. We got a few different pastries and we asked for 4 kringle kages and was charged for the price of 4 when we only got 1 in our box. I'm not sure if the woman serving us had forgotten to put them in the box but she repeated my request of 4 kringles back to me. It was a shame because we did not realize it until we had gotten back home. The other pastries we got didn't exactly stand out to us either. Service was also 3/5, but it may have been because of the crowds. I would not come back here if I visited Solvang again.
google avatar

Kezia S.

Yelp
Ok actually the desserts we ordered was fine, my biggest problem with them is that I feel deceived Solvang is known for have Æbleskivers, so we definitely went into the day looking for them. Around late afternoon time we came by here and saw that they had so many signs advertising Æbleskivers that we excitedly came in and waited in the super long line that went way out the door. But then after the really long wait, when we're at the front of the line we learned that there aren't any Æbleskivers and we have no idea how long they were out of them because they literally aren't announcing it or anything. We ordered some desserts anyways just because we waited in line for so long (which I'm sure was their intention). The other thing is that we waited in line for so long that when we heard they were out of Æbleskivers I immediately looked online to see if anywhere else sells them but by then most places were closing :( I really feel they should let people know when they're out of Æbleskivers because the truth is many wait in line for that specifically (I know this because on the way out some people in my party let some customers know that they were out and most of them actually seemed disappointed and quite a few did leave the line).
