While stopping overnight we tried Danny Mac. I called in my order from my hotel(they didn’t deliver that far). Shot over there and picked it up. They were very friendly. The cooler was full of different sodas I had never heard of! Had to try a few. Both were really good! Kids loved the pepperoni pizza! Layers upon layers of pepperoni goodness! My husband and I loved the burnt end pizza! The brisket was so juicy and flavorful. The bbq sauce was perfect! This will definitely be our go to spot when in the area!

Google
Bread sticks were amazing like everyone stated. Pizza was good (temperature varied), salad was fine nothing to get excited about. We went on a Friday night in July. Pizza took 45 minutes. They brought everything out at once. One pizza was room temperature, one was normal heat, and one was lava hot! Be ready to find your own seat and order at the front. All orders come in to go containers.

Google
The reviews were spot on! The crack bread is absolutely delicious! Words can’t describe how amazing it is! We had a 12” pepperoni pizza with 1/2 pepperoni under the cheese and 1/2 smaller pepperoni on top - also really good! The staff was super helpful and friendly! The sweet tea was legit and I was excited to see that they served fountain Mr. Pibb! Highly recommend! We had extra pizza and ate it the next day- just as good! Too bad there’s no delivery to San Marcos, Texas ❤️

Google
The best breadsticks ever! There is a reason they're called Crack sticks. All I could think was Wow when I took my first bite! The cloud-like pillowy texture of amazing bread with a crisp crust along with a pool of melted garlic butter at the bottom. Mmm mmmmmmm The pizza is equally amazing. Perfect amount of cheese and sauce and I love the optional parmesan and red pepper flakes. If you're just traveling through Louisville or if you're a local - Danny Mac's is a place you'll want to add to your pizza 🍕 rotation! I'm so glad that we have this gem of a pizza parlour near my home!

Google
My family really enjoys getting pizza at Danny Mac's. It's way better than pizza from a chain. The ingredients are fresh and plentiful. There are tons of evenly distributed toppings on every slice. The works pizza is the best. Even if you're not in the mood for pizza, they offer pasta, salads, and sandwiches - all are great and tons of toppings. The restaurant is small, but there is outdoor seating available and they have a couple of arcade games and tvs inside. This last visit they were really crowded, but I don't think that is the norm. They are in a at center with lots of art galleries and an antique mall. Check it out if you'd in the area, you won't be disappointed.

It was my first time at Danny Mac’s. We had the crack sticks and the Meats Pizza. Delish! The pizza is a top runner for my favorite pizza!

Google
100/10. Im blown away. A nearby business brought me to the area, it required me to wait on my kiddo so I popped in for a bite. The pepperoni pizza with hot honey is incredible! Their breadsticks are similar to Little Caesars but 10 TIMES better. I can’t believe I’m just discovering this place. Do yourself a service and stop by! It won’t disappoint.

Google
i absolutely love this place. best pizza in Louisville and best people in Louisville. I was having the worst week ever and left a note to “make with extra love” and Danny and everyone gave me ice cream and everyone made me feel so loved and wished me a better week. Before absolutely bawling in the lobby, i dashed out the door to ugly cry in my car like a real woman. Danny Mac’s, you have the best atmosphere, service, and deserve 100 stars. even a little ice cream and pizza has impacted me greatly.

Yelp
We decided to try this place today. For the kids, we ordered a cheese pizza. As an appetizer, we had breadsticks and a meatball sub. When you walk in, you place your order at the counter and take a number; they'll bring your order to your table. It seems they always pack everything to go, even though there's plenty of room to eat there. The breadsticks were delicious, with plenty of butter, garlic, and cheese. My toddler couldn't stop eating them--they really are addictive! The cheese pizza was well-cooked, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce; it's hard to explain, but it just didn't work for me. The meatball sub, priced at $11, featured small meatballs. I think it would have been much better if they cooked some larger meatballs, sliced them, and added mozzarella for an amazing sandwich. However, the bread they used for the sub was very good. The staff was very helpful, especially an elderly woman whose name I forgot. She brought us refills and made sure we were doing well. I would definitely come back for the pizza and would like to try the calzone next time.

Yelp
Had to get my godson his spaghetti and meatballs- it comes with two garlic breadsticks and he got his drink. He's tiny and eats like a bird but he loved this! I've been previously and on that the pizzas are fire so if you're interested in going do so- it's in the mellwood arts building- so cool and you'll have to get around there and see for yourself. Service was fast and friendly his order was ready as we arrived!

Yelp
As a pizza lover, I have been wanting to try Danny Mac's for a while. I have heard so many good things. Luckily, it lived up to the hype. The space is sort of old school and you order at the counter. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. The tea was freshly brewed and the food was delicious. I know why the breadsticks are called crack sticks! I can't wait to go back and try a calzone. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I wanted something delicious and easy for my birthday dinner with my family this year. So I thought of my favorite pizza in Louisville, Danny Mac's! And for the first time, we sat in the courtyard just outside its main doors at Mellwood Art Center. On a warm fall night, this was delightful. The kids had enough room to run around a bit, having fun looking at the big art pieces that surround the space, while we could sit, drink beer and eat pizza. The Cracksticks continue to be my absolute favorite. Even if it's just my small family eating dinner from Danny Mac's, these are a carb-filled, dripping-in-garlic must. And we got a basic pepperoni pizza, though the Hawaiian, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Meats pizzas are also delightful. From the crust to the toppings, everything is consistently perfect. Danny Mac's also has decent beer on tap, or you can get a bottle of Ale-8. A true Louisville food staple. So thankful for it.

Yelp
I would fist fight a bear for their pizza. Yes really. I got one of their specials, something with bbq and burnt ends, and now I'm a fan. They put their whole heart into this pizza. It was tasty, greasy, and hefty. Overall I felt like a pos after eating it because there's no way something so amazing could be a smidge good for you. It isn't, but I don't mind. This is a hefty fully loaded type of pizza, and I day dream about it. The only reason I haven't been back is because I havnt eaten pizza in the past month or so. I will be back, I vow it. Enough of the dramatics, go try their pizza. It's good but pricey. Worth it.

Yelp
Stopped in here with several friends while visiting the Mellwood Art Center for VegFest in June and ordered a buffalo chicken calzone. Tasty and toasty and took over 1/2 of it home because it was enormous. The restaurant has several large screen TVs able to be seen in two separate dining room areas. Great place to view a sporting event. Tables are ample and plenty of seating. Air conditioning felt great today during the heat wave. I tried a bottled orange soda made with pure cane sugar and it was a refreshing and delicious rare treat. Service is fast with counter ordering and payment, then take a number to place on the table, and food is brought out fairly fast. Staff were all very nice and polite.

Yelp
Here's the thing about Danny Mac's -- it's good, and its price point is pretty low, low enough that Danny Mac can compete with the cheapo chains. No one would call it artisinal, but the ingredients aren't crappy either, and the bake is good. It's been a number of years since Danny Mac's graduated from outsider-underground status to local institution. The fact that it has remained an anchor business at Mellwood for as long as it has also speaks to the fact that it must be well-run. The bottom line is simple. Danny Mac has loaded down a lot of people with a lot of grease and cheese for quite a long time, and the product is a nice one. I'm probably past the age where I should ever think about ordering the crack sticks, even to share with others. But I love Danny Mac's in its current spot. Do yourself a favor. Treat yourself to a couple slices, and grab an excellent beer across the path at Butchertown Brewing. Sit outside on the patio where, blissfully, there is no car traffic. And pat yourself on the back that it didn't cost you much even if you tip well.

Yelp
This was absolutely the best pizza we have ever had. We were in the area for the Kentucky Derby with a large group and ended up going back to Danny Mac's two days in a row for their burnt end pizza! Wow! 5 stars!

Yelp
Pizza is classic! Great crust! Stays hot! Service is good. Love the area where it is located.

Yelp
This gem at the Mellwood is now a family favorite. We ate here after viewing my cousins wedding venue. The staff treated us warmly and put up with our overwhelming bunch (my twin toddler cousins running around, their big brother chasing them, and all of the adults in our group talking many decibels too loud). Everyone loved the food (the cheese bread is huge and mouthwatering) and the pricing was very fair. I wish we had a location closer to home so I can get it more often, but will not hesitate to swing by if I'm ever in the area.
google avatar

Dale E.

Yelp
I don't give 5 stars normally.. I wait a few visits before I decide to give a good review. We've ordered several Pizza's for Work parties and today I was able to pick the order up. The Staff is TERRIFIC. Friendly, helpful, gave us perfect.. yes perfect service. This place will be on our "go to" list for regular outings with family and friends. I'm not a "fan" of many businesses but this is a small business I am a fan of. And the pizza is great.. service was just "icing on the cake".
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza is very good and the Garlic sticks are addictive, I guess that's why they call them crack sticks. They have a nice selection of sodas and beer. You order at the counter and seat yourself. The service is friendly and outgoing. It is off the beaten path at the Mellwood. I would love to see them remodel the customer area to make a larger dining area, possibly with windows. Until then go with a small group or get carry out.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza and definitely the best breadsticks we've ever had. Stopping through from Ohio and so glad we stopped here. Had a great time listening to a dozen old time pickers playing while we ate. Will definitely be back
google avatar

Tony G.

Yelp
Great service. Pizza was a little bit pricey, but every bite was well worth. The prices of the old menu pictures are outdated. I will definitely come back for more. The bartender gave me a 5 diamond caliber treatment. Thank you. The restroom super clean. Ambiance was acceptable

Yelp
Danny Mac's was recommend to us by my tattoo artist for a quick bite in between stenciling and starting the tattoo. It was conveniently just downstairs from his studio in the courtyard and had recently been voted best pizza in town. The man ringing us up had a great accent and sense of humor and our food came out fairly quick since they weren't too busy. We enjoyed our lunch on the patio and even had leftovers to snack on the rest of the appointment. I ordered a build your own pizza with sausage and my friend had a sandwich and salad. We also tried their garlic bread, which came in a huge portion! Bonus points for having one of my fave ginger beers to wash it down with. I didn't try other pizza this trip to know if it's the *best* in town, but it certainly didn't disappoint. Great spot to break for snacks while exploring the many shops at Mellwood.
google avatar

Yelp
The Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza is the best pizza I've had in a while. The description is accurate as far as having some spice but not being too hot. The pickles were a unique touch but the amount of cheese and crust were perfect for both taste and texture. I'm sorry I waited this long to try this pizza after I saw it on the menu.
google avatar

Roger K.

Yelp
This is a cool little pizza place. The pizza is right up there if not the best around. The breadsticks are the bomb. I could eat those everyday. It's a must try.
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
I went to Danny Mac's for first time last week. Order at counter and then sit down. We got the crack sticks. Amazing but too much food considering we got the burnt ends pizza. That is the best pizza!
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
Crack sticks!!!! Do not miss these delish, garlic buttery, Parmesan cheesey goodness. This is an awesome spot on a nice evening to grab a spot outside and order up an amazing pizza and some sticks! They also have nightly drink specials and I've never gotten a drink I didn't like! Don't miss the tequila sunrise if that happens to be an option. You certainly won't regret it!

Yelp
Great tasting pizza, five star service, great dive/nice atmospher. Had a hard time with the on-line ordering but a phone call took care of that.
google avatar

King L.

Yelp
Ordered over the phone for pick up. Phone answered quick but not too quick to be suspicious. When I got there they let me know my two pizzas had a few more minutes. Gave me plates cheese and pepper which is always appreciated. The pizza tasted great but the garlic bread was amazing
google avatar

Yelp
I had the pleasure of Tryon Danny Max pizza while I was in the area last week. The food was really tasty. I must say I enjoyed the pizza and it was really good. The service was also top notch. The bartender give me my pizza and drinks and in ample time so it was solid. And the ambience was also pretty cool as well. It had sports posters, and TVs and things for me to watch while I enjoy my pizza

Yelp
Extremely late with my review, but we came here for Louisville pizza week! While I extremely fumbled the whole week using the app, I am so happy it brought us to this place. My husband and I came here in the middle of a weekday, and it was nice to see some kids from a nearby school stopping by here after a field trip. It seemed like a really cool local place to catch a bite and hang out. Out of all the places we stopped at for pizza week, this one I thought stood out. It was certainly a strong way to start it out, and my husband and I really enjoyed the pizza! Overall, we had a great experience. The food was great, the ambiance was cool, and the service was prompt and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place, and we'd love to come back!

Kathy B.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Always delivered on time. Ingredients are fresh. I highly recommend this pizza.

Yelp
I was staying at a hotel in Louisville and decided to eat in with our friends. We found Danny Mac's and ordered online. The food was delivered promptly. Everything was hot and delicious. The Hot Brown pizza was amazing! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Love my Yelp recommendations. We were not lead astray! Worth the short drive from downtown. Great food and very reasonable prices.

Yelp
Had a great visit at Danny Mac's off Melwood! The pizza was great! Nothing was left over! We also ordered the "Crack Sticks", they were fantastic! They were covered in melted butter! The place was a bit hard to locate at first, but that's part of the fun! Danny Macs is attached to a much larger building with many tiny businesses inside. I couldnt believe this hidden gem. The pizza was old school, just the way I like it. Cheesy, saucy, perfectly cooked dough with a great texture. The cheese sticks or crack sticks were more of the same, cheesy, sloppy, messy and just plain good! You order, they bring it out!
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
We get this pizza at work once every couple of weeks. The spicy Italian sausage is the best! It's hard to find a sausage pizza that has actual sausage that tastes and looks like sausage, this is delicious. Best pizza in Louisville.
google avatar

Claude S.

Yelp
Best damn in the city! Brisket pizza is the best! I truly love this place. The location is low key for great relaxation & conversations. The workers have the best attitudes and puts you at ease. Thank you Danny Mac's!
google avatar

Allie M.

Yelp
Danny Mac's was incredible. We ordered online, and the timing was perfect. We were going downstairs to meet our delivery driver when Danny Mac personally called to say that he thought the wrong pizza was added to our delivery - a chicken bacon ranch pizza. He told me he already had a member from his kitchen staff on the way with the pizza we originally ordered - the combo pizza. He was right that the wrong pizza was put in our order, but we honestly loved that one more than the combo, although both were incredible. The kitchen staff member also brought us a chocolate fudge cream cheese dessert that was also incredibly delicious. Would order from here every chance I got if I lived in Louisville! Again, incredible food and over-the-top incredible service.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Blandly Mac's the specialty pizza and specialty calzones were bland. Also I know my calzones and sorry but the calzone does not deserve to be called a calzone
google avatar

Benny H.

Yelp
Nice folks and good pizza in a cool area. You order and pay up front, so keep that in mind. Casual atmosphere - overall a w. *The breadsticks were great!

Tina A.

Yelp
The pizza takes the top prize as best in Louisville! It's obvious as soon as you take a bite. You can taste the difference. They use the best quality ingredients and they give you plenty of it! My favorite go to is the "Combo" pizza! So good, I can't say enough!
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
Four words: Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza. Will never order anything else!!!! They also have AMAZING bread sticks. Hoping to be able to eat in their beautiful outdoor patio soon

Yelp
First time visiting the actual location of Danny Macs, I first had them during pizza week at Tim Tam Tavern back in 2019. And of course it was delicious. I am however glad I went and visited the original location in Mellwood center. It wasn't very busy so ordering was a breeze. I got a 12 inch Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. I went to their bathroom and it was very clean and on the way back I checked out some of their wall signs. Pizza Lover lane was my favorite but I thought they were all awesome. Wait time wasn't very long about 10-15 minutes. Pizza was hot and fresh. I waited a few minutes before taking a bite. It was just as good as it is at Tim Tam Tavern. There was way more sausage then pepp on the pizza. I will definitely get this again whether it's here or at Tim Tam. Good job guys pizza was Delish.

Alison M.

Yelp
Love Danny Mac's !! Fast, fabulous, great crust and the bread ticks are holy hell addictive!

Josh G.

Yelp
Decided to check out Danny Mac's Pizza with my 9 yr old. The guy that took my order was kind and patient while I bumbled around trying to figure out what to order. He suggested a Hawaiian, we tried it. I thought it was really good, the ham is sliced fresh in the back, the pineapple was good, we decided to add bacon, really good. My 9 yr old didn't quite agree and just wanted a cheese pizza. I went back to the counter and asked for a small cheese. The gentleman asked if my kid didn't like it, I nodded and told him that she wasn't being very adventurous today. I assured him that I liked it. He held up a finger for me to hold on a second, retreated to the back kitchen and retired saying that they would have a small cheese pizza right out, no charge. Moments later someone else came out with the cheese pizza and a small stuffed animal. These guys are first class! They just want us to have a nice lunch together. Pizza was really good. Staff was really nice. There's a pinball machine and some claw machines so bring some change. Thanks guys!

Rick M.

Yelp
We have lived in Louisville for 13 years now. This is buy far the best pizza in town. We have tried places all over town. This will be are go to place...
google avatar

Clifton H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the outdoor dining. It was a comfortable, mildly breezy day. As for the "crack" breadsticks, the name totally fits. They were next level good!

Bernadette A.

Yelp
Half order sticks and personal pizza with veggies, chicken, and yes, pineapple. Was very good. Little disappointed by the crust as it was super thin but chewy? Toppings and taste on point and will definitely be trying the larger size to see how crust is. Breadsticks alone worth it.

Yelp
This holiday season taking place during the covid pandemic my family and I have made a tradition of every Saturday driving around different parts of town looking at Christmas lights and trying a new pizza place. Restrictions were lifted a bit so we was able to dine in at Danny Macs. The location is in the Mellwood center in almost a outlet mall like location. We parked and called and asked if they had indoor dining or just takeout. The owner stated you can place the order and we have tables you can sit at and dine after receiving food. It was a Friday night so after I ended the call the owner was nice enough to call back and let us know that it could be a 40-50 min wait. I advised we was already in parking lot and and he said he would "make it work for us". We walk in and placed our order. We got a cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, a pepperoni and ham calzone, crack sticks and a chef salad. There was a big table available inside and we were able to comfortably sit in a warm, spacious, and quiet area. The food arrived in about 15 min or so. We received great customer service here. Everyone from the owner to the register workers we're extremely nice, accommodating and good at what they do. The pizza's themselves are 12 inch pizzas. So probably about the size of a normal medium at most pizza establishments. I sampled both the cheese and pepperoni. Very tasty. Very nice tasting sauce and crust. The pepperoni had a nice kick to it without being too spicy. So A good blend. The break sticks aka crack sticks lived up to its name. Very very good breadsticks. maybe the best I've had in the whole city. The ham and pepperoni calzone was solid. I'm not a big pepperoni guy and I was splitting with my daughter so she chose pepperoni and I chose ham. All ingredients in it had good flavor and the sauce was tasty. A lot of places have giant calzones so this one seemed on the small side. But it did the trick for what we wanted to have. Pricing wasn't bad. My family of 6 got two pizzas, an app, a side entree and a large salad and Dined for around $70. So can't complain when you have a lot of food and it's only around $10 a person. We really enjoyed our visit here and will be back. It was during a pandemic and cold outside. There was a bunch of cool outdoor seating and I imagine during warmer or spring time weather this place is really cool to dine on the patio. So my kids are looking forward to that. Cool and tasty place. I would highly recommend it.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Breadsticks are AMAZING! So much butter to dip them in. A must get before the main course! The pizza was really good too. My husband got beef and pepperoni and I got the 7' combo.
google avatar

Yelp
I have heard so many great things about this restaurant, I knew I had to try it. It had been on my list to try for months. The location is in the courtyard of Mellwood Arts Center. On a day out it's a cool spot to stop by and grab lunch. I called in my ordered for pickup and they said it would take 25 minutes. They were pretty busy. I ordered the bread "crack" sticks and half veggie/ half cheese pizza. My order was ready in 20 minutes. Once I saw the pizza I was pumped! They loaded up all the veggies on the half side of the pizza. They didn't skip out. The veggies included mushrooms, green peppers, onions, olives and tomatoes and it was so much. I can only imagine what a meat lovers pizza would look like. The breadsticks were also really good. I will be going back to try more items!
google avatar

Evelynn W.

Yelp
You have to get the brisket burnt ends pizza before it is discontinued! Delicious plus the cheese sticks are best in town. Be sure to add garlic butter and pizza dust to your order. The staff is down to earth and friendly. They accommodate even last minute orders. The mai tai is surprisingly well balanced! You can enjoy pizza on the patio.
google avatar

Lorie L.

Yelp
We decided to take our chances on Danny Mac's today, after learning we were only a mile away and our bellies were growling for lunch. Mellwood Arts Center has outdoor seating and we were able to snag a table in the breezeway protected from the sun. Danny Mac's has a QR code to scan and browse the menu. We opted for 2 pizzas, pepperoni and extra cheese. They're 12" pizzas and feed 2-3 adults. We also asked for sodas and water, and we were in awe of the high cups. (little things) I'd classify the pizza crust as hand tossed and the ends without cheese and sauce were my favorite. Decent sauce, not overly filled with toppings and filling. We also appreciated the service. For both our massive drinks and pizza, the server at Danny Mac's brought them outside to us. Re: safety for Covid, menus to scan from your phone, takeout/curbside offered, patio seating only, disposable cups/utensils/boxed pizza. Hand sanitizer was on their counter. We also brought our own for the patio and the only thing I wished I had was something to wipe off the table. I don't believe anyone was regularly sanitizing those. The breezeway was amazing, flies were crazy. Pro tip: offer them a bit of crust and they'll flock away! Some cool murals around for pictures. Bathrooms were open in Mellwood Arts Center.

Yelp
Papa john murderers! Get the all meat, it was smoky delicious! And the crust has the perfect chew to crunch ratio we all love, the sauce not too sweet just a little tang bit heavy on the Oregano but nice. Great job it's got to be my top 5 in the Ville Service.. * swift Price $$ reasonable for quality Atmosphere *** nice patio on a warm day and plenty of extra sight seeing things to do in the Mellwood studios
google avatar

Pablo R.

Yelp
In a city that is full of pizza options this is my go to for great pizza and bread sticks ... I mean those breadsticks are ! Worthy of 5 a emoji review lol. Solid pizza made right with plenty of toppings. You have the standard options but they load them up! Although not too many drink options. It's not a place I'd go to hang out with a group of friends since it doesn't have that hang out and have dinner with a drink vibe but a great place to pick up some pizza and take it home for the night.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
This was some of the best food! The staff was nice even on a nasty day. I got pizza and a salad and at the last minute a dessert. It was so flavorful and cozy comfort giving. I suggest that you go support this small business.

Yelp
As a self-proclaimed pizza aficionado who has explored countless pizzerias across Louisville, I can confidently say that Danny Mac's Pizza stands head and shoulders above the rest. Quality and Flavor: The pizza here is nothing short of a flavor explosion. The crust strikes the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, and the toppings are generous. Whether you're a classic pepperoni lover or an adventurous veggie enthusiast, Danny Mac's has you covered. Service with a Smile: The staff at Danny Mac's are great. Prompt, friendly, and efficient, they make every visit a delightful experience. Hidden Gem: Located within the historic Mellwood Art Center, Danny Mac's exudes charm. The industrial setting adds to the overall vibe, making it a great spot for a casual dinner or a pizza date night. Size Matters: Now, let's talk pizza size. The large pizza here is a 12-inch masterpiece. While some might find it undersized for the price, I appreciate the focus on quality over quantity. Each bite is a little slice of pizza paradise. In summary, if you're craving pizza perfection, look no further than Danny Mac's Pizza - Mellwood. It's not just a meal; it's an experience. P.S. Make sure to get their "Crack Sticks" which are their bread sticks. Best side item at a pizza joint ever!
