Open May through mid‑October, this lovingly tended two‑acre garden layers thousands of blooms, water features, and shaded paths. Often recommended by Visit Billings for a serene, thoroughly local stroll.

What an incredible experience! I was visiting from out of town and looking for something to do with my two girls. I felt so fortunate to stumble upon this place. The owner was incredibly welcoming and kind. The grounds were well kept and managed. I didn’t want to leave. I felt so relaxed and at peace here. Definitely one of the best things Billings has going for them. Highly recommend!

We recently traveled to Billings, MT as our last night in MT before flying home. We were unaware of the DanWalt Botanical Gardens, until we arrived at our Air BNB - which happened to be directly next door to our stay. We were able to tour the gardens before leaving the area, and what a wonderful experience. The gardens are truly a gem to the area, and the owner is terrific and went out of his way to make us feel welcome in the gardens, gave us insight into the area, and has obviously put a lot of love and passion into this property. THIS IS A MUST SEE!!

Loved the serenity, the variety of flowers & plants, & very friendly staff. The grounds are pristinely maintained & we were encouraged to wander even off the paths to see all the flowers.

If you are just going to walk through the gardens skip it. It is pretty but costs $10 a person and takes about 3 minutes to walk the entire property. There are no activities or special events. Just a nice garden and small koi pond.

What an absolute delight to have spent a couple of hours in such a relaxing place. This place is definitely a hidden gem; I think more people need to visit the garden. The chickens and their joyous personalities make the garden even more enjoyable. I was even given the opportunity to feed them, which was very reminiscent of my childhood. The garden offered a chance to be at peace and the chance to pause which I haven’t had done in a while. I spent some time talking to the owner and she was a gentle soul and was ready to discuss anything about the garden and we even discussed some of the complexities of life. I could have not imagined a better way to spend my morning today.

We had a mid-September wedding for 110 guests. Absolutely gorgeous venue. The garden speaks for itself. Bridal suite and groom's room on-site. Catering kitchen, tiki bar, ceremony garden, and reception hall. Tables & chairs included, and optional linen rental - It's all there! Clint and Suri did an amazing job to facilitate a seamless ceremony for us and were available the entire day for any questions or extra assistance. So pleased with our dreamy wedding experience. There are other events open to the public as well as $10 garden visits throughout the week. THE hidden gem of Billings, Montana. Photo credit to Ingram Smart Photography.

Beautiful gardens... we greatly enjoyed soaking up the ambience. Restful healing energy. We learned you can rent this place out for weddings... or for a celebration of life. When you arrive, there is a pay here box and a very helpful map. The gardens go way-back... be sure to continue through all the way to the little bridge and water feature. We will certainly return. I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
Such a hidden gem in Billings! Beautiful gardens and flowers - incredibly well maintained. I love bringing my son for a stroller walk. Would also be beautiful for a small wedding.

Yelp
Needed to waste time before my flight and somehow stumbled upon this gem. I was here for a good hour admiring all the flowers and garden structures ~ so beautiful ~. I met the owner and he was very nice and told me a little history and where to go on the property. They also do (small) weddings and they had three that weekend! Very cool place to visit on a sunny afternoon. The volunteer workers very nice and makes me want to volunteer somewhere local.

Yelp
Danwalt Gardens is a very lovely venue for small events. Situated on the south side of Billings in a residential area, it is like a small Eden in the midst of suburbia. The grounds are immaculately maintained and lushly planted. The indoor pavilion can seat about 125 people and houses a kitchen, restrooms and a tiki bar, garage doors open for additional outdoor seating. The only downside is that parking is very limited.

Yelp
Wonderful and fun experience! I found this place on trip advisor during our vacation. When we pulled up to the place, I have to admit, I was skeptical. It seemed like it was a garden in someone's back yard. Boy was I wrong. This place was very cool. A beautiful garden experience. We brought our three kids to this place and were concerned that maybe it was a bad idea but they loved it too. I think what made it extra special is that one of the owners was there during our visit working and was so kind to stop what she was doing to visit with us, get to know us, and took the time to tell us about the wonderful history about the gardens and a little about all the plant life we were viewing. It was beautiful. If I didn't have my kids with me I could have easily spent far more time here smelling all the flowers and just enjoying the moment. I highly recommend this wonderful place. There is a cost. It's $7.50 per adult and children under 12 were free. This was the only part I wasn't expecting, but was still totally worth it. If I ever come back through Billings I will come here again.

Yelp
I had an absolutely outstanding experience touring through the gardens here. Dan was an outstanding tour guide informing us not only of the history of the area, but his own personal family history. It was great to see his Japanese chickens, the beautiful edible plants, the other gorgeous plants and the wedding themed areas on the property that he and his partner Walt live and maintain with their tiny staff. They host an amazingly large number of weddings, and with the quality of food that we received for our lunch during our tour through the property I'm not surprised -- I would love to attend a wedding with such a beautiful property with hosts and staff who have such great attention to detail! Not only did our lunch include artichoke hearts from the garden, but they have never had to fertilize the property in all of the six years it has taken to get it to this beautiful state (previously there were vegetable gardens here along with the the old apple tree, but that is it when it comes to vegetation). I cannot recommend visiting the DanWalt Gardens nearly enough! They are absolutely gorgeous, and I'm certainly not one to rave about flower gardens usually.

Yelp
The property was beautiful and the owners were the sweetest. The wife, Suri (spelling?) was so sweet and took the time to give us a little tour and explain about the gardens. We were able to hold and feed their chickens! So cute and fun. Definitely worth the stop if you're in Billings!

Yelp
I highly recommend this hidden oasis! Beautiful flowers and grounds, I loved all the pathways and the fountains. So relaxing and peaceful! I had a sweet snuggle dog as an escort , and a friendly tiny rooster supervising my visit! The owners are so nice, they even helped me out of a jam! Seems like an awesome venue for any event, so special! Lovely small garden to visit anytime!

Yelp
Danwalt Gardens is absolutely beautiful and a perfect place for a wedding! Dan and Walt took care of us and really made our wedding the perfect for us. I'm so glad we had our wedding there.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular array of blooming flowers and beautiful landscaping! This is a must to visit while in town or even if you're a local. This peaceful and serene spot will definitely lift your spirits and feed your soul. It's hard to believe that Clint and Surry are able to maintain this large garden on their own but they do and they are the nicest people you will meet. This property can also be used for a wedding or celebration of life venue! I would highly recommend you check it out, you won't be disappointed. They had a vision and truly accomplished amazing dreams. The property also has a Koi pond and adorable small exotic chickens roaming the yard. Thank you both for taking time to make our visit so special.

Yelp
Cute little gardens. Owner came out and talked with me for a few minutes, so nice of him to take the time

Yelp
I am a florist and do a number of weddings and events at DanWalt Gardens every year. The owners are the best to work with and the gardens are nothing short of spectacular. The natural beauty found at this venue is on a level of class all it's own. A new addition that I was excited to see this year was the grape vineyard. I was on my way back to the store after dropping off a few wedding bouquets (the brides never need too much in flower décor because they are surrounded by gorgeous flower gardens everywhere you turn) and I was excited to see Walt and his little white pooch... working the ground with a rake in the new life size Zen Garden! Seriously, this place is amazing!
