"To say Daphne’s is an Italian restaurant would be selling the place short. Sure, this Bed-Stuy spot from the team behind Decades has a standardly delicious caesar salad and comforting beef cheek ragu. But they also serve food that's not so easily categorized: baked scallops topped with parmesan, pesto, and calabrian chili, a pasta with every type of mushroom under the sun, and beef tartare topped with a shoyu-cured egg yolk and lasagna sheets fried into chips. If these not-so-typical Italian dishes sound exciting, that’s because they are. When Daphne’s is good, it’s great. But our visits have been inconsistent. Sometimes the meal is so salty that we can’t imagine recommending this place, even as a when-you’re-in-the-neighborhood option. Other times we leave daydreaming about the grilled calamari salad with thinly shaved celery and olives we ate 20 minutes prior. photo credit: Mateo Ruiz Gonzalez photo credit: Mateo Ruiz Gonzalez photo credit: Mateo Ruiz Gonzalez The scene itself is incredibly consistent, though. Couples eat by candlelight in green leather booths, and the open kitchen and fun food keep things from feeling too stuffy. Your server will assure you the wine you’re drinking is natural, which is nice but ultimately won't matter once you’re three spritzes deep and doodling on the paper-covered tables with a pen someone dug out of the depths of their bag. Daphne's may be hard to rely on—and therefore not a good choice for anyone on a tight budget or traveling from outside of Bed-Stuy—but we're still semi smitten. If you live in the area and you’re down to find out what green tomato vodka sauce tastes like, then come here with a few friends who are into wine and take your chances. Daphne’s doesn't have to be just an interesting Italian-ish restaurant with a few flaws, it can be your interesting Italian-ish restaurant with a few flaws. Food Rundown Caesar Salad Your most basic caesar salad. We don't mean this in a bad way. Grilled Calamari Salad Reminiscent of an Italian seafood salad, hold all of the other seafood except calamari. (Plus castelvetrano olives, thin slivers of celery, and a tart yuzu kosho dressing.) This, and a Daphne’s spritz, is a great way to start your meal. Baked Scallops Tri-color scallops served on the half shell. Fun to look at, more fun to eat. Beef Tartare Using lasagna chips as a vehicle for steak tartare is frankly innovative, but once you get past that element, this is a pretty standard plate of raw beef. Unless you're here with a group, focus on other starters. Mussel Toast This was the biggest miss for us. Tender mussels get lost in a sea of coarse herbs and an overpowering ‘nduja vinaigrette. Salsify & Fiddleheads Eat this and you'll know what green tomato vodka sauce tastes like. It's pleasantly bitter but just a bit too savory. If the salt level was turned down a touch, and the sauce came over something neutral and absorbent like pasta—instead of root vegetables and ferns—this dish might be more balanced. Alas, writers can dream. The Pastas They change seasonally, but you can usually expect a ragu that provides bubble-bath levels of comfort, and is appropriately seasoned—when Daphne’s gets it right, they get it right. We've also tried a reginetti with razor clams that was too punchy, and a slightly undercooked mushroom pasta. Swordfish Milanese Everybody should stop sawing their way through pork milanese, and head to Daphne’s, where the side of a fork cuts through swordfish like butter. The pea purée under it leans salty, but it's mostly balanced out by the thick and crispy hunk of swordfish. Just don’t eat it plain." - Willa Moore

For nearly $6 extra to make it a meal, I expect far more French fries. This is unacceptable. This is less than a handful.

Friendly service! We were excited to visit a family favorite that is no longer located near us. We ordered the mix and match plates. The portion sizes were a bit disappointing for the price. The proteins were much smaller than previous visits and the pita bread and hummus portions have shrunk. What once used to be an affordable ($30), filling dinner for two now cost us $50 and we didn't get the soup or baklava. They were out of the lemon chicken soup and apparently it is often hard to get it, so I recommend calling ahead if it is something you want. Strangely, the two containers of the brewed tea was mistakenly brewed with the flavored option. We will probably visit again, but not purchase the platters again.

Google
The loaded fries are described as having both grilled chicken and gyro. I got charged an extra $5 for the gyro. I specially asked for my fries to be cooked well because I had to drive a ways before I could eat them. These are not well. These are gross, cold, mealy potatoes. Everything else is skimpy and disappointing. I guess it doesn't really matter since I won't eat the soggy potatoes. I hate spending $20 for lunch when I'm starving, only to throw it away.

This was the first time I've been to Daphnes. The restaurant was empty. We were not greeted. It was such an inconvenience for the female staff member with dark brown hair to help us and take our orders. She was in a bad mood and seemed super impatient. I should have walked out immediately but still stuck it out on trying the place. My grilled chicken and rice meal was decent. The taziki tasted like plain yogurt. The Hummus bowl was not good. It was suppose to include Tabouleh, but they failed to mention they were out of it. It was substituted with extra Greek salad which wasn't good. Even the hummus tasted gross. I will not be back.

The young lady is not welcoming. Not helpful at all. This was my first time, and I was craving a Gyro. I asked if they had it on the grill. She said they sold out and had some left in a pan. Sold out at 1150 in the morning? Nevertheless, I tried it from the pan. It wasn't very good. Kinda old tasting. If you have not tasted the sams club gyro kit. It's better than this place. I wish she was more helpful. I tried to get her to help me and to no avail.

Google
My experience was horrible and they have an A rating. The bathroom smelled like sewer, the meat was hard you can hardly cut it, the service was bad they seemed annoyed, the soup was cold. Just worst experience ever.

Google
I looooove this place! The food is delicious 😋 all the Daphnes by my house closed (3l I'm begging not to close this one please!! Font break my heart!!🙏💙🩵💚

Google
This was probably one of the worst Daphnes places i been to. The chicken was not kabob it was slices of dried burnt chicken. Gyro was thick chunks. Tzatziki was watery. Salad was old. Overall the food had a weird smell and was just terrible terrible. Lost my appetite. It's sad I grew up going to Daphnes all the time I was looking forward to enjoying a meal here but forsure ruined it. I don't think I would risk stepping into Daphnes location again. Honestly I tried other Mediterranean places better off there... soo sadd.

Yelp
Looking for a quick light Mediterranean bite that's just right? Well alright! If you don't want to get caught up in the food court across the street at Ontario mills then this is for you. I've been to other locations so I kinda knew what to expect. I ordered the mix and match hand carved gyro plate with a Greek side salad. So when I got my order it came with vegetables that tasted really bland kinda like the service. And yeah, I went there! The Gyro was good as usual and I did forget to mention the lemon soup. That was also good and that's about it. I did mention to them that they got my order wrong but they failed to even acknowledge it but what can I expect from teens. I'm guessing the manager was still sleeping at eleven in the morning. Anyways I'm still a fan of their Gyro so I'll be back if I'm ever shopping at Ontario again. And that's my take on it, Peace, I'm out.

Janet Q.

Yelp
Worst Greek restaurant ever. DEFINITELY worth making the drive elsewhere but this place and location is NOT it.

L B.

Yelp
This place has been on the decline for years, but it's gotten just plain disgusting over the last year. Today was the last time I will ever go here. I ordered the Classic Greek Salad with chicken and it was nasty. The lettuce was old and wilted, the chicken was so burned that I took it all off my salad. Tzatziki sauce was watery and soupy. Half the soft drink machine was "out of order". "Out of order" restrooms. It's sad to see it's gotten this bad. Don't waste your money here....way overpriced for junk Greek good.

Jeff J.

Yelp
Date night with my wife we came here. We split a steak & chicken plate with salad, side of veggied, hummus and pita bread. It was very over priced for what you get. The plate looked big enough to split but was a small portion when it came to the table. No feta hummus without fire flavor. Over all, Luna Grill in Eastvale is way better for the money. You get alot more and tastes better, if you're looking for Mediterranean food.

Yelp
Funny story on how I came to visit Daphne's... well, I was at R&B Tea getting my Vietnamese sandwiches & boba drinks and I wanted to check-in via Yelp. Somehow I clicked on Daphne's instead of R&B Tea. So I took a second glance and said what kind of foods does Daphne's sells. Surprise surprise... they sell Mediterranean foods. I love Mediterranean foods! So I headed over here to check them out since I already checked in LOL... Daphne's have very good space for dining. Quite a colorful joint. Lots of food options to choose from. I ended up getting the mix & match plate with 1 chicken kebab and 1 steak kebab... it also comes with roasted veggies, Spanish rice, some kind of yogurt called tzatzit, and pita bread. I was hoping to really like my plate. Unfortunately, the chicken was a tad dry IMHO... I don't eat steak so I can't comment on it. Rice was on the harder side... needs more water. Veggies were good. Yogurt was light. Chunks of the meats and all the sides were on the smaller side... wished they were bigger in portions especially with the price paid at $23+. Staff was pleasant and friendly. Ambience was bright especially with the red and blue chairs. Will I be back? I really don't know. They are better than Zaky's Mediterranean so maybe I'll give them another try. At least now I know they exist and I can drop by when I'm in the area. Happy Daphne'ing!

Yelp
They will never get another dime from me. Came in around 5PM today and witnessed the young kid working behind the counter (wearing a black tee shirt and gold chains around his neck) laugh and make fun of a lady for telling him to have a good night. Yes, the sun was still out when she said it, but why disrespect a paying customer? She was just being polite. I ordered the classic pita with gyros. They gave me a classic pita with falafel. When I asked for the correct sandwich, the cook was visibly annoyed and had an attitude. How dare I ask for the thing I ordered. Maybe if he wasn't so busy trying to have a conversation with me, he would have actually listened and got it right the first time? Also, the first sandwich they gave me looked disgusting. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Never again!!

Yelp
I was in the area and decided to try this place. I almost didn't walk in because the restaurant appeared to be closed. I'm glad that I did approach the place. The cashier was very nice and helped me pick a dish. The place appeared to be clean but empty. The dish that picked didn't have a variety of items on it but the portion was a good size...and I'm not a big eater. It was delicious with some spicy yummy sauce. I've attached a pic and I'll be back if I'm ever in the area.

Angelica s.

Yelp
This place is the best!!! Definitely underrated!!!!! Make sure to try their lemon chicken soup on the side!! Bomb. Great service as well!!! Wish there were more of these restaurants around!!!

James C.

Yelp
Poor quality, under seasoned, cold vegetables. Everything was very dry and and pretty disappointing for a $20 plate of food.

Eloy G.

Yelp
Got some takeout here based on some recommendations from some of my employees and it turned out to be a good choice. I had the beef gyro and it was a good and tasty and overall ok. Only thing I would say that was a small negative was that it had tons of vegetables as compared to meat. But overall it had a good flavor profile and would certainly order here again. The other small negative was that they were out of the lemon chicken soup as well as well as other things. This was not a late order as it was placed at around 12:15pm. Overall ambiance was just your typical Greek place with good customer service.

Bluntly S.

Yelp
Having grown up with Daphne's, this place was a bit of a disappointment. The restaurant isn't the cleanest, the gyros aren't always carved fresh, it's just... Disappointing.

Dusti M.

Yelp
I have ordered from here through UberEats twice. The food is always amazing, but I have one serious bone to pick. They require you to make the order a combo when you order a pita through uber eats. The cost is $7, which is outrageous for fries and drink. Both times I have failed to receive my drink. When you charge customers that much for extras, they had best recieve those extras. On top of I didn't even want the soda and fries, you have to pick it to finish your order.

Regina L.

Yelp
The food is always good no matter what you order. The service at this location is mid. Not customer friendly, feels more like a busy drive through vibe, in person. I paid extra for x2 tzatziki sauce for a Togo order and when I got to my destination and opened my order, no sauce (they are expensive) and required for falafel I love this restaurant, just not this location.

Jamie B.

Yelp
Gyro was delicious! The pita was soft but had a nice grill to the outside. The cucumber salad that's inside it is good! It's pretty big, I only finished half. Over all a great meal and a great price. The girl that helped me was very nice. The place was clean. I'll definitely be back.

Vinnie B.

Yelp
I always loved Daphnes to bad their closing down. Now I have go to Luna grill which is OK but I'll miss the spanokopita. We miss you Daphnes in Temecula.

Chloe J.

Yelp
Amazing food, Mediocre service depending on who's there. Most things are fairly priced.

Vanessa P.

Yelp
No one ever answers the phone to place an order. The website is completely unusable if you can even find it. The wait for a to-go order can be outrageous. I went on 5/21/24 at lunch time and the restaurant was closed with a note on the door. I wouldn't go if I didn't like the food, management needs to realize they're losing customers this way.

Matt C.

Yelp
Food is ok. We ordered the mix and match plate with hand-carved gyro (good, not too salty), grilled chicken, and shawarma chicken. The female cashier seems like she doesn't want to work there. She shouldn't be in the front desk taking orders. The guy in the back that serves the food has a better attitude.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Okay so after reading some of the review I realized this "Tim O" is not the same Tim I knew backed when I worked there so I'm assuming someone hack into the company website and leaves nasty responses but no way a business owner or manager would allowed this.... But to "Tim O" grow up and stop making this company look as bad as it is. I was an actual employer at that location years ago and my post was meant to wake this company up and start changing it's structure because despite what I thought of the company they have a good potential of being a better one

Kris I.

Yelp
I've been here more than a couple times and got the loaded bowl which is usually decent. This time I tried something new, the vegetarian plate. It's supposed to have roasted veggies, dolmas, falafel, hummus, pita, and the main reason I wanted it in the first place: spanakopita. For whatever reason, I didn't get any spanakopita and wasn't told anything if they were out or something. I got barely a handful of cold veggies, plenty of hummus, some dolmas, and hard to eat falafel. All for a lovely $22. Needless to say, not worth your money or time.

Justin P.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed, I paid $28 for this and a small drink. The big piece of steak in the middle of the skewer wasn't edible, it felt like I was chewing on rubber. The chicken didn't have any seasoning on it and I can't say I've ever ate a combo of carrots and green beans at any Mediterranean place I've been to. Rice was good and the tzatziki/ hummus was good too. I think it's wildly overpriced but the one thing I did like was the service. The guy taking my order was really cool.

Keila's Choice '.

Yelp
Not what it used to be. Sad to say I won't be back. The franchise is outdated, the food is meh. Service was kind though, not enough to keep my return business.

Patricia Z.

Yelp
I haven't had Daphne's in awhile and I was close so my daughter and I decided to stop and get food. Not one thing about the meal was enjoyable. Over $30 wasted. Falafel was mushy, hummus was graining, rice and the soup were flour flavorless, Super disappointed.

Frank P.

Yelp
the portions are now meager, the presentation is terrible for the premium price paid for fast food mediterranean food. There's a better place down the street by Haven market. I'll go there next time. I have no idea why I even came to this place, it's not what it used to be a few years ago. What mediterranean place has no garlic sauce either? And you only get half a pita bread? Come on man I know the economy is in the tank and things are more expensive but if you're going to raise prices keep the damn platter the same stop reducing the portions and yet still raise the prices.

Monica J.

Yelp
I work around the corner and this used to be one of my favorite spots. Sadly I don't think I will be returning. This plate is the two protein but it was $21! The shawarma was extra $ to the already expensive plate. That is what they consider a side of hummus ! Literally two tablespoons maybe . The grilled chicken was rubbery the Shawarma tasted different i can't put my finger on it but not good sour even. The customer service was horrible, not inviting not open to answer questions.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
I came here right before the shutdown and was in the mood for mediterranean. I chose the mix and match with gyro and falafel ($11.69). The falafel was good and the gyro was soft, it was not salty or dry. The side of roasted vegetables and hummus was ok. The place was clean and empty, lots of space for tables but they were in the process of moving them. They took out all the plastic cultery so you had to ask for them. They take card.

Michael G.

Yelp
Came in for a $50 lunch this afternoon to dirty tables. Asked twice for it to have one cleaned. Finally asked girl in clear glasses if I can have a rag to clean my table. Her response was "cant you just sit somewhere else". At which time I pointed to a room of dirty tables and asked where. As it was 3 pm there was only one table seated at the time in a room a filth. You got a 3 as food is good and that offset the one for cleanliness.

Jay E.

Yelp
I lovvveed my salad. Made a quick stop here. Good was so good and the place was very clean as well.

Brandon C.

Yelp
I can't tolerate bugs in food and I think no one else should as well. I have little to no words to say but I'm disappointed. Be careful where you eat people & I'll leave it at that.

Noor A.

Yelp
My mom and I were coming here for the first time. We're not usually in the area, so we seen this establishment and decided to get takeout. We got there around 7:35pm and their doors were already locked but were supposed to stay "open" until 8pm! Through the door a person gestured that they're already closed and was on the phone walking towards us but then stopped and just turned away, so we left. Some customer service.

Kimberly L.

Yelp
I tried Daphne's for the first time today and fell in love! I ordered the Daphne's classic plate with gyro. It came with basmati rice, pita bread, side salad, and side of roasted veggies. The serving of meat and rice was large enough for me to save half to have for later. The rice and meat were seasoned perfectly! I loved the flavor of the roasted veggies and the side salad was light and refreshing. I'd definitely return to Daphne's whenever I'm in the mood for Mediterranean!

John D.

Yelp
Quality has gone downhill. 30 plus for two seems excessive. Customer service only positive. Better options for same price.

Johnny W.

Yelp
Best Mediterranean/Greek food in the IE hands down! I just had the Greek Feta Burger and it was delicious! Haven't been this impressed in awhile but Daphne's always delivers. The chicken soup was the best chicken soup I've ever had!!! It had a zesty, lemony hint to it and it was thick, not like that watery chicken soup you get in a can. The gentleman that took our order (I didn't get his name) but he was the cashier on December 13th, 2022 around 7PM, that guy took great care of my wife and I. He had recommended that I get the burger, and man was he right!! He went above and beyond to make sure the food was hot and brought it straight to our table. Throughout the time we were eating, he came to our table several times to check and see if we needed anything. Excellent customer service, and it's sad you don't see more people that care as much as he did. To the cashier, I appreciate you bro. We will definitely come back. Lastly, I have to shoutout the cook. There was one gentleman cooking and preparing our meals. It came out hot, delicious, and well-proportioned. I didn't see management around so I'm assuming he/she has trust for the cashier and cook running the place, because they didn't lack/disappoint at all!

Amara M.

Yelp
The salad was very well portioned and filling! Not the best Mediterranean I have had but if you need something healthy and quick on a lunch break this is the perfect spot it's never too busy!

Darrell R.

Yelp
I visited on Saturday, November 13, 2021. I was served a dish that was not edible. The meat was too tough to chew and my vegetables were literally dried out. Because it was a to go order, I was stuck with getting beat for $16 bucks because I threw the entire plate away.

Nathaniel J B.

Yelp
Terrible standing and waiting for my food while another customer ordered same but behind me and been sitting and eating for like 10 minutes .....Maybe I should have told them I only have a thirty minutes li lunch during work? Probably never coming back!!!!

Dani B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat since I was in the area for work. I ordered the lunch special with the lemon chicken soup & the gyro pita & drink for $7.99. I had just missed the lunch rush but there were still a good amount of people. Ashleigh the cashier was very quick, nice and efficient. The soup & gyro was tasty and hot. The pita bread was warm. I forgot to ask for their yummy sauce and Ashleigh handed me some (not sure if its extra or free) Restrooms were clean (All Gender Restrooms) and the restaurant was clean and tidy as well.

Evelyn C.

Yelp
Wish there is a Daphne's in Chino Hills. I ordered the Hummus Bowl and my husband ordered the Grilled Chicken Kabob and Grilled Steak Kabob Plate and they were both delicious!!! The service was good too!

Lindsay R.

Yelp
THIS IS MY FAVORITE MEDITERRANEAN/ GREEK SPOT. The ultimate salmon plate is 10/10 delish and they have the best chicken shawarma. I usually don't finish my food and I forced space in my stomach to finish this bc it was that good. Also fast service.

Ann Sherly V.

Yelp
Ordered Chicken Kabob plate. I prefer the kabobs not charred because of the carcinogenic effect. Highly recommend not to prepare as charred chicken. The serving style and front person- Justin was very great. They didn't have pickled turnips etc It does not look like Mediterranean style of food. It's just ok.

Chris C.

Yelp
Got the hummus and pita with lemon soup. I dont understan why, but the hummus was served refigerated cold with warm pita bread. Aaand tge hummus isnt good, store brand would have been far better. The lemon soup is tart, which i should have expected. Nothing wrong just not my cup of tea. Nearly burned myself after driving 10 minutes and trying a eat when going back to wotk. Which means it was served nearly boiling hot. To make matters from bad, to never coming back, the manager was interacting with staff and customers with no mask, whilst his staff was wearing masks. Well atleast one was wearing theres properly, and the other cook was "wearing" his mask below the nose.

Brittani B.

Yelp
The food tasted unclean. I noticed a long black hair strand in my food towards the end. The cooks had short hair so not sure how that got there. About 20 minutes after eating I had the runs. Massive diarrhea! Years ago I got sick from a daphnes located in San Diego. I tried to give these folks another try but never again. Food waay over priced and dirty. My gut is totally off now. Worse part is I am pregnant so both me and my baby are at risk.

Isabel G.

Yelp
As someone who formerly worked for Daphnes California Greek for almost 6 or 7 years ago it says a lot for me to stick with Daphnes Greek food lol Ever since I tried their Chicken Lemon Soup, the Pita Burger and other former items they had before I left were always a delight If you have to credit someone for coming up with the fire feta fries it's me I always ate them like that as a habit and now seeing them as an actual side made my day when I came back to Cali from GA back in 2018. I've been so faithful to their foods ever since. I just wish they'd bring back the Fire feta Pita burgers and the other Falafel they had before. I feel like this new falafel doesn't taste as great ( those who know know). The gyro pita, fire feta and chicken lemon

Zane J.

Yelp
I was craving a gryo and decided to give Daphne's a try. Arrived on a Saturday right before noon and there was no wait. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and was happy to answer some of the questions I had about menu items. The food was delicious, hit the spot!

Allan R.

Yelp
Food was good . Customer service was ok. Just be on a lookout when you order a soup. When I got to the buttom I noticed that cup/bowl was dirty. At 1st I thought it was stained but then I scraped it off and it came off. I was grossed out

Lorri Z.

Yelp
I use to love love this place portions Are so small prices are ridiculous I got the gyro bowl they had olive feta some Mexican red sauce terrible paid 12 for it meat was cold and dry. When I said something he sad that is the way it was not helpful at All kids got the Spice chicken made it A combo was almost 20 they said it was ok charge extra for them to throw some spice red sauce on it never eat Here again

Marc G.

Yelp
I order lunch from Daphne's once a week. The lemon/chicken/rice soup is not exactly avgolemono from my grandmother's recipe ... but it's delicious. I could eat about a gallon ... and it's available as a side order in the combo meals. The salads (topped with your choice of protein) are big, fresh, and delicious. They also offer about a zillion ways to customize them with toppings. I am a fan of the falafel salad, but the gyro and chicken souvlaki options are just as delicious. They include warm pita wedges as well; soft, pillowy and perfect for dipping in hummus. Their hummus is good; not great, but serviceable and definitely worth the price. I recommend it for a delicious, fresh, Greek style lunch.

Elizabeth McSwain M.

Yelp
We love this location! The staff is friendly and professional. Justin & Ashleigh always provide us with great customer service. The food consistently taste great and looks amazing! Caramel Connections Foundation highly recommends that you don't forget to treat yourself to baklava..

Hayley H.

Yelp
I was visiting Rancho for a business meeting and could not stop my craving for Mediterranean. Since I don't know the area very well, I went straight to my trusty handbook - Yelp. Once again, Yelp, you did not disappoint. You brought me to Daphne's; a fast casual Mediterranean concept with a fresh and hip take on one of my favorite cuisines. Upon entering I was instantly greeted by a member of Daphne's friendly staff. He assured me that the most popular dish is the Classic Greek Plate, so I put trust in my peers and dove in. This plate is served with all your Mediterranean favorites, including: choice of protein (mine was chicken), a Greek salad, basmati rice, roasted vegetables, and tzatziki or garlic sauce. Absolutely fantastic meal. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the pita bread tasted freshly baked.. but the real rockstar was the roasted cauliflower and zucchini. If veggies tasted anything like this growing up I would have never complained. I was a little bummed that the dish did not come with a small side of hummus. This is definitely an upgrade I'd make on a returning visit. #hummusfiend
