"Dario’s pastel pink chairs and green cushion booths are so aesthetically pleasing you might worry it's one of those spots where the food doesn’t live up. But it absolutely does—they take pasta seriously, even if your casual date night is all giggles while splitting small plates. Our heart belongs to the doppio ravioli, filled with separate pockets of sunchoke and ricotta before being drizzled with honey. The cocktail menu leans into bitter spirits, but drinks are still balanced, especially the Bad Apple mixed from brandy, vermouth, and amaro. When it comes to dessert, the affogato with a generous scoop of thick vanilla ice cream and a sharp shot of espresso is worth losing a little sleep over." - Stacy Brooks

Google
I was in the area and checked out this spot in the old Palatine train station. They have perfected the art of sandwich making! My wife had the club and I got the CHICKEN BREAST FOCACCIA. Both were fantastic! Be aware it’s a small space so your conversation won’t be private!

Google
Nice local spot by the train station with hearty, fresh, flavor-packed sandwiches. Tried the Southwest Chicken Panini and the Chicken Breast Focaccia and both were yummy and filling!

Google
Best stop for sandwiches, paninis, and wraps! The portions are huge and ingredients always taste fresh and flavorful. Anytime I’m in town, I’m crossing my fingers that they are open and I can grab a quick sandwich. Service is super fast and friendly. There are a handful of seats inside as well as outside. While it’s a smaller place, it’s not to be missed!

Google
Dario's is my all time favorite sandwich/panini restaurant!! It never fails me! I first learned about Dario's, 4 years ago, from my patient who worked there and told me about it. I gave it a try and OMG!!! Their sandwiches are delicious, so flavorful, moist (with chipotle hummus/pesto aioli options). I love how the panini is so filling and full of different textures and flavors and well cooked. The big plus for me is that their sandwiches are moist and tasty versus the ones like in Panera - their bread is so dry and crumbly when toasted. Also the sandwiches are a good portion for such a reasonable price compared to other sandwich places! I have introduced this place to a lot of our friends to enjoy some delicious sandwiches and they are definitely pleased! Give this local place a try and let me know what you think about it!

Google
Second time trying Dario’s - first time wasn’t great either. We ordered the club wrap which was bagged salad and ham rolled into a tortilla and pressed warm, the chicken hummus wrap which was essentially the same as the club wrap except with chicken and smothered in chipotle sauce, and the potato leek soup that didn’t have any potatoes in it. Overall pretty bad experience for paying $35+. Won’t go back but wanted to like this local shop.

Google
Paninis are really good. I've only tried the veggie panini but each time it's been great. Bummer is that they don't have dine-in service plates so every order uses plastic like with carry out orders. Love the building they are in - really quaint and antique.

Peter Jewusiak

Google
Absolutely delicious sandwich. I created my own sandwich using the ingredients they had. Turkey, Ham, avocado, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese, Pesto aioli and Dijon mustard. Toasted perfectly. I need to come back and try their other signature sandwiches and wraps.

Google
First time in palantine and I will say this place caught me by surprise. Went in bought a Santa Fe salad it was huge and delicious will definitely try other items on the menu!

Sam W.

Yelp
fantastic sandwiches with a large variety that you can customize to your liking. Can never go wrong with Dario's!

Kadee D.

Yelp
I really don't have to say much about this spot because it's fire and they know it! They have specialty sandwiches and wraps, they load it up and listen to your requests! Wish they had more soup options but they are a pretty small place and get you order out fast which is awesome! Keep it up, love going there for lunch! Go get the special focaccia chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon and giardiniera!!! Don't snooze !

Steve A.

Yelp
Good place in a convenient location in Palatine downtown. Dario's is pretty close to the Metra station. It has sandwiches and that's pretty much all they have there. Good ones, not ones from corporate chains. There's not a whole lot for vegetarians, but they can customize a few sandwiches. Came in and got a wrap to eat inside. It's about $9 for a sandwich. That's a pretty good price for the size of these. A lot of the menu is meaty. The Chipotle Hummus Wrap comes with chicken, but I got it with avocado though. Free of charge, which made sense of course. It also has grilled red onions, lettuce, and roasted peppers. Ended up being a good substitute with avocado. This I could get again because it was pretty cheap and a big lunch. Has quite a few sandwiches to choose from. It has inside and more outside seating. There's ways to get substitutes on sandwiches such as avocado to make it okay for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
A hidden gem in downtown Palatine! It's a small place serving one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Got the Cubano and the meat was extremely tender and flavorful. It had a perfect balance of richness from the meat and cheese and acidity from the pickles. The bread was crisp yet not hard and had the good crunch. The chopped chicken salad was also good with an extremely large portion size. Had a good amount of chicken and bacon and the avocado a perfect addition. Staff was extremely friendly and I felt like I was treated like family.

Brett S.

Yelp
Amazing Cubano sandwich that will fill you up. That sandwich alone has had me going back there consistently. The paninis are quality as well. I wish they had a bigger selection of soups on the daily. Cozy place for sure that feels very homey. The only reason it lost a star from me is because they are only open 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. So let's say you are someone that lives in Palatine but doesn't work in the area, your only chance to eat at this place is the small 4 hour window on a Saturday or on a day off during the week (if you work a Mon-Fri job).

Megan B.

Yelp
I'm consistently disappointed when we order from here. Sandwiches and wraps are mushy and messy imo. Club wrap had the lettuce mix from the bag and fell apart from the bottom. Flatbreads aren't cooked long enough. I always want to enjoy this place since so many people like.

Montse M.

Yelp
I completely love this place every time I go here I like that they fill my sandwich and at the end of my meal I feel full instead of going to Subway or any other chain where I don't feel full after a sandwich I recommend it because it's a good price as well and they give you a drink with your meal. I've also tried their salads and they are very big and have a filling feeling after eating those as well. The only downside is that they close early.

Allison P.

Yelp
Dario's is the best! Kindest customer service around! Their food is so good and you get a lot for the money! I randomly picked this place for lunch and I did not regret it. Amazing! Went back the next day and got the Southwest Chicken Panini and also got a customized sandwich. Yes, I created my own sandwich using the ingredients they had. Turkey, Ham, avocado, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese, Pesto aioli and Dijon mustard. Toasted perfectly. Hands down one of the best sandwiches I've had. I strongly recommend this place to anyone.

Klaudia G.

Yelp
I usually love Darios and I think they are generous with their portions but I ordered a salad today and was a but disappointed. $15 for a chopped chicken salad. It has barely any tomato or avocado. It also included some large, hard chunks of lettuce which I don't think should be included in the salad. I might have to stick to the wraps and sandwiches which appear to be better value for what is given.

Yelp
Dario's is low key AMAZING. We stumbled on this place looking for a quick lunch. It's been a long time we've been blown away by a food joint let alone a homey sandwich shop next to the Palatine train station, but we're dreaming about the next time we can go back. We had the Cubano and Club. Everything from the freshly sliced seasoned meat, warm soft bread, medley of flavors, to the sweet hardworking staff. The Italian soup with the lunch special was also on point. From these two sandwiches alone, I'm convinced you can't go wrong here. Dario's made us happy. I cannot believe how underrated this place is. Really hope they can open more locations!

Yelp
Excellent Absolutely The BEST SANDWICHES IVE EVER HAD! So ya know how ya see the stars and ya wonder hmmmm? I have them all over the USA......this place WAS/is the BEST SANDWICH SHOP IVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! Just Delicious!!! They should be on Guy Fieri's shows! I'm sure my bro from OH-IO WOULD LOVEM!!! You too! Guaranteed

Yelp
I came across Dario's on March 5 while wandering through downtown Palatine, enjoying the weather and exploring new restaurants to try. I'm so glad we chose Dario's! The place is tiny, but offers a nice selection of wraps, paninis and salads. I made my selection while I waited to order at the counter, but when I reached the register, there was a sign advertising a 1/2 sandwich and soup lunch special, so I quickly changed my mind. I ordered the Southwest Chicken Panini and a cup of soup. As I wrote this a week later, the soup is not at all memorable, but that sandwich was amazing! It was packed full of flavor and they served me a full-sized sandwich, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a very good lunch, and I'd definitely order it again, but try a different soup. My friend ordered a salad that was also very big and delicious. The only thing I'd change is to not have the food served in takeout containers for those dining in. It's just unnecessary waste.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Came here after their Cuban went viral and wow, there's a reason it's the talk of the town. It is pricey, but if you don't mind paying for quality and flavor.. you'll want to check this place out!

Aiden T.

Yelp
I really love everything about Dario's! They have an absolutely delicious sandwich. I created my own sandwich using the ingredients they had. Turkey, Ham, avocado, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese, Pesto aioli and Dijon mustard. Toasted perfectly. They have indoors and outdoors seating, and a cozy atmosphere, Dario's is able offer a great break from your work day or a relaxing weekend afternoon. Expect to be greeted with a smile and walk out of there with one yourself. I need to come back and try their other signature sandwiches and wraps. Big thanks to their staff for such a wonderful service.

Yelp
This restaurant has emotionally burnt to the ground. I will never eat here again. Pre COVID it was amazingly good fresh and generous. Now it is a pile of ashes that serves a panini with wilted lettuce that was turning black. It was so sad that I swear a rabbit got up and walked away when I offered it to him. Sadly the SW chicken salad that required a microscope to find the chicken. And don't get me started in the Turkey deli meat sandwich that I think was Oscar Myer bologna. Seriously, is Turkey meat supposed to be pink / brown ? Not at the jewel deli ... really I thought it was ham. Sad to report this place fell off the cliff. Hope they figure it out and bring it back to life.

Ann H.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious. Prompt service as well. Can't wait to try everything on the menu!

Isabella R.

Yelp
Sandwiches are the bomb here! The provide the sandwich with a lot of meat all for a great price. I usually do the BYO sandwich on ciabatta bread toasted and it's delicious. My Boyfriend got the Cubano and he says it's best cubano he's ever had. The flavor is excellent. Service is pretty fast. Wish they had longer hours though!

Kathleen H.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Every time I go here I'm impressed. Such good paninis. I love the Vivo and the Roma both delicious.

Yelp
If you're yearning for a fresh and delicious sandwich, you will be lucky if Dario's is within a close traveling distance. Choose among a variety of enticing menu selections, or select your own favorites for a custom option. Service is pleasant, care is taken into construction, and the space inside and out is clean and inviting. Have to have a great and fair priced sandy instead of a cheap boring lunch? Just go!

Katherine K.

Yelp
This is our favorite sandwich shop in Palatine and the surrounding area! The staff is so nice, everything is made the way it reads in the menu (no missing ingredients), and it's always cool to see who's there when you pop in. Highly recommend the med chicken wrap, the Cubano, and their soup!

Yelp
Food was really good. Got a couple paninis and soup. No wait time Guy who took my order needs to drink coffee and be professional. Literally yawning in my face when he was taking my order. Asked him if I was boring him. Gave me a sob story about having to be up early for school then come to work. Told him yea it's called adulting

Michael S.

Yelp
I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to review this place (ah yes, the laziness), but this place is one of my absolute favorite places to go for a great casual meal at a competitive price. It's a cool little shop near the Palatine train station that offers a multitude of paninis/sandwiches/wraps, flatbreads, and salads (and more). The servings are more than generous, and could make multiple meals out of a single order. I've grabbed it on the go, I've dined in (limited seating but expands in summer with outdoor seating ....whenever we get to do that again)... and the food is always ready fast, never a bad choice, and a refreshing change of pace that you can go-to when you're looking to change it up. Rec: Fiesta Panini, Greek Salad, any flatbread

Kayla K.

Yelp
Cute local sandwich shop in downtown palatine. I enjoy the chicken pesto sandwich. Really big and juicy with nice focaccia bread. The soup was also nice.

Jay F.

Yelp
Holy shit. How did I not know about this place? My wife & I drove down from Lakemoor to have a late lunch & it was worth the drive! We tried the Roma & the Cubano. We could not find a single thing wrong with these sandwiches! They were perfect!!! Staff is friendly, restaurant was clean & incase I didn't make this clear the food is fucking delicious!!!! We will be back to try more!

T K.

Yelp
Great huge sandwiches. Gotta be hungry to finish. Long lines usually go fast. Great place.

John M.

Yelp
Dario's is close to work for me so I can get lunch there and the food is great!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Great sandwich and a fair price. Cute place with plenty of free street parking. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu as this was our first time. We choose the soup and 1/2 panne; it was very good and the 1/2 sandwich was good sized. If I'm ever out that way I will come back.

Olga W.

Yelp
I loved this place! I can't believe I haven't stopped by much sooner or I would try every panini and sandwich on the menu by now. I came in 20 mins before closing to dine in and even though nobody was there besides myself I didn't feel rushed. I ordered bbq roasted pork sandwich and let me tell ya, it was HEAVEN! Very moist but not soggy, with delicious coleslaw and pickles. It was everything I love on my sandwich! The bread was delicious as well! I was done in less than 3 minutes with the whole thing, it was finger-licking good! I will most certainly be back if I'm ever in t

Marissa A.

Yelp
When most places think of a sandwich shop, they don't get too excited. But this place is far from your average Jimmy John's. They offer hand crafted sandwiches with a variety of flavor combinations. I tried the Roma, and it was a very tasty flavor combo. They add a ton of meat to the sandwiches, and truth be told the sandwich is so large, just one half is enough for my entire meal. I had to learn that the hard way the first time, so I chose to split it with my mom going forward. I also tried the club, and it was very tasty as well. I enjoyed the panini pressed bread, and the double mayo'd bread pieces. My only issue is that the sandwiches do not come with free chips or fries, which technically as listed in my last paragraph, is not a deal breaker. I just like a bit of a salty crunch with my sandwiches. However, they can be purchased for an additional charge.

John G.

Yelp
They don't serve breakfast; not sure why this is listed for breakfast. And service is very slow.

Jeremy M.

Yelp
I heard about this restaurant from a couple of friends and decided to give it a try. It's tucked away in the Palatine area right next to the Palatine Metra train station! Parking is plentiful but if you're not from this area, make sure to read the signs because some of the parking spots are for Metra users only! The parking that you can use is for 3 hours so you have plenty of time to eat and even walk around the area. I decided to order the daily special which consists of 1/2 panini and a cup of soup. The special is priced at about 9 dollars, otherwise you can order a full item from their panini or specialty sandwich menu! I ordered the the BCT and Tomato Basil soup. Both were delicious; the bread was fresh and the panini was made to order making it nice and warm. The environment is cozy and I'll definitely be back to try other items!

Mai T.

Yelp
Looking for a good deli/panini place? Looking for a good lunch spot? Look no more. Local in the heart of DT Palatine, this place never fails! Our favs: chicken breast focaccia and club sandwich They do have a couple tables outside if you like to enjoy your lunch in the sun. Sitting indoors is slightly limited. Not great for large groups.

Maria B.

Yelp
Sandwiches and salads are fresh. Friendly staff. Small but cute dining area. During warmer weather you can enjoy eating outside of restaurant.

John M.

Yelp
Excellent soup and sandwich. I wish I lived closer and I would be a regular here. Definitely going to be my go to place anytime I'm in Palatine.

Fast Eddie F.

Yelp
The BEST sandwiches in Palatine for sure. A wider geography probably. Great counter staff and a unique location with plenty of parking.

Mike H.

Yelp
Good Cuban and other sandwiches. Stop by if you're ever near palatine. It is worth the price and time.

Andrew D.

Yelp
Great food, service is limited due to the small size of the place. Tremendous sandwiches.

Vincent A.

Yelp
GREAT PANINIS. Very quick and easy lunch spot, make sure to come during the hours it opens and the specific days. Worth the time and easy central location. Would go back

IM D.

Yelp
Unassuming sandwich shop in downtown palatine. Complete gem of a place with friendly staff and unexpectedly excellent sandwiches. It's one of those special places that serves CRAVABLE food in generous quantity and high quality. Darios owns the hot sandwich game in the NW suburbs.

Connie H.

Yelp
The portions are huge! A bunch of people in my party got wraps, which were gigantic. I got half the vivo panini and a cup of soup. The vivo was okay, but I'd probably try a different panini or maybe a wrap next time. There wasn't too much flavor in it. I got the potato leek soup (sooo good), which this soup rotated and isn't always on the menu. I tried the house soup that is always on the menu. It was good, but the potato leek was far better in my opinion. Very different types of soups though. No high chairs here and the restaurant is pretty small, but we were able to pull tables together though to fit 6 adults and 3 kids. The staff was super nice, which made it a very inviting and a homey place to be. Was nice to be inside in a cozy restaurant on a cold day.

Michael D.

Yelp
Dario's is very, very good for a nice little spot in downtown Palatine. I've been here before but haven't reviewed until today. I ordered the Caprese Panini and must say it was very well executed and delicious. Menu has a great selection of Panini's and Focacia sandwiches along with Flatbreads. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

JCarlos S.

Yelp
The good is pretty basic. Not great, not horrible. The service at the counter was fairly quick. It's a quick stop by the convenient train station. We had (2) sandwiches, (2) chips and (2) drinks for $35, so there's that too.

Craig S.

Yelp
Not gonna waste time on a lengthy review here...read all of the other FANTASTIC reviews...they are 100% correct. If you want one of the BEST sandwiches around - Here you go!! #1 for a good reason....TRY THIS PLACE!!

Tucker H.

Yelp
Best hidden gem downtown palatine. My go to is always the fiesta panini and it has never let me down. Salads always fire too as well as their soups. Have experienced nothin bad from this place. Recommend to everyone and if you don't know about Dario's yet, you're missing out.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Came yesterday with my husband, as we live in the are and we wanted to try this place out. It's located in a very cute spot, and the building sits on the corner of a V-section Street, which adds more to its uniqueness. It is not a large place, about 12 tables on the inside, and maybe 5 or six tables outside. The menu had a lot to offer! My husband ordered their Cubano (ham, roasted pork, cheese, pickles, and habanero aioli on a ciabatta roll), and ordered their southwest wrap (I think that's what it was called), and that had roasted pork, lettuce, black beans, cheese, avocado in a 10 inch wrap. We also got some chips and tea to go along with our meal. The wrap was HUGE!!! Picture a healthy burrito! HUGE!!! If I would have known it was going to be that big, I would have passed on the chips. However, I ate the entire thing, because it was that good! The wrap was pressed, so it had a nice toasted texture to it. The pork was not dry, and it was not drenched in sauce like some other places cook their pork. It was also shredded finely, which gave a great texture to the inside of the wrap. The lettuce was crisp and fresh, but it was the black beans that added that extra taste. I highly recommend you try this wrap (again, I can't remember the name!). My husband said his pork on his Cubano was also cooked perfectly, shredded finely, and he too liked the fact that it was not dressed in sauce. He smokes pork all of the time, so he is very picky with his pork. He said the habanero aioli has a little kick, but it wasn't enough to deter him from the sandwich. He was extremely impressed with the bread, as he said it was fresh, and he didn't have to tear into it like other breads. Overall, we find a great sandwich joint that has a lot of options! We both want to go back to try their soup and other sandwiches! The staff was friendly and helpful, as well. I totally recommend checking this place out!

Lindsey J.

Yelp
I ordered a build your own turkey sandwich but I'm pretty sure I received a ham sandwich. I couldn't quite tell what the mystery meat was because it was slightly pink and slimy, probably came straight out of the Oscar Mayer container. We also ordered a flatbread which was basically a low quality pizza. Overall, food was mediocre, prices were a little high, and service was satisfactory. We were overcharged by the young man who leans against the counter with his back to the restaurant. Fortunately they were quick to rectify the situation without hesitation, which I appreciated. Can someone tell me why there is a microwave next to the toilet in the women's restroom?

Kate S.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in town! The Cubano is so so so delicious - with in house smoked pork. Most sandwiches can be split between two people or half saved for another meal. The price of the sandwiches are worth it- so do not shy away from a delicious experience

Ryan S.

Yelp
I don't know how I've never been here. Best panini I've ever had. Freshest ingredients and packed in the sandwich. I will be a frequent customer.
