A Must-See Haunt: Dark Hour Delivers Immersion, Atmosphere, and Unforgettable Horror! My girlfriend and I had the incredible opportunity to visit Dark Hour Haunted House during the Texas Haunter’s Convention Tour, and this experience exceeded every expectation we had. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was clear—Dark Hour is in a league of its own. The show was deeply immersive, and the level of detail in the set design was absolutely mind-blowing. Every inch of the walkthrough was crafted with purpose and precision, transporting us into a world that felt theatrical, eerie, and totally alive. The pacing of the show was flawless, and each scene flowed naturally into the next, keeping us on edge and fully engaged from start to finish. The actors were phenomenal—each performer delivered committed, high-energy scares and interactions that truly brought the environment to life. Whether it was the subtle tension of a slow approach or a perfectly timed startle, every moment felt intentional and professional. And let’s just say it—Dark Hour also has the cleanest bathrooms we’ve ever seen at a haunted attraction. It might seem like a small detail, but it speaks volumes about the care and professionalism that goes into every part of the guest experience. We also want to extend a huge thank-you to Allen and Shannon for being such gracious and welcoming hosts. Despite how busy the evening was, they took a few moments to chat and let us into their world. That small gesture meant so much to us. Their passion, generosity, and dedication to their craft shone through in every detail of the experience. Whether you’re a lifelong haunt enthusiast or just dipping your toes into the world of immersive horror, Dark Hour is a must-see destination. It’s the perfect combination of artistry, adrenaline, and community—and we’re already looking forward to coming back for more.

Dark Hour Haunted House was a thrilling Friday night adventure. The attention to detail was impressive, creating a truly immersive and cinematic experience. From the actors outside to the intricate sets inside, every element was designed to scare and delight. The well-lit parking and variety of merchandise made it a convenient and enjoyable visit. We had a blast and can't wait to return for another frightfully good time!

Google
Dark Hour is a fantastic haunted house and definitely worth the ticket price! Depending on your walking speed it takes between 30 and 45 minutes to go through the whole thing, and you'll be really entertained and thrilled the whole time. The environment, props, and actors are all really cool with lots of different scenes to go through, in one scene they even have a monster jumping mid air between platforms! The wait to get inside isn't bad at all, as they move people along pretty quickly. I would recommend buying tickets online as it really saves time. Overall I'd definitely recommend visiting at least once this Halloween season

Google
30-45 minutes of jump scares from actors and animatronics, this place was fantastic! Be sure you get your tickets in advance, allow time to find parking especially if you have a later time slot. Lots of strobing lights and this could be challenging for someone with mobility issues. We'll be back again! Five stars for the actors and the setup!!

My visit to Dark Hour Haunted House was an absolute nightmare—and not in the fun Halloween way. I came expecting jump scares, creepy sets, and a good time with friends. Instead, I left shaken, bruised, and furious. About halfway through the haunt, one of the staff members—not an actor in a safe, scripted scare—actually chased me down in the middle of a scene. I thought it was part of the act until they kept coming at full speed, closing the distance way too aggressively. Before I could process what was happening, they lunged and tackled me to the ground. I hit the floor hard, scraping my hands and knees, and my shoulder still hurts days later. There was no apology, no concern for my well-being—just a quick “it’s part of the show” as they walked off. It was humiliating, unsafe, and completely unnecessary. I’ve been to many haunted attractions, and never once has a staff member made physical contact like that, let alone tackled someone. This experience ruined the entire night for me. I couldn’t even enjoy the rest of the haunt because I was so shaken and angry. Dark Hour seriously needs to retrain their staff and understand the boundaries between entertainment and outright assault. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others stay away.

Google
Great haunted house. There was a lot of attention to detail. There was so much work put into styling each room. Great scares. The wait was manageable with timed tickets. I wish when groups are sent in, not all the scares happen to the first person.

Google
Haunted houses are my thing.. and this is the best haunted house I've ever been to. There is so much detail in hard work put into it with each different room / theme. Everybody in character made it a scary good time! Five stars!

Google
The Dark Hour Haunted House and its team out did them selves this year. I am a long time fan of this fantastic haunt but they really changed it up this season. It’s a must see show . I encourage anyone thinking of going to a haunted house to put the Dark Hour on their list. Lots of actors, well thought out, very detailed and very professional! Keep up the amazing work Dark Hour.

Yelp
Highly recommend this experience for those who love the Halloween spirit -- or those who simply the live for the thrills that come with a real haunted house! We opted for the basic, non-VIP ticket. Glad we did. Lines were sub-20 minutes for our 8:30pm time slot. Buying tickets at the counter on-site and check-in was a breeze. At $53 pp, that is the maximum price I would say is worth the experience. It takes about 25 minutes to walk though. Five stars thanks to being a great example of attention to detail. From decor to placement of the talent, everything has been nicely thought out. Kudos to the team -- see you next year!

Yelp
This haunted house is very well done! This place took us 40 minutes to walk through nonstop scares with live actors and animatronics. The atmosphere was perfectly set, and the staff executed flawlessly. I recommend the VIP tickets to avoid long lines and to get a chance to scare people in the lounge. They might be pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Yelp
By far the best haunted house I've been to in way of decor. There were soooo many details and different themed rooms that were super festive. The length was also pretty decent, it was about 30 minutes. It was pretty expensive though, $65 on a Saturday. I think there should be some kind of ride or souvenir included for that price. Also, they should really do a better job of timing the groups and spacing them out. It was literally easy to see what was coming because there wasn't much space between the parties. I had to get in front and wait until I couldn't see the group in front of me so that I could kind of get my money's worth. The line was about 15-20 mins around 9 on a Saturday. Not bad, but again I would've rather wait in line longer to give the group ahead more time so that I couldn't see them.
google avatar

Bruce S.

Yelp
Very well done. The human monsters are great. The costumes are great The scenes and props are fantastic. And all the staff are wonderful. A great night. Well worth the price.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Dark hour is one of the best haunts in the area, with movie quality sets. Get your tickets online with a promo code and go early in the spooky season to get the best price. They do tend to charge more at the door, which I don't like but they do offer the online discount. Hopefully that means so they know how much of a crowd to expect per night. We went the first night they opened this year and they let us go a second time; so their actors could get more practice with their performances to gear up for the season. Which shows the owners/managers care about putting on a great show. A bonus is they have an escape room; and do various events thru out the year that are fun!

Yelp
This haunted house is pretty expensive in my opinion for what it was. I also wish the haunted house was much longer! I still had a great time though but was super disappointed when it was over. The lines are terribly long!! We upgraded to a fast track upon arrival because the place closes at 12 and the lines were so long we didn't want to wait! Parking is a little crazy. Don't be surprised to park a little far from the venue and walk. However, it wasn't bad and it took less than 5 min to get to the venue from where we parked. I think they can do a better job by not putting big groups together because it ruins the suspense and fun! My friend and I were grouped with 4 other people who ended up being in front of us. 95% of the time I knew something was ahead because they were screaming or I saw the actor before I was approaching. There were also times in the haunted house that we were walking for a long time without anyone coming out to scare us. There were some good moments and parts but a lot of improvements would've made it better especially for the price!

Yelp
Visited on sunday Halloween was on a Tuesday for 2023, got in line at 7:15 on 10/29, LONG WAIT, we entered the haunt at 925. As soon as you get in, if you have a large enough party you'll be with only your group and it will take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete. I thought that there was a solid mix of jump scares and actors popping out as well as excellent scary props and setup. My group of friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this haunt and I think all of the actors did a great job of scaring although some of them you could see them peek out beforehand so we knee where they were. We drove an hour to get to this hunt and I do think it was worth it on the nights that you pay 35 to 40, I think the 65 to 70 is quite steep.

Yelp
Nicely done!!! Place was well made.. it was scary, lots of fun, organization was great, a lot of parking around it available. Definitely a must go!

Yelp
I've been to the haunted house once with my wife and daughter. Excellent experience and worth the money. The monster actors really get into it and the props and rooms are top notch and well thought out. Another great thing about this place is the community that surrounds it. They have a fun toy drive, krampus day, swap meet around the holidays. Super friendly vibe from everyone.
google avatar

Claire H.

Yelp
I was very impressed with the way the haunt was set up. You can tell hard work was put into making look real! The actors are also amazing!! The low rating is strictly for the wait we had, we got in line at 7pm and didn't even start the haunt until 10:15 pm. A 3.15 hr wait is insane. By the time we went into the haunt we wanted to leave because we were so tired from standing in line. Maybe it was the day we went but I don't think I would return after what we endured.

Melissa C.

Yelp
This haunted house is absolutely amazing. You can tell today owner and higher ups really care about their actors and employees.

Yelp
It was cool in Plano. But basically, people need air! And by the way, those people are building the new horror collectible store in Plano. And I forgot, the only thing those people do things professionally is they get so nervous before they travel.

Wyatt R.

Yelp
It was so scary and fun definitely recommend this place. There was like super scary rooms and I got chased around and almost fell lol.

Paul A.

Yelp
This was a great experience and we had a really good time. The haunted house part was awesome, just enough scary and just enough interaction. Also, VIP service was really worth it. I would highly recommend it. We will definitely do it a few more times this coming up season.

Brian R.

Yelp
The opening night was spectacular. Everyone in my group was scared multiple times. The actors were energetic and knew how to use every nook and cranny of the haunt to strike fear into the hearts of their patrons. The sets are so detailed that they make you feel like you are in a different world. The first big room is my absolute favorite. I loved all the Jack-o'-lanterns and spooky Halloween characters. This haunt is unlike any other haunted attraction you'll find in the state of Texas. I highly recommend it, 100 out of 10!
google avatar

Sasha K.

Yelp
My daughter and I travel to a different state each year to do Haunted Houses. Before this one we did Cutting Edge because of all it's accolades. It was an average experience that is duplicated in almost every major market. Dark Hour however, was a complete unique experience and was focused primarily on theme, visuals and the overall experience. It ranks in our top 5 and was worth the flight to Texas. Quick breakdown of the others we visited. Scream = 2 stars, cutting Edge = 3 stars and Thrillvania = 2 stars.

Joanne F.

Yelp
It was super long and scary and super fun. Loved the details everywhere, but too scared to linger lol. Best haunted house I've ever been too, hands down.
google avatar

Jas J.

Yelp
Enjoyed the haunted house. I like scary, so it wasn't scary to me. We did get to a point where the group in front and behind us were all one large group. I'd return

Phillip A.

Yelp
They have an escape room that is fun and well done. We had a great time with our family and friends and the staff was great and made it more fun.
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Haunted house was fun, but not as scary. I would get startled at times but nothing that gave me nightmares unfortunately. Had a great time still.
google avatar

Summer K.

Yelp
WOW! Totally amazed how awesome this really was!! It's definitely worth it! Super scary! Lost track of how many times I screamed like a little girl! Seriously! Line was a bit long so next time I'll probably pay to skip the line.

Tanya N.

Yelp
This was featured as the top 10 haunted attractions in the US; and from the minute you step inside, you realize it's not your ordinary haunted house. Dark Hour is a full blown production. It's a show, a scary show! The effort and work and detail is immense. Definitely a must see!
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
So the Dark haunted house, in my opinion, could have had more experienced scare actors. I have been going to haunted houses since I was 15 and over the years have become a bit numb to the scaring. I saw good reviews about Dark hour so I was excited thinking maybe I might get a good scare and a good laugh unfortunately I left with neither. Although the rooms were very detailed and immersive, I did enjoy the overall spooky aesthetics of Halloween but if you're looking for a scare, I'd say look somewhere else.
google avatar

Alanna M.

Yelp
I loved it here! Top 10 in the country for a reason! Equal scares for everyone not just the people in the front or back. 10/10 recommend better than house of torment in austin use code SPIRIT for $5 off tickets
google avatar

Renee' A.

Yelp
Folks what are you doing? It's like every time I come back it gets worse and worse. Don't know if management has changed or what but it IS NOT worth the $$$ teenager heaven!!! They did NOT social distance and mostly 90% of the people/teenagers that came inside that place did NOT wear a mask. No COVID protocol or anything! Some might love that idea!! Only thing they did was check your temp, outside. Only reason 2 stars cause the Asylum one was decent. And it was the short one. Thumbs down for me and my group agreed with me too with how it all turned out.
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
$60 to walk through 1 haunted house?? I thought this has to be a joke. Nope. It's real. How ridiculous. The haunted house is great, but no where near $60 for the 20 minutes it take to walk through it. I can't believe they have the audacity to charge that much. Only in pretentious DFW could you get away with these insane prices. We won't be back next year. Neither will anyone in our group.

Amy E.

Yelp
DO THE ESCAPE ROOM!!!!! We are long-time Dark Hour fans, and if you are anything like us, you may not know they now have an Escape Room! Currently there is only one, with 2 more on the way. It was the most fun escape room we have ever done, and I can highly recommend it for even just 4 people. I can't wait until the other 2 are done, so I can do those as well! Excellent revenue stream idea for between events...great work, Dark Hour!
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
This place gets 4 stars for the detail in their costumes and themes! Also their actually layout and the different rooms are pretty cool!!! But I have to take one star off because it was not as scary as I thought it would be. Have you ever been to Cutting Edge? Don't expect this one to be as scary as that if you have.. I think this haunted house is more geared to kids and families to be quite honest. I will say the staff was very nice and the line this past weekend was only about 45 minutes. Would I go again? Probably not, but I do recommend it to families that want something to do for the Halloween season!
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
Decent haunt but not worth $66 a person. The props and flow of walk through is solid. Actors are 50/50. Minimal wait time is a plus. This was better in past years and unless they adjust pricing, we won't be back.
google avatar

Dylan V.

Yelp
This place sucks so much. I wish I can give it 0 stars but you can't. And it's our 2nd year in a row going and we were disappointed again. Don't waste your money at this place. It's honestly a complete mistake. $140 for 2 tickets and did not get scared. There were so many people back to back inside the haunted house so there was no time for the people to get ready to scare you. Not scary at all. Don't recommend this place unless your a little kid maybe 12 or under. We will never be back ever again!! Please just go to cutting edge instead of this place And save your money
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
Awesome experience! First time visiting Dark Hour and it did not disappoint. Came here on a Thursday night with a fast pass so there was no wait. There was not much of a line through general admission but we didn't want to take a chance with long lines. The main haunt is definitely an experience. I love the different themes they have around each corner. The amount of details in each room as well as the use of numerous animatronics really set this haunt above all others. I also enjoyed the props hanging down causing you to duck and maneuver through them taking your attention away from the actors popping out at you. The smaller asylum haunt is very actor driven. This is more typical of what I have seen at other haunted houses. There is one scene in this haunt that did catch me off guard and it involved a long hallway where the lights turn off one by one as you walk through until it is pitch black. It was awesome. Overall this is the best haunted house I have attended. I am glad to see that the the haunt lived up to the reviews. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Breanna M.

Yelp
This was amazing we come every year! Highly suggest this place and its great for kids too! Every year they switch up the haunted house so its not the same every-time you go! Worth every penny!

Yelp
I was so impressed with this haunt. I've been to a TON over the years (including this one 4 years ago) and this was one of my top experiences ever. First, it's popular - so get there early or be prepared to wait in line or pay extra to skip the line. Buy your tickets online at least a day in advance to save money. Tbh $35 on a Friday night for a 40 minute haunt of this quality is not overpriced by any stretch. If you want to go at the premium time on a Saturday or Halloween weekend, unsurprisingly, it's more expensive. Line moved quickly and I enjoyed the actors interacting with the queue. Second, this is not an EXTREME haunt, so you're not signing waivers and getting touched/shocked/isolated/etc. it's a classic maze with scare actors interacting with you through spooky scenes and tableaus. You enter in groups of 6, so find 5 friends if you don't want to be paired with randos. The production value inside the haunt is just incredible -- the level of detail and environmental immersion is honestly better than what Universal Studios is doing at HHN. I was truly impressed. TONS of actors throughout, great animatronics, imaginative puppets, sheer creativity -- and wonderful storytelling! You guys outdid yourselves. Can't wait to come back again.
google avatar

Tanya N.

Yelp
Best Haunted House show in Texas! Two attractions, both incredible. We had so much fun! Scary af! Worth every dime. Costumes, performers, and effects were so good. Definitely don't miss this Halloween.
google avatar

Saralynn B.

Yelp
Been twice now, once at Christmas and now on Valentine's Day. So much fun. Awesome entertainment before the haunt, I think Reba was her name?, she had an amazing voice!! Kudos to her. Great performance and makeup. Definitely has me excited and scared during most of the haunt. The second smaller haunt scared the CRAP out of me and my husband. We literally screamed through the whole thing. Definitely got us!!!! Haha. We loved it! The cast and faculty are all lovely people and so kind.
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
Easily the best Haunted House I've ever been to! The attention to detail, costumes and set up were unlike anything I've ever experienced before. The actors were terrifying and exceptional. This spot is amazing and I highly recommend going!

Caitlin E.

Yelp
I had never been to a haunted house before, and neither had my boyfriend, so we thought this would be the perfect spooky experience for Halloween. I am a horror fan and do not scare easily, and this absolutely blew me away. The atmosphere was immersive, the costume design was spectacular, and the actors were nothing short of fantastic. You won't be touched, but they WILL invade your personal space. Each area has an immersive set and its own monsters, making for an incredible experience. I found myself getting scared far more than I expected, but it never crossed the line where I wasn't having fun. I'm impressed!

Paola G.

Yelp
We have been coming here every year and it had never disappointed until last night. Each group now has a worker that escorts your group, I thought this was an amazing idea, but the worker DOESNT do their job. The group ahead us was going SO SLOW that we ended up interfering with them and it wasn't fun nor scary anymore, since they were spoiling everything for us. What's the point of having an escort if they are not going to walk the group faster? At the end of the experience, We communicated it to our escort, and instead he blamed us for not coming in an earlier date that there were not a lot of people. Make it make sense, first of all, there were not a lot of people. I have been in peak days were the line was on the street and the experience has been better than this one. Just spread more the groups instead of blaming the customer for choosing a day to come! Anyways, I guess this was our last time here, we will try the Cutting Edge haunted house next!

Joshua M.

Yelp
I've been to alot of haunted houses, and this is no different. I wanted to do the best option they had which was the VIP experience. Hands down a really fun time and amazing set designs. My only issue really is the lack of time you're in for the amount you pay. I paid 120 for two fast passes, food/beverages in the vip room, I got to scare people both in person and through a screen. All really fun! If you go with friends or family I promise it's worth the time, but again unless you go twice the actual experience is 30-35 min long. I hope this was helpful :)
google avatar

Terry P.

Yelp
Had a lot of fun! Very well conceived! Great scares! You get a lot for your money . Lots of energy from the participant! Highly recommend!! It does take about 30 minutes to walk through it so be prepared!

MR B.

Yelp
Every year, my family and I search for the best haunted houses, and I honestly don't know how we missed this Gem. From beginning to end, the actors, the costumes make up, and set designs went above and beyond what was anticipated. You can tell this was a labor of love, and the entire staff treat it as such. Super friendly and outgoing. Once you come out of the haunt, they have a wide selection of t-shirts and other items. Heads up, they do not have concessions, so eat before you come. But they have clean restrooms and water fountains. (Beats using porta potties at other haunts) I will definitely be returning with more friends before the end of this season and intend on making this a must for yearly stops.

Charli B.

Yelp
So fucking cool. Honestly one of the best experiences I've been too. I'm not a person that's easily spooked, but it really didn't matter. The detail of every room and the actors was so meticulously done to perfection. The lights, sounds, scripts, timing was all so well done. My aunt said it was like 15 min and not worth $60, but she is very wrong. We were walking through for about 45 minutes, sometimes being in one room longer than others, cause there was a long line. Though that time was heavily appreciated because you got to look around more. Again, so fucking cool

Vanessa S.

Yelp
This is OK kinda expensive and had to drive out but I dk it's scary I screamed but I think it's just the price for me I expected more!!!! We went n ate after so Plano is always nice to go to !

Samara C.

Yelp
I can't believe the money I spent on this place! Almost 70 for one big attraction. the theming was all over the place, the characters outside were okay, I liked the tall black creature, he was my favorite. My least favorite had to be the pumpkin type character with that overwhelming scratchy voice. Yikes! How can she still talk after that? The inside was cool. I just wouldn't waste 70$ bucks on that. I liked the cemetery in the beginning and the actors were okay, some were annoying but some were good. Depends on how you feel.
google avatar

Seth W.

Yelp
Very good haunted house. Great characters and loud noises. Haunted house last a long time. Worth the wait and price.
google avatar

Anika K.

Yelp
The haunts, costumes, and props were amazing. You can tell they put a lot of attention to detail. It would have been a 5 star amazing experience if we didn't run into one of their employees who appeared to be wearing an Aladdin costume, claimed to be dressed as a "Mexican" (because that's just hilarious), and was literally wearing blackface. Left a nasty, racist taste in my mouth. Unacceptable. They need to do better.

Jackie C.

Yelp
These people are racist, I came here last year waited in the long line for 3 hours while waiting their was a group ahead of mine that were super intoxicated/popping pills while drinking. That group kept bumping into my minor sister we told them to be careful since they kept backing into us. The guy got mad and went off on us I got an employee who worked there to try to help us with the problem, the employee that worked there decides to yell at us and complain that we were too close to that group! He then got a officer involved and told him we were causing problems with the other group when we never did. The officer did not believe the employee as I told him what was happening, he moved us to the front of the line (& the group starting problems) told that group to throw away the alcohol they had since it was prohibited. I'm a young Hispanic woman who was harassed with a minor by a group of Caucasian people. I will not be returning here ever again !!!!DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!!

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Wonderful haunted house that has raised prices to insane levels $70... wait let me say that again $70 DOLLARS for one person to go through. I typically bring a group of 65-80 high schoolers each year and the *discounted* rate was still well over $50 a person so almost $4,000 for our group. Yeah hard pass on that. Three years ago they charged $28 per kid. Then covid, Now this? Crazy.

Marianne C.

Yelp
Dark Haunted House has now been open for years and this is the only time we manage to visit. It was the perfect time because they are doing Krampus theme and he is my ultimate folklore character ever. I love the costumes and their production. You get free entertainment while waiting in line and that's a plus because they always get long lines and wait. Another plus is the inside line and not out in the cold or heat like other haunted house around. Will definitely check out their other theme for different season and can't wait to check them out again during Halloween, I've heard so much greatness about it.
