Darling

Darling is the perfect Minneapolis brunch spot. What a great find❗The atmosphere is lovely, but the menu is the real star. It’s rare to find a place where the vegan dishes feel just as curated as the rest of the menu. Pair your meal with one of their Bloody Marys; you won't regret it!"

It's an all-around charming place for breakfast. They seemed a little short-staffed, but our server was good. My friend had the corned beef hash, and I had the falafel. The falafel was delicious, with a tzatziki that was really great. I got the fries on the side, which were crisp and tasty. Happily, they had decaf already brewed. Outdoor seating would have been perfect except for some friendly wasps. We opted for an indoor table. Would love to come back here for dinner sometime.

We got the breakfast burrito and the heirloom BLT. Both tasted fresh and were portioned well. The burrito’s aji verde sauce was a standout, adding a great pop of flavor. I intend to return here next time I’m in the area.

Had a late lunch at Darling this afternoon with the gals - neat lil place. People came to sit and do work; I saw couple of people playing cards; there was a larger group there as well. You can seat yourself and orders can be taken at the front. You can also sit at the counter. I got the Corned beef hash with a side of fries. The entree had a bit of a kick to it which paired with the flavors, I really enjoyed it! Whatever seasoning the fries are tossed in 🤌 the vanilla steamer also had the perfect amount of sweetness. I would love to be back to try other dishes!

I’ve been meaning to try Darling since it opened, and I finally stopped by for brunch this past weekend with my mom. It was thoroughly pleasant experience, but with steep prices and small(ish) portions, I can’t say it will enter my brunch rotation. I ordered a refreshing and creamy mango concoction. I really enjoyed it, but I think it would’ve been even better with tapioca pearls or mango jellies. My mom and I split the avocado toast. The bread was so fresh and might’ve been made in house, but I can’t say for sure. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and I loved the crunch of the seeds that garnished it. My main dish was a mushroom tartine with fries, and I loved everything about it. I just wish it were slightly bigger. Thicker bread might have helped. The fries were perfect, and the ketchup tasted house made. My mom ordered the corned beef hash, and she loved the spice level and the roasted veggies. She’s used to a shredded hash, so this was different, but she still enjoyed the meat preparation. Darling is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for slightly pricier brunch with fresh, intentional dishes. The dining area is bright and charming. It’s nice to have a cute spot like this in the neighborhood.

Found this place by searching breakfast places in Minneapolis and it turned out to be amazing! It's fairly new but they definitely know what they're doing. The pastries were outstanding and the breakfast was delicious. Coffee drinks were on point as well. The service went beyond expectations. Friendly staff and the owner herself picked up our dishes and was so welcoming. We will definitely be back!

We ordered a Dutch Baby and a Waffle with a Coffee and a Bloody Mary. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Everything from the cooking to the plating was done with care and precision. We will definitely be coming back to try some more dishes!

Good neighborhood diner... Sunday night, not busy... Free street parking... Clean restaurant, tasty food, quick and attentive service.... We'll be back...

Decent food, relaxing atmosphere. Service is a bit lackadaisical. Place is brightly lit and decor is a bit sparse. The menu is light on breakfast fare, but it's well prepared. I've been there twice and had the trout scramble both times. Could have been a bigger portion. Potatoes were lukewarm. You're on your own for amenities like a glass of water. There's a spout and glasses near the entrance. Coffee refills are slow. The two women working counter and tables seemed equally interested in the customers and their phones. We go there when our usual haunt, Standish Cafe, is closed a couple times a year. I'd go to Darling again but it isn't my first choice.

This is an incredible breakfast spot! It's located in the old Birchwood Cafe location. Lots of space to sit inside, and it's order at the counter service. I ordered the trout scramble ad thought it was amazing. The Potato's were especially delicious. Crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle. The sauce that accompanied it was a mustard aioli; I'm not typically a mustard fan but this feint and I couldn't get enough. We'll be coming back!

Order at the counter. Grab your number, silver ware, water, and then grab a table. Good food.

There were many things I liked about this place and a few things I didn't. I thought the exterior of the building was less than standard, but the inside is spacious and has a bit of a higher end feel. It's certainly a positive how the inside feels, but the outside and inside really clash. They need to find a way to spruce up the outside of the building. The corned beef hash was decent. I thought it was a plus that they added Brussel sprouts and asparagus and a tasty spicy sauce to the dish (think spicy buffalo sauce on chicken wings). Although the corned beef was a bit tough, even cut into very small pieces to help compensate for that. I prefer tender, juicy and larger pieces of corned beef in my corned beef hash. Owner: the secret is in how long you cook the corned beef, low and slow. The staff were friendly, but I find it odd that in a restaurant that looks higher end on the inside, there isn't wait staff. Rather you order at the counter like at a McDonald's. Again I think that is a bit of a clash. The prices were slightly higher than I would have liked to see, but I've seen higher for similar quality food, so I can't complain too much there. I would go back, but it wont' be a place I'll frequent often. Maybe a few times a year type of a rating if that helps. I'll be curious as to what some of the other menu items taste like.

Great food, great service, in the neighborhood. What's not to love? My partner and I grabbed breakfast on a Friday and had a wonderful meal. Looking forward to going back!

Both the food and service-fabulous! We tried the mushroom "crab cakes" served w greens and pickled onion. Off to a great start: hot (temp), crunchy, tangy, fresh herby tartar sauce. Then, gnocchi, probably the best dish I've ordered out in forever. I added chicken, my son bacon and both were excellent. We followed with key lime pie and a chocolate croissant. I would return for just one of any of the above. Favorite part of our meal was being able to converse easily with a full dining room and fun 80's background music playing. That and paying via a QR code so we could scoot at our leisure. Overall, well-played, Darling!

The old Birchwood cafe location has a new cafe! Meet Darling, the vibe is very similar to birchwood. The menu is good. The baked items looked fresh. The sea salt caramel late is divine! The customer service is really good. Get there soon while the word hasn't gotten out yet. I have a feeling this is going to be a neighborhood gem!

So Darling occupies the former BWood space which was a favorite place for a long time before the implosion. What you need to know is that Darling is...awesome! We are here right now for Sat lunch and I will say I am add it to the restaurant rotation no doubt. We ordered some basics out of new restaurant caution but every element was expertly prepared- loved it! Plus the Darling team is friendly, welcoming and professional which goes a long way with me.

Happened upon Darling while looking for a coffee shop. Decided to do breakfast and glad I did. Service was friendly and attentive, the food was tasty and the vibe was positive.

Inviting and chill. Trout scramble was amazing! Corned Beef hash was almost there: tons of fresh veggies, crispy potatoes. Some of the beef was tough and the poached egg was overcooked. I chalk it up to working out the kinks of a new place with new staff learning the art of the menu. So happy to have a nice breakfast place that isn't the same old same old over South.

The service was great, Ambiance is simple and nice. The flavor of the food was very good, refined and yet appealingly down to earth. I was a little perplexed by the texture of the omelette in that the egg was thicker than I've had at other places. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. We will definitely return.

I was impressed with this place. I used to go to Birchwood somewhat regularly, and I would say this place seems to just as good, if not better than its predecessor.

Not the Birchwood in all the best ways! Soft opening, like someone else said, get there now. Food well prepared and delicious. Understand all eggs are from the chickens out back - can't get anymore local than that. Our table had smoked trout and cream cheese, generous with the trout, subbed greens for the potatoes and asked for the eggs dry vs the soft scramble - they were perfect; table-mate had a breakfast burrito - she was happy with the deep flavors. Blueberry muffin was tender and flavorful, baked goods all looked delicious and decadent including the Key Lime pie and one other priced at $7. Stand out though was staffing; attentive, observant and there when you needed them. Only open 2 weeks and even one familiar with openings would be impressed with how this new favorite is coming together. Took a minute to congratulate and thank the MOD, Maddie, and understand they will have a liquor license and will go to 7 days once that license comes in, hopefully in July. Predict this will become a neighborhood and beyond favorite restaurant. I look forward to a glass of wine and visiting with friends in the evening at this beautiful, friendly little respite spot. Kudos to their team and welcome to the neighborhood; you were worth the wait.
