I’ve been meaning to try Darling since it opened, and I finally stopped by for brunch this past weekend with my mom. It was thoroughly pleasant experience, but with steep prices and small(ish) portions, I can’t say it will enter my brunch rotation.
I ordered a refreshing and creamy mango concoction. I really enjoyed it, but I think it would’ve been even better with tapioca pearls or mango jellies.
My mom and I split the avocado toast. The bread was so fresh and might’ve been made in house, but I can’t say for sure. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and I loved the crunch of the seeds that garnished it.
My main dish was a mushroom tartine with fries, and I loved everything about it. I just wish it were slightly bigger. Thicker bread might have helped. The fries were perfect, and the ketchup tasted house made.
My mom ordered the corned beef hash, and she loved the spice level and the roasted veggies. She’s used to a shredded hash, so this was different, but she still enjoyed the meat preparation.
Darling is a great spot to check out if you’re looking for slightly pricier brunch with fresh, intentional dishes. The dining area is bright and charming. It’s nice to have a cute spot like this in the neighborhood.
