Darna is more than just a hookah lounge — it feels more like a bar or club once you step inside. The vibe is energetic, especially when the music turns on, and it’s definitely more of a party atmosphere than a laid-back hookah spot. The hookah itself was good, with nice flavor and a smooth experience, and the pricing is moderate, which makes it accessible for a night out. They also host themed nights like Latin night and Arabic night, which is great if you’re looking to dance and enjoy a lively scene. One downside was that they didn’t offer tea, which is something many hookah lounges typically provide, so that was a bit disappointing. Also, once the music gets loud, it becomes very difficult to have a conversation.

Good venue for EDM with very good sound system and DJ setup. LED backdrop which makes it pretty awesome if you want to throw a good party.

Come here if u want the worst DJ's, who have no idea how to beat match and don't know how to get people to dance especially this guy. As a person of color I apologize for this fool

Went for a fun Thursday night, they played a lot of great songs. Modern and old reggaeton from the early 2000’s, as well as bachata, some salsa and merengue. it’s a Spanish night on Thursday’s. Very cute waitresses and excellent service. The bar area is very crowded and takes time to get drinks from the bar but most DC and Arlington bars are like that anyways. We didn’t eat so I’m not sure about the food. Had a great time overall 🙌🏼

Nice Vibes here - Hidden Gem. Limited in parking. Friendly and professional, but forgetful servicer. The drinks, & hookah -- great variety/ample choices. Food was okay. Ambiance hits all the marks.

I had a very disappointing experience here. The service was extremely slow, and it felt like our table was forgotten multiple times. The hookah quality was poor — harsh smoke and the flavor barely lasted 20 minutes. Food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it was cold and bland. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. The atmosphere could be nice, but the loud, chaotic environment made it hard to enjoy our time. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back and can’t recommend it to others.

My partner and I came during happy hour and ordered a couple of rounds of their appetizers + a cocktail. The food was average and our server didn't really check in on us in a timely manner. We were able to get waters but server never refilled it, just came by to take orders. We were the only table outside on the patio/rooftop. We automatically got charged a 20% gratuity on our bill which we felt was unjustified because we were only a party of 2, ordering appetizers during happy hour and sitting in a couch+coffee table setting (not like the typical table service). We will not be back.

I came to this place with 2 friends . We were the only Black people there on a Tuesday night (lastnight June 11th) but we did not let that stop us from trying to have a good time . The Server was rude from the beginning. She needed my id and debit card to get a drink . I've never been anywhere that required an id . She made it a problem when we inquired about it and got very rude with us and walked away in the middle of us talking . It then became a big argument. Upon talking to a few people I heard this place is racist . Do not give your Money to them and there over priced drinks. This place needs to be shut down

So if don't know..Darna has brunch on the weekends (I was very surprised to find this out) with a bottomless option! I'm not going to lie, it was a little weird sitting in somewhat empty lounge having brunch. While there were a couple people there casually smoking hookah and noon, we were the only ones there for brunch. The brunch comes as three courses and includes American and Lebanese-inspired food. Cons: - While it's supposed to be three courses, they brought everything out at once (see photos), so our food wasn't hot. Some of the dishes must've been sitting out while they prepared the rest of dishes. - Although there was no one near us and the place was practically empty, one of the servers informed us that we couldn't combine two small (and I mean smalll) tables so we could have some space to eat our food. All our food and drinks were moved to one small table for four people, making the eating arrangement uncomfortable and crowded (again, even though there was NO ONE sitting at any of the three tables to our left or right). - The food was just alright, I'd give it 3/5. The starters included different types of dips and flatbread. Both were tasty but nothing memorable. Some the sliders were hits and some were misses. My favorite was the falafel slider and the fried chicken was on the drier side so it my least favorite. I wasn't a fan of the third course in general. For the chicken and waffles, the chicken is mixed in with the batter rather than it being on top. The execution missed the mark. The waffle was thick and on the drier side. The same goes for chicken pieces that we couldn't even taste, it just tasted like mush. No amount of syrup could salvage the taste or texture. Pros: - While the food is bite-size, it's plenty so you'll leave you full and satisfied.

The club was going up on a Tuesday - I have never seen so many people having fun next door to a Jiffy Lube and across the street from a gas station in my life. Somehow, from that set of auto maintenance-relates surroundings in a suburban neighborhood in Northern Virgina, is an upscale nightclub that would not be out of place in any party capital. Late night food, hookah and bottle service are the keys, with a top notch sound system and lighting that's hard to capture in a photo, but definitely sets a party mood. I'm not sure how this is during the day, but don't laugh out of hand when your friend pulls into the oil-change spot on a Tuesday night - they might have a secret in store.

It was my 1st time there, and my last. The place seemed nice but let me tell you, the security/bouncers are a wreck, one of them especially. Pushing and shoving and pushing women for no reason. Not to mention the threats by one of security guys. Very unprofessional. Did not feel safe with that type of security walking around.Very unlikely I will be letting people know about this place. Establishment seems cool but security is way over their heads.

This place is as awful as the other reviewers say. Expect a fake Miami club vibe with overpriced everything and low quality hookah. We came here on a whim and bought a table so we weren't squeezed in between drunk college kids. Even then the service was subpar. Do not recommend coming here if you're older than 25. That said, the people watching is pretty hilarious and the DJ was decent.

Baby listen! I've been to brunch all over the country and this was by far one of the worst. Upon arriving we had a party of 3. We wanted to sit outside, they sat us at a table to two and pulled up a stool for the 3rd person. WTF!!! How is this even acceptable? I complained, this seat doesn't even have a back on it. The waitress was rude, she said if you don't like it you can move inside. Customer service was terrible!! They one have 1 brunch option which is more of family style that everyone in the party is required to get, if you don't no one can eat. Most of which we didn't even like. It seemed to be a consensus within the restaurant because everyone seemed to be complaining about the same thing. We moved inside because it was extremely hot. They once again sat us at a 2 seater, basically you have to make it work. We were sitting on top of the couch for about an hour after purchasing several drinks, a man who I can only assume was the owner came out as asked us to get down. If there was enough room and we weren't on top of each other I would have to sit on top of the couch. The food was mediocre, drinks were good, but this is definitely a place I will never return to. I don't suggest u do either.

I went with a few friends on 11/23/21 (a random Tuesday night) and the place was mostly empty however the music was insanely loud. I couldn't even hear anything my friend was saying and she was right next to me. I can see this place been a great place to come on the weekend but for a Tuesday night at 11 pm with less 50 people, the DJ was not matching the vibe of the night. Everyone was sitting in silence smoking hookah because it was just too loud to do anything else. If they would have turned it down just a bit it would've been a much more enjoyable experience. Id probably try and come back on a weekend before making a final judgment.

only reason why I gave it an extra star is because of 1 bartender.... I get it's COVID however customer service is always a must. My girlfriends and I were greeted with a hand to our face from one of the bartenders (Kenda) and she shoo'd us outside after she found out we weren't prepared to spend a $300 minimum on a random Wednesday night. She didn't even let us walk inside! Another bartender, Irena was like...so amazingly sweet. Thank you for trying Irena. you are so appreciated! The customer service from the other bartender Kenda, in fishnets, was so bad that my girls and I were trying to figure out if this young lady knew us, and had a personal grudge. (but it's highly unlikely. she probably just needs and attitude adjustment.) it's really sad when you go out for a night of fun and end up greeted by someone so nasty and who pointlessly ruins the vibe. now especially, we need kindness and love. ...this was unfortunately not the intent of Kenda at Darna, this night. Not sure if you are upset, or facing an extreme life situation that would yield such intentionally horrid, disgusting behavior, but, know that my friends and I are all going to send up a nice prayer for you. UPDATE once we didn't want to spend the $300 minimum we asked if we could get a drink at the bar opposed to sotting outside in the cold with no music , they said due to covid we could stand at the bar , however I guess it's only for certain people ... discrimination....

I just can't give this place good stars. It had so much potential when I sat down. The two stars are (1) for the interior decor and (2) the falafel wrap. I docked three stars because (1) the hypersexualization of women for money, (2) the supervisor going from table to table asking people who were having a grand ole time "How long do you plan to be here?", and (3) the cost. --- So, first thing you'll notice is that the inside is beautiful, it really is. Second thing you'll notice is the female employees walking around with deep wedgies and thigh high boots. I mean, what they wore seemed more like what bottle girls at strip clubs wear rather than people who are serving food. I don't want to see your butt cheeks flopping after I've asked for napkins and ketchup. It's so unsettling because the men wear black shirts and floor length jeans, but the women are wearing red underwear and bra, sometimes having to cover their chest with their arms as they are interacting with more modest customers that clearly are uncomfortable by the outfits (husband & wife, for example). It's very weird watching customer after customer be uncomfortable with n*pples poking through the top, cell phones tucked into the wedgie bottoms.... and I refuse to give my money to an establishment that exploits the sexualization of women for money. I won't give my money here any more. Second, we were just chilling and what seemed to be the manager went to the table next to us that had three women and after talking for a few seconds, the women seemed unsettled. When he stepped away to head towards us, the three women all looked at each other with big eyes. Then he came to us, sat next to me (a woman) and proceeded to ask us "Do you two think you'll be here all night or how long do you plan on being here?" We looked at each other. I'm 26 years old and never, ever, ever has an establishment that I'm actively spending money at asked me a question like this. I hadn't finished my drink and my friend was still smoking hookah, and wasn't sure what to say so I said, "I guess about 45 minutes." He proceeded to touch my shoulder multiple times as he explained that he wanted to put it in the system *touch* for the hostess *touch* so she knew not to sit someone at our table *touch*. You don't have to touch me with your hands as you say this. As a matter of fact, don't touch me at all. Lastly, I had two drinks (sumac'm) and one falafel wrap and the cost, with gratuity, was $50. My friend likes this place, but due to the employees, I will not be back.

This place is trash horrible! Stay away . I went there with my friend but as a gay guy I had my big Gucci bay they said I can't get in because the bag wag big lol! What ? This was unbelievable.

Darna is a great nightclub that has good vibes - a lot of lights, good loud music, and happy staff. The music is a mixture of genres like hip-hop, Latin, and dancehall. The early hours are laid back, but late at night it can get busier. Drinks are made well, there's delicious food available at all hours, and the hookah here is great quality. Speaking of food, I highly recommend the chicken shawarma. It's a large meal with tender grilled chicken, crispy vegetables, delicious yogurt sauce. Additionally, the staff here are very attentive and helpful with all requests. I highly recommend this spot if your looking for a chil night with hookah, drinks and tasty food.

Omg where do I start? On Saturday night 6/19/22, my friends and I (early to mid 20s) were so grossed out by the old (late 30s to 50s) *predatory* men there. If you're a woman & want to have fun and feel safe DON'T GO HERE!! They circle you and try to grab you and stuff. The old & younger guys were being sooo creepy, they wouldn't take no for an answer, and men would get belligerent and rude when we told them we didn't want to dance or talk to them. They would find women who were clearly incapacitated and drunk and try to grind on them. It was CREEPY!!! I made sure my drink was always in hand (if you know what I mean!) Not just a couple one offs either, These were multiple guys in sections and the *dozens* of guys who were "just walking by" but tried to like slide past with their hips thrusted out, or touch your waist too long -_- We literally had to ask the one decent guy there for protection because Security was *nowhere* to be found. It was SO uncomfortable that I backed myself into a corner just so men wouldn't try to grind their cr*tch up against me without my consent even AFTER they were told NO. People were SLOPPY drunk, I don't think the bartenders care that they're clearly over serving people (which feels like a l*wsuit waiting to happen.) Trust the other reviews here and go somewhere else in DC!

Came here in on a Sunday rona season it was cool I feel like it will get lit after Rona . Food was good but hookah girl/waiter attitude. Came back a week ago and it was lit and waiter was a1 !! Just depends on the waitress/bartender I guess lol

I was hanging with some black brothers on Saturday night (06/13/20) and we couldn't walk in because of the dress code. Dress code wouldn't be a problem unless we saw some white folks walking in with the same Jordan shoes/ shorts/ hoodies we had and that they were the reason why we couldn't walk in. We have been told by the door guy that the owner was telling him who let in and who don't. Earlier today (06/16/20) I found the Instagram page of Darna Lounge and I commented the last picture with basically the same things I wrote so far but it was deleted a few minutes later. Then the page texted me, trying to explain the situation. We were texting each other for some minutes then I asked if instead I could call them on Instagram later because I had to work, the answer was "sure". Later I tried at least four times in two different moments of the day but no one hung up. I texted them again telling them to answer but the replied was "I'm busy". I just want to say that I understand the dress code a lounge can have on Saturday nights, as I said that wasn't the problem. I was with black people and I'm honest our clothes definitely couldn't go through that dress code, but then we saw white people walking in, with the same clothes we had. The next thing I know is a black friend saying "I'm tired of this s*it".

I went to Darna the other day for drinks and food so I can't speak to their Hookah. I think for food and drinks there are better options nearby that are worth trying, but Darna has some work to do to match up. I went on a Monday night and there were maybe two or three other sets of people so not busy. You would have thought they were packed by how slow the service was. Our server didn't take the time to walk us through the menu. There wasn't a variety of drink specials and the special cocktails were pretty expensive so we chose a simple prosecco. For food we tried the lamb kalaya, but when it arrived at our table there wasn't any lamb in the dish. Next we tried the kafta kabob. The portion was small, yet flavorful. The hummus and pita bread. It was average, but lacked any surprising flavors. It was a basic hummus that I could have bought at the grocery store. I don't know if I'll be back to Darna. The food wasn't that great, the service was nice, but slow, and I wish the outside patio space was in use. The interior was dark and the decor looked inexpensive.

This is a hookah place and I don't do hookah, so I can't comment on that. However, they do have food specials for happy hour which were pretty good. I got the chicken shawarma for $5 and hummus for $3. The chicken shawarma included 3 shawarma taco things and French fries. It was tasty and definitely had that unique middle eastern flavor sauce and seasoning in it. The hummus was also very good. They have booths and tables, but they are apparently doing renovations on the lounge upstairs. It was very comfortable and certainly good for big groups. It could have been a little brighter in there, but I'm just nitpicking. Service was excellent. The waitress consistently refilled my water, checked back on us frequently, and was very polite. The manager also came over to introduce himself and make sure everything was up to par. You could definitely tell that they care about their customers.

Moe and Irena are the best. Top flight service, totally accommodating. Definitely the best happy hour in town!

The worst costumer service ever, went there on Monday night and the place was empty only 2 tables and have to wave to our server for about 20 minuets to take our orders without any attention as she was busy smoking hookah and on her phone. Gratuity is already added and I think that the main reason for the staff to not pay attentions to the table as they making their money anyway! Over rated!

I've only ever been to Darna on random days during the week after work (7-9ish). I am not sure if this is an all the time thing, but they close the outside area promptly at 9PM. I always do a mint-combo hookah with my friend and a Cabernet. All of the staff are pretty attentive and friendly, they are always walking around with hot coals to refresh your hookah to keep it pulling perfectly. Outside furniture is pretty dated and dingy. I think that would be the only complaint I'd have. Another good tip for the staff would be to relocate the cushions inside when heavy rain (or any precipitation for that matter) is in the forecast. The shish taouk (chicken breast, mixed veggies, garlic paste all wrapped in pita bread) is really good, and was half off (not sure if this was for happy hour - originally $22.00, but I paid $11.00). Super filling, flavorful and was served with a generous side portion of fries. All in all, Darna is a solid place for chill hookah, good vibes and a quick meal. I am curious to re-visit during peak nightlife hours this summer.

Went for a new Latin night on Thursdays. The space is nice enough, as long as the dance floor doesn't get crowded. Opened a tab and had a couple of margaritas. They weren't super. My friend said they used cheap alcohol. But when I asked to close my tab, the waitress returned with just a receipt. No credit card, and no copy for me to sign. What?? So I had to chase her down and ask for my card. She brought it, and guess what? Gratuity was already included. Of course it was. The other reason I'm only giving 3 stars is the smoke. Yes, it's a hookah bar, but the amount of cigarette smoking in there was on a different level. I actually felt sick and my lungs are hurting now. So if you like not so stellar service and lots of smoke, this is the place for you. I won't be returning.

I have passed by at night and it seems like this is the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. I went by in the evening around 5:30 to check out happy hour. There were not many people there. They have hookah, food and drink specials from 5-7. I got 6 wings ($4) and potatoes ($4). My friend got the chicken shawarma ($7) which came with Fries. Everything was tasty with good portions. I got the happy hour drink with elderflower in it, very good. I sat on the outdoor balcony & eventually people started to come by the time I left at about 7:30 or so. Service was fast and our waitress was attentive & friendly. The inside is beautiful so I will check out this spot later on at night too!

I came here tonight with a few friends and the lounge was okay. Extremely overcrowded and tough to find a spot inside. The staff was rude so I most likely will not be back.

Going to have to change my mind on this place . Gone a few times and gotten bottle service etc . Came by on a date and was wearing a hoodie . They told they don't allow hoodies and wouldn't let me in. Fair enough . I removed the hoodie and had on a black tshirt . They then told me no you needed a sports coat . Ok I get it no problem . You want a certain look .. well wouldn't you know I'm walking away and four guys come up and two are wearing hoodies . They let them walk right in . If you are going to enforce a look do it for everyone . Business 101 make it the same and now I leave with a bad taste in my mouth . Won't go back with my group of friends ...

Ordered lamb shish kabob via take-out. Two skewers of grilled meat with accompanying greens. Was a tasty treat at a reasonable price that I will order again. I picked up order early in evening before night club action had really gotten fully underway. Waitresses were friendly and helpful.

What happens at Darna doesn't necessarily always stay at Darna I love this lounge, it's filled with so much excitement, great music and friendly staff. I've been a fan of Darna for months now and can confidently say that their customer service surpasses any other Hookah lounge in the a Northern Virginia area. The only downside to Darna is their limited seating inside. This isn't necessarily their fault because it's so popular people make reservations days before. However, every time I've visited this place, they've managed to accomodate and sit us inside. I also have to admit that unfortunately their drinks are very weak. Thursday's nights is geared towards the Arab/Middle Eastern crowd with a live band. Fun night if you're into the music and crowd. Friday night and Saturday nights have been my favorite because they're geared more towards and international crowd. The DJs they bring in are pretty awesome but DJ Heat is my FAVORITE! The dance floor never clears when he's on stage. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend this lounge to anyone and have introduced many of my friends to this place One last thing, I say "what happens at Darna doesn't stay at Darna" because they do take photos and post them on their website and roll a slide show of their photos on their TVs at night. Don't do something you wouldn't want your girl or guy to find out about

Quick Facts: This place is serious about the dress code. We watched several gentleman get turned away for wearing jeans and sneakers. Even expensive sneakers. Like hundreds of dollars sneakers. Didn't matter. This place is small. When it gets too packed they do a one in one out type of thing that means that your party might get split up. You have to wait for people to leave so that you can go in if it's after 1 AM. There was never a line for the women's bathroom. There was always a line for the men's bathroom. That just tells you a little bit about the make up of the party. We were about a one woman short of a sausage fest.

I'm giving this place 4 stars just off of the atmosphere and the service.....oh also the waitress who was fineeee and we had on the same top! #FashionNova. Anyway, this place gives me Miami vibes. The blue lighting and the waterfall is so sexy. You know what's not sexy!? A $15 watered down Hennessy. I was so mad. I had water the rest of the night lol. The DJ was just ok. I like variety and he kept playing the same genre of music. Overall, it's a really chill discreet spot(except if you're an athlete lol). I'll be back with my girls.

The people there asked for $20 to park the car in front of the place, then they asked for dress code, while I have been there few times before and no one asked for it. The people not professional and need a lot of time to learn how to respect the costumers. NOT RECOMMENDED PLACE.

Don't ask them for tap water. They'll deny you, say that they only have bottle for $7. Nevermind that they're a fully functioning bar serving customers alcohol. Talk about a venue that considers customer safety.

Alright, Darna is definitely more of a club than a restaurant and you don't go there for the stellar customer service. You go for the drinks, the well-priced food and the hookah. Darna's happy hour is actually great, with many $5 drinks and good-sized apps ranging from $3 - $10. You can totally make a meal out of the happy hour selection and save a lot of money. The hummus and feta potatoes are delicious and the pizza is surprisingly good! Make sure you sit on the balcony as the inside is a bit dingy when the sun is up.

Went here last night with my girlfriends for mommy night out and it was sooo much fun. We went for throwback Thursday so it was chill, played excellent 80s and 90s songs and we felt like valued customers. Our host was Jessica and she's fantastic. She checked on us multiple times throughout our stay there. Our hookah was brought out in like 5 mins, they consistently changed the coal, made sure our sitting area was clean and asked us if we needed anything. She also gave us great drink recommendations. Jessica is what really made our time there hospitable. My friends and I are Mom's and we just wanted a fun night out to talk and dance without the feeling of being hounded by guys. This was delivered for us last night. We wanted to leave around 1am but we just danced the night away - sober - and stayed until they closed. We had such a blast and surprisingly, the customer service at this lounge was top notch. If you go here, request Jessica to host you and she'll take care of you! She deserves a raise and to be the lead trainer for hospitality.

Come here pretty often that I should give it a review. I've honestly never had a bad time at darna. Always have had fun, smooth hookah and drinks constantly flowing. Music most of the time is banging, but when the music is off...it's really off. The bad are bouncers. Most of the time they're dicks, I've seen people get in wearing trash and others getting denied wearing decent clothes. Could be racial profiling? Who knows.

This place is a rip off. First they charge $20 to park in their empty lot. Then when I go up stairs they say Friday and Saturday is like a club so it's $250 for a table. I come back down after my 4min excursion to find the over priced tables. Never go here

Not a fan of this place. Went just to stand in line while the bouncers picked and let select people enter. Unless you are a beautiful woman in her 20's with long black hair, heels and a tight black dress you're not getting in that easy. Once inside, the place is nice and the DJ is pretty good with his mix but service is a problem. Unless you got the description above you'll be waiting for a drink or any service for that matter. Pro tip: go dressed like one of the jersey shore cast members to have a good time.

Horrible service. Felt unwelcome from time I walked in and my group of 5 friends were told there would be a $400 minimum on Sunday at 8pm, to the point where we went to the bar and were told we could order a hookah and smoke in a corner on a ledge with no seats. Pretty much treated like stray dogs...because we clearly saw several open areas and then to the point when we were seated but were asked "how long we would be here" by a server with a nasty attitude who then followed up asking "are you going to stand on the seats?" And said we needed to leave by 10. Finally, after 90 minutes of being here, (bc some of the group wanted to stay) no server EVER came back to check on us, take orders, refill water NOTHING. But walked past and checked on every table around us. Won't be back. Not an establishment that deserves my money. After speaking with management about the experience, our hookah was comped but what kind of service is this?

Would I visit Darna again? Maybe. Their hookah was very good quality and they have a lot of seating with appealing decor. A friend and I walked in on a Tuesday evening, it was pretty empty. I do like that they have outside seating, perfect for smoking hookah on a beautiful day. We were seated and got menus. It took quite some time before the server came back to take our order. And then even longer for the order to come. Service is pretty slow, but i couldn't figure out why. Why the 2 stars? There were floating particles in my water and they automatically add gratuity to the bill.

Ive been thinking about this for weeks and decided i had to write my first ever review. The place has a table minimum, but my server (I asked the manager and she said with an attitude that the server was Leslie) never showed up to take any orders so I got stuck paying a penalty. I looked for her all night and she didn't care. She even starts walking away while I'm still giving the order. I don't know what's her rush but it's not to help me. She figured out how to do no work and just charge me the minimum. When the bill came I asked the bartender for the manager. I couldn't find Leslie as per usual. The bartender got insulted I think bcuz she yelled that she is the manager!!! (how am I supposed to know?) and said she already knew about my complaint and had also already decided I was wrong. I was really wishing this place was better. I heard so much about it. I wanted to go on new years but i can't afford to give away money for nothing because the server is lazy.
