"There are actually two Darwin’s locations (of four total) in this neck of the woods: One in the former Petsi Pies space on Putnam Avenue (which opened in 2019) and this location on Mount Auburn Street, meaning there’s twice the volume of sandwiches, breads, cookies, and other sundry snacks. Get a Walden on sourdough stacked high with thick mozzarella cheese slices and slathered in pesto. The Mt. Auburn location also offers retail wine, beer, and hard ciders, with monthly tasting events." - Dana Hatic
This place is great! A cute little shop and coffee and breakfast place all rolled into one. They had some awesome drink options including a great tea that we tried (in the picture). Darwin’s is also such a great atmosphere whether you’re there for a chill breakfast or to hang and study or even to have a drink with a friend. It’s got all you need rolled into one cute spot!

The Irving sandwich on a French baguette (see pic) is high recommended. Great space, music, coffee. However, the packaging of the sandwich we ordered was pretty greasy, which may not be always the case here, so you need to be careful about grabbing it or mixing it with other personal stuff.

You can have fresh sandwiches and nice coffee! Also, they are selling unique wine from all over the world!! Although it is not so spacious, the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable.

Best sandwich in Harvard Square.
Large portions.
Nice area for studying or having a chat. Music playing but not too loud.

Amazing marinated tempeh sandwich, delicious saltiness and freshness of the rest of the toppings to balance, great early morning day-starter. Quick order ahead and pickup process!

Wow - a special little coffee nook with an eclectic vibe. My Cappuccino was 😍- strong and delicious. The chocolate selection is fab and I found the 25 cent Reece’s jar to be quite clever. I have already recommended Darwin’s Ltd. to some friends here for the Harvard Business School Reunion. ☕️

Got the absolute worst sandwich here this morning. Ordered the mem drive (now Harvard) breakfast sandwich and it had no avocado on it, hard bread, hard egg, everything was dry and gross. So disappointed. Used to come here a lot for this sandwich but whoever made this at 10am on 9/2/18 needs to step things up. $13 for this sandwich was robbery.
They also didnt cut it in half--I just cut it myself.

Come for the sandwiches, but stay for the cookies!! We always lament Darwin's being so far away from our neck of the woods, but unlike other places that start out strong, Darwin's has not deteriorated in service or deliciousness. They also have a well curated collection of unusual wines. They offer delivery through a service and you can order ahead online. A small sit down area is available. Love this place!
