"The restaurant of the Papa Rhein lifestyle hotel combines a tasteful maritime vintage look with good, fresh cuisine, offering dishes such as cod in a potato crust with balsamic mixed vegetables and lentils and pesto. There is a wonderful view of the Rhine and the surrounding vineyards – in summer guests can enjoy sitting out on the delightful terrace!" - Michelin Inspector

Stunning location on the Alte Donau. This has become our favourite restaurant along the river, as they offer a great mix of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes. The staff are very kind, the dishes are served with care, and the flavours are good. The portions aren’t very large for the price, but I personally prefer quality over quantity.

Unfortunately, I left quite disappointed. I had been looking forward to visiting this place for a long time—it’s quite a journey from where we live, and my expectations were high. On a positive note, the ambience is lovely, both indoors and outside. The setting definitely sets the stage for a great experience. However, the food fell short. The fish and chips were probably the best dish we ordered, and even that was just average. The batter was thick and lacked the satisfying crispness that defines good fish and chips. The fries were quite greasy and underwhelming. The paella was especially disappointing—the rice was undercooked and there was no sign of the golden crust (socarrat) that gives this dish its character. The lamb skewers were tiny (individual pieces were like 1.5 cm cubes) —and unsurprisingly, the meat itself was dry. Service was slow, even though it was a quiet Monday evening, and overall, the prices felt unjustified given the quality of food and service. Sadly, despite the great atmosphere, we won’t be returning. 😔

We sat on the terrace — such a lovely spot by the water with a great vibe! Food was super tasty and everything was really nice. Service could’ve been a bit quicker at times, but we’d totally come back.

The best restaurant by the alte donau, after trying many places the last 12 years. They have a perfect eiskaffee, fish and chips, lemonades and many other menu options. I definitely recommend this place for a chill date, or bigger groups if you reserve.

It was supposed to be a lovely dinner by the water… I had been to this restaurant a couple of times in the past and found it decent, but unfortunately, this latest visit was a big disappointment — enough to make me reconsider coming again. We ordered a mix of their classic and signature dishes, including fried whitebait fish (which was a starter and, to be fair, arrived fairly quickly), fish & chips, and beef tartare. But the rest of the food took more than 1.5 hours to arrive, despite us reminding the waiter several times. We were dining with our baby, which made the long wait even more stressful and complicated. What was especially frustrating was that several tables who arrived after us were served their meals long before we got ours. The service felt disorganized and unprofessional — even if I understand it’s a busy place. In the end, we received an apology, but it didn’t really help, as we had to eat in a rush and leave quickly. All in all, not the kind of experience you expect when dining out, especially with a child. Sadly, this visit left us with little reason to return.

Terrible service – not worth it! We ordered Lammspieße and paella. The paella was okay, but the meat dish came completely cold. After waiting over 40 minutes for them to reheat it, it came back slightly warm but tough and without fries. We had already eaten the first portion of fries while waiting, and they didn’t bring more. We also asked for salt – never got it. Nice location, but the service was awful. Don’t go there to eat . If you want to enjoy the place, just grab a drink. This was honestly one of the worst restaurants we visited. Not recommended at all!!

Too expensive for the poor service. The place is amazing and the food is very good. However, the service was terrible. Waiters were so busy that they just couldn’t give a people service. Of course this is not THEIR fault, but the restaurant’s management, as they should hire more people, specially for high season. Despite the amount of people, the waiters were nice, but it was just impossible to track everything. The food took ages to come. At the end we ordered one bottle of water and after 25 mins it came, because we made 2 Reminders. Conclusion? The place is very cute and the food is good but for the price I paid, i was expecting excellent service, which for sure didn’t happen.

Fantastic area for this restaurant on the Danube Canal. Inside and outdoors. Both are wonderfully organised. Service is very friendly and food is delicious. The squids are really recommended, and as it says on the menu, they are crunchy and soft, no gummy feeling! The risotto with baked Ziegenkäse is delicious and creamy. The salad with peaches and nuts is a very original creation. Well done!

Yelp
The best thing about this restaurant is it's location, the floating terrace, and the cool interior with rowing skulls mounted on the ceiling. Very nice. As with many scenic spots, the food and service are not up to par with the setting. First the food...Meh. Chewy octopus, fried not sautéed, Calamari fried correctly but devoid of any flavor, the Fish & Chips were passable, but not worth a separate trip. The best items we ate were the exceptional fries, their truffle mayo and their lemon mayo. Drinks are expensive, but in line with other popular places. Finally, service. I had made online reservations a week early for a Saturday table. I followed up with a personal email requesting (if possible) a nice table to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived (to a half empty restaurant) I mentioned to a waiter who approached us that we had a reservation for 2. He didn't check any reservations list, just motioned us to a table in the main isle surrounded by two families with loud/noisy children. No offense for the kids, they are kids. The parents were, shall I say "laissez-faire", again not my business. That said, it is the business of the service staff. They all heard, saw, and even interacted with the children, with zero concern for the other guests. If someone had referenced our reservation request maybe it would have dawned on them that this location wasn't conducive to an anniversary dinner. In conclusion, on a warm evening sit on the terrace, enjoy a drink then go elsewhere for a nice meal.
