"The location on the 18th floor of lifestyle hotel SO/Vienna is undeniably spectacular – the view of Vienna is phenomenal! Add to that the attentive, laid-back service and cuisine that draws on modern influences. Great wine selection. There is also a popular cocktail bar." - Michelin Inspector

"As if floor-to-ceiling Inner City views from an 18th-floor space weren’t enough, the 21,500-square-foot illuminated ceiling by Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist will wow you at Das Loft restaurant. With strict historic preservation building codes long in place that dictated nothing be built higher than the city's iconic Stephansdom cathedral tower, Vienna was rather late to the game of splashy starchitect buildings. In 2010, however, Jean Nouvel’s Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom opened across the Danube Canal, an area that had been plagued by banal postwar stucco buildings. Now, guests at the hotel’s Das Loft penthouse and panoramic restaurant can not only enjoy beautiful urban vistas, but a popping cocktail scene and modern takes on Austrian dishes."

Came here on my birthday for the set meal by the window. View was amazing, started before sunset and after sunset it only got better! The food was outstanding quality from start to finish, I particularly enjoyed the steak! The service was incredible and they couldn't of been nicer! When making my reservation I had to give my date of birth, which they obviously read because to my surprise at the end of my meal they presented me with a little surprise birthday cake!

Google
My wife and I had a wonderful meal here with a truly amazing view and excellent service. Everything was spot on, which surprised us since in the United States most places with a view like this would not pay much attention to the quality of the food. Here it’s clearly different, they pay attention to everything. Highly recommended!

Google
Would have given 4.5 for the beautiful view and the ambience, but leaving a 3 star due to unexpected charge on the final bill, which was disappointing to see from a high-end restaurant. In addition to what I ordered, they brought me a sourdough bread with some spread initially, which I didn't ask for and since everyone was getting it, I thought it was complementary. They didn't tell me otherwise. I was surprised to see they added 7 euros for it on the final bill. When asked, the waiter just brushed it and said it is normal at their restaurant. I have never seen such a thing anywhere else. I feel they should have been upfront about it and not just force something upon their customer. Food tastes decent. Natalie at the reception was very helpful in accommodating a last minute reservation and has wonderful manners.

Wow... amazing restaurant, one of the most beautiful I have ever been to. The food is something hard to describe, the taste is amazing. The staff are extremely nice and attentive to your needs. This restaurant is definitely a must when you visit Vienna, the view is fabulous❤️

Great atmosphere, amazing view, very special and tasty food! I would give 5 stars but the service is not at a very high level. However we would love to visit there again

We went to Das LOFT for a birthday breakfast, as it is a remarkable place to celebrate special occasions. The reservation was a bit of a hazzle and it is not detailed on the website that external guests may only book slots for 7:00/7:30 or 9:30 - changing a reservation took about 4 days. But in the end it all worked out fine and we even got a table at the huge panorama windows. View/atmosphere - amazing! Panorama view of Vienna from all around the restaurant. Breakfast- buffet and á la carte. Whatever ur heart wishes for including Austrian specialties like a Leberkaes hot station. Buffet selection is huge and also the á la carte options are excellent. Staff- very friendly and welcoming. As a kind gesture from the restaurant, we also got a piece of birthday cake, which was a scrumptious, fluffy Sachertorte. All in all, a fantastic experience and well worth the 42 Euros. Absolute recommendation and will for sure go there again.

The views are spectacular! One of a kind experience indeed. The service was excellent, staff extremely attentive and polite. We went there for a birthday dinner and it was worth it. Of course it is expensive, we were not really impressed with the food. It was good but we were not blown away. If the cost is not an issue, definitely worth a visit!

Google
I actually spotted this place while walking around and noticed they had an amazing rooftop—so I decided to come back that night, and it ended up being one of the best decisions of my whole trip. The view is incredible—you can see almost all of Vienna from up there, especially the Cathedral. They play great techno and house music, and the vibe is perfect for a small group hangout or even meeting new people. Drinks are New York-priced at around €18, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, especially their purified cocktails. I tried both the strawberry yogurt and dragon fruit drinks—both were really good, though definitely on the sweeter side if that matters to you. If you’re looking to impress a date, this is 100% the spot.

Yelp
I happened to be staying at SO/ Vienna and stopped by to check out their top floor restaurant. Little did I know about the amazing view here at Das Loft! It offered panoramic views of the city, and the view was even more stunning during sunset. I had the chocolate brownie, which was more like a fancy chocolate cake -- very rich and decadent. For drinks, I tried the Noelle (Dewar's 12Y infused with tonka beans, cacao white, gingerbread, orange, and lemon, topped with honey espuma/foam) -- it was like sipping a yummy dessert. Tonka beans are not available in the U.S., so I had to try this drink. The Triple Berry (sparkling water with strawberry, wild berry, raspberry, passion fruit, and vanilla) was also refreshing for summertime. I only came here for dessert and drinks, but others have came for breakfast and dinner and enjoyed the food as well. A restaurant with amazing views and good food and drinks? That's a triple threat!

Yelp
Das LOFT is an absolute showstopper, and while it's undeniably expensive, the experience, particularly the view, makes it totally worth every single penny, at least in my opinion. From the moment you step into the restaurant, the panoramic views of Vienna are simply breathtaking. Seriously, I could have sat there for hours (in fact I did sit there for at least 2 hours), just soaking in the incredible cityscape. The food was also pretty good, nothing mind blowing, but very enjoyable. It was, as expected, on the pricier side, but again, I had no problem paying the premium price for those views. If you're looking for an unforgettable evening in Vienna and are willing to splurge for an absolutely sensational view, Das LOFT is the place to be. You could also opt to just get a drink on the upper level if you prefer to not spend as much. Highly, highly recommend for anyone visiting!

Yelp
(Overall: A+) - Das Loft is a beautiful rooftop eatery in the So/ Hotel with views overlooking the entire Vienna city center that is for sure not worth missing. If you want a window seat table, you must participate in their pre-fixe that would run for 130euros. The food is innovatively exciting, high quality and impressive, particularly among the presentation front. (Dragonfruit Cocktail: A) - If I had to design an Asian-inspired cocktail, this is everything I would want. The dragonfruit provides a beautiful pink sheen to the drink, in addition to a beautiful garnish, which is a smart use of the peel. Lychee is also a good pairing that is light and aromatic. (Salmon Tartare: A+) - I love the intricacies involved to make this first bite truly set the tone for the rest of the menu. For example, that green sauce seems to serve at least three purposes -- one to hold the puff in place, another to add colors similar to vines in a garden with those flowers, and third, to add acidity to the dish to build depth of flavor and pair with the richness of the salmon. Very impressive dish. (Tomato Butter: S) - As a person who does not enjoy butter, this was the best butter I've had to date. Tomato is a genius pairing as it adds some slight sweetness and acidity to help lighten the fattiness. Further, it was beautifully plated almost to the shape of a burrata that truly captures the picture perfect essence of this dish. (Arctic Char: A) - The arctic char is paired with a classic ponzu that adds bold flavors that works. The fried vermicelli, though, is such a smart pairing that helps raise the bar for the dish as it gives height and some impressive presentation, and also soaks up that beautiful dressing. (Pork Belly: S) - I was quite impressed with this dish given the numerous elements that complemented each other harmoniously. The crispy chicharron added some crunchy lightness to the rest of the pork belly, and the kumquat added significant acidity to balance the dish. I was also a big fan of the eggplant puree, which added a creamy earthiness to the dish. (Angus Beef: B) - This is a beautifully plated beef and mash dish with handmade gnocchi which was light and fluffy. Unfortunately, even after sending back the first piece of beef, I found the beef to be rather over that is almost worthy of a job well done (despite still being tender). (Viennese Fruits: C) - This is yet another beautifully plated dish, but unfortunately I found this dessert lacking in substance as it pairs fruit, ice cream, and sweet bread, missing a component with significant backbone to ground the dish. I did enjoy the farm to table flavors that were harmonious though. -- Food: E Presentation: +2 Price: E Atmosphere: +2 Service: +1 Menu: +1 Overall: +6 A+ Insta/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Yelp
Stunning views! The bar is beautifully styled and positioned so you can see the whole city. Make sure to arrive 20 minutes before sunset. Decent drinks, creative menu, but just like all the other reviews the staff are either too busy or don't care. Don't expect them to come by a second time.

David L.

Yelp
This is my first time visiting Vienna. A friend recommended this roof top restaurant and told me that I have to make sure I reserve a table right by the window. We did just that. The restaurant is on the eighteenth floor of a Sofitel hotel, Tables that were located by the window come with a fixed menu. The food was a okay. Nothing to write home about. The sweet and sour pork belly was a bit too sweet for my taste buds. The view was fantastic. The table allows us a 180 degree view of the skyline of Vienna. The ambiance and deco was trendy. It lifted our spirits when we arrived. Service was a bit slow. The fixed menu consisted of four courses and took us 2 1/2 hours to finish. If you have never been to Vienna, Das Loft is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
The best place to grab a fancy drink and watch a stunning sunset. The views are breathtaking. I can't speak for the food as I didn't eat here but if I am ever in Vienna again, I would definitely reserve a table for dinner here.

Yelp
If you want a rooftop with an amazing view and vibes this is it. You need to have a reservation to sit by the window but since we didn't have one we had to sit by the bar. Drinks were reasonably priced being a chic rooftop bar. Slower service than expected by maybe they were understaffed when we were there.
google avatar

David J.

Yelp
Once you make it past the (laughable) velvet ropes, are told by the Hostess that she has "no idea if the tables are full upstairs" and then (by force) makes you check all jackets, you take a lift from the ground floor to the absolutely stunning rooftop space. My group of 5 and I asked for a table at the restaurant but we were told it was too busy (the empty tables said otherwise). He couldn't possibly seat us so he waved us off to the bar and he promised he'd come get us once he could manage finding a table for us. Please place your bets now on if that ever happened. Drinks and snacks at the bar were very nice. Our waitress was cold and but always stopped by when we needed her so that was good. Upon asking for the check, and paying the bill we we were reminded several times that tip was not included. Nor was it when we paid.

Yelp
Gorgeous view and a gorgeous interior design. The atmosphere is impeccable, yet the food was still a little bit too salty. Not just with salt, but it seemed like they over seasoned it just by that much. Aside from that, still a great experience and a great time touring around! (Pre-covid)

Yelp
Atmosphere, atmosphere, wow!! We had the chief's four-course tasting with his wine pairing. The food was excellent, the timing was perfect, and the view was breathtaking. A must-do while in Vienna!!

Yelp
This place is delicious and if I could I would give them a Michelin star! From the fabulous food and amazing drinks this rooftop restaurant is a must if your in Vienna. The view is surreal and everything was perfect/flawless. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
An overall very positive experience with beautiful views, surprisingly good food for a "view" place, and attentive service. Beware the dress code which seems to pick off (and piss off) some patrons, though I suspect more those hoping to drop into the club-ish bar than those with dinner reservations. The decor is modern, the vibe is hip, the music is club and moderately loud at that. The food is good, though the menu can be tricky to navigate because it's not very broad. We had a few of the finger bites to start (very good, don't skip), then I had the outstanding seared tuna and Iberica ham starter (an unlikely combination in my opinion, but very good and beautifully presented). The mains, the monkfish was very good and the saddle of lamb was excellent. The cheese plate for dessert was very broad, well explained, and you got to try one of every cheese. (I hate picking when I don't really know the cheeses.) The portions were not particularly large so don't skip that käsekrainer you were thinking of having while drinking a beer on one of the Platz's in the later afternoon before your dinner reservation.

Yelp
Awesome drinks (check out the glass for my Sanger de Toro) and an amazing view of Vienna. Super swank. Definitely recommend for a drink before heading out for dinner. Just be aware the beverages are pricey! Downgraded this from a 4 to a 3. Didn't mention in my initial review but servers seem pretty impressed with themselves. I didn't mind because it is a trendy hip spot - until we waited for more than 20 minutes after our drinks were gone for our check. He never came back after initial round and we finally had to beg the bartender to get it for us.

Yelp
This was an absolutely amazing experience. It's so dark and moody and exclusive, from the quiet service taking your coat and letting you through the velvet rope in the lobby, to the nearly lightless elevator to the rooftop. The service was so personal and intent on making sure I enjoyed myself. And the decor was so unique--very much a lounge vibe, with the coolest, most colorful ceiling. Then the view of the entire city--it just speaks for itself. For drinks, I started with a whiskey drink that was a little sour for me, but was still fun...and then switched to a martini that was absolutely delicious as-made (which is a feat in and of itself for martinis!) but also came with house-pickled olives in a cute little jar with thyme for you to add as much or as little juice to your cocktail as you want. I got a series of starters rather than an entree, starting with the octopus, which was so unique and kind of designed like sushi, with fragrant foam poured over top at your table. The steak tartare was good, but nothing particularly flavorful stood out--except maybe the homemade texas toast, which was kind of sweet and unique. Then the pasta was to die for--the sauce was actually foam, it was like it had been aerated, and I left literally nothing behind on that plate. I wrapped it up with this banana-chocolate dessert that played on texture and temperature--it was so cool!! I would totally prioritize going back to this place if I return to Vienna!!

Yelp
I was so taken back by the view! Came here for lunch and us girls had an amazing time! The restaurant overlooks Vienna and we were lucky enough to have good weather to enjoy the view. The food is amazing! And you must over the cheesecake! Staff were amazing! Super friendly and was helpful with all the questions we had about the menu.
google avatar

Sarina S.

Yelp
We had lunch there and the view is spectacular! Best view of the city! The food and service were really good. I had the cod and it tasty, perfectly cooked and came with a side of creamy mash potato (creamier than I've ever had but still good). The restaurant is super chic and require a smart casual attire but they were pretty lenient for lunchtime. Highly recommend reservation but if you come early for lunch (noon) you have a pretty good chance of getting a great seat next to the windows overlooking the city.
google avatar

Yelp
Great dining experience! This restaurant has no doubt the best view of any restaurant in Vienna. Le loft, being the tallest building close to the city, gives you an amazing view of the whole of Vienna. Honestly it is worth going here just for the view. I've been here twice before and wasn't that impressed by the food but this time I came for lunch with my family and was pleasntly surprised. The food was really spectacular and beautifully plated. Beautiful food to compliment the beautiful view. Even their sourdough bread was super bomb. I will say though that it is pretty pricey. The 4 course menu is 91€. Individually the appetizers are around 25€ and the main courses are around 35€ and desserts are approximately 12€. So good food is to be expected with these prices.

Yelp
We arrived to the Loft on Friday December 23 around 630 pm. We did not have a reservation. When we inquired about a table, we were told they had been booked for 10 days solid and had nothing available, but we were able to sit in the bar area. We sat in the bar area and decided to have drinks and dinner there. Thankfully the staff opened up their full menu to accommodate us, since typically they only serve a modified bar area menu. Well, first let's talk about why we all are coming here, for the view!! YES IT IS AS AMAZING AS EVERYONE SAYS! Definitely a must do when you come to Vienna. 360 degree views of the city, and a contemporary bar/restaurant. Super nice. The photos attached do not do it justice. The food was decent, very pricey though. Drinks were good, average whiskey selection, nothing shocking, but overpriced. We ordered a variety of appetizers and main courses and just shared. Like I said, was good but nothing special. The waitress was very cool and attentive. Why the three stars you ask? Well during the entire night, the restaurant never reached over 70% occupied. Each time we all went to the bathroom, we commented on how many empty tables there were and why they couldn't fit us in. We made it very clear we would take any table. We ended up staying till about 2 AM and spent over 700 Euro, I don't think it would of been a stretch for them to seat us at a table. Either way, great location, a must see. Stop in for a few drinks before you head out to you main venue is my recommendation.

Yelp
One of the Best Views of Vienna. We just went for a few drinks and the view, nothing to eat. I had the Bigote Blanco drink and it was spectacularl.

Yelp
The best dinner experience in my entire life! An amazing, breathtaking view, a great staff and delicious, original-recipe food. I was so pleased to be there! Prices are super high but it's totally value for money. I enjoyed every second of being there. It's a stylish, little snobbish place for rich people but it's what it's suppose to be. Great business-style hotel, amazing design. I was really surprised when one of the staff persons called me to make sure we are coming in exact reserved time for a dinner. There is more than one 'type' of waiters and you feel really comfy there and important. That's the feeling I want to have in a restaurant. Waiting time was fine, not too long. I liked the music and the whole atmosfere there. I totally recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy fancy and great dinner!
google avatar

Yelp
Let's be honest: this place is beautiful. The view is breathtaking and it's almost a must if you want to have a lovely cocktail in an atypical place. Nevertheless, Das Loft is a bit overrated. The service is a bit familiar and the cocktails are not amazing. We did not try the food. To me, it is mainly all about the view, which is really fantastic.

Yelp
Visited Vienna for a weekend and found this amazing place to celebrate my birthday which was 10 days earlier. Made a reservation 1 week earlier.I wrote in the email that this will be a dinner to celebrate my birthday and asked for a table near a window.Got a feedback that they can't guarantee a place near a window but they will try their best. When I came to the restaurant unfortunately I got a place in the second row from the window.I felt a flight disappointment and asked the service for a change to a table by the window. There was a pair just finishing their drinks so it came out very convenient. After 5 minutes we where sitting by the window. As a starter we got butter with red beat roots (best butter into my life) with bread. We took the two glasses of wine lamb, halibut and as a dessert goya stuffed with something sweet + ice cream with white truffles and a chocolate cake Food was delicious and service very good ! Definitely a place worth visiting

Michael G.

Yelp
A little pricey, but everything is perfect. Even the French fries. Attentive service. Good bartenders. Amazing chefs. All that's enough to bring me back, but the panoramic views of the city, especially at sunset, make this place a must vto visit.

Yelp
So, I had been out fanga poppin and tootsie rollin up and thru Vienna. Night fell upon me and I wasnt ready to call it a day quite yet. You know one of those days where you look amazing after 10 hours.... Yes I was having one of those moments. I had on the perfect outfit from day to night and needed a little Viennese Glamour in my life. After hitting up a few bars in the area, I made my way to Das Loft. Das Loft is located on the other side of the Donuakanal in the Sofitel. You can see the bar from a mile away, just look at pictures of the roof. Once you make your way into the hotel lobby just take an elevator to the top. The bar is very happening, and even more glamorous than pictures show. The glow that the ceiling creates is magical. It would be nice to witness a sunset here and then drink into the night. There is plenty of seating, and I decided to sit at the bar. Here is where we ran into another American. A man my date and I would call Miami Vice for the remainder of the night. WHY? Because he wore a 1980's ill-fitted white linen suit. It was a site for sore eyes. He talked TOO MUCH. But was nice nonetheless. I had a mix of hand crafted cocktails and bubbly, all of which were delicious. I really do love it here, come here for a wonderful beginning to your night... Or a nightcap. Cheers!
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
Great experience at Le Loft in the Sofitel. The view was incredible and the drinks were delicious. Definitely expensive, but worth it for the view! The bartenders were friendly and patient with our questions. This is a must see if you are in Vienna.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cool bar in the center of Vienna! Got drinks here one night and the view of the city was beautiful. The bar is on the 18th floor so you can see quite a bit of the city from up here. We got some cocktails and wine flights, and were quite pleased with the amount of wine given in each glass of the flight (and for only 10 euros!) didn't get a chance to eat here but would go back to try the food as well.

Yelp
My husband and I are on holiday and walked from our hotel to the Das LOFT based on a recommendation from a local friend. We wanted to have some light food and drinks. We got there around 7:30pm and most of the restaurant and bar was empty. When the hostess greeted us, she mentioned we could only sit at the restaurant area if we were going to have dinner. My husband and I were not ready for a full sit down dinner, so we were considering the bar area for our visit. However, at that point she further proceeded to mention that there was a dress code requirement after 6pm, and that my husband did not meet those requirements. Additionally, she wanted to know if we were guests of the hotel to which we answered no. She asked if we could then go back in order for him to change clothes to which we were not going to do. We decided it was not worth the hassle, so we were just going to leave. However, right before leaving I asked if I could go by the window to take a few pics. At that point, she rudely told me I could take the pictures from where I was standing since she could not let me enter the restaurant area. This bothered me because there were four people in the entire restaurant area and I wouldn't have been bothering anyone. I could not believe she would not let me step in for a couple of minutes before heading out to get a few pictures from the city. I experienced ridiculous behavior from the hostess, and very poor customer service. I understand the view from this place is unbelievable; however, it seems like I am not the first one to experience terrible customer service at this place. It is a shame.

Chris R.

Yelp
The view is beautiful! That's where the product stops being worthwhile. My lamb were two small pieces of tail, one complete gristle and fat no meat at all. This cost was 48€ The service was slow and inaccurate with our orders. There are better places in Vienna with better product quality and service in spite of a nice view! Have a drink at the bar for the view. Pass this overpriced haughty place by.the view.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Come for the view, grab some cocktails at the bar, but you may want to skip dinner. We came here because of some good reviews on Trip Advisor, and a friend who stayed at the hotel. The service was not very good. We had to wait forever to get a wine list, and then our waiter disappeared, and we had to order a wine from the bar back. I ordered a more reasonable wine (equivalent of a $50 dollar bottle of white wine) and the guy looked at me like a bum. I understand they have a lot of expensive wine there, but paying $300 for a bottle of white was not appealing. To give them credit, they had a really nice list of Gruner Veltliner wines, which are native to Austria. The dinner is Pre-Fixed. We did 3 courses. Although we both enjoyed the main course which was Venison I believe, a couple of the courses were infinitesimally small...the classic fancy restaurant charging you $$$ for a pea sized dollop of sea foam. The view is very nice, but it felt pretty touristy, and in the end it is hotel food.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Must visit at least one time just for the amazing view! Sunset hour is certainly the most spectacular! Breakfast is also great at the Loft. The prices are on the higher side but I feel it's okay given the view and the classy feeling. What I don't like about this place and that's why I gave it 4 stars, is that it is hard to get a reservation and if you get one you go there and it's almost empty... It just doesn't make sense, happened more than 3 times already.
google avatar

Fabio Y.

Yelp
At the top of the Sofitel, you have a wonderful 360 view of Vienna. Since there are not many high buildings in Vienna, it has a view far away to the mountains In the horizon. The cocktails are spectacular, though a bit pricey (probably paying for the view). Highly recommended for a drink with friends. I don't know if the food is good. Ask for a table facing the river, so you have a view of the old city center.
google avatar

Can I.

Yelp
Not only the best view of Vienna, but also surprisingly delicious and tasty high end food. I had the carrot and black quinoa, and the beet and yogurt salad and both were excellent. Highly recommended but make sure to reserve in advance.

Yelp
I am with Corinne on this one; and I feel generous even giving two stars. The first star is because of the view. But that has nothing to do with the service or quality of the food. Whoever thought about that ceiling was a genius, with its breath taking colours. Advise that if you go, go at the sunset period so you enjoy the colours (only apparent and breath taking in the night time), but still have time to enjoy the city view. The second star is that it looks clean. Did not explore enough to say its really clean, and the bathrooms were not memorable, which in Vienna is a good thing (can't remember issues with soap and small chambers). So now that we got architecture and general hygiene off the way, the service here is deplorable, and just like Corinne wrote, they most obviously live off the architecture and don't care a bit about any service or quality. You wait forever for anything, and at an event that was obviously overbooked they treated guests coming in horribly instead of trying to find a common solution. There even was a shouting match. Not classy people. They also seems to be cherry picking who comes in, and it has more to do with appearance than anything else (do you think you make them look good). Its a bit more extreme than night clubs I think, especially with the age factor (more likely young couple gets in it seems or young girls in groups, so don't bring your parents kind of thing). Note, for the men, if you have anything else than dress shoes on, they will turn you around (a bit more flexible for women seems). So, two stars that the place would get before staff entered the place. After that, can't add a single star more. Conclusion: go up, see the view, go back down. No need to drink or eat there. Prices are ridiculous in any case.

Yelp
Breakfast has limited selection. View is good , but staff and service is just horrible. The manager looking dude simply ignored our window seat request and forced us to the "second row". His choice of words was poor and rude. Plus he didn't even offer a window seat after one became available. Very disappointed. Waited 10 mins for the second coffee. The waitress were generally nice, only this arrogant dude walked past us on our way out and didn't even care.

Yelp
If you would like to come here for the view, just know what you'll have to deal with emotionally as well as financially. This is the worst Viennese snobbery that we have dealt with so far, and literally the worst restaurant experience that I've ever experienced anywhere. We called to make a reservation, and were placed on hold. After waiting for 15 minutes, they dropped the call. We got a reservation at 8:30 in the restaurant. We get in, the view is SPECTACULAR. The hostess tells us that she can't help us since we didn't make a reservation, even though we could see our name on the list. We repeated the name, and she told us that it's going to be a while before she can seat us and that we should go to the bar while they prep our table. A half hour goes by, and the table is nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, more than half of the tables in the restaurant are empty. We follow up and they finally seat us. When telling them that we would just like appetizers, drinks, and desserts, they tell us that we can't sit by the windows unless we EACH pay for a whole course meal (we had dinner just a little while ago). No meal = back to the crowded bar we didn't make a reservation for. We weren't having it, and were about to go, but they "graciously " allowed us to stay by the window. We ended up walking away with a $166 dollar bill, which included charges for "free" bread, as well as a surcharge for using their "napkins", "taking the server's time", and for sitting in their chairs. Horrible.

Yelp
Good view, terrible service. The hostess did not tell my friend the full dress code and he had to go back to our hotel, change, come back, and was still rejected by the hostess.

Yelp
Super location for an amazing view and chic hangout with friends or a romanitc cocktail date. End of short story. Long version: I am being generous with three stars. Do not eat the food. It is not worth the time or price. And no matter how much a waiter knows about wine, wears fine gloves for service or pulls out my chair and takes my coat, if he can't take orders correctly and deliver edible food, I won't ever eat there again. The kitchen is to blame as well for sending me undercooked fish and tasteless sides to try and patch up a botched order. Apolgies abound, but no offer of replacement, free meal, or even free drink. Too often is this the story in Vienna. Put a pretty scene on it and a pretty price tag and maybe your customers won't notice you are over-compensating for an inferior restaurant. Guess what, we notice.

Yelp
While hoofing it around Vienna I happened to look up and notice a rather large building - one of the tallest in Vienna- and at the top of that tall building there was what appeared to be a restaurant with a multicolored glowing ceiling. As I got closer I found that the large building was a Sofitel hotel and after doing some googling, the restaurant was a bar called Le Loft restaurant and bar. I knew I had to go there and that some bad ass views would be had. The friends and I got a bit dressed up, since it looked quite fancy. It's not, though jeans and a tshirt would be discouraged. When you arrive be sure and enter the door that faces the canal. The elevator is right inside. Take that to the 18th floor. Once you leave the elevator the windows immediately draw your eye with amazing views of the Old City Centre and the surrounding area. The other image that assaults you is the bright panels that light up the ceiling. While beautiful they add a certain cast to the wall to wall windows that I don't enjoy. We didn't make reservations and the place was fairly empty at the 7 pm time we arrived. Since we had dinner plans we decided a drink was necessary in order to absorb the beauty. I had a pimms cup, and my friends had some other drinks. The Pimms cup was great. I wish that had gone a bit lighter on the amount of veggies in the drink, 3 cucumber slices and multiple maraschino cherries (those were odd), but the taste was on point. I didn't think the price was outrageous, but I was on vacation so most things that I would think twice about were out the window. If I remember correctly our drinks were around 9 or 10 euro... ok maybe a bit steep;) The service was decent for Vienna, as in servers actually payed attention to us. The bar seating area was set out well. The interior is tiered, the main bar is at the top tier, bar seating is a step below, and a step below that is the restaurant seating. I really like this setup since every one can get a good view. The bar seating area consists of low stuffed banquets and stuffed movable stools. I sort of wish I had gone for dinner if only to be able to sit close to the windows for multiple hours. Seriously people, the views in this place are drop dead G and even if you can't handle dropping a load of money one drink wont kill you- it's worth it.

Yelp
The view is outstanding!!! We just went to the bar and were lucky to get seats after a couple left their table. We ordered a few cocktails and just relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere. We had such a great time and didn't want to leave. You must go!!!

Yelp
Das blick ist sehr schön! Das sind beschissene Kellner! The servers totally tried taking advantage of us because we were tourists! I'd recommend anyone go check out this amazing view, but don't make the same mistake of ordering anything, instead use them like they do all the tourists! Walk through and around, the bathroom is on the opposite side of the room from the elevators and down some stairs. Have fun with it, if I go back that's exactly what I'll do!

Yelp
What a stunning restaurant . Located on the 18th floor of the hotel with a beautiful ceiling that complements well with the sunset. Service is great and the food is to die for. A must when in Vienna

Yelp
I visited Le Loft while traveling thru Vienna with a group of friends. Le Loft is on top of Sofitel (hotel), a tall, colorfully lite up building that you can see standing nearly anywhere in the city of Vienna. The building really is beautiful! Le Loft is a very classy (aka snobby) rooftop bar. It provides great views of the city and everyone there (staff and customers) are dressed to impress. The ceiling of the bar includes several TV screens, playing weird/erotic images. And the rest of the ceiling is covered in a colorfully patterned fabric that is back-lite. It does make for an awesome backdrop in pictures with your friends! When we arrived at Le Loft without a reservation (yes we're American tourists...whatever), the hostess greeted us with hesitation. We instantly knew we weren't getting into this place and were getting ready to turn around until a waiter sideswiped the hostess and told us there'd be a table available in ten minutes. "Great!" we thought....but wait.... We got overpriced drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Once we sat down at our table, our waiter was great! He promptly took all our orders and even volunteered to take pictures of our group with the amazing ceiling and skyline in the background. Then 15 minutes go by and one of my friends notice her hand is bleeding! Weird, right? What happened? After a couple minutes of inspection we realize that there was broken glass all over our seat and she had rubbed her hand across the seat. We all got up and alerted the staff and they tried to apologize but they didn't offer to discount our bill or give us another table. We were getting pretty frustrated at this point and just decided to leave. When the 'previously awesome' waiter gave us our bill, it was completely wrong. We were being charged for drinks we didn't order and it was quite a sizable amount of money. We tried to get this clarified with the staff but there was all kinds of communication problems. Again very frustrating. I would not visit Le Loft again and I would not recommend it to any friends. While it is in an awe-inspiring building, the staff is uncoordinated, rude, unwilling to work with you, and air-headed. When your business in this great of a location and you stage yourself as an upscale/classy bar, you need to have higher standards set for yourself. The experience we had at Le Loft was unacceptable in my opinion.

Yelp
Terrible experience at this restaurant. We were removed from our reserved table just because we were only having dessert and drinks. We had just had dinner at a different location. Didn't even allow to pay at the table, they moved us to the bar to pay. Rude and condescending staff, completely unprofessional.

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink before a classical music performance. The views are stunning, but the windows were dirty and we waited a long time for service. The cocktails were quite tasty once they arrived. I then had to chase down the waiter to pay our bill. I would go again anyway because the views of the city are stunning.

Yelp
104 euro charge per person (minimum) to sit at a table with a view. Food was cold and service was overbearing.

Yelp
The host's snobbiness totally diminishes the feeling you get from the nice city views the restaurant has to offer. Wait staff also is not the most attentive I've seen, something you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant. I would not go back.
