Das Posthotel (Tyrol, Austria) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In the course of a top-to-bottom renovation in 2014, Das Posthotel’s proprietors took it upon themselves to reinvent this onetime post-war inn as a hyper-ecological, boutique ski lodge. Their abiding principles are most evident in the predominant material: locally sourced timber (spruce, oak, and Swiss pine) in all its untreated, beautifully knotted glory. And indeed it’s a sight to behold, especially after hours of hard going on the blindingly white slopes; it doesn’t take you long to appreciate the warmth and downright coziness it evokes. Of course, that’s always been somewhat true of your classic Tyrol lodge — it’s practically law by this point to adhere to the period-piece formula with kitschy hunting trophies, faded photos of leathery climbing pioneers, and oversize armchairs by a roaring fireplace. Das PostHotel’s appeal lies in treating the past as a solid foundation rather than a crutch." - Tablet Hotels

Das Post Hotel | Best ski hotels in Europe

"Certified with the EU Ecolabel, environmentally-conscious guests can rest assured that the Posthotel is doing its utmost to protect the beautiful mountains that surround it. The wood used throughout the hotel comes from sustainable forests in the Zillertal region, its chlorine-free pool is solar heated, and the restaurant serves organic and locally-sourced food from personally-known farmers. Guests relish the vast sauna suite, with its Finnish, infra-red, bio and naked spaced. Complimentary add-ons include a welcome drink, free fitness sessions and home-made cakes and fruit in the afternoon. " - Nicola Iseard

There is a lot to like about this hotel, but some improvements could be made.||The hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection, but a few aspects didn’t feel luxurious. ||On the positive side, we had great service from most of the staff. Our luggage was taken to our room and our car parked for us while we had a welcome drink. ||There were however a couple of occasions where staff acted like we were a nuisance, despite it being nearly empty. It didn’t always feel warm and friendly, and sometimes it felt like they weren’t used to seeing two men on holiday together. ||Our room was spacious and we were grateful for an upgrade to a pool view. The bed was comfortable, but we struggled to sleep as the room was far too warm all through the night, even with the fan that we had to request. ||Apparently the hotel is working on installing air con, but to not have it did not feel like luxury to us. I had to sleep with only the sheet for the duvet and even then I was too warm. ||There is some kitchen equipment but no coffee available. We were told that we could order what we wanted, but sometimes you want to wake up and enjoy a coffee on the balcony without having to call someone. ||We were sent information about cuisine, but only one restaurant option was open to us because the sister hotel was closed. This ruled out the fine dining option that we wanted for our honeymoon. We were not told about this before we arrived. ||It also meant that we struggled to get a spa treatment at a time that suited us. I don’t know how they were so full; we saw less than 10 other guests the entire time. This was a major disappointment as only one of us could get a facial. ||The food was tasty. Breakfast had a good number of options and a hot choice. We had dinner one night and it was delicious. We enjoyed our drinks too, but wine was overpriced and there was no English menu. ||The spa area is clean and well-equipped. We enjoyed that a lot. The gym was small and basic though. | |The pool area is lovely but it does not get a lot of sun and it is overlooked by apartments. ||Overall we had a pleasant stay but we booked this hotel expecting luxury and instead received something more basic. ||We have experienced better elsewhere and most likely wouldn’t return.

We stayed at DasPosthotel this summer for 10 days and this were 10 very good days. The service of the staff, the room, the breakfast and all the other facilities, very good! Thank you for all making our stay at your hotel one to remember.

My husband and I stayed here for a long ski weekend. We had never heard of the resort before and took a gamble as this was a last minute booking. ||The hotel was fabulous, luxurious, quality decor and very attentive staff. We stayed in one of the loft rooms which was spacious and had mountain views on both ends (with a sunken bath to relax in whilst looking at the view!). The room even had a small kitchen, basic but unexpected and surprisingly useful (one night we bought some wine, bread and cheese and ate in our room). ||Breakfasts were amazing, with a vast array of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries along with eggs cooked to order. ||We ate dinner in the hotel twice. The food was expensive but high end, using quality and locally sourced ingredients. There are other cheaper places to eat, but they tend to be in other hotels. ||Skiing - there’s a ski bus that runs every 20 mins ish right next to the hotel, which takes 5 mins to the main gondola up to the slopes. All the ski lifts were really quick so we were able to cover a large area despite the poor weather conditions (fog / mist). ||The hotel is on the main road through the town, and next to the railway line. I didn’t notice the noise at all. ||We had a a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend a his hotel. Thank you

Just got back from a week's stay at this wonderful hotel in the picturesque village of Zell. From the moment I walked through the door and was greeted by Lea on reception, to the day I left, I loved staying here. It's very near to the ski bus stop which is then just a few minutes ride away from the lovely Zillertal Arena ski area, but also near enough to the local train to get to the other ski areas in the valley. All the staff were great and attentive. I took advantage of the two days of ski guiding with Johannes, a fantastic guide who helped me achieve two of my goals - to ski the glacier area at Hintertux and to do the complete Arena circuit from Zell to Krimml and back. The spa area and pool are exceptional and a great way to relax and recover after a day of skiing. I would highly recommend and can see myself returning many times in the future.

The finest hotel experience I have ever had in my life. The guests are treated like royalty, the rooms are beyond beautiful and the amenities beyond belief. Well worth the cost of the room and I recommend this hotel highly.

Our ski vacation at Posthotel was an unforgettable experience! As one of the few 5-star hotels in Austria, the property excels with exceptional service—from the warm reception to the restaurant that impresses with its excellent price-performance ratio and outstanding quality. As a passionate foodie who frequently dines at renowned fine dining establishments worldwide, I can confidently say that the culinary offerings here are truly remarkable. The extensive wine list leaves nothing to be desired.||Additionally, the complimentary parking and spacious, freely accessible parking garage add to the convenience. The hotel's immediate proximity to the Zillertal Arena makes it the ideal base for a perfect ski vacation. A flawless experience that truly stands out!

A Hidden Jewel in the Zillertal Alps – DasPosthotel @ZillerSeasons. by Jeffrey Louis-Reed From the moment you arrive at DasPosthotel, nestled in the heart of Tyrol's breathtaking Zillertal valley, you're enveloped in a world where alpine luxury meets conscious design. This five-star eco-boutique retreat is more than a hotel—it's an experience, a celebration of nature, well-being, and exquisite taste. The attention to detail is evident in every inch of the space—from the handcrafted wooden interiors infused with local charm to the artful integration of sustainability throughout. Rooms and suites radiate warmth and modern alpine elegance, many with sweeping views of the mountains, private saunas, and crackling fireplaces that invite you to slow down and savor the moment. But it’s the gourmet dining experience that elevates DasPosthotel to true world-class status. The “DieMarie” restaurant delivers a Michelin-star-level journey through Tyrolean flavors reimagined with contemporary flair. Under the guidance of a masterful kitchen team, each plate is a portrait of seasonal, locally-sourced excellence—think wild herbs, mountain trout, venison, and handpicked produce, all presented with refined artistry. The wine list is equally exceptional, featuring rare Austrian vintages and international treasures, curated with sommelier-level care. Whether you’re returning from a day skiing the slopes, hiking alpine trails, or simply luxuriating in the rooftop spa, the culinary craftsmanship and serene atmosphere will leave a lasting imprint on your senses. The staff? Impeccably trained, genuinely warm, and effortlessly attentive—the kind of service that quietly anticipates your needs and exceeds them. DasPosthotel is not just a place to stay—it’s a retreat for gourmands, nature lovers, and seekers of sublime alpine elegance. A stay here is a memory you’ll revisit long after the snow melts and the mountains turn green again. We really loved it. Will come again. Thank you to all the staff and excellent kitchen. Wonderful place.

A truly wonderful hotel. The staff are all fantastic, incredibly welcoming and attentive. Little touches from welcome drinks to offering ice cold flannels and drinks on hot days by the pool. Everything was thought about and impeccable. We stayed in the skylofts which had amazing views and beautifully decorated.
