Great experience, first time seeing the market and lots of customers in and out. Staff was approachable and friendly, the amount of fish selection is second to none. Lots of customers who return here and keep on coming for the freshness of the fried fishes. The community holds this place together! Dennis, the General Manager, was helpful as well and informed me of the market’s history! Glad to have visited and excited to return as well. Parking is busy so be careful and drive cautiously when entering and exiting.

Always great service and friendly staff, the Jamaican bun is awesome, and tend to ship it to my sister. Belizean love Crabbo/Nance with sweet condense milk, and I keep saying I'm going to puree it for my mom, but we will see if I stop procrastinating. lol You can buy lotto here, and find all kind of food items to cook together here, as mt best friend creates his seafood boil from food items here.

Reminds me of the fishmarkets in NY... They recently did a renovation for better flow of customers...checkout is now at the rear of the building, just as you enter the store from the parking lot. Its better. The only thing they can improve on is the line for the fish/meat market section. If folk can pull a number, there will be less waiting and more shopping. Overall a great selection of products, produce, meats, fish (fresh and frozen) and pricing is very good.

Got everything I needed to make oxtails & butter beans. They didn’t have scotch bonnet but they had habanero which is a close alternative. The meat & seafood counter is a whole operation and very legit. It was my first time ordering oxtail and I had no idea what thickness to get it cut but the butcher did a great job. It was $60 for 4 lbs. There’s a parking lot but it can be a little chaotic. I went at noon on a Sunday though and it was manageable. The people there are also very nice.

Oh wow I love this Market you run into people here from all walks of life Filipino Chinese Japanese African Belizean Jamaican I saw people from all over the world in this market I thought I was at the United Nations anyway I bought two oxtails and they added up to $61.00 I like the tails I like for it to be cut up the way I like it excellent Market you need to try it out they got bags of shrimp bags of crab legs all kind of fish from all around the world oh my God and Seasonings Galore

I have been going to this market for over 25 years, It is always CLEAN, WELL STOCKED, Most of the butchers and cashiers are helpful and pleasant not to mention a wide array of Caribbean foods that you cant find anywhere else, and Dustin is a sweetheart.

Convenient, small Asian market with lots of fresh meats and fish. We found our kalo leaf and purple sweet potato here. We had been looking for months! Really small parking lot around the back. They have security because lots of people were acting really crazy, including parking right in front so other people couldn't get into the parking lot. Great selection, affordable prices. We will be back!

I have been frequenting this store since I was 5! I'm now 36 and still visit! I must admit a lot less frequently since I'm out in the desert but I have fond memories of DatMoi and will always make it a point to stop when I'm in the area.

This store is my go-to for fresh/frozen meat, seafood, produce! Parking is plenty full and cashiers are knowledgeable and very helpful especially when I pick my Balut and they always come up to me and assist me in picking the best ones in their trays of Balut for Boiling I love how they're on top of making sure everyone are served in the meat/seafood area by following their systematic queue! The store is not as big as the usual asian market that's why it's easier for me to find the products i am looking. gotta love the a store where it's diverse with friendly atmosphere. My mother's family is from Hawaii so I grew up eating food from the islands. I happen to love (and make a mean) Lau Lau. To do this you need a lot of fresh taro leaves. This is where Dat Moi comes into the picture. This is the only thing I have ever purchased there as it is very hard to source this main ingredient for the dish. Dat Moi has never disappointed me with their supply. The taro is VERY fresh and all of the family loves the Lau Lau that comes from them. The hard to find produce from many cultures can be found here as I have seen many different ethnicities shopping there every time I go.

When I tell you if you're looking for West Indian seasonings...this is the pace?! This is the place....

My favorite local Asian store. Great selection of Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai, and Chinese products. This place has everything from fresh produce, meat and fish, canned goods, and more. Great quality produce at fair prices. The employees here work super hard to run the business.

Came to this market because I needed fresh scotch bonnet peppers. This is a very good Caribbean market but be warned, it gets super busy and the parking situation is super annoying.

What a great selection on Vietnamese, Asian, and Caribbean food stuff. Parking in the back can be tight on the weekends. Avoid the crowd and go during the week around noon.

one day I was in need of rice noodles but didn't want to go to 99 ranch or Chinatown so I yelped "rice noodles grocery store" and I was brought to Dat Moi, I was hesitant because it's on a busy street but once I took the leap of faith I haven't thought twice of going elsewhere. Recommend for their international ingredients and fruit/vegetables. Go early if you want your meat and seafood bc there's normally a long line for that service.

Service takes time because there's a lot of people. I haven't had actual food that's cooked since it's really a market like most except it's pretty small and carries unusual Asian items that most don't have. You can pick out a fresh fish and they will clean and deep fry for you. Parking is limited.

Dat Moi has everything you need from fish, beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, exotic seasonings, and more. Service was very good and punctual. The prices were very reasonable, I got 5lbs of snow crab for about $80 along with 3lbs of shrimp for under $20. They have a lot of items that you won't find in normal grocery stores especially in LA so if you from out of town or just want to experience a lil piece of Caribbean culture you got to stop by Dat Mou

I've been coming here with my family for over 10yrs and I have personally been coming here for over 7yrs. I didn't expect the shock to be treated the way I was on Christmas Eve at about 10:30am by Dustin. Horrible return service. Maybe it's because of the demographic they serve (mainly immigrants) that's. why they don't care about customer service or reevaluating their nonsense return and compensation policy. I keep buying their yams and cocoyams and getting home and they're all spoiled with only 2 or 3 still ok. I have complained about this to Dustin the manager and had whole conversations with him before. He assured me to come back and they will replace if it happens again. Most times i don't because of the drive and being busy, but this time around i was sick of it. Things are expensive not to talk of inconvenience and commute.... Needless to say, that didn't happen when i showed up there on Christmas eve to get a replacement on my order he said he doesn't remember having this conversation with me. I was so shocked and disappointed. I literally say hi to everyone there especially him and hold conversations each time i come in. He said i should have kept the receipt, their return is only after 3 days, and i was supposed to bring the peels back(imagine bringing back the peels and rotten product just to prove something from 2 weeks back). Mind you i called when this happened and i live an hour away with no traffic so i can't keep driving back and forth. The only reason i am leaving a 5 star review today 12/30 is because of a guy named "Eric". He said he was new there but showed me more courtesy and consideration than someone I've been dealing with for years. He replaced my cocoyams for me and it was honestly my christmas gift. If i ever come back to Datmoi, it will only be because of him.

I really enjoy coming to this international market. It's usually crowded with people. Parking is in the back now only. I like coming here because they sell a variety of caribbean, african, spanish, Asian goods, and more.

I just love coming here to get all my ingredients for cooking a lovely meal The fish is always so fresh, and the staff is organized and friendly. I could spend hours in his marked every time I come here.

Moved to Los Angeles a little over a year and a half and THIS has been our go to farmers market for everything fresh. Our staples: okra, fresh fish, plantain, oxtails, beef, shrimp... you name it. They tend to be very busy Sunday afternoons so avoid then if you can ... Parking available in back. No such thing as ordering ahead they also have hen and Turkey

Small market - but a large variety of Asian, Caribbean, and Latin items. Love the diversity. Because the market is small, it's quite crowded, but there are signs and employees that keep things orderly. The parking is crowded as well, but they have a dedicated person directing everyone in the parking lot. Cars are regularly coming and going, so you'll likely find a spot. Many people inside were in the line for the seafood. They offer complimentary fish frying if you buy fish there. There is also a consistent line for the two cashiers up front, but it moves quickly. I personally was hoping to find taro leaves but did not see any. I did pick up Thai basil, French butter, and frozen jute leaves. If you expect your markets to be perfectly pristine, this is probably not the place for you.

This market is special. It's not JUST a Japanese market or an Asian market. I probably cannot even accurately describe what all they have here. But if I had to pick ONE market to go to, this would be it, because they have the widest variety of produce, canned foods, dry goods, beverages, etc of any place I've ever seen. If you need it. They probably have it. That said, it can be a bit intimidating for first timers. The main event is the seafood section - there's a separate line for seafood, whole fish (among other things) on piles of ice, and free fish frying. I did not participate in this so I can't speak to the quality or logistics, but it's what you'll notice first. It's the loudest thing going on in there and also the most aggressive smell you'll smell. I enjoy wandering through the other aisles. Everyone's really nice and there's ample parking in the back.

The culture has always needed this place. Traditional markets dont supply the specialities Dat Moi has to offer.

I was told about this place from a friend. It's always busy and has a great Caribbean finds and amazing fresh seafood. Go early and plan to wait.

First off props to international markets! Thank you for acknowledging that our culture is a staple! So pulling in is a lil tricky, but there is ample ish parking in the back but I can't imagine it will sustain on a weekend or heavy traffic but they tried. When I walked in it gave me the naija store vibes lol station behind the register got the high end products lol tiger balm, bigen, apetamin drink, even tura soap lol and dettol- which is lowkey discriminatory because what it implies is y'all be stealing lol anyways there's a line for meat and fish etc they chop it up for you and price it - I saw they had a good variety of meat cuts especially parts for our melanated and cultured cuisines like tripe, chicken hearts and gizzards and feet, pork ears and hooves idk but they had quite a few fresh fishes too - now they had a few Nigerian food items which I was disappointed about because is it a Asian market or combination lol well they had titus can, palm wine even but I mainly came for the Jamaican staples which they have

I've been here only once - a loooooooong time ago - but I vowed never to return because this whole place just STANK. It smelled of rotten fish, rotten meat, just rotten EVERYTHING. My last thought as I walked out the door then was, "They're not the only Asian store around here..." Fast forward forever later, I happen to be next door to pick up my puppy after a procedure but I came through much too early, so I decided to kill a little time and check this place out one more time. I was curious as well as prepped to run out should that same experience from that last visit pop out again. They've blocked off parking up front to observe social distancing. There is someone at the door being mindful of the number of people entering as well as exiting. There wasn't a line, so I got through with ease. I was delightfully surprised: did this place get bigger? Or did they just do a great job of reorganizing? It was a hot mess the last time (albeit over a decade ago) so this was a good second impression. Fresh veggies, fresh and frozen varieties of seafood and meats. They have a wide array of basic products for most Asian, Indonesian, and Jamaican (and then some) cuisines. The variety is astounding. They were all priced reasonably as well. I didn't plan on buying anything but ended up with a basket and a half of goodies to bring home. Another plus? They now clean and fry fish as an additional service! OMG, I loved this visit! It's conveniently on the way home from work, so I'm definitely making more stops here. Kudos, Dat Moi, for the improvement! I shall return!

I still really like this market the prices have increased SIGNIFICANTLY! I usually just get crab from here and it's had increased over $10 per pound! Which sucks! The people are pretty nice and very helpful (at least in my experience). King crab was $36 per pound. Snow was $22 per pound. Took away the star bc of the price increase.

I'm Black, born and raised in South L.A., with a foodie pallet but I'm not an experienced International Market shopper. I was in the search for pickled carrots and daikon to make my own BanhMi sandwiches at home - which led me to Dat Moi Market. Sooo surprised to see so many brown faces in the store.

This is the first time on either coast encountering a Vietnamese and Jamaican store in one. It makes life so much easier, not exactly the cleanest, but they have all the Jamaican necessities- patties, yellow yam, bun, tastee cheese and as for the Vietnamese necessities-- you name it they have it. All the staff are nice and helpful. Will be stopping by quarterly for my fix.

Cool market with great prices and a variety of Asian and jamaican groceries. There's also a large meat and seafood counter and a freezer full of exotic meats. I'm very glad I found this market because now I know where to find all the seasonings to make jamaican oxtail, ackee, festival bread.. Seasonings that are super hard to find and usually very expensive if you need them shipped to you. They also have an extensive soul/ cajun spice area. I mean seriously their spice selection is one to be reckoned with. They just found a new loyal customer in me.

Small family owned market that can easily be missed if you're not paying attention. Lots of seafood options as well as Asian and African groceries. Planning to come back again one day!

If you're here almost strictly for Caribbean and/or Vietnamese products, it's great. However, given that this place comes up when you search for "Asian market", I would've wanted a wider range of products. I came here looking for Korean products and could not find a single thing. Maybe the business should consider adding a couple aisles for other products in the future.

The seafood selection is great. The employees work hard to make sure you're helped accordingly with the line they have established. It'll be good to browse through your selection before falling in line to get some seafood/meat butcher service, so you know exactly what to get when you're called. It doesn't cost anything to be courteous and polite toward the next customers and employees. It's what being human with manners is all about. Patience y'all!

Good market, a blend of multiple cultures and has everything you need. The fresh meat section was large for a market this size. The produce section wasn't overwhelming but had enough.

I love this International grocery store. I used to live in Trinidad&Tobago, Puerto Rico, and I travel all over the world with my job as a Flight Attendant. They have a great selection of Caribbean, African, and Asian spices and ingredients. They are one of the only stores in L.A. that I can find Trinidadian spices, Puerto Rican spices, African and Nigerian ingredients, and New Orleans creole Cajun spices. They are the only store in L.A. I've been able to find "culantro" or "shado Beni" (long blade cilantro) that I need for my Trinidadian and Puerto Rican cooking. If they don't have my Caribbean spices and ingredients here, I head to El Zorro Market on the corner of Lennox and Hawthorne that has even a wider selection of Caribbean ingredients and spices including Goya. They are actually my favorite Caribbean grocery store, but this place is great!

Love love love Dat Moi! With the various types of food and spices for all pallets, Asian, Jamaican, and Creole. The service is always great (I'm Asian) so the wonderful Cashier's are always nice to me! It's funny, I'll bet the people complaining about "the rude cashier" are white, and I'll bet the cashier that "needs to be fired" owns the place!! Note to white peoples, if your going to complain, take yourselves to Vons or Ralphs stay out of the neighborhood market!!

I love this Market if you are looking for fresh Red Snapper, Shark, king fish you name them they have it there.Fresh king crab,p shrimp this is where you should go, it is a international paradise everything is so fresh the prices are good as well. They will cut oxtail for you they also fry fresh fish you can find spices from around the world, They have a lot of different rice it's where you go to find a lot of good stuff.

With a new craving obsession for Caribean food, that love leads me to Dat Moi Market. The market is local and isn't far from where I live. The first time I went to the Market I didn't realize it was located in an area where I frequent. There is this really good authentic Jamaican restaurant right across the street, that my husband and I go to often. Which is why I was at this market in the first place. I wanted to learn how to make Brown Stew Chicken. Dat Moi Market has pretty much all of the ingredients you would need to make authentic international foods. From Beans, fresh Spices, & seasonal Island Fruits. With a wide variety of Sodas and Fruit juices. What I also liked about this market is they have fresh Seafood available for purchase. You can get your Fish fried for free! (They don't season any of the Fish btw.) The prices are reasonable, I mean where else can you go to find international Spices, Meats, and Drinks that won't hit you over the head in budging. Overall the Market is busy as if you were in a Framers Market. A lot of people, in a small area to maneuver through. A beautiful sea of different cultures all in one place. One thing I forgot to mention is this Market parking area is Terrible! My suggestion to you is to arrive early to get in and get out. Adding customers to the equation makes it even smaller to walk around in. See you soon!

If you are into international foods or a person that has been missing some of the foods you're use to eating from your homeland you will find this store very useful. Of course it doesn't have every country but there are a lot. They have fresh vegetables/fruits, seafood, snacks and drinks. They even have different spices, and things I've never seen or heard of, basically all the things you won't find in your normal grocery store. I would suggest going through every aisle. The store was also very busy so I can imagine that it will be there for a long time. We spent like 50 something dollars on snacks, and they were all good.

Based on at least two negative reviews below, it appears that I am not the only person being rudely treated by the Vietnamese cashier in the front of the store. Being fluent in many Asian languages and Vietnamese being one of them (thanks to decades of doing missionary work in SE Asia), I counseled her to be more civil in her own native tongue. She had zero reaction except further yelling at me in Vietnamese. She was so rude that even her bagging helper got so embarrassed that he had to leave the area. I am not sure if she is just an uneducated employee who needed to be fired immediately or one of those pompous family members but either way, don't forget that you are profiting off of people in the area, therefore, at the absolute minimum know who is buttering your bread and treat people with respect. Well you can find pretty much find everything you need to cook a Jamaican or African dish with here. Prices not so bad. I buy fresh and fried fish here too It's definitely a one stop shop! My mom loves shopping here too. I totally recommend

If you're Caribbean, this is the place to go! You can find most of the fruits, veggies, seasonings that are used in Caribbean cuisine. Well worth the drive

This bustling market with it's grumpy butchers transports me to Saturday food shopping in Flatbush Brooklyn NY This is dat place to get hard to find (in LA) West Indian goods. Fresh oxtails, great fish, goat, cow foot, chicken feet etc abound here One * off for significantly higher prices on West Indian dry goods that are MUCH cheaper in NYC. 1 example of many: Dat Moi = $18.99 for a tin of Ackee (WHAAA!) vs $6.99 (already pricey) in NYC.

The best part about living in LA is that we are a population of diverse cultures. Diverse cultures = a variety of markets. DAT is a great international market that will inspire you to cook something culturally different then your typical foods. It's a small store but dont let that fool you. The people that work here are super friendly and helpful. They sell all kinds of sea food, and unique meats like: ox tail or goat . When you purchase fish here, you can have them fry it. Vegans, this is a great spot to get unique spices, sauces and veggies ( of course check the labels). At the very least, you must check out the cookware aisle. They sell the biggest pots ,ever! The knife's and bamboo spatulas are my favorite! The weekend is probably their busiest time. You can find additional parking in the back.

The one star is for the singularly rude cashier who yelled at me because I couldn't understand what she was saying. The fact that we were both speaking through masks did nothing to boost her empathy. This place needs to educate its cashiers. The 50 ish Vietnamese woman who worked at the front cashier on 10/29/2021 at about 4PM was very rude. She acted as if she was still fighting the American on her rice patty back home. This is America. We treat people with respect.
