My mouth is watering just typing this. We started with the fried mozzarella. This is the first time having disc shaped mozzarella “sticks” and they were little clouds of deliciousness! The server introduced herself and I was so pleased and intrigued to hear that it’s been a family business and her and her sister run it. I love it’s local! My husband had the spaghetti pie and I had a garlic butter clam pasta dish, I forgot the name. It was all amazing!!! Will go back!

Google
The food was great, but there was only one waiter. He did his best but there really should have been two. Especially when you are including a 20% gratuity on the bill. We ran out of drinks during the meal but our waiter was too busy to do anything about it.

Excellent food, great service, great ambiance. This place has been around for 5 generations. Generous portions. All around great place.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at Dats Italian and it was hands down the most delicious Italian food I've ever had! The experience was so exceptional that we returned today for dinner, ordering the same dishes and even adding extra ones to our meal. The food is truly finger-licking good, bursting with authentic Italian flavors. The atmosphere is amazing, with a warm and inviting ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredible, providing top-notch service with genuine friendliness and attentiveness. The patio is charming and adds to the delightful experience, with the wonderful aromas of Italian cuisine filling the air. I'm more than willing to make the drive back just to enjoy another extraordinary meal at this Italian restaurant. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience Dats Italian is the place to go!

Google
My husband and I have tried every Italian restaurant in Colorado Springs, and nothing comes close to Dat’s Italian. The food is authentic, full of flavor, and clearly made with love. It’s the real deal — fresh pasta, rich sauces, and that cozy, family-owned feel. This is our go-to spot for Italian. Nothing else compares! Literally the best Italian food in the Springs!!!

We went for the first time tonight and my dad could tell right away from the food there was some New York influence. We loved the family atmosphere and the food was delicious! The staff were very friendly and told us about the pictures of their family on the wall. My dad had the lasagna and loved it, we also enjoyed the bread sampler and fried mozzarella. I would highly recommend coming here, some of the best Italian in the Springs, and you can support a local family.

Google
Absolutely the WORST Italian food I have ever eaten. I think spaghettios would have been better. The Alfredo noodles were dry and chewy. I watch the cook microwave them and asked the waiter. He said “oh no never”. LIES My wife ordered the lasagna. Waiter said it was the best lasagna you’ll ever eat…..LIES!!! Olive Garden is better. Save your money and find a different place to eat.

Google
Great place in a great area. Service is top notch, prices fair and the food is absolutely incredible. Went pound of mussels and I shouod have done two pounds honestly. Sausage carbonara was delicious. The portion sizes are enough for two meals.

Yelp
We found this restaurant on Yelp and so glad we did! We are visiting from out of town and love going to local family owners places. The owners were working and were so genuine and friendly. The service and food was wonderful!

Yelp
This is the service and accommodation by a restaurant that you wish for every single time you walk into a restaurant!! The owners took over only in May and they've incorporated all of the right changes (only as I presume based on other less than ideal reviews in the previous years). The owners are the sole operators on the floor on this busy Friday night and gracefully handled a full restaurant and did not skip a beat! They made recommendations to us on their popular and favorite dishes and drinks. We enjoyed talking with them and they were SO nice to our kiddos. food was good!

Yelp
We went on a Friday night for a 7:30pm reservation so maybe that's our fault but it was very slow. Took a while to get seated, a while for the server to come to the table, and 45 minutes to get our 2 entrées which were both good thankfully. The star of the show for me was the fact that I could eat their house-made Caesar salad because the dressing was vegetarian AKA made without anchovies (they were a topping you could hold).

Yelp
My husband and I are visiting Colorado Springs from out of state. I found this place online with the recommendation for the eggplant parmesan, one of his favorite dishes. We were so delighted with every part of the meal. Walking in felt like being welcomed into someone's home. There's a cozy bar and family pictures that we looked at after we ate. Our server, the retired original owner's daughter was charming and warm. She gave us some history of the restaurant and explained the pictures and artwork. She made us feel comfortable and welcomed without hovering. When my husband bit into the bruschetta, he said he would move here just to have it again. I wish we had taken pictures of our entrees. The egg parm lives up to its reputation and I loved my carbonara. The reviews that say the service was slow are wild to me. The flow of the whole meal was perfect. When she set down the bill, I truly believed she meant there was no rush and to please feel welcomed to have another drink and relax even though we were the last two people there. I know this is a foodie area and we've had some great food this week. This was easily our favorite meal, for both the experience and the food. If we lived here, we would be happy to come every week!

Yelp
Best Italian food I've ever had!!! Mussels, carbonara, eggplant, meatballs! Everything was amazing! Highly, highly recommend!!! Excellent service too!

Yelp
I know that ownership is new, and there has been some issues, however we LOVED the people that own it, and the food is delicious. It's actually as good as Italy. The fettuccini with breaded chicken is DIVINE.

Yelp
Our experience at Dat's Italian was pleasurable. Service was excellent and we received everything we asked for in a prompt manner. The portions are large and each of us need a a to-go box. I wasn't feeling very adventurous and stuck with the lasagna, which was yummolicious. Pair that with a nice Pinot Noir, some bread and fried cheese, I didn't not have any room for any of the lovely desserts in the case. The nice thing about Dat's Italian is that it's also close to the Pikes Peak Events Center, which makes it a great place to stop in for dinner before the show. Pro tip: I believe there is Public Parking on the backside of the restaurant if you don't want to pay for street parking out front.

Yelp
Ok so I gobbled up most of my meal before posting. This place is great!!! Locally owned and the owner was running the bar. She was so sweet, knowledgeable and service was . I can't believe I haven't been here before and look forward to coming back!

Kara H.

Yelp
I couldn't recommend this place more! The food is absolutely amazing, everything we have tried off the menu has been incredible! But the fried mozzarella is life changing. The restaurant is family owned and they do everything they can to make the dinning experience top tier. This is my husband and I's favorite restaurant.

Yelp
Living here in the Springs as long as I have, I'm shocked I'm just now finding this place! Firstly, I had the Spaghetti Pie and it was phenomenal, I cannot recommend this dish any more. My girlfriend got the eggplant Parmesan and it was delicious! Secondly, our server Parker gave us the best recommendation ever with the sauces on these dishes as well, (both meat sauce and carbonara sauces) and it changed the game. I've become a regular, and huge regards to Chef Dustin for killing it and Parker for being a phenomenal server. Finally, I appreciate the feel of the place. Small, quant, and comfortable little Italian spot. It really ties everything together. I will be back! Thank you Parker and Chef Dustin! (We only got the pictures of the Eggplant Parmesan and Cannoli, I ate the Spaghetti Pie too quickly.)

Yelp
Incredible food. Phenomenal drinks. Servers were thorough and knowledgeable on menu items. Definitely a hidden gem in Old Colorado City and must go to. Highly recommend over other Italian restaurants in the area

Yelp
I think I did a positive review on Dat' Italian some years back, even a year ago I was there and it was pretty good. My son and I went there for dinner last week and I was pretty disappointed. The food was ok nothing to brag about and the tiramisu was such a letdown. I like the ambience and the good service.it's a small place that can get pretty noisy. Reservations are recommended.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Without a doubt, the best Alfredo sauce I've had anywhere. Relaxed atmosphere. A win.

Kathryn K.

Yelp
Service was very slow and the food was mediocre. The meatballs were old and dried out. Spaghetti was store bought. Don't waste your money.

Maella P.

Yelp
What a great little find!! Highly recommend. Lasagna was amazing and the limoncello martini is to die for.

Yelp
2 strikes. First visit was not as bad as this one. Wife had shrimp scampi, which we didn't know was a soup. It had 4 shrimp, submerged in the thin liquid, and wasn't fully shelled. There were bits of pasta visible on the top of the soup, which she fished out. I had the sausage lasagna. I did encounter 3 pieces of sausage, which was a bonus because I choked on the amount of mozzarella cheese on the top. The lasagna noodles disintegrated in my mouth, there was no texture to them so my assumption is they were overcooked via boiling too long. Our first visit, my 100% Italian wife disagreed about their claim at the best eggplant Parmesan.

Joe R. L.

Yelp
We just got back from a dinner for two at Dat's Italian. It is a small family owned and run Italian restaurant with authentic family recipes. In our opinion it is the best intimate dining Italian restaurant in Colorado Springs. I had the lasagna with meat sauce, which was delicious and my wife had the chicken and pasta with white truffle sauce, one of my all-time favorites. Our server, Derek, was extremely friendly, very helpful and attentive. Great Italian food and a friendly family feel - Now - Dat's Italian!

Juliette C.

Yelp
Poor treatment. Ordered linguini and clams, my favorite, which I know well as a second generation Italian from New York. I've grown up eating this meal in my family home, restaurants and my own home. There was so much sand and slivers of shelves in the sauce, my companion could hear my teeth grinding. Believe it or not, I'm not a complainer. However, this was over the top. When I called attention to the quality of the food, our sever indicated he "might" take 1/2 off my entree if I ordered and paid for another. We left and will never return. Ps The name is ridiculous. Get real.

Yelp
Don't read the horrible reviews, as I was reading through them they were people complaining about minor things that made them seem entitled. If you want delicious food, great service, and support your local business this is the place to go! We came here after being turned down at Paravicini's and we still wanted Italian food. Thank god we stumbled accords this place because it was amazing. To start my whole table had a glass of wine and we eventually got a bottle to share, the price was right, $32 right in the middle. We were sat right away amid covid, they had reservation tables and 3 tables for walk ins which was a great way to do it to invite a wide variety of customers. The three entrees we got were the lasagna with meat sauce, one got the chicken Parmesan, and I had the chick pesto. Everyone loved their meal and was extremely satisfied. I was the one who had the chicken pesto. It was delicious, it had fettuccini noddles with lots of great quality chicken and some really yummy nuts. Everyone's meal also came with some bread that was delicious. We also got the meatballs as an appetizer, it came with two HUGE meatballs with a meat sauce and they were amazing. Definitely come here for amazing food. I will say they asked how long we'd be after we ate and paid but I hate doing that as I know when they're busy people should be seated. I just don't think the owner should have asked us but I'm not going to give reviews off for that.

Yelp
Good American style Italian restaurant. Lasagna was good and it is one of their signature dishes. Very crowded and the service was still good. The appetizer was really good. A fried patty of zucchini with Parmesan cheese and egg served with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.
google avatar

Rolen Y.

Yelp
I ate here as part of a group of nine people including two children. The food was some of the best Italian American dishes I've ever had. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent and really reminded me of a trip I took to Italy last year. A couple of other dishes that I would recommend are the clams and spaghetti and the mussels and spaghetti. The kids ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and they loved it. It's not the classic version but still a great dish prepared with care. The restaurant is operating under family ownership and management and they are very proud of "nonna's" recipes. The service was outstanding and they were careful to make sure we were happy with our choices. The restaurant itself is a classic looking place with artwork and photos of family. I can't wait to go back and get some of grandma's lasagna

Yelp
I was searching for a good Italian restaurant since my favorite one in Colorado Springs closed and the owners moved to Florida. We booked a table and we're seated on time. The service was good, but they were out of some pretty basic menu items such as lasagna and pancetta. I ordered the veal Parmesan. It was tough and overcooked. The accompanying pasta was good, as was the wine. I don't think I will return, although the zucchini appetizer was great. I never saw this item on a menu in Italy though!

Tatiana R.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely succulent and so, so scrumptious. Perfect portions of food! Very peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. If you close your eyes and taste the food, the wonderful flavor will literally transport you to ITALY! .. Delizioso e molto buono

Stacey M.

Yelp
It was ok. No great shakes. The wait staff was overwhelmed and forgot our bread and another person in our party received his food after the rest of us were done eating. Lots of room for improvement. Taste was not Chicago or New York Italian, but you are in Colorado. Take it for what it is worth.

Wayne W.

Yelp
Different family members took over restaurant Got bread for 4.50 but almost a whole loaf - enough for 4 people Muscles were great!!! Lasagna was cheesey but had plenty of meat sauce on the side. The cheese sauce combo they used was very tangy Caesar chicken salad was made with spring greens vs romaine but was pretty good Desserts are huge enough for 4 for couple bites each. Waiter friendly and helpful Monday night was near vacant around 715pm Good experience!!!

Yelp
Food was very authentic and substantial portions.. mozzarella appetizer was unbelievable.. Spagetti and meatballs with meat sauce was spot on.. unique Caesar salad was awesome. Our server/bartender Ozzie was very polite, informative and a great drink maker.. the perfect trifecta!! Don't miss out on this hidden gem with great service, ambiance and prices..

Mark P.

Yelp
Food was very good and the service was awesome and hostess very friendly. Better be hungry because the portions are very large. Try the mussels. they were EXCELLENT!

Heidi S.

Yelp
I ordered the spaghetti pie. It was excellent! Very flavorful. Not heavy like many restaurant dishes. The waitress was very friendly and gave great service. I also had the lemon cream cake for dessert which I fell in love with.

Kelton M.

Yelp
Our server Parker was such a beautiful soul and man. Got lost in his eyes and had a heck of a beard5/5. Music was so immaculate it transported me to Italy or downtown NYC. Not to mention forks had 3 FLIPPIN PRONGS really took me out of the western culture and put me out East. The candle were so lovely and really set the atmosphere. In addition the cozy corner was a wonderful place to be sat. Parker really read our hearts. The tiramisu stayed fresh and amazing and is perfect if you want to commute 1.5 hours to another town and eat it in a Texas road house/American furniture warehouse parking lot. Table was wobbly but it felt like rollercoaster in the best way possible.

Janie M.

Yelp
Very disappointed... this used to be our favorite place to eat in Old Colorado City. I had eggplant parmesan & the sauce was dried out while the eggplants were tasteless with shredded melted mozzarella (no Buffalo mozzarella which is how it's usually served). And a significant price increase which we wouldn't have minded had the quality been so poor. Service was also very slow & the restaurant was half empty.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dats Italian! We went for my daughter's birthday and we had a great time. The waiter, Noel Was awesome and very informative. Funny at the right times and knew everything we asked him. I will definitely go back

Gary C.

Yelp
Very authentic Italian that we really enjoyed. Room is very rustic, not really big...50 people would fill the place. Our server was working alone on a weeknight but did an outstanding job. We'll go there again.
google avatar

Misty M.

Yelp
Service was great! Our waiter was so sweet. Lasagna was the best we've ever tasted. Chicken pesto was so so and bland. I think there were only 2 men running the whole show. We sat near the kitchen, where rock music was loudly playing and the cook was singing. It was kinda funny, and weird, not what you'd expect a fine dining Italian experience to be. We would go back, but only for the lasagna.....and possibly get it to go.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
My husband is Italian and we both love Italian food. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Eggplant parmesan and the lasagna. Both were delicious. Then for dessert we ordered a cannoli and tiramisu, again, both were delicious. The cannoli was the best we had ever had. Nole, one of the waiters makes the filing. If you like almond flavored you'll love these cannoli! When we are done we asked about their meatballs. To our surprise they had pine nuts in them, which we love. So... we had to go back the next day and try them. They were amazing, so we ordered extra to take home with us. I had the chicken with truffle sauce. Yummy!!! Dats Italian is a must try! Eggplant Parm Chicken White Truffle Pancetta Trenette Lasagna Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures.

Trebor B.

Yelp
Great service and friendly staff. Local and a small family owned restaurant. This place is the n the heart of Old Colorado City so parking can sometimes be a challenge. The food is fantastic. A simple menu with simple Italian dishes. The wine list is decent and matches the menu well. A great place for date night! The cocktails here are ok, and unique. Definitely have to try the eggplant parmigiana, so good!!
google avatar

Dario R.

Yelp
The menu looks great with real Italian dishes. The meals do not come close to what was expected. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and I was served 4small slices of breaded fried eggplant. The spaghetti side was placed on TOP of a splash of gravy. I've never seen it served like this. Meatballs required a knife to cut them but they were tasty. Ambiance is nonexistent and service was very slow. We will not return. Personally I think the name is degrading to my Italian heritage!

Mark B.

Yelp
Wonderful place, very delicious food. Our server Katy provided phenomenal service. We are definitely coming back, this is our new favorite restaurant!

Rose Ann S.

Yelp
Food was very good, prices reasonable, atmosphere was nice, also had a fresh made cannoli and a lemon martini which was yummy.
google avatar

Inez F.

Yelp
Wow! Once again this place surpasses my expectations. We have been here quite a few times on our trips. This time we shared the Italian sausage pesto. What a wonderful flavor. The bread is great as well. My only suggestion is more sausage. Or get the shrimp or chicken pesto. But don't miss this gem.
google avatar

Lydia H.

Yelp
The other yelpers aren't kidding about the lasagna -- it's pretty good! I ordered mine with meat sauce since it's supposedly better. Service was good, though a little slow. The tiramisu is delicious!
google avatar

Adanna B.

Yelp
I really appreciated and loved the service! The waiter was super friendly! I wish the sauce in the pasta was a little more thicker and cheesier. I love the bow tie pasta and the broccoli! I just wish they had more vegan options and fun salads! Good time!

Yelp
The first time I came here 2 years ago, it was heaven. I have been dying to get back here since. My husband and I went last night for my birthday. We were sat immediately, but that is where the good stops. It took a long time to take our order but there was only 1 server for the entire restaurant. There were only 5 tables. It was 6 pm on a Friday night. The fact it was taking so long and pretty empty made us nervous and we considered leaving. I realllllly wish we had. We had fried mozzarella to begin. I had been dreaming about that mozzarella for 2 years now and omg! It was such a let down The breading was mushy and the middle was cold. Like a solid piece of mozzarella. 2 years ago it was so melty and perfect and the best thing I have ever ate. Yesterday was so gross we didn't even eat it. Next was our pasta. We got the shrimp carbonara and chicken white truffle something or other. My husband liked the flavor of his shrimp carb a lot but it was cold. He sent it back to get microwaved and my husband never, ever sends anything back. Hence us not sending back the disgusting mozzarella. My chicken white truffle was just VERY overcooked pasta, *yummy* sauce, roasted red tomatoes, and nooooo pancetta I didn't even eat the noodles. I ate my husband's dinner roll, my dinner roll, and the chicken that had very little flavor. The sauce was yummy though. I noticed other tables had gotten bread when they sat down. I wonder if this was an appetizer they ordered or our server was just too busy to bring us ours. By busy, i mean chatting behind the bar with the manager. Anyway, they gave us 2 free cannoli's. One for my bday and one for the food being terrible. I liked the cannoli but my husband did not. You really have to love the flavor of almond to enjoy this cannoli as almond is all you can taste. I'm including photos from 2 years ago and the exact same dish 2 years later (yesterday). I don't know what happened but I'll never go there again. It was so disappointing

Karina C.

Yelp
We were in the mode for Italian the other night and happened to be in OCC and thought if try this place. The place was not very busy at the time so the time to get our food was a bit long for how busy it was but not a deal breaker. My favorite thing to order at an Italian restaurant usually is the Chicken Parmesan so that's what I ordered. It was ok but nothing more for me. I felt like the breading was something I could have easily done at home. Now their garlic bread was yummy. Our waiter was not very attentive. Needless to say it wasn't the worse but certainly it the best. Not sure I'd return to be hones.

Enoch G.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! True Italian cuisine. Best cannoli's around! Love the little hint of almond. Make sure to call ahead or go online and reserve a table.

Karen S.

Yelp
This is a restaurant that has passed its prime. The food is not flavorful and isn't anything special. The menu seems to have been pared down to just a handful of entrees, so if you are looking for variety or a flavor profile other than marinara or carbonara, this is not the place to go. Be prepared to over pay for salad and bread, as neither comes with the entree. The bread is not made in house but you'll pay over $4 for a small baguette and $8 for a small garlic bread. The decor is tired and dated; the service was just okay.
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
Service was awesome! Cannolis were AMAZING! Thank you Dalton for such a great experience!

Daniela F.

Yelp
Omg! Short of words on HOW FREAKING DELICIOUS THIS WAS! Please don't kick me out I wanna live here! The kind of food they will leave you tired and SPEECHLESS and sleeping in heaven dude! TRY ANYTHING! And the SERVICE!!!! 10 out of 10! A truly MAMMA MIA!

Yelp
We were visiting from Ohio and had maybe sampled some of Colorado's finest 'recreational' gummy worms. Strangely started craving Italian food and found Dat's Italian very close to our lodging and in a great neighborhood / area we had previously visited that is full of shops and restaurants. The food was delicious, the wine recommended to us by our server was not, but the star of the show? Take home cannoli's. So good. Would return again and just have a beer or a wine of my own choosing.
