SAN DIEGO CITY GUIDE

"When restaurateur Scott Harris decided to open his latest restaurant concept, he and the team of chefs from Francesca’s Restaurants did their research. Although already experts in their own right for rustic, Italian cuisine in Chicago, the chefs traveled across the country, eating and tasting to discover how chefs nationwide defined this cuisine. Inspired by their travels, the team is proud to introduce the new wine bar and restaurant: Davanti Enoteca."

Ask for Alex! Amazing Food and Service. Had an awesome birthday dinner for my girlfriend here. The vibe is fantastic, but the real highlights were the food and our server, Alex. His recommendations were great – the ricotta in vodka sauce and the prosciutto pizza were both 10/10. Alex made sure we had a perfect evening. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion!

One of my wife's regulars at her bar in San Francisco recommended Davanti when he heard we were going to San Diego. The Focaccia was to DIE for. I wasn't expecting it to be anything special, but it was absolutely exquisite. Beef Carpaccio, Caprese Salad, and the Carne Pizza were all amazing. My wife ordered the Carpaccio and said it's one of the best she's had! FiL ordered a meatball sub and salad and was pleased. MiL ordered the Calamari, it was also pretty good.. though not spectacular. Overall great experience and very friendly and attentive service. 5 stars through and through. Came back a second time for the Focaccia and a Caprese Salad. Wonderful!! Happy Hour was great! Will absolutely be back to try the Davanti Burger.

The best thing about our experience was the appetizers. Me and my ladies loved the calamari and the bread with 🍯. I ordered the Genovese which was delicious, but I ate so much calamari I could only take a few bites. My girls all loved their dishes as well. Our least favorite part of dinner was by far the drinks. I ordered the Paloma which was overpowered by bitters, that’s all I could taste. My ladies ordered mojitos and they also said they taste was way off. I tasted one of them and it tasted like toothpaste ugh. She sent it back and my friend and I just sucked it up and drink ours. When you want to have good food and good drinks during a night out and one of those is a miss, it completely throws things off. Maybe just check that the bartender from the night of 7/18 knows what they are doing, Quality&Assurance. Service was pretty good, however, a few more table checks would’ve been appreciated especially after receiving my drink. Overall, glad we got to explain new spot now on to the next. 🥂

The food at Davanti Enoteca Little Italy was authentic and oh, so delicious! For starters, you simply must try the "Fried Roman Artichokes," "Roasted Beets," "Arugula Salad," and the "Foccacia Di Recco" which is served with a drizzled of hot honey! The "Cacio E Pepe" was a delectable spagettini entree tossed with a good portion of fennel sausage in a light buttery sauce and a light dusting of paremesan! The passion fruit Spritzer was a refreshing beverage with my meal.

Made a reservation about a week in advance for a Friday at 6:30 with 8 guests. Restaurant was fairly busy and did seem to have a wait at the door. Seated on the back patio - lovely art/murals and atmosphere. Everyone enjoyed their dishes: -Focaccia with Honey (good) -Cacio e Pepe (good) -Carbonara Risotto (good) -Wedge Salad (fairly small) -Rigatoni Vodka (good) -Burger (delicious!) -Carajillo (decent)

Love this place!!! The food was delicious, the service was AMAZING. Alex was our server, he was so friendly and kind. And he made sure to warn us about happy hour ending, and suggested we could double order a round while it was cheap. So so good, I would definitely come back here again.

If you’re looking for a fantastic spot for happy hour, this Italian restaurant is a must-try! They offer happy hour daily from 3 pm to 6 pm (excluding holidays), and the deals are hard to beat. The drink specials include $5 beers, $6 wines by the glass, and $9 gin or vodka martinis—perfect for anyone who loves a good dirty martini with blue cheese-stuffed olives, like I do! The happy hour food menu is equally impressive, featuring delicious options like the meatballs, Roman artichokes, pizza of the day, and the Davanti Burger. I’ve tried them all, and they’re all worth recommending. It’s a great spot for a casual hangout with excellent drinks and food to match. Highly recommend stopping by!

Stopped by Davanti Enoteca for dinner after work, prime Little Italy location and a cozy spot to unwind. The host at the door was super welcoming, and the whole staff had great energy. Definitely a team that knows how to treat guests right, which I really appreciated. I decided to go big and ordered the Fettine di Manzo, one of the pricier items on the menu, along with a glass of red wine. Unfortunately, the dish didn’t live up to the price tag. It came overloaded with big chunks of onions, the potatoes were so small they basically disappeared, and the rest of the veggies were overcooked to the point that I honestly couldn’t tell what they were. The flavors just didn’t come together in a satisfying way, and I ended up grabbing a slice of pizza next door because I left feeling hungry. I truly hope the kitchen tightens up the execution, because the staff seems like good people and the atmosphere is on point. Wishing them the best and hoping for improvements.

Yelp
This is a cute place off the busy street in Little Italy, it has a cute smaller patio area which allows for people watching. Visited during a weekend during lunch time, we were seated quickly and had a waitress throughout our visit. The food was good, our entrees came out at different times which our waitress stated informed us of....so my pasta was not as warm due to politely waiting for my husband's entree to come out 10-12 minutes later. However once it arrived he did say it was good and my Cacio e Pepe pasta was flavorful. I would have rated our visit higher however we waited almost 20 minutes before our waitress came to check in on us and give us our check. To be fair I don't think it was her fault as we only saw 2 waitresses throughout our 45-1hr stay, the timing was very noticeable.

Yelp
Yummy, cheap and daily HH alert Swung by with a friend post-work for some delicious Italian eats. Had a lovely time on the patio cozying up to a heat lamp and splitting the meatballs, Cacio e Pepe and bruschetta. The meatballs and pasta were especially divine and the total bill was under $30. Sorprendente! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This was a great experience in little Italy. Sitting outside on the patio and watching holiday visitors bustling up and down the street. The food and the service was as excellent as the atmosphere. We plan on visiting again.

Yelp
Walking around little Italy in San Diego and there must be 20 pizza spots. Not even sure how many times we walked back and forth deciding where to grab a slice. The staff here were very friendly and welcoming so we went here. Went with a meat combo pizza. Not sure what to really call this style of pizza but I like it. Crust was nice and crispy and the sauce had a little bit of a kick. Staff was very nice and were very patient with us. Overall a very good experience.

Yelp
Came here for my birthday dinner in Little Italy and had a fantastic meal. They offer cacio e pepe which is one of my favorite pasta dishes so I just had to order it. We started with their calamari which is served with a spicy Calabrian aioli sauce. Cooked to perfection because you could still taste the tender calamari. Our entrees were delicious and enjoyed and our server Delana was fantastic too! For my birthday they offered a complimentary tiramisu which complimented a perfect meal. All in all a wonderful birthday dinner in Little Italy.

Yelp
A wonderful little enoteca right in the middle of lively Little Italy.. So good we had dinner there two nights. The Cacio e Pepe was excellent as was the Gnocchi Tartufo. We shared the fried Roman artichoke appetizer. There is a bar one one side and a small dining area on the other. I highly recommend Favanti Enoteca. 106

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were in Little Italy this weekend. We were looking around for a breakfast/brunch spot. We checked Davanti's menu. We got sat immediately, Irene was our server and she was very kind and gave us great recommendations. Breakfast was sooo yummy. We both enjoyed it. The ricotta pancakes were okay. The patio in the side of the restaurant was nice, cute views.

Yelp
It's a good option in the heart of Little Italy. We enjoyed sitting outside on a nice sunny day. As we sat down, we passed a table and asked the host what they had that looked so good, it's their signature focaccia, so we had to try it. It's flaky and crispy, filled with 3 kinds of cream cheese and you drizzle honeycomb on top. It's rich but yummy. We ordered a salmon salad and brisket sandwich for lunch. The salad was the better of those dishes by far, salmon is a small portion, but nice and crispy and well seasoned. The brisket sandwich was disappointing; I wouldn't order that again. The meat just wasn't great (extra fatty and lacking flavor and I love brisket), there wasn't enough horseradish aioli and the picked onions were the overwhelming flavor. The Parmesan fries were good though.

Yelp
The food and ambience is great! Service was great too, very friendly, accommodating and checked in on our table several times. Definitely returning.

Yelp
Went here for a work holiday lunch, great pizza, appetizers and pasta. Loved the passionfruit spritz and service was great also. Next to lots of other Italian restaurants as well in little Italy. Id recommend parking a little far and walking here, sometimes it's difficult to find parking nearby.

Yelp
I was strolling along Little Italy late afternoon and wanting a sunny spot to relax, soak up some sun, enjoy food and people watch. This seemed like a great spot. Colorful red and white striped umbrellas and orange chairs created a fun outdoor atmosphere. Server was personable with a great sense of humor. Checked in on me several times without being intrusive. They have vegetarian options but not much in the way of vegan options. You could ask to remove the cheese for several items but I felt it might ruin the dishes. I went with a bruschetta they had on lunch special and a simple arugula salad. My light meal was delicious! Arugula salad was peppery, the white balsamic vinaigrette tangy, and the Marcona almonds crunchy. A great little salad! The bruschetta was also unique! Creamy ricotta base, tender ribbon of grilled zucchini on top, and drizzled with a honey and white balsamic reduction. All atop grilled bread drizzled in olive oil. The flavors and textures in my mouth were superb!

Yelp
Stopped by for an early lunch and found this place in little Italy. The food was great - our favorite was the Focaccia bread with cheese and honey, we will definitely be trying to recreate that at home!! Nice seating and quick service, our server was very sweet. Overall a nice place to stop if your in the area!

Yelp
One of our favorite spots to stop by every time we are in San Diego. the focaccia bread is everything! you must come here with a few friends so you can order everything and share... service has always been great and we love sitting on both the patios - the front and the back for people watching. We always get their pizza! Their cacio pepe is also delicious ! If you re able to come by during happy hour - they have some pretty sweet deals for the pizza and pastas...

Yelp
We love this place for Happy Hour in Little Italy. They have great drinks and food specials. I believe it's from 3-6pm daily. The paloma spritz is not on the happy hour menu but it's delicious. Food is consistent and always good. We also usually order the focaccia with ricotta cheese and honey, the creamy polenta with ragu, and a pizza or two. There's a lot of seating inside as well as a nice outdoor patio in front and in the back. I prefer the back patio. It's less noisy and prettier too.

Yelp
We were warmly greeted by the host and were quickly seated for dinner! Love the rustic Italian decoration as it made the restaurant feel welcoming and warm! We ordered the whipped ricotta as the appetizer which was the star of the show! The whipped ricotta was so smooth and creamy it almost tasted like butter, which went well with the tomatoes and the warm toast. The pasta and pizza were also pretty good! I wish the pizza crust was a bit thicker since it kinda flopped down when you grab a slice. Will be a returning customer if I'm in the area again :)

Yelp
Great happy hour! We got one of everything on the menu and everything came out incredibly fast. The server took a little longer to get to us because they were busy but very welcoming. They have outdoor sitting by fires and the inside is dimly lit and cozy but you sit very close to other tables. Would come back!

Yelp
Wow! Thought I was I really in Italy but then I realized the pizza, fried artichokes, honeycomb & focaccia (a must order) and Cacio de peppa was what we were looking for when we were in Rome. We've eaten her twice and each time from the service, food quality and taste of what Italy should have tasted like, this restaurant does not disappoint! It is set in Little Italy so it's lively, vibrant and a perfect stop after walking around. There are so many menu choices and when we return we will try something new each time.

Yelp
We were craving for some pastas and saw this restaurant while walking by. Spacious interior and they even have a separate Mimosa bar and Bloody Mary bar to make your own cocktails! We ordered: -Bruschetta: It's pretty good just like what a bruschetta should be. -Polenta & Ragu: I have never try polenta so it wasn't what I was expecting, but the beef was flavorful and tender. -Spaghetti Bolognese: Wow, this dish I likey! It was just what I was craving for, a nice hearty plate of spaghetti. I think this was the best dish we ordered overall. -Rigatoni Alla Vodka: This pasta was just ok. The noodle was a bit too hard for me. Overall, it's a decent Italian restaurant. And our waiter was super awesome and attentive. He kept refilling our drinks.

Yelp
We went for my friends birthday. Unfortunately they lost our reservation and we ended up being seated half an hour later. My husband and I ordered the steak to split. The taste was good until I bit into something super hard. Unfortunately a large piece of plastic ended up in our potatoes. We immediately told the manager and they took the steak off our receipt. We ended up trying the Frutti De Mare as we didn't want to try another steak. They ended up charging us for the pasta and never apologized about the plastic. Food was okay but definitely didn't live up to the expectation.

Yelp
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! Let me be 100% clear... Davanti Enoteca HAS ONE OF THEE BEST BURGERS IN ALL OF SAN DIEGO! I'm talkin' easily TOP 5 and it's not 5. That means say goodbye to thinnie Minnie smash burgers and adios to famous OB burger bros. D.E.'s burger is special in a number of ways, so let me break it down. My burger metrics are as follows: Bun- it has to be top notch, likely brioche, as it's the first layer that hits your palate. It must be soft, but also robust enough to stand up to the concoction inside. Cheese- it's gotta have cheese, and usually, the fancier the better. Love a good cheese pull but it's not a must. Sauce- sauce is essential and must compliment the whole composition. Toppings - Fresh, Fresh, Fresh The Meats- I'ma thick burger guy, so I gotta have a thick and SEASONED patty that's cooked to a perfect medium. Now that you know the metrics, I'm happy to report that D.E.s burger hit 5/5 in all categories. Smashin' bun, slammin' flattop seared cheese curds, fantastic garlicky aioli, out of this world toppings -arugula, bacon jam, and roasted tomatoes, and most importantly, an incredible and juicy thick patty!!! If you haven't tried one, you're most definitely missing out. Oh and that Focaccia di Recco, also a unique and delicious experience. If you're looking for an appetizer, I highly recommend that one. Top it all off with excellent customer service from the bearded wonder, Mike, and you've got yourself a filling, and fulfilling, experience. Davanti Enoteca, thanks for staying the same in all the right ways! Kudos to all the staff and ownership!

Yelp
I dined with my Girlfriend and her family who was visiting San Diego. When they come down here they always tell me that all they order for each of them is the Foccacia with a blend of Italian cheeses in the middle. I finally got to try it and it was some of the best bread I've had! It was a crunchy outside and soft inside with great cheeses and a honeycomb you can top to add a slight sweetness to the bread. For myself, I got the Gnocchi with Truffle cream sauce and it was amazing! A perfect portion with lots of mushrooms and garlic. Our server was very nice and accommodating for the entire group. We were also able to eat in their back patio in their cabana style looking tables which added to our dining experience.

Yelp
Come join Jim and Jasmine Tritten, Mark Fleisher, Jack and Alice London, and Joe Badal (watch until the bitter end for Joe's outtake) as they visit Davanti Enoteca San Diego in the heart of San Diego's Little Italy. We had a most extraordinary culinary experience with superb Italian food and impeccable service by Roberta in a festive setting worth the trip. Now, we only had to go on a short Uber ride from our Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) conference to a restaurant recommended by Adam Card, who had been stationed at NAS North Island. This one is the best restaurant we have ever reported on in the past years. Yes, the best. Could not have been better. Just click on the following YouTube link and see our report. Most highly recommended. https://youtu.be/McJYLWySR_g?si=MvCN6t77HlabEsVy

Yelp
Located in lovely Little Italy where walkability has high ratings, Davanti is right in there amongst many other eateries. Be sure not to miss them. Quite honestly we ended up here after being told that the place we were originally planning to go to had a two hour wait. We fished it out by looking at menus as we walked down sidewalk. We came in near the end of brunch, after first checking out their menu outside. We were given full water glasses and carafe of water almost immediately. We mentioned we would like to know if it was too late to order brunch and were told we still had time. Phew! But then the waitress doesn't come for a while (I'm sure it was way less time than it felt like while my internal ticking clock to order brunch was counting down) so when she arrives we order brunch right away then asked for decaf coffee at the end. Again, phew! The food came out pretty quickly (sorry I didn't time them). Immediately I thought, "wow that was fast" (took two photos) ..."but how does my drink take longer than the food?" Side note: Now, I know people may immediately discount my review because I drink decaf, but hear me out, this is the only way I am allowed to have coffee and gosh darn it I'll have my coffee one way or another. After I take a couple bites, one of the bus boys (what is the new more improved way to title this job??) walked by and I asked about my coffee. He went to the back and came back and told me it was coming shortly. Seriously, if they had told me they had to make a new pot of coffee cause it was decaf, I would've understood. There was no explanation though. When they brought the coffee... I think they might've said something like "sorry for the delay" or "here you go" (I'm pretty sure it was the latter) but honestly I don't remember. Weird that I don't remember, I know, but I'm just not sure that she apologized. Not a big deal. At that point I'm realizing that I'm very surprised how good my food was and then very surprised about how good the decaf was! I loved the crab bennys. Real crab of course, toasty, creamy, delicate yum! My husband tried them and audibly "mmmmmmm"d when he tried them. The potatoes were roasted baby potatoes. They were "rustic" which I appreciated but the needing something (more salt, and maybe smash them?). My hubby said he would order the brisket hash again. He really enjoyed it. I did have a taste and it def would be on my next order so I could have the full experience. This one is def going in my back pocket (aka my yelp collection) of places I would like to return to!

Yelp
I would not bring a large group here again. While it would have been fine it took a long time to seat us for our 5:30 reservation, we missed the window to order the 3-6 o'clock happy hour menu, which was upsetting. Our server's "temporary fill in" came at 5:56, introduced himself, said, "I'll let you get yourselves situated," ran off for 10 minutes before telling us we were too late for the happy hour! I understand large groups can be hard to manage, and it did take us doing a little bending to get multiple tables for our party since the original table was too small, but honestly half our party showed up late so it wasn't a problem otherwise really. What makes me appreciate this place was the focaccia. It was really tasty and unique! The food otherwise was on par for good Italian and our waiter, once he finally got to us, was super friendly. The whole gimmick that they take your picture, print it out, and try to get you to pay for it was peak wasteful tourist nonsense -- and it worked for a few in our group. Pretty funny honestly.

Yelp
Sea Urchin and Crab Pasta. They use to have this item, but no longer. Sad. Came back recently and while I could not order my uni pasta, I still had a great meal. Tuesday = half off wine bottles. Really enjoyed the Cabernet Napa cellars. (65/2) Today, ordered the: egg yolk toast. DELICIOUS, best toast ever. Half chicken. Best chicken ever. Incredibly juicy. Prosciutto and arugula pizza. Was just ok. Will keep this place as one of my fav Italian spots.

Yelp
After an internal struggle I bumped this down to 3 stars, but it was close. I liked the flavor of the cacio e pepe, and the sausage was a nice chunky flavorful fennel sausage that went well. The service was prompt (though we were the only ones there as a late lunch) and feel of the place was very open and playfully decorated. It was nice being inside but having the open air to outside while we ate. The main reason I dropped stars was the food just wasn't memorable for the price. The pasta was overly al dente to the point it had the tiniest amount of a chalky undercooked bite to it instead of just firmness. My late teenager is usually ravenous on any tube pasta with a spiced red sauce but he left some behind and called out the chalkiness too. He also said the sauce was really light and I saw him dumping extra red peppers and cheese to bring out some depth. A subtle sauce is ok, but it should still have some more flavor to it than this had.

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. It happened to be during Little Italy's tree lighting Christmas festival. We were afraid that there would be a long waitlist as when we walked through the streets every restaurant was packed. We waited about 30 minutes before checking in again and our table was ready. We ordered a bottle of the "satellite" sauce blanc and that was absolutely crisp and delicious. We ordered the whipped ricotta and that was so creamy and the tomato and olive served for a great balance adding saltiness to the mix. The bread to ricotta ratio was off though we had a lot of ricotta left over. I ordered the rigatoni with chicken, my friends ordered the cacio e Pepe and the gnocchi. The gnocchi was very flavorful and the cacio e Pepe was a simple classic. The rigatoni was tasty with the vodka sauce, however the chicken was dry and needed to be sent back. The waiter was nice and understanding and accommodated us nicely, he even gave us recommendations of where we should go after.

Yelp
We stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon after seeing a play at the Civic Theater for their happy hour and were so impressed by the quality of the food and quantity. It was such a good value. We got the cacio e Pepe pasta and meatballs and both were delicious! Parking is street parking only, but meters are free on Sundays which made it easy.

Yelp
This was a super cute place in the middle of little Italy. My friend had recommended it as an option before a concert at the Rady Shelly Theater. We got there in time for happy hour Avero it was still very quiet. I think there was only two other people in the restaurant. Despite being slow, they were ready to accommodate us. We set up outside in the back patio. We began with happy hour meatballs and pizza. We also got the whipped ricotta which was not on the happy hour menu, but we couldn't help ourselves. My favorite definitely was the ricotta and meatballs. We ended the meal with Tiramisu dessert and espresso martinis. I was thinking if we had more time I would've had a second martini for sure . It would be interesting to see this place in the evening when it's more crowded . We left full, happy and ready to rock!

Yelp
My friends and I had such a great experience here! The decor and atmosphere is so fun. We sat on the back patio in one of the large booths. They had such interesting decor with a large mural, bike and greenery. Food was awesome. We all enjoyed our dishes. Loved both the pizzas and pasta. Such good flavor, especially in the sauces. Our waitress was very sweet and helped us order and gave great recommendations. We will be back!

Yelp
Top tier Italian food. I had the carne pizza. Superb. Meat was excellent. High Quality. Crust was perfect. Sauce was perfectly balanced. One of the best pizzas. Service was seamless. Had several people help us through the course of the night, but the handoffs were seamless. Very good teamwork. The place has different type of seating areas. A few booths, some tables. Some outside street seating and some outdoor seating in the back.

Yelp
Food: good for one serving. No substitutions. Good happy hour. Service: good service. Ambiance: no air conditioning, but overall good.

Yelp
Been here twice! Once for mimosas before brunch and the second for dinner! The mimosa bar is a fun activity, you get to make your own! For dinner: had the "crack bread", it was really good, but I had really high hopes for it because of other reviews. It was skinny and a little crispy and dry but the flavor was good ! I had the pasta with sausage and that was really good and I would get it again! There is a man who walks around taking pictures, i don't know if he works for the restaurant or if they contract out but it was really uncomfortable that he kept coming back. We couldn't tell if it was a paid thing or if they use the photos for promotions so we were confused and uncomfortable with our picture being taken and potentially used. Overall really like this restaurant and would go back!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant! The service , the food and ambiance were awesome. Went for a birthday celebration and all the staff were very attentive but not overwhelming. The food.... Wonderful. Had the burata appetizer and calamari. Both very fresh and tasty. For the main course , we had the octopus with red sauce and potatoes, which was divine! Papelito was my drink - delicious. We did a few deserts - chocolate cake and tiramisu - very fresh and tasty. Definitely would return !

Yelp
Stopped in little Italy for a late lunch and decided on Davanti! I've been to the one in Del Mar so many times but not this location. Happy hour had just started so we mainly ordered off this menu. We ordered the meatballs, grilled artichokes, the cacio e pepe, and of course, the focaccia with soft cheese and honey comb. The focaccia is always my favorite, but everything else we ordered was just as delicious. The artichokes were grilled perfectly and the sauce it came with had a good spice to it. I didn't realize their happy hour prices were so good but now that I do, I'll definitely be coming back very soon!

Yelp
Relatives brought us here after a long day of air travel. We sat outside with umbrella for shade. Only minor draw back was that table was close to passers-by - lots of dogs on walks. Not unbearable though. First up the refreshing Elderflower spritzer. I could have guzzled more than one! Staff were friendly and attentive. Pictures are our starters. We had main courses and left overs to bring home.

Yelp
I lived in Chicago for 20 years, and visited the location in Little Italy there many times with my family. We went there enough times to have favorites, and some fantastic memories were made there. This week we were at a work meeting in town, and we were struggling to find locations to arrange for group dinners. I originally suggested Herb and Wood, and Nobu- but we had issues getting our group and timing to work (or in some cases, getting a response). I saw there was a location of DE here and a huge smile broke out on my face. I called and set up a reservation for our team for Tuesday evening at 6:30. We all arrived at the location which is a fantastic location to spend time and have a few drinks or food to enjoy at various spots. This particular location is beautiful. Larger than the one in Chicago, with an outside patio that has heating lamps, covers, and even trees within the tables to give you that relaxed "eating in your backyard on the patio" feel. Our server Megan was excellent. She took our drink order, gave some recommendations as we asked for them, and also made sure nobody needed anything whenever something was getting low. (water, alcoholic beverages, etc) My family ALWAYS gets the foccacia de recco. It's hard to describe, so thin and crispy yet they slice it in half across the entire piece so they can fill it with super creamy ricotta cheese and then the coup de grace is the honeycomb that's offered for people to drizzle over their portions. Our manager ordered the whipped ricotta with honey comb and Tuscan toast. As soon as our focaccia showed up I decided to order the other side of the table their own whipped ricotta since I clearly didn't want to share . It ended up working out since there was more ricotta than toast so we spread even more of the goodness on the focaccia. I went with my go to dish, the Cacio e Pepe which is fresh grated Pecorino Romano cheese, freshly grated black pepper, and house made bucatini. Something so simple but executed perfectly made for a truly enjoyable dish. I added fennel sausage to it, giving it more protein and heft. Portion sizes aren't large so if that's your goal (leftovers, etc) this isn't for you. Everyone was so happy with the dinner I was feeling pretty good about the choice to come here. Thanks to the team at Davanti Enoteca for a great evening! Our table wasn't standard we had a large square booth with one side having chairs and the others squeezing into the other 3 sides of the area. I was comfortable but I think the ones closest to the heat lamps were hot. Not a deal breaker they didn't say anything until the end. I didn't take many photos. But just know everything was plated beautifully and every one on my team was so pleased with dinner. Thank you to the team here at Davanti Enoteca!

Yelp
Honestly I come here for the Focaccia Di Recco Honeycomb situation. The ricotta one is delicious as well. Service is great! Ambiance is nice I like the outdoor patio. But honestly I'm here for the honeycomb cheese breaaaad. So good.

Yelp
Pretty mid experience overall but still had a great dinner out with my partner and his cousins! Food: Whipped ricotta - 9/10 was probably the best thing we had! It wasn't amazing, but they give a huge amount of the ricotta which was tasty -- strange they gave only 4 pieces of toast though Rigatoni alla vodka - 5/10 Missing the vodka sauce much? It was like rigatoni pasta with a splash of vodka sauce. Ask for extra sauce if you order this because they barely put it on there. Had way better vodka pastas elsewhere in Little Italy Meatballs alla nonna - 8/10 Most flavorful thing, but still not impressive as other meatballs we've had in NYC/SF Orecchiete con salccicia - 6/10 Better flavor than the rigatoni but odd that the pasta is super al dente, couldn't get past it -- feel like most people would notice this too The ambiance inside looks nice but we were sat outside due to peak dinner reservation time. Feels like inside would've been a better experience. Michael was a very polite server but service was not attentive and slow at times. Would not come back, would suggest Allegro instead!

Yelp
Not sure how my friend and I missed bottomless mimosas on the brunch menu but lil station where you can make it looked absolutely fabulous. Now I feel obligated to come back and check it out. You know, so I can report back here :D Food was very filling and portions were large.

Yelp
Came here last night with a group of 9 and overall had a great experience. We got the artichoke, bruschetta, whipped ricotta, and a cheesy bread appetizer and they were all great! My husband and I shared the rigattoni with vodka sauce and it was good but needed some more salt and flavor. The gnocchi with sausage was a 20/10 flavor bomb. Highly recommend it. Service was super good as well- we would definately go back.

Yelp
This was the only Italian restaurant that had seats on a busy weekend in little Italy. The gnocchi was a little disappointing, it was undercooked and a little cold on the inside, but the sauce was good.

Yelp
This Italian spot sure knows how to stand out on a road filled with Italian spots! The service was great. We stopped by for a quick drink and an appetizer. The espresso martini was one of the best I have ever had. The coffee flavor was strong and not overpowered with alcohol. Our whipped ricotta was delicious as well. 10/10 would recommend!
