Dave's Hot Chicken

I’m a professional traveler. In the last 24 days I have been in 13 different states, 2 countries, and 2 provinces. When I say this was the best food decision I have made all month, believe it. The chicken had a very special taste full of flavor. Had a crispy outside, and juicy inside. The fries were great also. Seasoned perfectly and didn’t need any ketchup. Counter staff was super friendly and food was served quickly and hot. Quiet inside, with some relaxing background music.

I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to write a good one because of the good service. Me and my friend ordered very last minute before the store closed, but the worker was very friendly and nice. We appreciated it! Also, the sandwich was sooo good. The chicken was huge! I recommend the hot spicy level if you want to taste some spice because “medium” was a little mild for me. I love their pickles and honey+ Dave’s sauce combo😍

Dave’s hot chicken is always a go-to when I want to cheat on my diet. It’s really delicious and good, specially if you ask for honey and add it on the spicy chicken. One thing about this exact location though, is that I always order “hot” in dave’s hot chicken, but they brought me something more spicy than usual. I guess they made a mistake and it was “very hot”. Just so you know!

Wow wow wow. What an amazing place. Delicious food! Friendly staff! And despite the zombies wandering around, it is super clean location! 100% worth trying.

Good food. love the extra pickles they add on the side. Good price $12.06 for a decent amount. Just be patient with the evening/night shift as they get busy and work hard to get all orders in.

I bought the #1 2 chicken tenders + fries EXTRA HOT & believe me, it was HOTTT!! TOO HOT!! Gave me a stomach ache and diarrhea for the rest of the night. Don't know if I'll ever eat there again.??

Dave's Hot Chicken is --crispy, juicy chicken you can spice up from mild to Reaper, massive sliders, perfect fries, crunchy pickles & slaw, and that addictive Dave's Sauce. Fast, friendly service and a chill vibe must-try!

I had Dave's Hot chicken yesterday and it was so good! It's not my first time but second time around and it still did not disappoint! The texture of the chicken is so good and it's not too much breading but has a good amount of meat inside. The area is not bad just a little chaotic at night. The Mac & Cheese is good I'm a big ma and cheese lover so I like mine a little thick ,creamy. But the Mac n cheese is a good amount of creamy not too watery and a good well cooked texture! Flavor wise 6/10 Texture/cooked wise 7.5-10 Overall the food is really good and would eat here again! And don't forget thier sauce It's really good! A must with the chicken!

Honestly, I am super disappointed in Dave's Hot Chicken. I had high hopes because of all the hype, but this was not it. The chicken was way too salty, like they dumped the whole shaker on it. I like heat, but the spice level wasn't even enjoyable -- just made my mouth burn without any flavor payoff. Also, the line took forever even though it wasn't that busy. Staff seemed kind of out of it and disorganized. By the time I got my food, the fries were soggy and cold. For the price, you'd think they'd at least try to make it fresh. Not sure what everyone's raving about -- I've had way better hot chicken at local spots without the attitude and chaos. Wouldn't go back. Overall, I do not recommend Dave's Hot Chicken!

Dave's Hot Chicken is a wildly popular fast food franchised spicy fried chicken joint that originated in L.A.'s East Hollywood. The late night hours loved by the post-partying club goers fueled their growth and popularity. DHC offers their spice levels no spice, medium, hot, extra-hot to sign-a-waiver Reaper hot in chicken tenders, sliders, or a single tender on a slice of bread, pickles & extra sauce on the side. They've even reached out to vegetarians by introducing the DAVE'S NOT CHICKEN (CAULI)™! Their locations in L.A. actually mirror what you'd find in a dark, dive bar with black walls, loud music greeting you as you walk in. Counter staff is pretty good about clarifying the spice levels for your order but definitely know what you're ordering. I'm not one for the Reaper spice level at all but I'll order the tenders w/medium to hot spice level. Extra sauce helps, and lots of any icy, cold beverage nearby. DHC's expanded into the Bay Area, and to other states, the last few years but I'd like to leave my Dave's Hot Chicken visits in L.A. See you there!

UPDATE (July 16, 2025): I'm updating my previous 5-star review to 2 star after my recent experience. I ordered my usual 2 slider meal online on 7/16/2025 and specifically requested the sliders hot, but there was absolutely zero spice - completely bland. Despite only 3 people waiting for pickup and 2 dining in, it took an unusually long time to get my order. To make matters worse, they gave me Dave's sauce in these tiny plastic cups (like soy sauce containers) instead of the proper sauce packets - which is ridiculous for an online order. This was my first visit since Dave's was acquired by a private equity firm, and the decline in quality and service is immediately noticeable. Most of the original staff were laid off, and it shows. What used to be reliable, spicy chicken is now bland and disappointing. Unfortunately, since the corporate buyout, the quality and service have completely deteriorated. Very disappointed.

First time trying Dave's Hot Chicken! I tried the hot chicken sandwich with fries! The cheese fries were fire, I would eat that regularly! The chicken sandwich was tasty, but it was a lot smaller than I was expecting. I finished the meal pretty hungry so I'm not sure if this would beat out other chicken places for me

Dave's hot chicken is my go to for decent but highly affordable chicken sandwiches. I happened to see that this one was close to me so I stopped by. Parking is in the back and is quite expensive without validation. DAVES DOES NOT VALIDATE UNTIL AFTER 5PM. I ordered a #4 slider with fries. My only expectation is the chicken is crispy, has coleslaw, and a soft bun. This location hit all the criteria and I could ask for nothing more. Their crinkle cut fries are also very crispy. Overall, nothing outstanding but still good food. I don't come to these fast food places expecting stellar service so that doesn't matter to me. The food is great for what I paid, $10.99, and I was satisfied.

After I bought food from them, I got indigestion. I think it's completely unsanitary.

My partner and I had a long day, and he decided to take me to this busy joint as we were coming back from the LAX area. It was my second time having Daves Hot Chicken, and it was a good experience overall. The menu is very straightforward and easy to navigate. I also ordered a side of the mac and cheese with two orders of two sliders and fries. We both got medium spicy levels for our orders. We were just being on the safe side, but it was not spicy at all. It's ok, we still enjoyed our meals. The place was busy, especially on Halloween night; it was a lovely way to end the evening. Thank you to the workers who assisted and accommodated us. We will be back

This place was our to go store. We love their chicken. Very yummy. But parking is a problem there. Always nice staff.

Great! Came in late @ 11pm and the service was quick and kind! I was greeted by a lovely kind person, Jaharia at the register was super helpful and didn't care when i changed my mind lol. David was so fast and locked in when it got busy. Dream duo working tonight.

I love their spicy chickens it has a lot of flavor in it. The customer service is actually good. One of the top places to check out in Korea town.

1 Star - Uncomfortable Tip Request I was asked to look at the screen right after placing my order, before even receiving my food. This felt very uncomfortable and is not acceptable. Not only your food is bad and quality went a lot down in couple years, now this? lost another customer.. Btw at least somehow dry your oily chicken its sssoooo much oil inside Wanna taste great spots like this try HOWLINS or knuckin chicken They are simmilar and taste times times better

Medium was barely spicy (for me). Not as spicy (or as good) as Angry Chickz' medium. No spices on fries, like Angry Chickz. Acceptable but not up to par with some other similar restaurants.

Crème de le crème of chicken shops in LA. Everybody wants a piece of Dave's hot chicken! Their special sauce is key. And the size of the chicken tenders is unforgettable. I love the cheese fries as well. Good luck parking at this location lol.

Came around 7:30p on a Friday and there was a small line. The shop is pretty small but there's ample dine in seating. Service was quick tho only about 5minutes for order to be ready. 10/10 Reaper Slider $6.69 - Chicken was amazing! Well coated, juicy, tender, and still crispy. Slaw was fresh and their sauce goes so well with it. Sliders are pretty sizable. I got 2 reapers and and the first was 3/10 spicy like there was a small kick but the second was 9/10 like I needed 3 water cups lol not sure why the spice difference for the same order.

Always yummy, greasy, and disgustingly full of guilt DELICIOUS. Go after you workout so you won't feel so terrible about clogging a few of your arteries and having to open your dress pants. You definitely don't wanna come here for your lunch break, the food coma it puts you in is REAL. Totally worth the farts it gives you, not mad at all, give me more sliders and a side of diapers.

The food at daves hot chicken is visit worthy. Go out of your way! Major American establishment. Dont delay to visit and eat.

The DHC in Ktown is the best one!! Seriously I've been to many locations including the bay area and nothing beats this one. The chicken is always cooked just right. Juicy and crispy!! The quality is consistently amazing unlike other locations. The customer service is A1 and the wait is never too long even when the place is packed. Never ever change!!!

First time trying Dave's and honestly I give it a 10/10. Tender and juicy chicken! My daughter always raves about this place and she's not wrong lol

Some of the best Dave's Hot Chicken I've ever had hands down, so good! There was no line at all just the staff. They were all nice and the restaurant was clean. I spent a total of 7 minutes in the store and that's with putting my order in and getting it for takeout. Definitely will be coming back

Wow, did I mention WOW. Finally made it in here after hearing all the rave reviews from my friends. It's tucked away on the corner of a strip mall in K town on Wilshire Blvd. the area is busy and parking may be a challenge but it's worth the little hassle. The menu is simple...chicken and more chicken sandwiches with your choice of side and your level of heat. I went for the two strips and fries, medium level heat. The fries were crispy and the chicken was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. The heat level was adequate for a medium level. Next time I'll take it up a notch. The lunch meal was just right. The location is clean, the menu is easy to ready and the prices are ok. Service is fast and friendly. Would I got back? Most definitely. Great job Dave's !!! K town is lucky to have you.

If you like crunchy, yet juicy chicken with a little kick, then Dave's is the spot! It's the place I always think of whenever I crave a spicy chicken sandwich. I come here pretty often and it's usually very consistent and good!

I LOVE DAVE's CHICKEN! They have yet to disappoint me. I've ordered from Dave's over 5 times and I don't have anything bad to say about my orders. I am so stuffed from the 2 choice chicken sliders with side of fries and I get this every time. Medium spice chicken. They include the dave's sauces in packets now which is a major plus. I don't use too much sauce but they throw it in the bag for you anyways and I appreciate that gesture. They care. Their slaw is good and so is their Mac n Cheese. Personally, I think their fries are the better option. If you want, you can totally get the mac n cheese and stuff it in the chicken sandwich to make it EXTRA EPIC!

Ordered online and service was quick and easy. I ordered the basic sliders and fries and man, it was really good. Though there wasn't a crunch on the chicken but the chicken itself was well seasoned and moist so it wasn't like chewing on rubber. The chicken itself was delicious and if I could just buy the chicken separately, I would. Paired with the slaw and sauce, it was hard just to take one bite. The fries could have been a soggy mess but they're crunchy and have some substance to it. They're not small or floppy, these fries are decent and for someone who has a girlfriend who will travel anywhere to get fries, these fries get her stamp of approval!

*WARNING: AVOID DAVE'S HOT CHICKEN AT ALL COSTS DURING LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS!* I've had the misfortune of visiting Dave's Hot Chicken multiple times during the late afternoon and evening, and it's been a DISASTER every single time. The Night Manager seems utterly INCOMPETENT and REFUSES to prepare the spice levels correctly. I've sent my food back multiple times, only to receive a re-sauced mess with NO spice or an overpowering, bitter taste of cayenne pepper. Despite my repeated complaints and requests for the correct spice level (Medium or Hot), the Night Manager continues to FAIL miserably. It's appalling that the Day Manager and staff are aware of this issue and have done NOTHING to address it. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment. AVOID Dave's Hot Chicken during late afternoon and evening hours until they get their act together!

I got to say, I was super underwhelmed by Dave's Hot Chicken. I used to see a huge line in the Glendale location and had bookmarked Dave's to try at some point. On Friday night, I did not feel like going out, so I decided to Uber Eat Dave's from this location. I decided on the combo with the slider and tender. First, the packaging of the food was super messy. To be fair, it might have been the Uber delivery, but the it was also definitely not packaged well at all. Once I opened up the food, the first thing I noticed was so small the portions are. The fries (such a small portion), the sandwich was average sized and the tender was super small. For the price, I was definitely expecting way more. As for the food itself, the fries did not have enough seasoning. The chicken itself was pretty good and tender (which is the reason why I am giving this place 3 stars). I prefer the tender over the sandwich. The kale slaw was over overwhelming to the sandwich, I think they did not season the slaw properly. I do not think I would ever come back here. (I think I would prefer to go to Howlin Ray's or for no lines and WAY more food, I would suggest Main Chick's).

Was craving a sandwich and this was my stop. I got Dave's #2. Love how they spice up their chicken by levels. I got the second to last level-extra hot. It was really good! It was a pretty typical price of 13.99, yet didn't come with a drink so I added a small drink n my total shot up to almost $18 with tax included. Also a tip is requested, so that just adds up the toll if you tip, which I felt the workers who I came across were well deserved.

I love Dave's! Let me tell you, I would eat it everyday if I could but this location was by far the worst. Pros: employees are nice, got my food fast Cons: super dirty restroom and restaurant I actually ended up eating on the patio because I felt pretty gross sitting at the tables inside. Food was great, didn't taste any different than any other Dave's. I get the two tenders (HOT) with cheese fries. Delicious every-time just think this location should be more conscious of the cleanliness of the restaurant.

I'm forever gonna crave this place! Their menu is simple, which makes it easy to choose. You can't really go wrong. I got the tender and slider, which in my opinion was plenty. Not much of a slider, it's a sandwich for sure, which left me full and satisfied. The fries were well seasoned as was the chicken. The sauce was BUSSIN. I can't wait to come back!

Finally had the chance to try this place and I was pleasantly delighted! My husband and I ordered the 2 chicken sliders w/ cheese and a side of fries and Dave's sauce. THE GOOD - Quality white chicken, fried to perfection. The sliders had the perfect amount of breading, seasoning, cheese, and slaw. Crinkle cut fries were fresh. The mild definitely had no heat, and the medium had a nice little kick (not much). Next time around I'm going to kick it up a notch and go hot! Also, great portions! THE NOT-SO-GOOD - Dave's sauce was 95% mayo and 5% whatever else they put in there. I like mayo, just wished they had balanced the sauce out a little better to offset the mayo. Overall, Dave's hot chicken is worth the hype. Do I think they're better then Howling Ray's - hmmmm, not sure but definitely worth a try!

Update my visit... Ordered half and half combo with fries and two tendons combo with coleslaw. I went home ana was pleased to see the food was much better presented rather than the last time I had. Food turned out pretty good except the fries which were cold and hard. Hope they stay the same quality and have the same consistency.

This review is long overdue. I was a regular here for a few weeks when this spot first opened in 2020. When I lived down the street, it was always a solid takeout option after a long day. Forreals, something about Dave's hits different. Not sure if it's their seasoning or the quality of their chicken, but the chicken is immaculate. Juicy, tender, crunchy, just the right amount of salt and spice, and goes so well with bread, fries, or in the slider. I typically like to get the two tender option, as I really like to be able to relish the chicken and just enjoy that with bread or fries. But you can't go wrong with the sliders. The two slider combo is such a fantastic deal. Their fries are also the crinkle-cut ones but are still very crispy, just how I like it. This is such an optimal location and the best quick option on this block by far!

I realized that Dave's does mostly hot chicken tenders, which is different from the LA mainstay for hot chicken (rhymes with growlin jays). I couldn't help but compare the two places as they're probably the most popular hot chicken joints in the area. Dave's is solid. It'll tide over your hot chicken craving. The sandwiches here are sliders, which I don't necessarily prefer. I like a bigger chunkier chicken sandwich. The flavors are tasty. It's definitely not as spicy as "jays" because the medium felt mild. I feel like I can handle a hot with ease. The Dave's sauce is tasty. I like that theres a lot of locations so it's easier to get on a whim. I do wish they'd open one in the South Bay!

order came out fast! i love their tangy almost barbecue-y seasoning in the chicken and fries. it's also v crispy and juicy inside yum. the mac n cheese is also warm, creamy, and delish.

Living in Los Angeles, I think many people would agree with me that Dave's Hot Chicken used to be the go to spot for whenever you craved a Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich/tender, but whether it's the pandemic or chain business that has ruined Dave's, I wish they would go back to their traditional ways. I've always had Dave's but this last time that I got a plate, I was honestly very disappointed with the food. First off, the sauce. I cannot believe that the sauce comes in packets!? It definitely doesn't taste like the same sauce that would come in the containers and it kind of ruined the whole meal for me. We all know the sauce plays an essential part in the eating experience and this was just not it. Secondly, I realized that the portions of the fries had gotten smaller, which is fine, but I would think that increasing the price of the food with what is being served would be proportional and in my opinion, it isn't. The chicken itself wasn't bad, but because I didn't enjoy the taste of the sauce, I had to eat it with just honey so it wouldn't feel too dry. I just wish the plate offered more taste than what it did. I used to be a really big fan and now I'm going to have second doubts when wanting to order :/ .

I usually go to the East Hollywood location and this is the 2nd time that I've been here. Food is quality as always, but, they are run pretty inefficiently compared to the other location. Both times, I've had to wait longer than I was told, and today, my food was supposed to be ready at 7 but I didn't get it until 7:40. The location isn't ideal because there is no parking so if you come, you need to come with someone and join the line of illegally parked cars outside. The line seemed like it was 50 people, all who are waiting for their food that are not yet ready. I understand if you are backed up and need more time to meet everyone's orders, but put that time in the takeout time when customers are placing the order. I've NEVER had issues with this at the other location. This is one of the expansion locations from the original store. I'm not sure what happened, but the efficiency and transparency here seems so much worse than the original. In the future, I'll be driving to the other location so that I don't have to wait 40+ mins for food that I ordered ahead of time EDIT: tenders did not come with sauce or pickles. This was a rough going

Dave's Hot Chicken was recommended to me by my best friend Dave! No, he's not The Dave, but the guy has a knack for finding some darn good fried chicken. I got Dave's #3 one tender + one slider with Medium for the Heat along with fries. Large Pepsi. & my homie Dave reminded me during my visit to ask for Honey and use their Secret Sauce. My meal certainly did not disappoint. It is a game changer once you add that sauce AND the honey. If you're a big fried chicken fan like me, then the amount of crunch to tender chicken ratio is so crisp, so perfect. Medium heat was good. I can do Hot heat if I'm feeling ballsy. Chiarra got Dave's #3 with all the same fixings, except she got REAPER for the Heat. (Keep in mind I'm not a spice guy, but my girlfriend is). It was between my perfect meal that she asked me to take a bite of her REAPER tender. This one bite blew my spice taste senses through the roof. I got up and proceeded to guzzle 3 large Pepsi refills back to back to back to battle the hotness. If it weren't for that, Dave's Hot Chicken would get a 5 star rating on Jeff Eats. Once I go back if I'm able to avoid that REAPER heat at all costs, I'll review and give it a 5 star rating. Likely, Dave's Hot Chicken is a 5 star rating.

I ordered a delivery of a #2 2 sliders w cheese fries and medium spice and when it got here it had no spice and chicken were small dry pieces. They just tossed the the coleslaw. Very disappointed/: The fries were good tho at least.
