Dave’s Hot Chicken—Houston Visit 🍗🔥 We finally tried Dave’s Hot Chicken in Houston, and it was a hit with my husband and daughters! The flavor was on point, though my husband wished it packed a bit more heat—he’s all about that extra kick. 😅 Overall, they loved it and were excited to hear there’s now a location in Chesterfield (St. Louis). That one’s definitely on their list next!

Pros: Super clean restaurant with a cool vibe. They had an offer if you left a review that you got a free drink. Service was quick and the staff were friendly. Cons: On the more expensive side for fast food. A #1 is almost $13 and doesn’t include a drink. The chicken is very heavily coated. I didn’t mind it but I could see how others would.

The service at this location is amazing! Angelica is nice and very welcoming. Good parking, big dining area and patio. Great food!

The food was just what it looks like, very good. I tried the tender, slider and fries with medium heat and the spice was just right. This location has very friendly staff who were happy to explain the menu since it was my first time here. Highly recommend this location.

I am not a chicken fan but this was good! We got a#4 & small loaded fry, medium heat. Not to hot for me. Service was excellent!

We have only been a couple of times, but the food has always been great. I got the top-loaded fries and I'll diffently get that again. I got the extra hot, so I think I'll do the hot next ti.e...haha... I needed an extinguisher after eating. My wife got the single slider and she really enjoyed it. She got the hot and said next time she'll do the medium. It might be a while till we go back just because we live 2-1/2 hours away.

First time trying this due to my daughter seeing lots of ads for it and wanting to try it. I got the sandwich and she got the regular tenders. I like how they give you a lot of pickles on the side and more sauce because the sandwich definitely needed more sauce. As far as the flavor itself, I feel like the spice blend on the chicken might have too much chili powder as it has a heavy earthy flavor. The sauce helps with that at least. It's alright. I probably won't ever crave it but if someone I know wants to eat here I'll go.

It was our first time trying Dave’s and I’m guessing we looked new because Mariah M. Noticed right off the back and let me tell you she was super sweet in helping us out she explained the whole menu and even items that weren’t on the menu. The food came out in a timely matter and it tasted so amazing. 5stars all around!

The food was sooo good!! I couldn't decide between the tenders or the sliders so I did the combo with one of each. It comes with fries or you can swap them out for the Mac and cheese (which I did) The Mac is super creamy and good, highly recommend! The fries are also great so no wrong choice there. The tenders and sliders are both so good but I'd recommend the sliders only because they come with amazing coleslaw and sauce which made it soooo good. Pickles on the side for an extra crunch!

My rating is based on the quality, size and flavor of the food. I wasn't expecting the tenders to be so large. Keep this in mind when ordering on an empty stomach. I'm not a fan of the bread that accompanies the tenders so I skip or ask for it without. But I have come to love their milkshakes. If I need a pick me up, it's worth spin through the drive through for that. The mac and cheese requires seasonal doctoring. I won't frequent here as much because their nutrition facts show their meals to be very high in sodium but then again there's always the milkshakes. I've had really quick and really slow service at this location -each time it was seemingly empty so it just depends on the day or staff.

Food is so good and filling! You better have an appetite and get ready to dive in. Their chicken is perfectly seasoned and big! Their sauce pairs perfectly with the chicken along with the pickles they give you. I love how their menu gives you options of only tenders or best of both worlds with a slider and a tender, like the #3. I have tried medium and hot, hot was a little too spicy for me since it kept building up lol but medium was enjoyable not really spicy at alll for me but had great flavor. Service was fast and staff was kind. The food was beautifully assembled, fresh, we got everything we needed and truly enjoyed our food. Oh and their fries are so good! Very nicely seasoned as well.

Lunch was amazing. Food was so good. Big chicken tenders and fries well seasoned. Mac and cheese is delicious too. I'll definitely be back for more . Friendly staff and the restaurant is very clean .

Decided to stop by Dave's Hot Chicken on a whim and I'm glad I did. The inside had a vibrant atmosphere through its wall art decor that spans as soon as you walk in all the way to the back where the restrooms are situated. The staff was prompt and courteous. He asked us if it was our first time and explained the menu as we had some questions for him. We ordered Dave's #2 which came with 2 sliders with fries and some sides. The sliders seemed freshly made and the chicken was evenly coated with seasoning. The bun was fresh and the fries had a nice crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. Although, it lacked flavor and could've been seasoned a bit more. Their Dave's sauce was just satisfactory, it wasn't anything special and just tasted normal to me. It still was a pleasant first visit and I enjoyed having lunch here.

Great customer service just to start this review but I had to knock it because where is the seasoning on this chicken? The chicken was hot. (We got hot, medium, and hubs tried reaper) but it's mainly a dry rub of heat but the chicken is not seasoned. I assume the sauce is meant to be additional seasoning but that was not doing it for me. The Mac and cheese was meh. Do I think it is worth the hype? No but doesn't hurt to try it.

Delicious food great and fresh ambiance is calm service is great . The food is always fresh and you may have issues with service sometimes but that's at any fast food place overall experience great . The shake was not great but food is good .

This shit is so ass we had gotten promise a free milk shake I don't see my fucking milk shake in my hand canes is better this is why y'all got 2.6 stars

Ok, so the chicken here is amazing. Some of the best I've ever had. They offer several different spice levels, and they come with a really good dipping sauce. Everything was super fresh. Now, the reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because of the sides. The fries were generic store bought, and the bread was basic white bread. I think if this place cut their own fries, it would really elevate it. Also, basic white bread just seems so cheap and easy. At least toast the bread or make something more unique. I didn't even want the bread since I could get a whole pack of the same bread for a $1 or $2 from any grocery store. I will say, at least the fries were fresh. The price is kind of expensive at almost $5 a strip. Canes is near $2 a strip. I'm not complaining about the price because 3 of the Canes strips equal about 1 of Dave's strips. A lot of chicken places are now cutting their strips in half, and Daves isn't doing that. I would recommend someone to come here and try the strips. They are amazing, and maybe the sandwiches are they way to go. I can't say since I only ordered the strips and sides. I would definitely just skip the sides, though.

Food was good; fries were very crispy delicious, Mac and cheese was okay. For the flavor we tried the hot and extra hot (it has a kick to it but not extremely spicy) P.S. I'm Hispanic and enjoy spicy food. Service was good. Milkshake was extra milky, wouldn't buy one but it was free. The ambiance was not so great, very echoing and loud, sticky tables and loud chairs.

It was ok I personally don't like the sauce but good chicken place and good amount of spice

My cousin and I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time! Me and her LOOOOOOVE hot chicken and we're expecting something absolutely delicious. The chicken was not really spicy, which was a bit disappointing. The hot was just covered in powder which was really weird. It's also very pricey, but most hot chicken places are so that wasn't much of a shock. Only reason I bring it up is because I do not feel that my meal was worth what I paid for.

Another first for us while in Texas. The service was good, the ambiance was a unique for a fast food place. If you have ever had a Nashville hot chicken it is basically the same thing. I would definitely eat there again.

The edited photos on the business profile made me come in. Food doesn't look like the pictures as of 3/18/2022. I came to support a new business and I'm glad I gave it a shot. At $12.99 for a basket of two sliders and fries, NO drink the price is somewhat on the high end for the quality of the food. I don't usually eat spicy food but after inquiring with the cashier I was told the "hot wasn't really that hot." I then proceeded to make the mistake of ordering the " hot" level...it was too hot for me. I will return to try the medium.

Never heard of this place and checked it out today. Ordered the #3 with reaper on both and cheese on the slider. Signed the waiver for the reaper spice and all that fun stuff. Everything was fresh and made to order, straight out of the fryer on a Monday lunch hour. Chicken was cooked perfectly and flavor was great. The reaper sauce in my opinion isn't hot enough to require a waiver but its a good blend of heat that gets your sweat and nose going but still tastes great. Not as hot as BWW Blazin' sauce IMO, but blazin' is all heat and minimal flavor. Fries are fine but crinkle cut ore-ida lookin fries are my least favorite in a restaurant. Bread for slider is great, soft and chewy holds it together well

I've been waiting for this place to open for weeks. Did the food look like the pictures on the website? Absolutely not. Definitely false advertisement. It reminded me of when you order something off of Wish.Com and you get something completely different. So don't be fooled by the pics. Was the chicken good? Yes. Very flavorful. Were the cheese fries worth the extra $1.50? No. They are the kinda cheese fries you get where just the top 4 fries have cheese and the rest are bare. It's as if whomever made them said "cheese fries?! Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Solid Chicken, a little pricey. Great service and a clean restaurant. A lot of food per meal.

Have been wanting to try this place since it opened up in Houston. Since my friends and I were in Baytown for the weekend for freaky deaky, we decided to give this place a go. I honestly surprised by the number of stars it has on Yelp as the food was pretty good. I liked the soft potato buns they use which is not cut all the way through, making it less messy and your chicken won't slip right out! The coleslaw was also great, helps reduce the spice of the chicken. Just be careful when you eat, do not inhale as the dry rub may get into your throat and choke you. The highlight was definitely the fries though. Crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, they were an absolute hit! Portions were also pretty decent! The only thing to note it that it is actually spicy. The guy at the counter lowkey bamboozled us as he said sriracha was spicy and these chicken were not, but that was to totally untrue. My friend preferred an extra hot and could not finish his sandwich! Apparently you can also ask for more sauce if you're into sauce like me!

GREAT first impression! Super nice building, place is meticulous! The concept is perfect and so simple... great food, clean and welcoming, nice staff... all the ingredients of success. First time and won't be the last. In the area on a business trip and look forward to returning! A++

I got the Dave's #4, I asked for no co slaw or as Daves calls it "Kale slaw" , and my sandwich had kale slaw which disappointed me. I have a picture of my receipt which says no kale slaw, for proof of the lack of consideration.But the food was mediocre, I got creeped by the bright red color of the chicken which is not common if I only got mild. The chicken tasted very artificial, and the mac and cheese was cafeteria level at best. The lack of the people to not consider my special request really let me down. Its a restaurant with a drive through, the environment is weird. Would not recommend.

There is no crave for Daves! I went here on the grand opening, and I do appreciate the free shot glass and chicken toy given. However, the food was terrible. I knew I should have reversed when I saw the menu. I ordered a chicken "slider" which essentially was a single chicken tender on a large bun, with kale-slaw. The bread did not have a good taste, nor the chicken. I asked for no spice on my chicken because honestly, looking at the images frightened me into it.

The food they advertise on social media looks so good. However, in reality it's not worth your money. -The chicken tasted like chili powder or something, and it barely had flavor. -The slice of bread I had was hard and crusty -The fries was not good, and tasted like frozen bag fries -The drink was small, and expensive -The special sauce taste like mayo -The slider was mid af Just go to Raisin Canes!! You'll save money, and be more satisfied with your meal. I'm never going back to Dave's Hot Chicken, unless my life depends on it.

Have tried countless places in Houston, thought let's give Dave's a try. NO WAY their food quality is like this all the time as evidenced by the line of cars outside the joint. Spent $45 and regretted it. Fries were being cook and put in containers waiting to be paired with orders. Chicken was already cooked and put into trays. Food came out... chicken sub par temp. Poor cold Bread. Seasoned, cold, hard fries. Choked it down. Maybe never come here again. Something in my heart tells me they can do wayyy better. Just wasn't on their game. 2 stars for a nice staff and nice atmosphere.

First time at Dave's Hot Chicken it was for sure an experience. The chicken was good texture and cooked well. The seasoning was really weird and it has to be an acquired taste to enjoy, I would recommend you go just for the experience .

Chicken was tender. Fries were crispy. No complaints here, might bring some milk next time for that extra spice

Very nice staff but the chicken tenders and slider are not my cup of tea. If you like dry rub chicken tenders, then you may like it. Not much flavor otherwise.

Dave's #2 2 Sliders w/ Fries Ordered several things it was a family of 5 paid over $80. Food is pretty good obviously food doesn't look exactly like in there website and social media, so was a little bummed about it especially for what we paid.

Sam was a pleasure to speak with and explained the options. Food was hot and fresh. Order was served correctly too.

Why is the drive thru not open? Thats silly if you ask me. I decided to go try it even though I've heard not so good things but couldn't because of the drive thru being closed.

They're tenders are awesome . I just can't get past paying almost $15 for a meal and it doesn't come w a drink.... Crazy

Been here twice and both times waited over 20 minutes in the drive thru for my food. Mind you it wasn't during lunch and there were four cars before me. The food is over priced for what you get. The combos don't even come with a drink so that's another $3-5 additional dollars. One order can cost up to $15 if not more. To me is not worth it. I rather just go to a different place.

Dave's chicken is okay. First, I don't care Dave's sauce. I've tried the sliders and chicken tenders both are very filling. They give you big pieces of chicken and the chicken itself is cooked we'll. As for taste, I feel like it's just dry rub seasoning on top of the chicken. I wanted to like them but I wouldn't go out of my way to order.

I went today for the first time and I enjoyed the customer service and the meal I received. I do intend to return more often.

This a really good and tasty place to eat. I usually get the 2 chicken Slider with fries and a drink. It's worth the drive or the wait on days that they are busy

The service was okay it Took 20 minutes to get are food mine you there was 4 cars in front of us while we were at the window we noticed that all the workers cooking did Not have a hair net on while cooking the food was okay the bread they gave us was not good and it it was soggy and I will say for 1 number 3 was 15.00 with no drink and 1.50 for cheese fries the fries had a little drizzle of cheese

The chicken is amazing! The fries have a Cajun taste to it and it is so good! The Mac and cheese is the best Macaroni I ever had!

Well it's something different around the block and yeah there food might be what we ordinarily do not order yet it has a tasty flavor.

Misleading "Free Slider" promotion.. they say you can get a free slider but when you go to the restaurant to claim it you have to buy something... then it's not free.. no where on the promotional email does it say you have to buy anything to claim.

Food was good! Service was quick. I actually thought the chicken would be more spicy, but it still had a good flavor. I did redeem a free strawberry shake, that was a little too sweet for my liking. Overall it was good.

Spent over 40 dollars for essentially 4 chicken tenders and a Mac and cheese and a couple of fries with cheese.the chicken was over saturated with chili powder I had no taste of any type of sauce.my girlfriend got a certain flavor and I got a spicier one and they tasted the same because of how much chili powder they had on them

The two starts are simply because it is close by and the food is not bad. The main reason why I give this a 2 star rating is because of their service. It is completely bad from top to bottom. There were 2 cars in the left lane and none on the right lane. I waited over 10 minutes waiting for my order to be taken and it never was, I had to pull up to the window only for them to put down the wrong name, forget the drink and to top it off when I got home I realized they gave me the wrong order. This is not my first time being here. Multiple times I received the wrong order and each an every time the wait time to get your food is 30+ minutes wether it is busy or dead in the drive through. I do not recommend this location.

wanted to like it from the pictures but wasn't impressed. the meal itself is filling however the flavor was lacking. i was expecting some delicious ass chicken with some heat and all i got was heat with no flavor. this is more so for people who don't know that seasoning exists and only rely on salt and pepper. also my Dave's sauce packet was expired.

Food taste was ok. Beakys has this place beat by a long run. The sliders are ridiculously expensive for something that leaves you hungry. Fries were ok. Just seems like a heavy rip off. Come here if you're into posting your life on social media and only that because if you're hungry you will leave hungry

Horrible music. Horrible prices. Horrible taste. Chicken is good but the seasoning is overpowering and gets tasteless, feels like ur drinking Cajun seasoning out the bottle. love the pickles . cashier doesn't understand new innovative technology(the cash register).

Don't waste your money. Go to canes next door and just ask for hot sauce.. so much better!!!!!
