Here’s Why Tomales Bay Oysters May Be Hard to Find at Bay Area Restaurants - Eater SF

"Dave’s Famous Chicken, which is partially financed by Canadian-born rapper and actor Drake, will open on Friday, January 20 at 2228 Broadway in Uptown Oakland. The San Francisco Chronicle reports the location will take over the former Old Brooklyn Cafe & Bakery." - Paolo Bicchieri

I drove by this place many times during my commute to work, so finally decided to give a try, Glad i did! Got myself 2 sliders & fries combo mild chicken, absolutely delicious meal!! Plus Ariana the worker was so kind & sweet!

Google
Tried Dave’s Hot Chicken for the first time and I’m hooked. The chicken was super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the spice levels are no joke. The sliders are huge and come with pickles and their special sauce, which ties it all together. Fries were crispy and well-seasoned too. Definitely recommend getting the combo. Place was clean, staff was friendly, and the food came out fast. A little pricier than typical fast food, but you get what you pay for — totally worth it.

Google
Got the 10 piece chicken bites with french fries. This food is mediocre all day. The chicken didn't have much flavor at all, the Dave's sauce taste like mayonnaise and ketchup with maybe some Cayenne sprinkled in. The fries weren't bad, but not good. Very mid on the fries. The chicken bites are pretty small. So much hype about this place, I don't get it. When I paid for my order at the counter and tapped No Tip on the screen the woman taking my order let out a exasperated sigh. That actually gave me a chuckle. Overall a very mediocre experience at Dave's Hot Chicken, it's nothing special at all.

Google
LOVE super spicy food and most commercial spots say they’re “hot” but it’s really for someone who thinks black pepper is hot. I typically order the Hot or Extra Hot chicken sando and it’s got what I think is the right level of spice for a takeout spot- definitely not the hottest thing but it does the trick. I got the REAPER chicken sando this time and it is legit hot! Great portion, pickles are a home run, I added mayo at home and some pickled carrot/daikon I had and this thing blew my socks off. Legit body reactions, sweating, nose running, cold sweats, brow tingles… exactly what you’d expect from something like this. Nailed it.

Google
Food was really good! Freshly made and fries were crispy and hot. Tried Dave’s Hot Chicken for the first time and I’m hooked. The chicken was super crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the spice levels are for real. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Sliders came with slaw and pickles; cheese can be added for extra change of 75 c

Google
Food was good. Came out hot and fresh. Best part was the service. They we super friendly and attentive. They constantly cleaned and straighten the dinning area. For a fast food place the service was a cut above.

I tried Dave's Hot Chicken on Broadway & Grand the first time on Tuesday (May 20th). Once my order arrive, I took a bit and it was absolutely delicious. The customer service was wonderful and pleasant. Especially from Ariana. She took my order and her kindness was truly appreciated! On my next visit to Oakland, will definitely stop by to enjoy the food again. Thanks Ariana!

Yelp
Went to this location for the first time yesterday and was able to try the loaded fries. Despite how busy their store was due to the black joy parade, they delivered great service! Food was amazing and the wait time was only 10-15, super impressive with the amount of people that were in there. The store was also kept in great shape! Clean enough to sit and eat with no complaints The loaded fries were super good! I was being greedy though lol I should've just got a regular. The large was HUGE!

Yelp
Obvi I didn't think I was going to have the experience of the girl on the ads saying it was the best thing she'd had in her life (tf?!)...but I wanted to give the Cauli Slider with Fries a try. There's not a lot to recommend : I ordered mild to be cautious on spice level and it wasn't so much as it was -still- quite spicy, but it didn't taste good. It was covered in this spice powder so that it over powered the sando and all you could taste was the powdery spice. The powder also gave me cotton mouth, I was sooooo thirsty chugging water. Just not an enjoyable eat, I'm very dehydrated now. The fries came cold and soggy and were also dusted with that nasty powder. I was given one (1) ketchup packet. Is someone that dumb or stingy, or were they being vindictive lol. I'm surprised I wasn't given a single napkin (I got two). Overall, would not recommend. Over hyped and won't be back.

Yelp
You don't have to sell me on hot chicken. I first tried it at Hattie B.'s in Nashville where hot chicken started and liked it a lot (review: https://yelp.to/C7-LPOnXAh). There are at least three spots in Downtown Oakland - Hotbird and World Famous Hotboys are the others we've tried - though this is the only one that's part of a local chain. Jamie W and I had been wanting to try it for a while, so we stopped by after a walk around Lake Merritt. It was fairly busy, but we managed to snag a table once we ordered. Jamie didn't hold back and went with Dave's #3, one Tender and one Slider with Fries for $13.49 (photo: https://yelp.to/VvAmgV1gHz). It was quite a portion of food as the tender was a hefty piece of breast with sliced white bread drizzled with their house sauce, while the slider was the same size only with a bun and kale slaw. There were plenty of krinkle fries and pickle chips, so he didn't go home starving. Going with the mild heat level, he liked it and got full pretty quickly. I was no less modest with my order. I went with Dave's #1, two Tenders with Fries for $12.49 (photo: https://yelp.to/3rr4LRpH3H), which seemed just as hefty an order though I had the audacity to try the hot spicy level which numbed me a bit during my meal. I also liked it though honestly I would've gone with a half-portion in hindsight as it was a lot. I also would've liked a dark meat option which is why I like Hotboys a bit more. At least they were friendlier here than at Hotbird where they maintained a more surly attitude. Jamie and I will probably split an order on our next visit. FOOD - 4 stars...hefty portions of satisfying hot chicken, more variety and smaller meal combos would be nice AMBIANCE - 3 stars...typical fast food vibe SERVICE - 3.5 stars...more attentive than we expected TOTAL - 4 stars...good to have hot chicken choices RELATED - Exploring Oakland? Yelp
Dave's is all right. Not exactly earthshaking. But pretty OK fast food for the price. I wanted to check it out for myself since this seems to be a growing national chain. There's not even much to tell. It's a funky/wild and crazy brand they're looking to project even though the layout is straight fast food/dining hall. I walked in on a weekday afternoon. No line. The person at the counter was polite and nice enough. I ordered the #4, a slider plus fries for $10.99. Five minutes later, I had my chicken sandwich. I did not go hot, because that's not my bag. The sandwich was pretty good though. Maybe four stars for the price/value. The fries were very weak. Two stars. Split the difference and call it three stars total. Lots of room to sit indoors. Just a couple tables outside. Grand Avenue is a very busy street so it's not exactly, a contemplative outdoor dining experience. Would I go back? Maybe if I was in the neighborhood. But you can get a good pizza slice, a great sandwich or really good Ethiopian food within a one-block radius - so I'm not sure.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of their chicken tenders and sliders, so of course I had to order both! I actually haven't been to this location before so decided to stop by on my way home. Parking is a little tough in the area since it is in the heart of downtown. I ordered online and waited at least 20 minutes before it was ready. Not sure if it was ready before then since I was one out of the two customers there. Turns out my order was underneath the counter. Also, the app didn't indicate that it was ready, but I decided to ask since I felt like it was waiting a long time. The chicken was juicy and tender. I'm a big fan of their chicken rub since it is coated generously and gives a lot of flavor. I went with the mild for the sliders and medium for the tenders since I prefer non-spicy food. Glad they have a location in Oakland now since I normally go to the one in Union City. It is also walking distance from the 19th Bart station.

Yelp
Way too expensive for me. Looks smells taste good, but the servings are too small, where I would have to buy two items just for myself.
google avatar

Joseph Anthony S.

Yelp
Solid. Get the sliders if you like bread that compresses like a flat cushion. This IS a compliment lol. But thick pieces, not as spicy add you think, and old fashioned crisp fries are crisp and almost generous
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered delivery and it's a solid hot chicken sandwich. I would give this overall 3.5 stars but didn't feel like i could round up to 4. I wish they gave a bit more sauce with the delivery. Also got the side of Mac n cheese and it was just ok. Fries are pretty good. Spice level on sandwich medium was good for me, hot was definitely too hot for me.

Yelp
Hot garbage. There's other spots spanking Dave's in every way. If you're going here and not to the local spots you're a buster.

Yelp
I'm sold with the bang for my buck. Been having a little chicken sandwich spree in the Bay Area. I'd say I'm very impressed with Dave's. Went with the mild spice flavour. 2 sliders and some fries. Ordered extra fries for myself and brother. No cheese. Waiting time was aceptable. The sandwiches are a bit on the small side but so good. It does have a slight sweetness to it, it being the coleslaw. Spice mild flavour was nice, ate it comfortably. Fries are fresh and hot; seasoned very well. 2 sliders and a side of fries for around 15usd. The inside is nice and spacious. Been wanting to come back ever since. Public transport is extremely easy in downtown Oakland.

Yelp
My kids and I love Dave's hot chicken. We are so happy there is a location in Oakland. We are not yet brave enough to try the reaper flavor yet. We enjoy the chicken burgers. My younger son likes the fries.

Yelp
I came here to grab Togo on a Friday night and it was packed with dine in and Togo orders. Servers were nice and the restaurant is clean. I would not recommend parking your car in uptown. This area is ghetto and unsafe. I got the cauli Dave's slider - medium spicy and it was tasty. The cauliflower was fresh and there was not too much breading that it was the perfect amount to crispy the cauliflower. The bread wasn't soggy either. It was a nice balance where I didn't feel disgusted eating fried food.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try Dave's Hot Chicken for awhile after seeing their LA and Denver locations! Went to a show at the Paramount Theater and walked over to Dave's. The menu is pretty simple with their different order packages (Sliders/ tenders with sides). Went for the number 2 which comes with 2 sliders and a side of fires. It's cool you can pick two different spice levels for each slider! Got the Mild and Hot to try ($16 total). The Hot is bearable and you won't be dying for water (it's Extra Hot or higher that will get you to that burn feeling!) You can also order some of their sauce and honey to add on to your sliders and it's bomb! The fries are also cooled perfectly (and you can immediately dig right in without it burning your fingers or tongue). I'd definitely come back here!

Yelp
DELIVERY only review - We were craving chicken and decided to try Dave's Hot Chicken - they are popping up everywhere and each time I drive by one I tell myself to try it. Today was the day - and the ONLY day I will try it. Firstly our Orders Combination box - came with a chicken slider (mild spice), chicken tender and fries Chocolate Milkshake Mac and Cheese - pass Thoughts Firstly I understand prices are going up but I cannot justify spending $20 for a chicken slider, ONE piece of tender and some fries. Chicken Flavor - the mild wasn't too spicy and some said it had a sweet flavor to it so don't get too scared about it. Milkshake - extremely sweet and was very hard to drink through Mac and Cheese - I was excited to try this thinking that there would be a little flavor kick to it - very bland flavor Overall - for the price and the average flavors I would not come back again

Yelp
Where does Dave's Hot Chicken rank among the plethora of chicken sandwich spots? I don't know but it's a solid choice for a good chicken sandwich. The menu is simple, four options to choose from. I chose number 2: 2 sliders and fries: It all starts with the bread. The bread is fresh, soft, and compliments the ingredients nicely. Inside is the fried chicken with a slaw and pickles. The pickles provided the needed textural crunch, the same as onions would. The slaw of course completes the sandwich, even though I feel it would not hurt them to go a little heavier on the slaw. The chicken is a solid piece of moist chicken. I wish they came out with a bigger sandwich to fulfill the big boy appetites. I was satisfied with the two sliders and fries but I could've eaten a couple more sliders with ease. Food came out within a few minutes of ordering. The prices were a little high but it seems like everything is these days. Would I come back? Absolutely. Dave's Hot Chicken is a solid spot for your chicken sandwich needs.

Yelp
Very solid lunch spot. The interior is spotless and there are plenty of seating options including an adorable child sized bar seating area toward the front. Staff is friendly and the menu is super simple - the cauliflower options are kind of hidden but they are there. For the chicken spice they tend to skew a little mild so the medium was perfect for people like me, that don't necessarily need their lips to burn. Hot is good for those that like the spice amped up a bit to start feeling the burn. The slider was very good, and the sauce was finger licking good; it did need more slaw but the pickles almost made up for it. The fries were crispy enough but rather plain (dunk them in the sauce to help them). I think we could have gotten away with ordering the two slider option with fries and splitting it. Gonna try the mac and cheese next time.

Yelp
Surprisingly good! We came around 11 pm on a Saturday night, and it was really busy. Also, probably understaffed. No napkins around, tables a mess, etc. We ordered a #4 HOT as a late night snack. Excellent fries, hot and crispy. A well composed slider that was really satisfying. It all worked with the sauce and slaw. I'll try that EXTRA HOT next time.

Yelp
This was a food bucket list place. We had a chicken strip and a slider with fries. We also ordered the mac and cheese. First the service was great. Everyone was friendly, the person who took our order told us how long the wait would be, and was super attentive. I was worried when I first saw the chicken because it's all red -- that spells flaming hot! Ordered the medium spice (4th level) and could have gone one more up. The chicken was really crispy, and had a lot of paprika flavor. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy, but not hard -- just perfect! We didn't get much slaw on the slider -- if any -- and would like a bit more. The mac and cheese was good -- elevated KFC is how I would describe it. The restaurant was cute with red furniture and graffiti on the walls. It was spotless, and the tables were bussed right away when people left. The 4 stars are for lack of slaw, and "pretty good" mac and cheese. We will definitely go again!
google avatar

Loriell L.

Yelp
We ordered this for lunch at my workplace and everyone thought it was really tasty. What I liked the most was that the spice level was very accurate and caters to all levels of spice so that was really cool. I would definitely recommend trying if you haven't already.
google avatar

Ella G.

Yelp
Soooooo mid !!! We tried the "medium" spice level 2 piece tender/fries combo, which is supposed to be one of their specialties. The tenders are gigantic, which I guess is good in terms of value ($13.99), but leaves a lot of the chicken tasting bland. The spice mix is heavy, like the tenders are doused in chalky spices, but somehow pretty bland. Their medium is more of a mild. The fries were pretty decent, although the seasoning was super spotty (their instagram page is misleading lol). Overall, it wasn't totally inedible but I don't think it's worth the money or hype.

Yelp
We had just finished up a show at Fox Theater, and with a quick search on Yelp, we saw there was Dave Hot Chicken within a short walking distance so we decided to give a try. They have a bunch of different spice levels, so we went with HOT on the sliders, Extra Hot on the tenders, and we went for one slider at their hottest level, Reaper, which you have to sign a waiver for. First impression, the slider was easily my favorite. The size of a single slider is basically the size of a normal chicken sandwich. The bread was soft and slaw complimented the chicken really well. Their sauce is also tasty. The chicken tender was juicy, and if you like chicken tenders this one will hit the spot. The reaper level spicy was slightly disappointing. It's hilarious that I had to sign a waiver bc it wasn't that spicy. It's definitely spicy but not waiver level spicy. It's one of those that it's spicy but not flavorful. I'd stick with either hot or extra hot. The fries were crinkle style and crispy. Really good fries. And their milkshake was tasty. Overall, while it's a tasty chicken spot, it's not one that I'd cross the bay bridge or go out of my way for. If I lived walking distance, it'd satisfy the chicken sandwich craving. Glad I finally got to taste what the hype was all about. If you are looking for a post concert meal, its a solid option.
google avatar

Maya R.

Yelp
Dave's hot chicken hit the spot even though I ordered take out! The honey packets were a great addition and my sandwich had a large piece of chicken in it. Parking was a little challenging but I came with my sister in law who stayed in the car while I ran in to pick up our order.
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
The chicken was juicy and tender but calling it "hot" chicken is a stretch. I ordered the chicken sandwich hot and there was hardly any spice to it. I wouldn't even call it a mild. Fine place to stop for lunch, but don't expect it to be spicy.
google avatar

Renee F.

Yelp
Dave's is relatively quick, prioritizes giving out hot fries, and allows you to order in the restaurant or beforehand online. They'll bag it to go but you're welcome to eat inside. The bathroom was pretty clean and staff walks around and cleans tables so dining in is pretty comfortable. I've been here a few times and I think my favorite order is the two tender box (medium or hot ) with fries. They give honey packets so I pour those over the chicken. My partner likes the slider so I love that we can order a combo with one of each and split the fries if we're not super hungry. I also love that they have utensils. I definitely use them on the tenders so I can create bites of bread, chicken, and pickles. No complaints on service from me. This is a busy spot doing their best to get out good fresh food quickly. I order when I'm on my way to cut down the wait.
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
I could see my order on top of the pass through. Two employees looked at it. Did anyone call out my number for several minutes? NO. I had to go to the counter and ask for my food, ffs. Last time coming here.
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
When you are starving and it's 10pm, you can hit up Dave's Hot Chicken until 11pm for hot crispy tenders and fries. Food was definitely very hot and made fresh to order. Chicken was perfectly fried and very crispy and the medium spice was just right. They were very generous with the packets of special sauce, ketchup, and honey, which was appreciated. The pickles were good also.
google avatar

Yelp
Happy birthday Dave! I saw a posting for a free sandwich at Dave's to celebrate its birthday. I stopped by after grocery shopping and the line was all the way to the bathroom. Was a bit committed at that point since I was hungry. My phone was dying so I didn't really get to take any pictures. It took around 30 minutes to order but five minutes to get the food. If you download the app you get a free drink :D Was it worth the wait? Yeahhh it was good for late nights.

Yelp
"Dave's Hot Chicken" is serving up spicy tender chicken sandwiches in downtown Oakland. Are you still eating boring chicken sandwiches? Well, maybe it's time to try tender fried chicken with your choice of spicy heat level. The menu is pretty simple, and the prices are fair. I ordered the "1 Slider w/ Fries" and a chocolate milkshake. I asked for a medium heat level. 1- Chicken Slider, Medium Heat, Grade (5/5). Delicious chicken sandwich. Juicy and tender, easy to eat. The sandwich had the slaw, sauce, and crunchy pickles. What was really amazing was the sandwich stayed together in the takeout box. 1 Slider was the perfect size for lunch, especially since it came with fries. Fries, included with Slider, were average. Could of been more crispy. Chocolate Shake, Large, Grade (3/5): I ordered this shake just in case the food was too spicy. Right? I don't know how you define "medium." Your milkshake.....at first it was okay, and then it became too fluffy.....like you're drinking foam. Not a good shake. So 4-stars, not perfect. But your slider is just the right size for a lunch sandwich. Located at Broadway & Grand in downtown Oakland. Across the street from The Melt.

Yelp
The food was pretty good I don't have any complaints.. the spice is a dry rub.. it doesn't taste like dry Cinnamon I tried hot and extra hot.. Hot was more of a medium spice and extra hot was a decent level of spice my nose started running but nothing too major. The sandwich could have had more slaw for my liking and the side of fries were hefty .. I actually gave most away to an unhoused person because I couldn't finish them.. all food was served hot and fresh 5/5 customer service They don't have ranch .. their Dave sauce isn't bad but o definitely think each would top this off

Yelp
I have not been to one of the other chains and went in just knowing they serve chicken. I put a mobile in online an hour prior to opening time and my order was ready upon pickup. I ordered one medium hot chicken slider with cheese fries. The slider was pretty much a chicken tender sandwiched with slaw, sauce, and pickles. The chicken had a soft exterior texture with chicken breast type texture. It had a Smokey taste with not any heat on the spice scale even though I ordered medium hot. Pretty okay taste wise. The efficiency of the staff made orders go through seamlessly.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a solid hot chicken spot! I got an order of Dave's #3 ($13.49), which consists of one tender, one slider, and fries. I went with hot for both the tender and slider, but I thought the hot tasted a bit closer to a medium than hot. I'm big on spicy food, so I wish I had went with extra hot instead for more of a kick. Note that if you choose the reaper heat level, you have to sign a waiver. My favorite item I tried was the slider, which was bigger than what I had expected a slider to be. The fried chicken was perfectly juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Meanwhile, the kale slaw and pickles complemented the hot chicken very well. I wasn't a big fan of Dave's sauce, but I thought honey paired really well with the hot chicken. The crinkle cut fries lacked flavor, so I didn't end up finishing them. Next time, I would just order the extra hot sliders and pass on the tenders and fries.

Yelp
Was in need of food and something close to work. Ok, check. Enough stars to give it a try, check. So here we go. Menu is simple, nothing major but a choice. Ordered the two sliders with fries off their site. Pickup time 10 mins so waited 13 before I walked over there. Line was make long so I'm thinking my food ain't gonna be ready. Once I got employee to help he grabbed my order had me sign and I was on my way. Sat down in office and looked at the food and was impressed. Fries nicely seasoned and cooked well. The sliders with this sauce was amazing. Chicken fried on outside with nice kick and moist AF on inside.. I destroyed them. Definitely Quitos go again

Yelp
I saw this location when I was in the area before it opened so I've had it on my radar to try out in my everlasting search for a quality hot chicken sandwich in the Bay. I have to say, it didn't disappoint! I arrived just before the second lunch rush around 12:45 and after asking the guy at the counter, settled on a "hot" slider and fries combo. There was about a 10 minute wait but my food was hot when it was ready and I decided to grab a window seat and dine in. "Hot" was described to me as "like a hot Cheeto". For my tastes, I'd probably say it was between a regular and xx hot Cheeto. Spicy but not so spicy that I couldn't enjoy the whole thing. Any hotter and I know I would have struggled with it. The slider is also big! I didn't even finish the box so I'd you don't have a big appetite I would suggest a slider or the tender combo. I rank crinkle cut fries very low on my preference list but these were good and seasoned well. My only pet peeves are take out containers for all orders (more waste) and that they had the heat lamp on and it was a little warm inside. Otherwise, the staff was friendly even though I could tell they were busy. Would definitely return.

Yelp
There was a long line when I came in on a Friday night to order to go, but once my order was placed the food came out quick! I ordered #3 with a hot tender and medium slider. I expected the spice levels to be more intense, so I'll probably go with both hot next time, but the flavor was still really tasty. I recommend asking for honey and dipping/drizzling it on your chicken along with the Dave's sauce. It's sooo good. The employees working were also very nice and friendly. Overall great experience and will definitely be back!

Yelp
We placed an order online and it was ready for pick up as soon as we got there about 20 minutes later. I def. thought the price was worth it for the amount of food. the sliders are huge. I could only eat about one before getting full. They must use breast meat for their tenders and they are huge. The chicken is flavorful. Even though it's fried, bit still tastes fresh. I got the hit and very hot and it had a good amount of spice to it. Very manageable for me, but I love spicy food. The fries were average. They had some type of seasoning dust on them.
google avatar

Jose Manuel C.

Yelp
Went on a spontaneous dinner with the boys, had slider and fries it did not disappoint! It is a yummy ! A huge tender that sticks out of the sandwich, a bit messy but worth it! I had medium spice: solid . The pickles and dressing are on the side. Fries were cool. Service was kind and all the establishment is decorated with with graffiti . I would return!

Yelp
Located in downtown oakland this new chicken spot is pretty good. I'd definitely say mild isn't spicy to be 100 but pretty dam good. They were fucken packed going in. Definitely try to order online through the site to pick up if possible . The inside was pretty cool to be honest . A lot of art on the walls.

Yelp
Dave's is always what you expect. A great chicken sandwich and fries. Never had a bad order from the Broadway location. The people that work there are nice as well. Thanks Dave's Hot Chicken and your employees.

Yelp
Good fast food. The sandwich is a bit salty and not as good as the other hot chicken restaurants in the area, but still a pretty solid cheap option.

Yelp
Visited again today and Dave's has done it again. The chicken is consistently hot, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. I tried the Mac and Cheese for the first time and boy was I pleased. It was creamy and flavorful. Best thing about my visit today was the service. The lady working the counter around 11 AM was very nice and accommodating. Also, the food didn't take a long time to come out, which has been a put off in the past. Keep up the great work, Dave's!

Yelp
Delivery quality has gone wayyyyy down. Ordered on Doordash, got my usual (#2, medium spicy) and two bites in I realize there's the tiniest amount of slaw on the sandwich and there's no sauce. This amount of slaw is laughable. It was like this on both sandwiches. Also, paying $1 for "Xtra pickles" and getting 3 pickle chips is silly. Don't bother. To top it all off, the spice level is inconsistent. Bummer bc this place used to be decent.

Yelp
DHC is consistent wit quality of chicken and have great customer service. Always good vibes with the staff here. There's always a few people dining at in, most folks are picking up food service orders or ordering to go. I can get loud, depending on what time you pull up. The sauce is hella hot! Dont get the sauce at the top of the chart! ..unless you're a thrill seeker and that's what u came for. Tenders come with a side of white bread, so it's damn near like a slider, minus the slaw. The fries are golden & crispy too. Don't forget to grab some Dave's Sauce and some honey to balance out that HEAT!

Yelp
Why would you go here when World Famous Hot Boys is also in Oakland! This place was not good at all. Such a waste of money!! The chicken was fried to death with such a thick crust on the outside. My brother got the reaper chicken and had to sign a wavier in order to eat it. That was 100% a gimmick. I don't like hot hot food and that was trash. I would NEVER waste money here again. The only one dipping sauce they have is regular thousand island dressing they mopped the floors while we're were sitting there eating and they had the floor soaking wet. The kid at the register definitely has better things to do than be there. He definitely hates his job.

Yelp
This place is good! I get the 2 tenders and fries. Tenders are cooked perfectly and the fries are crunchy! I get it mild and it's seasoned great. The sauce on the side is bomb with the chicken. I haven't had the sandwiches yet but it looks frikkin good .This is my go to spot in the area located right on the corner, middle of downtown area. good food for the price too. Gotta support my fellow Armenian peeps @ Daves!

Yelp
Amazing food! We don't usually get the chance to come to Oakland but we decided to stop by and there are no regrets. I ordered 2 mild tenders and it came with super crispy well seasons fries, toast, and some pickles. The woman taking orders was super sweet and really fast service. If you're a fried chicken sandwich fanatic, my friends also ordered the sandwiches and loved it too, so this place is definitely worth a try!

Yelp
Apparently chicken, specifically spicy chicken and Oakland are synonymous. Be it Korean spicy, Nashville hot, Cajun, buffalo and Jamaican. Be it breast, thighs waaangs drumettes flats or the whole bird. One new edition to DT oak town is Dave's which is a substantial chain in the west enters the chicken mob. This place still newish is clean bright and simple enough not to overwhelm you with choices. The stand out however is the friendly crew who welcome you warmly, and ensure you have a pleasant day and thanks for stopping by on the way out. I got medium and hot Combo of two tenders. Substituting slaw for fries. Both were plump juicy, inside crunchy and spicy on the outside. The slaw was the perfect cooling agent. Served with requisite wonder bread and "good sauce" that seems similar orangy tangy accompaniment in most all of these types of places. Good sauce referring to Good Burger where Keenan was a star well before Saturday nite live. Wonder bread or not wonder bread... but I do wonder they they add those two slices in the box. And finally good four five pickle slices for some acid. As I'm writing this my stomach is grumbling "brah you are getting too old for spicy stuff". Was totally cool going down. Tho the spicy did have some kick in it. Totally recommend this spot. Hot... spicy deliciousness that won't break your budget.

Yelp
If you like spicy chicken sandwiches...run! Run even if you don't. It's a smaller size sandwich so if you're hungry, grab two. Bun=perfect Chicken=moist, tender, and crispy on the outside Fries=hot, crispy and delicious The menu is simple. It's busy so everything stays fresh

Yelp
Finally a hot chicken spot I can get behind. As of late, there are so many hot chicken spots opening around the bay area! Safe to say the hot chicken industry is getting a bit stuffy and saturated. To be able to make this claim as my go to hot chicken spot in Oakland, I had to try majority of their menu in all different heat settings (I have not tried the Reaper yet though). With that being said, the food executes on a high level and my taste buds were dancing. Please note that I am a bit bias as I live pretty close to here and that may have a factor into my decision of Dave's Hot Chicken being my go to spot. :) Overall, come through!

Yelp
So many fried chicken options now in Downtown Oakland, DHC just opened on the corner of Broadway and Grand Ave. The inside is simple with colorful paint and plenty of tables and bar seating along the windows. The menu is very basic, choice of spicy (Reaper, Xtra Hot, Hot, Med, Mild, lite, and no spice) then pick either slider (tender with one slice of white bread0 or slider ( hamburger bun with a bigger piece of chicken). They also have fries. I picked the hot spicy combo. The taste was good, hot but not overwhelming, and the chicken was flavorful. Overall good. They stay open late at night.
