A guide to outdoor patios in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"I grabbed fast-casual hot chicken tenders and sliders at Dave’s Hot Chicken and enjoyed sides like house-made kale slaw, creamy mac n’ cheese, and crispy fries on a small patio decorated with murals by Splatterhaus and Dehmq; the menu features seven spice levels from No Spice to Reaper, with each level using a different spice blend (the Reaper requires a signed waiver)." - Susan Stapleton

Tried the new Dave’s Hot Chicken in Olathe after volunteering nearby. Ordered Dave’s #2 (two sliders + fries) with the Hot spice level (two below Reaper). It definitely delivered — spicy but not overwhelming, with juicy chicken, crisp pickles, tangy slaw, and sauce on a potato bun. Even as a to-go order, the sandwich held up well. The crinkle fries were a pleasant surprise — seasoned just right (not too salty) and crispy, ranking just behind Joe’s BBQ fries in KC for me. Nice bonus that the sauce comes in packets, keeping everything from getting soggy. Interior is bright and artistic, but the music was almost too loud for conversation. Staff deserves huge credit: only one person at the counter was juggling everything with speed and grace. Management should consider adding more help and a mic for order announcements. Overall, Dave’s has impressed me enough to dethrone Chick-fil-A as my go-to spicy chicken sandwich. Fresh food, good heat levels, solid fries, and outstanding service. Highly recommend.

I love this place. The food is amazing. A chicken strip isn’t just a little chicken strip. They’re huge. Think twice about ordering Reaper spice level as you’ll have to sign a waiver and plan to be near a restroom the next day. The guy who works the desk with long hair and a beard is truly great at what he does. He’s courteous, he’s hard working, and he does his job quickly and with a smile. Pay this guy more! I gave the atmosphere 2 stars because it’s too loud in there. The chairs scooting on the floor are insanely loud.

I’ve been coming to this location since shortly after it opened and the food consistently delivers. The chicken is excellent and comes in a variety of well balanced spice levels. Having tried Hot, Extra Hot, and Reaper now, I recommend extra hot for those that want some heat without being overbearing. The spice blend is very similar to Hattie B’s in Nashville, which is to say fantastic.

Google
Every one I spoke to about Daves Hot Chicken said it was the best ever! I would unfortunately have to disagree. I love spicy food... I mean I love SPICY food! The chicken was cooked well but I was not a huge fan of the seasoning and sauce flavor. Maybe I'll give it another try soon and choose another level.

Placed a pickup order at this location and was amazed! Service was top notch, I’m not usually one for small talk but Maxwell, the cashier, was very friendly, complimented my glasses, and made great conversation! This was my first time getting Dave’s and I was shocked to find that my “sliders” were actually two full size chicken sandwiches! Fries were decent, won’t judge too hard because I didn’t eat them fresh. Chicken was juicy and tender, spice level on the medium and hot were both great. Sandwich was a great mix of sweet and spice. The slaw balanced out the spicy chicken very well. Thanks for a great meal! Will definitely be back in the future.

Google
So yes I am rating 5 stars love this place just cant do the reaper. Neck swollen up and now I know I can't do the reaper. The food is great and I love the HOT spice. Daves bites are my go too. You guys are awesome. Thank you for the experience this time. PSA If you dont know how capsaicin effects you test it first.

Google
First timer. Sorts surprised at the cost of a couple of sliders and fried. Very expensive for fast food and for what you get. Tasted alright, but yikes. Very slow to deliver orders. They weren't busy, but the food was crawling out from the back of the house.

Google
I didn’t eat my food due to the bad experience truthfully I went outside while my kids at with my wife. I asked for no slaw on the sliders for my son. Maxwell proceeded to tell my 9yr old “can’t you just scrape it off”. He is allergic to cabbage and breaks into hives… so no that wouldn’t be wise. We come from South Dakota and this was the kids first experience eating Dave’s. This photo was taken before the bad experience… They don’t want to come back. Thanks for making it a great experience!

Yelp
After volunteering at the nearby PetSmart adoption event, I finally gave Dave's Hot Chicken a try -- glad to see they opened in Olathe! I went with Dave's #2 (two sliders + fries) and picked the Hot spice level (two below Reaper). The heat was perfect -- enough to make my mouth tingle without punishing me. Tempted to try "Extra Hot," but maybe those days were for my younger, non-acid reflux self. The sliders came stacked with juicy pickles, crunchy slaw, and Dave's sauce on a soft potato bun. The chicken strips themselves were big -- not the measly ones you sometimes see -- and definitely worthy of being turned into a juicy, satisfying slider. By the time I got home they were a little soggy, but not enough to ruin things. The flavor balance between spice, tang, and crunch really hit the mark. The fries surprised me -- I'm usually not a crinkle fry fan, but these were seasoned crispy, zesty, and honestly second only to Joe's BBQ fries in KC. Big win. Service-wise, the woman at the counter was amazing, handling the rush like a pro while cooks worked the back. My tip for management: add another front staffer and maybe a mic system, since the loud music made it hard for seated guests to hear order calls. That said, she didn't miss a beat, and I appreciated the extra sauces she threw in. I also loved that Dave's doesn't nickel-and-dime you for condiments -- the extra packets made both the fries and sliders better, and it kept everything from getting soggy. In today's world, it's refreshing to see a place that doesn't skimp or charge extra. The space itself has bold artistic vibes and limited seating -- feels more geared toward quick bites or takeout. Orders took a little time, but that's a sign of fresh cooking, not fast-food shortcuts. Verdict? Dave's officially dethroned Chick-fil-A as my spicy chicken go-to. Between the generous portions, customizable heat levels, standout fries, fair value, and strong staff effort, I'll definitely be back. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 as a kudos to value and just attentive, hardworking staff. Rounded my 4.5 up to 5 as a nod to the value and the hardworking staff who made it a great first visit.

Yelp
1st time we tried it, we guessed that Dave didn't probably know hot stuff. so I expected light spice. uh....NO. We ordered Hot, Very Hot & Carolina Reaper flavors. Hot is dang hot. Very Hot will cook your mouth. Carolina Reaper. Get the heck outta here. Oh my Lord. It will burn you from top to bottom. Remind you again later. So, next time, I ordered medium & it was not painful. Both were very good but the milder version can be enjoyed. If you want big hunks of wonderfully fried & seasoned chicken, look no further. This place is great.

Yelp
My Dave's #4 meal ($10.49) was ready five minutes after I ordered at the counter on opening day. It consisted of a slider on a fresh bun with pickles, sauce and a small amount of slaw, plenty of seasoned, crinkle-cut fries, Dave's sauce and five side pickles, but no drink. Six chicken heat levels were available, including "reaper." I chose medium, which proved to be just mildly spicy. The chicken and the fries were too salty for me - yikes! I found the service at the counter to be efficient and accommodating, with a welcoming and helpful manager present. The dining area was clean and new with an urban graffiti theme and lively background music. I also noticed outside seating. OK overall.

Yelp
Great experience, cool atmosphere, nice people, tasty food. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is popular for a reason! The chicken is seasoned perfectly, and they have lots of different options for heat levels! Their tenders are always big and tender (I'm a big fan of the sliders!), and the staff is always super kind when asking questions about the menu. Everything comes out fresh and delicious! I know it's going to be a good day whenever I get the chance to go to Dave's!

Adam P.

Yelp
Fries always cold bought the bites for my kids and they were cold and hard. Reached out over 10 times for my missing double points and their customer service doesn't DO ANYTHING!

Yelp
I finally tried Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time and it is giving chick-fil-a a run for its money. You can order anything from tenders, strips, and chicken sandwiches. They also have a heat scale but I felt it wasn't very spicy I went for the medium. Which. Is very doable and if you are someone that hasn't experienced spicy food it is very manageable. I got their chicken sandwich topped with slaw, pickle, and their Dave's sauce. The sandwich was really delicious and all the prices were very reasonable. Service was great and friendly and the restaurant was clean. Definitely a place I will be returning to in the future.

Yelp
Gotta say, I'm loving Dave's Hot Chicken. Came in for the first time a couple months ago on the day they opened and for being a grand opening, they were on the ball with a full staff and the food was coming out hot and fast. Parking outside is shared with Doc Green's (another slightly healthier favorite) and a fairly busy strip of stores. There's generally been enough parking around lunch and dinner that it's not hard to find a spot. The first couple weeks seemed pretty busy, but it's since calmed down a smidge. All of my visits so far have been similar. Ordering online is the way to go instead of having to order at the register. Meals take about 10 minutes and always come out hot. There's about a dozen tables inside, some sharing a long booth. Probably has seating for about 40-50 people? Lighting and music are okay and the decor is fairly standard for a hot chicken place. How's the food? Well, if you like hot chicken, it's fantastic. The seasoning scale is a bit deceptive in that the no heat doesn't look seasoned and has literally no heat. The lite mild has seasoning, but again, no heat. The mild has just the vaguest notion of something that could be perceived as heat to someone who thinks pepper is hot. The medium is where the spice finally starts to shine, but without being in your face hot. I strongly recommend that those who have no spice tolerance try a mild and go from there. If you're a normal person who enjoys some hot sauce on things, start with the medium. The hot is where we start to get serious... it's warm enough to make me sweat a smidge, but the flavor still reigns supreme. For most normal folks, hot should be your maximum. For the very hot, that left my comfort zone and put me into a "I probably shouldn't have done this" mood. It's quite hot and begins to make the meal unenjoyable. If your spice tolerance is super high or you enjoy *very* spicy food, this might be your jam. Now, I haven't tried the reaper, but I don't have to. Any time you need to sign a consent form...you should make better decisions. Leave this type of thing to professionals and watch from a distance. Anyways, the quality of the chicken is very high and it's always juicy. The seasoning is strong. The crinkle cut fries are great. The dill pickle slices are top notch. And getting bread/a bun can go a long ways to tone down the heat if you shoot too high. Make sure to get extra sauce and some cheese sauce for your fries. You can thank me later, but don't tell your cardiologist. The only thing that would make this better is if they had a drive through. Otherwise, it's a very strong 4.8/5 stars.

Yelp
Food was good. Ordered the hot and was a nice heat level. Fries were crunchy. Ordered on door dash.

Yelp
Food is so over seasoned and greasy it has left me sick the rest of the day. My throat is swollen and my mouth feels puffy and tastes metallic. I have never felt this strange after eating a meal, and I am no stranger to spicy food. I ordered the medium spice, and it was barely spicy. The spice was not the issue. It was just so over seasoned and salty. Gross. Update: I am like legit sick after eating this food. Worst sore throat of my life. Having trouble speaking and eating. What did this place do to me?!

Yelp
Chicken was very good but pricey. Sauce was disgusting and bun was stale. Maybe try tenders without their signature sauce next time.

Joy

Yelp
Their food is super good. The place is super comfy. And the chicken on the logo is super goofy.

Savannah V.

Yelp
Tried Dave's hot chicken for the first time today, me and my fiancé loved it here's what he had to say : "Dave must have black friends to be having seasoned chicken like this" "They actually have flavor in their fries unlike canes , canes don't be having no flavor at all" "This place is gonna put canes and chik fil A out of business " "I like that the straws are strong and aren't flimsy I hate a flimsy straw " "I've gotta text my family about this" *proceeded to hand out honey packets to other people dining in so they could try their chicken with the honey because it's so good* Needless to say Best chicken place we've ever been to !

Yelp
Perfect chicken and staff. The vibe was great and the hospitality was impeccable! Highly recommend getting food from here!

Darcie B.

Yelp
Music was horribly loud and it was very cold in there. We even asked to turn the music down but they wouldn't . Fries were cold, coating on chicken was powdery.

Colene C.

Yelp
The food was amazing, the GM was awesome. He made sure our food was good and asked about our experience. It was very busy, but staff was quick to get tables cleaned and new people were able to find seats for dine-in.

No P.

Yelp
The service was good but my food was all room temp / cold. The music and murals are cool also.

William S.

Yelp
Walk in music was playing so loud could barely order, service was good, friendly, food was average, chicken had good flavor and was juicy, but $16.00 for a couple of good size chicken tenders and fries and a small drink seems a little steep

Katie D.

Yelp

Angel S.

Yelp
