Dave's Hot Chicken

We decided to try Dave’s Hot Chicken in San Leandro before heading to the brewery next door, and it did not disappoint! We ordered Dave’s #2: 2 Sliders with Fries and added cheese. You can choose your spice level, so we went with one HOT and one EXTRA HOT. Both sliders were delicious, crispy, and packed with flavor. The fries were really tasty too! I think I might go for their Reaper spicy level next time. It’s a great spot for a quick meal and to satisfy your craving for a spicy chicken sandwich.

AWESOME experience! I went here with my family and we received our food with in 10 mins. The food was amazing and smelt really good. I highly recommend going to the David’s Hot Chicken in San Leandro.

As a lover of spicy fried chicken sandwiches, this ranks as one of the top. Spicy, crunchy, and not the bougie kind of fried chicken sandwiches you find at other places. French fries are solid as well. I wouldn’t recommend the side of coleslaw - it’s super tiny.

I’m a huge fan of Dave’s hot chicken because of the food, but the service at my local San Leandro store is great. Shout out to Angel and Alex this night for being super cool and friendly to my entire family, they left a great impression!

Friendly staff and the hottest one almost killed me but I signed the waiver just a word of advice don't do it get the normal regular hot 🔥. I took it togo and was driving when I decided to take a bite and I almost had an accident looking for a place to get something to drink. Felt like hot coals lava the hottest thing you can think of I ran into a seven 11 and ran straight to the water section and didn't even pay for the bottle I grabbed and started drinking I was hunched over swatting and crying for a few minutes before heading to the line to pay for the water. Please please the hottest one is not edible. In my opinion but feel free to experience on your own if you must. I love Dave’s Hot Chicken so much and I go some areas. But I visited here for dinner because I want to get spicy chicken. I ordered extra hot then I took a bite, it was not that spicy as I expected. I remember it was spicy in different location but I think it’s my brain didn’t triggered any heat. However, this is still great chicken sandwich and French fries.

Stephanie was the sweetest! Greeting me as soon as I walked in and ensuring that my order was correct! Every time I see her she provides the same energy and enthusiasm :) definitely deserves 5 stars from me!

We have lived in the area for a little over a year and somehow I had not made it to Daves Hot Chicken until now. I am a big fan of Nashville style hot chicken with Hattie Bs and World Famous Hot Boys being my favorites when I am craving spicy chicken, so I was excited to finally give this spot a try. I was not in the mood for chicken that day so I went with the cauliflower slider combo number four at the hot spice level. I actually wanted extra hot but for some reason it was not an option on the app. I have a pretty high heat tolerance so I was curious to see how it stacked up. The cauliflower slider surprised me. It was super light, nicely battered, and not greasy at all. Honestly I would order it again because it did not leave me feeling heavy afterwards. The crinkle cut fries were also better than expected. Normally crinkle fries remind me of soggy cafeteria food but these had a nice crisp to them. The only downside was the seasoning. It tasted good but there was so much of it that the fries ended up a bit too salty to finish. The dipping sauce was solid too, kind of like a sweeter Thousand Island, and it paired well with everything. Overall I would come back for sure and next time I will go for the chicken, hopefully at extra hot. My only gripe is that the cauliflower costs more than chicken which feels odd since cauliflower is usually cheap at the store.

First time trying Dave's Hot Chicken and overall it was fine but didn't wow me. Service was good and friendly, they even asked if I needed extra sauce when I picked up my order, which was nice. The sauce is almost like In N Outs spread and comes in similar packets. My partner got the cauliflower combo with fries and loved it. The app was acting weird tho, we picked extra hot but in the cart it only showed hot. We troubleshooted but no luck. He was still happy with the spice level it came with. I got the new mini sliders and honestly wouldn't order again. The bun to chicken ratio felt off cause the bread was kinda thick. I ended up eating the other half of the sliders chicken only like nuggets. The biggest issue tho was the spice. I ordered medium and it tasted like nothing, not even mild. Tried a bite of my partner's hot and that one actually had a really good kick, but mine was bland considering it was first level down from my partner, and it tasted like 2-3 levels down. The chicken was juicy at least but flavor wise it was missing something, maybe salt or msg, plus spice...it just didn't hit. Fries are crinkle cut which I don't really like but these were ok, the seasoning it came with elevated it. The cheese side I'd skip. Thought it would be like Taco Bell nacho cheese but instead it had a weird chemical aftertaste. Overall I'd try it again since my partner really liked his meal, but my food just didn't land. Not bad, not great, just kinda meh for me. And I really wanted to love this place.

Our regular Tuesday golf group of eight been talking about coming to give Dave's a try. Yesterday we made it. Hubby found metered street parking across the street. We entered and quickly scanned the limited menu - chicken tenders or chicken sliders. We both ordered #4 - chicken slider with crinkled fries. And we each ordered a milkshake - strawberry for him & chocolate me. Hubby ordered, paid, and receipt issued with order #. Pros: * the milkshakes were thick & creamy *plenty of dill pickles in sandwich & extra sliced pickles on the side * soft potato bun * mild or spicy options * fries were hot Cons: * my chicken slider was coated with the spices but some of it was powdery on it. Plenty of tables. We sat at two tables of four. The manager approached our table to ask how everything was. Cleared our trays.

Dave's #3 -- tender & 1 sliders with fries If you haven't heard of Dave's Hot Chicken, it's one of the few fast food spots that specialize in Nashville-style hot chicken. If I remember correctly, they originated in Los Angeles, California, and have expanded ever since. The best way to sample most of the menu is by ordering the #3, which includes a tender, a slider, and fries. The sliders come on a soft potato bun, topped with kale slaw, pickles, and drizzled with Dave's sauce. You also get to choose your spice level, ranging from no spice to extra hot. For the price point and how fast the food came out, I'd say it was solid overall. I'm a firm believer that good Nashville hot chicken is hard to come by.

I would give this a 3-1/2 Star. The Manager and Cashier were very friendly. This is our first time trying this chicken place after a round a golf nearby. Nice clean atmosphere with a couple of eat in tables. The Cashier was describing the sliders with fries to us. He said there are 4 sliders and they were about 2 bites each. We decided to give it a try anyway. He was right on... did not expect it to be that small but we were warned. Asked for crispy fries and can't complain because he described the sliders to the tee! Got lots of pickles and overall the chicken sliders were tasty; we ordered medium spice. The fries came out crispy as requested. The picture of the regular size chicken sandwich is to show it's probably a better meal size that you can split 1/2 with another person and you would get more than the mini sliders. We were okay with the small bites because we were warned! Overall the restaurant is a good place to get a quick bite with great service and clean atmosphere.

I love me some Dave's hot chicken and I swear I eat there every week. I only go to the San Leandro location because the employees are super cool. Quincy "THE MAN" who manages the store always has a smile on his face and goes the extra mile to make sure his customers are well taken care of! I

The manager and cashier were extremely friendly and welcoming. They greeted hs when we came in and were soeedy with the food. We got a few sliders and fries. Everything was crispy and fresh. As we were leaving, they also gave us a friendly salutation and surely know how to have a high energy environment.

First time at this location and it was better than I expected! I came here on a Saturday to order takeout for dinner. I ordered the #4 in medium spice. and it came out within 5 minutes. Customer service was nice and asked if I wanted ketchup and honey (some places don't offer anything unless you ask). There are couple of tables and chairs if you wanted to eat there. The place was pretty clean too. The slider was smaller than I thought haha but no worries, the food was just enough to make me full. The pickles and fries were delicious. Next time, I'll get the hot spice and probably will get a tender too to try. Location is street parking or you can park in the parking lot (near Safeway, Fieldwork Brewery etc). Dave's Hot Chicken is connected to Fieldwork Brewery and is across from Chipotle. I would come back here again if I'm ever craving Dave's Hot Chicken.

Better than I thought! It was not all breading! The tenders were moist and flavorful. Got the mild...super tasty!

Chicken tender really fresh really hot but not burn your tongue hot. The skin is almost as crispy as a chip. Seasoning as usual amazing seasoning, completely lathered in flavor. Moist juicy interior as usual too. Some good tender. I learned my mistake from last time and ordered medium spice. Medium spice still has a lot of flavor. Chicken slider, just as juicy and tender as the tender. Very reminiscent of chik fil a sandwiches but with more seasoning. When ordering, they will ask if u want cheese, its meant for the sliders. You can replace fries with cheesy fries but they dont ask about that. Fries, nice and hot, subtle crispiness, subtle flavor Daves sauce, like a creamier smoother thousand island. Also not much sauce in each packet. Guy gave me 2 packets Extra Chill cashier and music They ask if u want sauce when you get your order Comfy long chairs with cushions, nice tables. I LOVE this place! Dave's Hot Chicken never disappoints, the food is always fresh, hot, and packed with flavor! The service is on point every time.. super friendly and fast. I recently tried the new Mini Slider Box with fries and let me tell you... my brother ate that dowwnnn. It's the perfect portion and still hits just like the regular sliders. Big love to the San Leandro location, you all keep it consistent and I'll keep coming back!

Having never been to a Dave's Hot Chicken before, I was optimistic. I've heard great things about the chain but didn't think it would be much different than other fast food chicken joints. Now having eaten there, I can say the food is average. It's higher quality than other chicken spots, obviously KFC, Popeyes, but I found it around the same realm as Chick-filet-A. A different standard of average but overall nothing special. What was somewhat annoying was at this location my wife and I had no idea it was extra to add cheese on our sliders. I get that most patrons would know that in advance if they ate here before but we didn't and were surprised it cost a bit more than without. After eating it, we both agreed that the sandwiches wouldn't have tasted as good without it but common courtesy from a cashier who obviously realized we hasn't eaten at a location before should've informed this of the price increase. In addition to this, it took 20 minutes for us to receive our meal. The place wasn't slammed but from what we could assume was short staffed so orders were coming out in spurts of 1-3 at a time depending on the amount per order. It's also worth noting that only one bathroom was available. For a place as busy as it was, only having one bathroom working was a major inconvenience when multiple people had to use it at the same time. At most the line's were super short, but this issue needs to be fixed asap. The energy of the place was chill except for a few drunk customers coming in and trying to strike up conversation with us and believing they knew my wife when she had never encountered them before till that night. For me, this place gets a 3/5. The food was good and in my opinion worthy of take-out.

Way too salty..could easily 1/2 the salt on both the fries and the chicken. Couldn't eat it. I got the one slider combo and I tossed it. Stopped by this location of Dave's Hot Chicken located in downtown San Leandro for dinner this past Saturday. We had a pretty late dinner so luckily it wasn't too busy. However, they do get a lot of to go orders. The staff were welcoming and the restaurant was very clean, which I appreciated. We got an order with 2 tenders with fries and 2 sliders with fries, both medium spice. We completely forgot how filling the food is that my husband and I ended up taking one of the orders to go. I found that the chicken here was also better than other locations we've been to - it was juicy and evenly seasoned. We'll definitely back!

The food here is always on point!!! Extremely high quality and delicious. Bursting with flavor. Crispy chicken (but juicy inside). The establishment is so clean even the bathrooms. And the service and staff is great. Great place all around 10/10.

Dave's Hot Chicken never misses! The chicken is always perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside -- packed with flavor and that perfect spicy kick. You can really taste the difference in quality compared to other hot chicken spots.

I tried Dave's before and it was too spicy for me. I did not enjoy it. But then I tried the medium heat #3 combo, I really enjoyed it. The tenderness and crispness, really good. Customer service was perfect. She was friendly. Cool graffiti design inside.

First time visiting Dave's Hot Chicken. My wife and I are seniors and were confused with menu and what to order. Jessica took her time explaining each option and different items. Our order was received exactly as ordered. The chicken was also very good, juicy, and still warm when we got it home. Just want to point out that this place was clean, and other team members were taking care of other customers who didn't require our extra attention. Thanks for being patient with us boomers!

Update 1-27-2025 10pm. Same issue. I'm paying $5 for cole slaw and they can't even fill the cup. When I asks the staff for help, they look at me like I'm crazy.

Been meaning to try this place for awhile now. Everyone raves about it and they open one close by. I wanted to wait til the hyped died down. Easy to order, cashiers were nice. Got the slider and tenders. Quick service, store was clean. Went on a weekend and surprisingly wasn't busy yet. Chicken is super juicy! I got the medium spice and it was perfect, not too spicy. The sauce is sooo good, reminds me of raising canes sauce. My favorite though was the fries! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Def would come back here.they open late and have an option to order online which is a plus!

amazinggg... love the chicken bites. they're consistently good taste and texture- they never have those weird nasty chewy bits. flavor eats every time. the customer service is always so great no matter whose in there, food gets done pretty quick and they don't skimp on the dave's sauce or honey. the wall art gives a chill vibe, super cool super different.

I was looking for food late night and seen they were open decided to check them out. There was no line I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I was a little confused on the menu but decided on the medium slider and fries. Everything was so fresh. It wasnt spicy as I thought it would be but good the sauce was good. Also they have the good ice nuggets for those who love good ice. The customer service was great. After receiving my food he said I hope you enjoy. This location is pretty big.

First timer and I had to go to find out what was the hype about this place..well..it's all that and a bag of hot Dave's chicken. I ordered 2 pieces of chicken one hot and the other mild with side of kale slaw. This chicken was fire well cooked juicy and so much flavor. Oh and btw..that sauce was superior. The service was amazing and the ambience was lit.

Pretty solid, came by after a long fishing day and I liked the sauce they used! It was decently priced but nothing crazy to die for! Overall a spot you should try if you're in the area!

Marcus and Leslie are Rockstars. I came in around 9pm on May 26th and I was immediately greeted by Leslie. She wore a neat uniform with her hair back. She's definitely a pro at what she does and she took my order and asked follow up questions. Later she gave me a sample of the fried cauliflower, because I was asking about it and it didnt not disappoint. Marcus, also in a neat uniform with long black hair, was very busy around the kitchen and dining room, cleaning, cooking, attending to guest. I requested him to take a picture of me with the decor and he obliged. Everything from the food, service and ambiance was perfect. It gave integrity and professionalism.

I got the #4 slider and fries. It came with lots of extra pickles. They have speakers outside where you can hear the numbers they call, so you can wait outside for your order. Medium is do able for people who think takis or hot Cheetos is spicy. Mild barely tastes spicy. The slider was pretty good and if you dip it in sauce or honey, it's a whole different thing Stick to the soft drinks/sodas, the milkshake wasn't good. You're better off with an in n out one or McDonald's McFlurry

A decent fried chicken sandwich place in the busy San Leandro plaza area, it's between the chipotle and the brewery. There's plenty of parking but the parking is always kind of full so you'll either have to park far or wait for someone to leave on the weekends. Should be easier to find parking on the weekdays. You can order ahead for pick up, which is what I did. I can't eat spicy at all so I got the no spice slider with fries. The fries got soggy a lot faster in the take out container than other fast food and take out places which was a bummer but a quick trip in the air fryer crisps them up a bit. The seasoning in the fries weren't really even though. I personally think the special sauce here is a bit...average? It just kind of tastes like spicy mayo? I think the special sauce at raising canes is a lot better. I also don't think the chicken sandwich was anything really to rave about. The slaw wasn't super crunchy and refreshing, the bun was decent, and the fry was fine. I do like that they give you extra pickles on the side. In conclusion, not bad but not super good either. Kind of a basic, average, typical fried chicken burger.

Tried out Dave's Hot Chicken today for lunch. The sliders were pretty huge and quite filling. You can choose the spice level and I opted for hot. Taste wise, it was good, and had just the right amount of kick to it without being so spicy that you can't enjoy it. The only downside is the buns as they were a bit too flimsy to hold it all together. We had the two sliders with fries combo. Fries were crinkle cut fries which I love, and they also give you extra pickles and Dave's sauce which I liked.

They have a variety of heat to the chicken. Since I had the mild heat with fries I was very pleased with the meal. As this was my first time there, the counter service was quite helpful. A lot of take out orders.

The food is good ALWAYS ALWAYS super fresh. We love to add Cheese to our fries. The one thing about this place that we haven't figured out about this place is how to get our food spicy to our liking. Scared to tried the hottest spice level. My son loves this place so much he put it on his birthday wishlist Kind of pricey we always get the sandwich and two tinders, fries and a drink about $20

My husband and I came here to get a quick dinner. We ordered #3 (tender + slider) and added a single slider. Since we have different spice level preferences, we asked the staff taking our order whether we can specify different spice levels for each piece and she confirmed that we could. Although both our receipt and the labels on the boxes were correct, the food itself was mixed up. My slider was lite mild, even though I wanted mild. My husband's tender was mild, even though he wanted lite mild. Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but I definitely felt like there was more flavor with the mild. I also feel like the sauce doesn't add too much flavor to the chicken for me, so I'm not very keen on going back.

Dave's Hot Chicken opened quickly and efficiently in the corner space next to Fieldwork's Brewery. prime location. literally took days to assemble & open, it seems. can see signage on drive by. inside seating only. no patio. intimate setting whereby one can hear orders clearly. (better than Union City). offerings: sliders, tenders, combos, sides, drinks. no substitutions in combos unlike union city. eats: #3: one chicken sandwich, 1 tender, fries, (13.49) mild sauce -bun, bread miniscule, bland, pillowy, generic. -kale slaw with sandwich just a few strands. -chicken tender, slider, fried crispy, tasted crunchy, moist, juiceless -pickles and mild sauce were clear winners. -crinkle fries initially crispy. after 5 minutes, they were limp, stiff, 3.25 stars. pricey chicken, pedestrian fare, almost $20 if drink & side included. crumbs; -small inside dining with cool art, music. -close proximity of tables, dearth of space makes social distancing difficult when it gets busy. got out pronto when the students came in. everyone was unmasked.....didn't want to get covid (again). -chicken & fries don't travel well. better to eat ASAP. never tried reheating. hearsay it's not conducive to it. -limited parking at peak times makes dining here an adventurous venture.

Passed by here earlier this week (Monday) and it was a little slow. Decided to try it last night (Friday) and it was much busier. Staff and Service: - This definitely is more of a fast-food restaurant. Order at the register, get a number on a receipt, and they'll call you up by your number - The cashier was not rude, but she kept telling me what to do so fast that it made the experience feel rushed and confusing when it shouldn't have been (I.e. when I was going to swipe my card, she quickly told me in an ordering tone to swipe it then again to follow the instructions on the pad, and then to sign - in other words, all things I would have done anyway) Food: - Ordered the #2, which was a slider and fries. Turns out, it's TWO sliders and fries (quite a hefty meal). Glad that my meal wasn't super spicy or anything. The sauce that comes on the sliders is good and tasted different than the sauce the meal comes with. Drinks are sold separately. - Friend ordered the chicken tenders - also mild. Flavor was good. Miscellaneous: - Unlimited fountain drinks available - Two gender neutral bathrooms available - Spice levels: there are many spice levels available from no spice to Reaper. The medium spice level is about the spice level of a hot Cheeto (which is obviously subjective). And the mild is just under that. - Parking available in the shared parking lot outside of Fieldwork, or via street parking

This is a newly open location in downtown San Leandro. The employees there were really nice if there was any problem. The chicken was very seasoned but I think it was too seasoned on the outside. The chicken for the sandwich is not flat so it was hard to get an even bite with the bun, slaw and chicken in one bite. The chicken shape was more like a tender. The bun was a potato bun and it was very soft and yum. I really enjoyed the sandwich with honey that they provide. The sweetness helped balance out the spice líneas and saltiness. The fries were mediocre.

Baller Baller On A Budget Approved Establishment For Sure!!! Dave's Hot Chicken Opens Up across the Street from Chipotle and Right Next to Field Works Brewery!!!! I rolled in to Dave's Hot Chicken for my Saturday night dinner and I Ordered the French Fries with 2 Hot Chicken Sliders with Cheese and Everything on them!!! Plus a Regular Soda!!! I paid by Credit Card and within 15 Minutes they had my Food Ready!!! My Food came in a Bright Red To Go Box!!! The Sliders were made from Tenders So there was Plenty of Meat!!! And they were Spicy Hot !!! I enjoyed every bite and the Chicken was Delicious and Tender!!!! The box cut Kringle Cut Fry's where Krispy and Crunchy!!!! My meal was Filling and Satisfying!!! I'm glad to see the Down Town San Leandro Food Scene is Growing into a Gourmet Ghetto!!! With multiple Restaurant Choices and Beer Breweries opening Downtown!!! I've had Dave's Hot Chicken before but at a different location. I wanted to try it again because I was craving a spicy chicken sandwich and I thought my first experience was pretty good. Now, I can confidently say that Dave's Hot Chicken is one of my top choices if I were to ever crave a spicy chicken sandwich again. Their menu is pretty straightforward. Like before, I ordered the combo (1 tender + 1 spicy chicken sandwich). I don't really have any complaints regarding their sandwich, but all I can say is, the spicier it is, the better. I don't have a good spice tolerance but I think I'll continue ordering a spice level higher than what I previously ordered. This San Leandro location was quite busy. It is located in their downtown area so they do receive a high volume of customers so sometimes there could be a wait (but not too long). Because it's busy, sometimes there are no tables or even clean tables so you may have to clean it yourself if you want to sit (which sucks because the prior customers should do that!). Nonetheless, you should go try Dave's Hot Chicken yourself and you may add a new favorite spicy chicken sandwich place like me!

Mediocre juicy chicken tender slapped on in between a bun with a couple pickles. Nothing amazing Everyone saying "medium" is spicy but I really didn't taste anything. Even my girlfriend who can't handle spicy food did not taste the medium spiciness. We both agreed the next time we try she'll get hot and I'll try reaper. Chicken is also a little salty. the fries are nicely seasoned and crispy. Sauce tastes like a watered down thousand island. Service was fast!
