California Chain Dave’s Hot Chicken Is Opening a Restaurant in Tualatin | Eater Portland

"What began in spring 2017 as a tent in an East Hollywood parking lot—where Arman Oganesyan, David Kopushyan, Tommy Rubenyan, and Gary Rubenyan packed boxes of curly fries, kale slaw, and brick-red tenders—has grown into a phenomenon: after opening a brick-and-mortar in 2018 the team has expanded to nine California locations and one in Canada, and is opening in Tualatin in early May. The concept sticks to tenders rather than bone-in wings; those tenders come in seven spice levels (from no spice up to “reaper”) and can be ordered straight or in sliders with pickles and slaw, dripping in “Dave’s sauce.” Combos come with sides like mac and cheese, colorful slaw, and fries (optionally doused in cheese sauce). Oganesyan, who developed a soft spot for Howlin’ Ray’s, says the founders are choosing expansion based on requests and want to make clear this is the same crew who started it—not a faceless corporate operation. The Tualatin location will open at first offering takeout only, with possible future delivery and onsite dining." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

I ordered the medium spice chicken tenders, and wow — they were crispy outside, juicy inside, with just the right kick. There’s even a subtle cumin flavor that makes each bite extra flavorful. The crinkle-cut fries were hot and perfectly seasoned, and the pickles balanced everything out. Add a cold drink, and you’re all set! Highly recommend for anyone who loves bold, flavorful fried chicken.

Google
2nd time at Dave’s above and beyond quality chicken thank you again this time I had a mix of mild and medium, they were great, especially the medium has a little kick, but excellent flavor. Once again, I also love how the chicken is very juicy and tender. Thank you guys again.

Google
The employees were very polite, friendly, and helpful. The food was sooo good, and the Dave's sauce was definitely a good choice. The fries are crinkle-cut, which I don't usually like, but they're seasoned really well, so they're great! The wings (boneless) had great flavor, and the meat itself was good quality. We tried the mild, medium, and the spiciest one (I forget the name, maybe "super hot" or something?). We actually had to sign a liability waiver if we intended to eat the spiciest wings, so that should tell you how hot they are. Honestly, my spice tolerance is decent, but everyone in our group definitely teared up 🥵 We ordered a couple milkshakes, which really helped with the heat, but I wouldn't order the spiciest wings as your full meal 😅 All of the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself has really cool vibes-- would definitely go back!

Google
Thisnis the ONLY place ill eat breaded chicken. Worth the 40 minute drive, worth every penny, dime, nickel, quarter and dollar hahaha. I love this place so much and so does my family. Best chicken in the world!

Google
Best chicken i have had in a minute. I order some (hot) boneless wings, then on my sandwich, I order the (extra hot). Was it hot yes, not horrible if your in to heat. I do want to try there light mild which im sure will allowed me to taste and enjoy the sandwich a bit more.

My kids love this place! I stopped by to grab takeout for dinner and was genuinely impressed by the quality of staff training—or perhaps just great hiring. Lucas was incredibly kind, informative, and professional, making for a pleasant and efficient experience. Kudos to the team! Also, they play great music, support veterans, and I love the thriving Money Tree in the dining area—it adds such a nice touch!

Google
Wow!!! This place was awesome! Friendly and caring staff, great location, very clean, and super moist chicken! Mild and medium were not spicy at all, but the HOT was fire! The fries were really good as well and they even give you bread with your strips which helps with the heat. The best part is their officer/military discount was super generous! Will be back and am telling friends to give it a go!

Google
Dave's got the right stuff. Ive been to 2 in the greater portland and vancouver area. They're all kept to a high standard of cleanliness and the food is simple. But damn good. Those spice levels are no joke! Respect them. Haha

Yelp
I really have to pick and choose which reviews in which to invest my time, and this one deserves a great review. I've been to this location three times now, and each time, the ambience is pleasant , and the customer service is genuinely respectful, friendly and helpful. It's just a pleasant place to walk into. The food, of course, speaks for itself. It is delicious if it's what you're looking for! The chicken seems very fresh, and it is fried well. The condiments that come with it are also yummy! I wanted to mention again that this is a location where I have received especially a nice customer service a couple times and I think that deserves a lot of kudos! (Note to Dave's hot chicken staff in Tualatin: Whatever you are doing to stay so kind and helpful over there at Dave's in Tualatin, keep it up! We will go a little farther just to visit your location.)

Yelp
I was a little bit underwhelmed by the spice level. Ideally, it would've been a little bit hotter, but the flavor was really good, so I'm certainly not complaining. I'm sure I'll be back and now I know to go hotter than I do at other similar chicken places. Special shoutout to Emily--she was so super friendly and helpful and made our experience better than it would've been without such a kind soul working the register.

Yelp
On 10/23/25, Dave's Hot Chicken announced a promotion offering everyone a free slider. I have attached a copy of the promo so you can see that it does not specify any restrictions about the type of slider. However, after waiting in the long line, I was informed that it does not apply to the cauli (vegetarian) slider, even though that is actually cheaper than the regular slider. I guess DHC discriminates against vegetarians, Sikhs, and anyone else who cares about animal rights (or truth in advertising for that matter).

Joe M.

Yelp
I love Dave's! I love spicy fried chicken! This place is always good to me when I come in on a work trip. Their military discount is the best I've ever seen. The staff are very attentive and the service is excellent. I haven't been brave enough to try the reaper. I've had mild, medium, hot and extra hot. The #2 is my go to with top loaded fries.

Yelp
When I first heard about this popular Los Angeles hot chicken sandwich restaurant opening near me, I couldn't wait to try it! Now they have many locations around the Portland metro area, but this was the very first spot to open. Although I've had great food and experiences at multiple locations, there's something so consistently good about this spot. Everything I get here is perfectly seasoned and cooked. This time I had the one slider with fries. Maybe it was because I hadn't gone out to eat in over a week (due to the snow/ice storm), but this meal was so satisfying. I'm a sucker for dry rub chicken because it balances well with their special sauce. Also it's a huge plus that it is Halal-certified with their certification on display by the wall next to the kitchen. I hope this place continues to be awesome and amazing!

Yelp
Dave's hot chicken knows what they're doing when it comes to the main event aka the chicken. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and the spice levels are spot on. The fries are lacking, kind of basic school cafeteria fries. The cheese sauce is decent, but here's my big question: how do you serve hot chicken and not have ranch or blue cheese? That's a serious miss. It's almost a requirement at this point for a proper hot chicken experience. Overall, great chicken and solid concept, just needs a little more attention to the extras.
google avatar

Kat S.

Yelp
Chicken was tender and juicy and fries were good too. The seasoning has a hint of sweetness to it. Got the Oreo milkshake and "ice cream" part was too melty and kinda separating? Ordering was straightforward in person or order online, there isn't a phone in option. They give a buzzer for when the food is ready.
google avatar

Corinne K.

Yelp
Went there to pick up lunch for my boys the staff was amazing. Fast, friendly and efficient. Food was delicious as always keep up the fantastic job.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Had the slider. It was very good. Fast service and good tunes on the radio. I'm on a diet, so this was the wrong place to come. Thought they would have grilled. All fried. So I went off diet. Will I be back, maybe, but not till I'm over the dirt.

Yelp
I went with my partner who LOVES spicy food and chicken sandwiches, so I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately it's just average. You have two choices for a main meal: a chicken tender, or that same tender in a sandwich. I had the mild seasoning, and my partner got very hot. The mild seasoning for me had absolutely no spice, which would make sense if there wasn't a "mild lite" and "no spice" option above it. What could possibly be the difference between the other two?! The milkshake is literally just slightly melted soft-serve, I know that taste. Pretty disappointed with that and the cheese fries, which pop had cheap nacho cheese rather than melted American cheese like what they use on their sandwiches. The sandwiches were good, but I felt like they could have more flavor. This place has potential, but at the moment it's just an average chicken sandwich store.

Yelp
If you do one thing, do it well. Dave knows how to fry chicken. The spice levels are good. Started with a medium, and I think it was a little mild. I don't know how they have 3 spice levels under it. Other spicy chicken chains try to challenge people who like really spicy food. Not here. You won't need to sign a waiver to eat their spiceest chicken--and I don't want to. The hot and one above was good for me, and I did a lot of sweating.

Yelp
Dave's Hot Chicken is the best! Always making my order fresh and keeping up with quality. I appreciate all the employees and all the hard work that they do. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
It's decent but don't expect gourmet. It's competent fast food at a good price. Great for a late night snack when every other restaurant is already closed. If you're a late eater like me, you gotta count your blessings for these late night restaurants.

Yelp
The food remains good. But they are back to literally tons of single-use plastics... plastic cups with plastic tops and plastic straws, flimsy plastic utensils, condiments in plastic packets, takeout orders in plastic containers in plastic bag... so much cheap, flimsy, single-use plastic all destined for landfills. Let me be clear: I am not an environmentalist whacko. Plastic has its place. But my craving for a chicken sandwich shouldn't send so much of it to the landfill. And this place has another pet peeve of mine: this is a fast-foot-style restaurant. When you enter, you stand in line and place your order at the counter. You pay then-and-there (before even seeing your food). You find yourself a table and clean it if needed. You wait for your buzzer. You go to the counter and get your food. You carry it to your table. You fetch your own drinks. And when you're done, you clean up after yourself. There is no service. And yet they have the audacity to ask you for a 25% tip. A tip is for service. When there is no service, there is no tip. Oregon restaurant workers are paid full wage. Asking for a tip, much less a 25% tip is ridiculous. Again, the food basically good here, for what it is. But this place still leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
I love chicken, and I love hot chicken even more. I honestly can say that I have never had better chicken tenders than Dave's Hot Chicken. Juicy and flavorful and the level of spice is perfect depending on what you can manage. Dipping sauces Fantastic and staff is pretty awesome as well. For under $10 I was able to get two giant tenders and lots of sauce and pickles with the bread that just soaked up all the goodness
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
Fun place very popular with the teenage crowd. Food was great! You can have varying degrees of heat in your nuggets or chicken sandwich. I'll go with medium heat next time as the mild was, in fact, mild. Food was delivered promptly and almost with a smile. Fun place.
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten here a couple times now and it's really good. I've tried the sliders and tenders, mac & cheese and the waffle fries. Also their slushy or whatever they heck they are calling it. All the chicken entrees are solid. I could probably eat their sauces with a spoon. Haven't tried the top tier hot sauce, but I think I could do it. Nothing I've tried so far has melted my face. This place blows C-Fl out of the water.

Yelp
Dave's Hot Chicken is a flavor-packed experience that delivers on its promise of heat and taste. The succulent chicken, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, is a true delight for spice enthusiasts. The menu offers a range of heat levels to suit all preferences, and the flavorful sides complement the main attraction seamlessly. The friendly staff and efficient service enhance the overall dining experience, making Dave's Hot Chicken a must-try for those craving bold flavors and a satisfying meal. What I love is that it's open late too! M-Th opens till midnight and Fri/Sat till 1am. I recommend ordering through their website so you get your food faster.

Yelp
I wanted to post a letter that my son Hayden sent to this restaurant as part of an assignment as a 4th grader in Newberg. The staff at the restaurant reached out to the teacher & was extremely generous in providing lunch to the entire class in addition to a few goodies to my son for sending the note of appreciation (including an amazing red rubber chicken bandana). Dave's Hot Chicken is always one of his favorite restaurants especially when it comes to "testing" his spice levels. Again to the manager & staff at this restaurant, thank you for your overwhelming generosity. I am sure you have made a couple more loyal fans today. --- Dear Dave's Hot Chicken, Who does not like a rubber chicken? Personally, I love rubber chickens. Why? Because I love annoying people with it's loud sound. There is just a naturally funny thing about rubber chickens. So, whenever I walk into Dave's Hot Chicken I laugh and think it is hilarious your mascot is a rubber chicken. My favorite is the astronaut chicken on the wall. I also like the graffiti like artwork. There is a lot of fun stuff to look at. The spice of the chicken is very tasty. My favorite is the medium chicken. I love spicy food. I have even made my own hot sauce with a ghost pepper in it! Your medium Chicken is just the right amount of spice. I also like that you put bread under your chicken. It tastes good because you get some of the spice from the chicken on the bread. The fries are also amazing. I love how they are crinkle cut. Its great that my dad can order ahead from the app. So then, I do not have to wait for our order. Our food is always ready when we get there. The employees at the counter are always really nice. The restaurant and restrooms are always clean and tidy. The employees work hard to keep the restaurant clean. Sincerely, Hayden

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE!! Simple menu but when you make good food, that's all you need! I got the #3, which had a slider and a tender, and went with medium for my heat level. I really liked that heat! Hot enough to give me an enjoyable taste with every bite but not too hot where I had to stop eating or take a drink. Next time I come I want to try the next level up, "Hot", and see how that feels but medium is definitely a winner! Bear in mind though we all have different levels of heat we can take. My mom is pretty sensitive when it comes to spicy foods and got two tenders with Light Mild, the first level of heat, and that was a bit too hot for her. The chicken was fantastic! Super crispy skin for a satisfying crunch and very tender and juicy inside. Definitely one of the best tenders I've eaten. Plus they were thick which is always a good thing. The fries were so freaking good too. Cooked perfectly for that signature crunch. Dipping the fries and the chicken tender in Dave's sauce is a must! But they also have ketchup and honey packets available too if you'd prefer those! The only bit of criticism I have was the amount of slaw in the slider. Just wasn't enough in my opinion so next time I go, I'll ask if they can double the amount even if it costs a little extra. With the amount of slaw I had, it was gone after I had eaten about half the slider. But I did appreciate the extra pickles they provided. Stacked those into my slider and that was yummy. Overall Dave's Hot Chicken was freaking amazing and I'm so glad I stopped here. Highly recommend! Just make sure you eat your food as soon as possible so you can properly enjoy the crispy juicy tenders and crunchy well seasoned fries in all their glory!

Yelp
I was wanting to try this place out because I heard it was great. I ordered take out and chose 2 mild strips and fries. When I got there to pick it up, the manager said it would be right up and was very helpful asking what sauces I would like etc. I was excited to see it came with crinkle fries because I like those and they're hard to find. I ordered mild strips and I have to say they still are a bit spicy. So if you were someone who can't handle any spice you may want to ask them if they can just do them bare with nothing on them. I enjoyed the strips and the fries were cooked perfectly. I will be back!

Yelp
Dave has a ridiculous idea of spice level cause holllllyyyyyy cow. I love spicy food, but the "hot" one was super spicy!! Overall, I have ZERO qualms about Dave's hot chicken. Not a single one. Firstly, it's an incredibly well done spicy chicken sandwich. It's a dry rub and not too greasy at all. But if you take the spice out of it, it's just a great chicken sandwich overall! The pickles were delicious and honestly needed with the hot one to cut some spice. The slaw was fresh and had bits of kale in it. The bun... LETS HEAR IT FOR THE BUN YOU GUYS! Dave did it right. And these are considered "sliders" but they're def huge. We got the two slider and fry combo and were stuffed. Plus ordered a side of Mac & cheese cause duh. For 2 sliders, fries, drink, and Mac and cheese it was a little over $20 but worth it 〰The hot scale in my opinion is: "Hot" is hella spicy and "medium" is very hot but perfect for a spice lover. So if you can't tolerate spice, this may not be the place? But idk what mild is like at all. So go ahead and risk it cause it's sooo good. 〰 The standout for me, was the crinkle cuts. Now hear me out... if I had to pick a "worst shaped fry" it would probz be crinkle cut cause they're rarely crispy! Ya know? But these were seasoned and crisped to perfection. And the Dave's sauce was delicious but came in the squeezy thing so you had to work for it. The Mac and cheese was an elevated Kraft but honestly, that was totally satisfying to me & it wasn't expensive to add. Just wish it was fully full to the top when we got it.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Always great food and great customer service! 10/10 would recommend for lunch or dinner. My recent favorite has been their Dave's bites.

Yelp
First time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. I gotta say it was pretty delicious. The pros for me where: the space is clean, the staff was polite, the hot was actually hot. I mean really hot. The fries were good. My order came up quick. The portions are generous. The sauce was great. The cons for me where: there was maybe too much seasoning on everything. The menu was very small with not that many options. Nothing on the menu was even remotely healthy. The final verdict for me is, yes it was delicious but only something I would get on occasion.

Matthew L.

Yelp
Yo... get yourself some of this stuff. It's great. Service is great, place is clean and food is always consistently good!

Tatyana L.

Yelp
It was a great place to stop by for a quick lunch. The sliders taste amazing , and fries well seasoned. Kid -friendly meal. If they had different buns, I'd then give 5/5.

Yelp
I was very impressed with my first visit to Dave's. Nothing really stood out as far as service, my order was taken and I received what I asked for...not overly friendly but certainly not rude. My stars are all for the food, cuz I found it goooood! No drive-thru (booo), so I ran in to order and loved the minimalist In n Out type menu. I wanted to try as much as possible, so I picked combo 3 so I could try the slider and tender. You get to choose your heat level, and not knowing what to expect I opted for lite mild. I was happy, a lil heat but it didn't overtake the flavors. The only negative was that a drink isn't included with the meals. They weren't crazy busy but steady, and I felt the wait time was decent. I brought my meal back to my car to eat. Just opening the box was a feast for the eyes, the meal looked very appealing. And HUGE...I was surprised at the oversized pieces they serve up...definitely not your average sized tenders. I started with the slider, and although I intended to try both, I loved the sandwich so much I stuck with it. No way was I going to get to the tender with the size of it AND the yummy spiced fries. I do not like slaw, on or off a sandwich...and I don't really go for pickles on my chicken...but I dove right in and loved the whole masterpiece as it was. And don't forget Dave's sauce, another plus...I dipped my fries and sandwich, probably could just eat it straight and not feel bad about myself. I did feel guilty for enjoying the meal without the hubby though, so I brought the rest of the fries and the tender back to him to try. And while it didn't heat up quite as good as when fresh, it was still appreciated. Very satisfying meal for me at Dave's. For this gal it was a top chicken sandwich. I'm ready to return, and doing a happy dance that another location is opening nearby.

Yelp
Dave's Hot Chicken is opening up all over Portland and after eating here, I can see why! The chicken is both crispy and juicy and loaded with flavor! I'm not a fast food person preferring take out from a Thai restaurant if I don't feel like cooking, but this place has delicious chicken! Menu is small, which means they do a few things, but do them right. It also helps manage the long lines! - Two piece tenders (large strips of chicken breast,) crinkle fries & bread. - Two chicken sliders with crinkle fries and kale slaw. Yep, kale, and it's good! - The combo, which I got, one chicken tender and one slider with fries & slaw. You choose your spice level and even though I like spice, I went with medium which was perfect. Too hot and you can't enjoy the flavor of the chicken, imo. Sides like mac & cheese (of course) and more fries, kale slaw, single slider or single tender also available. Definitely worth checking out!

Tia J.

Yelp
I had high hopes this place would be really great. Unfortunately, it wasn't. We ordered a few different options from the menu to get a taste for different things. The main problem is, everything tastes exactly the same! It didn't make a difference if it was mild or very spicy, it all tasted the same with the same amount of "heat". The fries are cheap, half done, crinkle fries but that's not what we came for so it doesn't make a big impact of the review score. The chicken itself was served hot and cooked throughly. The side pickles are good and a great addition to the sandwiches. The counter staff was pleasant and moved the short line along quickly. The dining room isn't cleaned regularly so we went in search of a towel to be able to clean all the food and drink spills off of a table to be able to sit down. The staff member we asked was very bothered by the request and said we weren't allowed to have a towel and she would be out to wipe our table when she could. She was unpleasant when she came out to do a quick wipe down and disregarded another table that was clearly trying to ask her to do the same to their table. Overall, I didn't feel like the meal or the attitude was worth the price here. If you love chicken it's probably worth a try but it's not on our come back list.

Meagan G.

Yelp
I loved everything about this meal. We don't have DHC restaurants in Washington and decided to give it a go as an easy meal between fast food and a true sit down. My husband and I split a #2 (2 sliders with fries) and the Mac and cheese. We chose "hot". This was plenty for us, although we did not come in absolutely starving. I was surprised by the size of the sliders. I felt like it was basically the same weight as a chick fil a sandwich. Loved that the buns were not cut all the way through and it kept a bunch of the goodness from falling out! The slaw was not too runny, and the pickles to die for. Mac and cheese was very creamy, flavorful....just right for me!

Yelp
First time trying! *Warning* So, I got Mild & man that was SPICY I love spicy lol but this was way spicier. If you're trying for the first time I would start small. There is a hot level sheet by register. Chicken is good. Wasn't dry at all. There was flavor. Pickles are bomb! Cheese Fries are bomb as well! It's a simple order/ process which I liked! Seating was pretty open & lots of room- which was nice. Service was fast! Customer Service was great. Our server was Martha and she was very friendly & while gathering supplies she asked us if we liked our chicken- which we did. You order at counter and then grab your order. Would I return? Yes, but lol less mild chicken.

Yelp
Food was really really good! Only down fall was every table in the place was dirty. Will get the food to go in the future. Will be back

Yelp
Hot damn! Dave's hot chicken hit the spot. In the mood for a snack, A and I headed here with baby in tow. We both got combo #3 which is one tender and one slider with fries. Got to try it all! We appreciate the simple menu and that everything already comes included like the pickles and sauce for the perfect complement. A went with medium and I got mild. We are spicy loving people but with reaper level on the menu we got gun shy. Glad we did cuz mild still had a little spice and medium was still enjoyable so unsure what reaper is like since medium is right in the middle of the scale. Biting in, the chicken was really juicy with a crispy crust. The crinkle fries were perfectly crispy with soft inside too! Service was very fast and friendly! Will definitely go back. Lines on weekends so aim for a weekday when visiting!

Yelp
Pretty good chicken. First of all, order on their website not through this app. Otherwise, you'll pay an extra $3 bucks per meal. Ease of ordering and pick up were great. It said 20 minutes, but our food was ready by the time we walked in at 15. My husband and I both ordered two sliders and fries. Holy Batman! Those are not sliders. Maybe a better term would be Mega Slider. And the size of the side of fries was nothing to scoff at. It's a good amount of crispy taters. We totally could have shared just one meal with an extra side of fries. And we don't eat like birds. We each had a Megabird Slider left over. Yay for lunch tomorrow. Totally unexpected. Definitely good value for your money. Now for heat. I ordered a reaper because I like heat. I'd give it a 7ish out of 10 for heat. It wasn't unbearable and didn't leave a lasting sting. It was an okay heat. It didn't even make my nose run though! But if you can't stand heat, it'll make you sweat. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the seasoning tasted a little off to me. Not sure what it was. I'd rather have sauce than a dry rub anyway, but overall it's a fantastic chicken for a good price.

Yelp
Rating is a 3 because of the lack of protective packaging- pictures attached. It came in a plastic bag with no tie or safety measures(pic). The 2-medium spice tenders I didn't eat because the container was not sealed(pic). And I didn't eat the kale slaw because it looked like someone had already eaten some; food on sides and rim, and was 2:3 full (pic). I did try the reaper and it is SPICY/HOT. Any review stating otherwise, they have no tastebuds left. I'm a spicy gal, and it was next level. Not inedible, but I do like to taste the actual food not just the heater ;) Also had the side of mac, it was ok. Like Kraft, but with a little extra flavor. The Dave's sauce was good with the fries, but because it was deliver the fries were cold. I would try Dave's again, just not delivery.

Yelp
Finally after months of watching this place get built, today was the day they opened - Hurrah! They are well organized for (soft) opening day. I waited a few min to place my order and then it took about 25 min for my food to be ready, but there were dozens of people waiting already. They were busy! We got 2 chicken tender combos - 1 with medium spice and fries, the other with mild spice and slaw. There was a slight difference in the seasoning blends. The crinkle fries were dusted with the same spice as the mild chicken. Medium was decently hot but definitely not too spicy. Mild was slightly sweet. Each combo came with 2 slices of white bread, some special sauce (too sweet for me), and some fantastic dill pickle slices. Plenty of food! Each tender is quite large - I only ate one and will have the other for lunch tomorrow. The breading is just the right amount and it stayed crispy. The chicken itself was very juicy. Overall, I was really impressed. Glad I don't have to drive into Portland for good hot chicken anymore!

Yelp
Limited menu with three items. Well, it's only two items third is a combo. 2 tenders 2 sliders 1 tender 1 slider So, you get two tenders, white bread, coleslaw, stack of pickles and crinkle frys. Or. Two tenders on two white bread bun with coleslaw and pickles and crinkle frys, Or. Two tenders, white bread and white bread bun, coleslaw, pickles and frys. Hummmmmm? Isn't that just one thing? Well, you have a choice on how it's served. Like 5 Guys but 5 Guys has way, way better frys and a bigger menu. I had the cheese frys, bad choice, the frozen potato crinkle fry and some canned cheese sauce, maybe not real cheese. I was very sad as I was hoping for some shredded cheese like cheddar or pepper jack. But was short changed with bad frys and bad cheese sauce. Why am I being so critical on this place, because they want you to spend 11 or 12 bucks Plus Tip on TWO Chicken Strips and some BS sides. Each tender is a half a chicken breast. At Bigs Chicken you can get a half of their great chicken and you can order some very delicious sides like dirty rice or mash or some great Jojos or grilled broccoli,or grilled corn in season. Heck, at Whole Foods I can get a whole rotisserie chicken for under 9 bucks. I ordered two number ones each with an extra tender, a side of coleslaw and a side of cheese frys plus 18% tip (for no service or table or anything) $45.05. The chicken tenders are good but not that good. Ok, the main point of this place is fast food HOT chicken. They have five different levels of spiciness. Mild, Medium Hot Extra Hot Flaming Hot , I think. Good to have choices and I picked medium and hot. Both very juicy chicken breast meat tender with crunchy outside of a good size. Both had nice spicy. Yes good chicken tenders...... and that's all. So sad. Only the chicken can hold up to Bigs Chicken, all the rest falls flat and there is no value ( feed a family of four ~ $48 plus Tip for takeout ). I have to give it only one star. Location: it's ok with parking 0 stars Ambience: nothing interesting on the inside 0 Service: fast food, no table service 0 Food: good chicken but expensive 1 star Something Extra: nope. 0 Don't understand why anyone would want to drop nice sitin dining dollars for chicken tenders.

Yelp
Clean and fast like for grand opening day. Hot chicken is da bomb! TENDER JUICY AND DELISH. Worth the drive out to Tulalatin! Definitely cannot wait for their online ordering system to be up and running in May.

Yelp
Even though the "Reaper" made my stomach hurt in a way that felt like someone was stabbing me in the gut, ever since I tried Dave's Hot Chicken in LA I've been dreaming about trying again. I was shocked when I learned they'd be expanding to Portland of all places! The Dave's Hot Chicken in Portland loses some of the heat (I had the Extra Hot sandwich and was barely sweating), but the chain has lost none of its quality! Each "slider" is actually a normal sized burger bun with a HUGE, juicy hunk of fried chicken. The combo comes with two of these babies and a side of fries. It's such a good deal. The flavors are on point, especially the contrast of their special mayo with the chicken. Dave's Hot Chicken puts Chik-fil-A to shame

Yelp
Decided to go on the 2nd opening day. The line was pretty long but moved fairly quickly. Took us about 35 mins to order from standing as far back as usbank. When you get closer there are chicken markers on the group to promote spacing. Overall the line moved quicker than expected. Fast forward to the food. The chicken was still quite juicy with the skin really crispy. I had a hot and very hot tender and a medium slider. I would have to say the hot chicken was the one for me. It had a good kick that every few bites I would be slightly overwhelmed. Once that subsided I would be back to normal for a few more bites. I felt that was a good balance of heat and still enjoying the meal. For some reason the very hot wasn't spicy and the medium almost felt like no spice at all to me. They gave a lot of pickles so it was a good piercer to the hot flavors. The fries were meh.

Yelp
I saw another yelp review and my not so secret love is a spicy fried chicken sandwich. You know the one, breaded, fried, drenched in spicy, piled with pickles and a some butter lettuce. This was close, no lettuce, a coleslaw with kale, I kept mine on the side. Coleslaw belongs on a pulled pork sandwich, not a fried chicken sandwich. The slider was a nice medium, flavorful, and a perfect size for me. Ordering the tender/slider combo, I didn't care for the chicken alone. Now, trust me very good, but seem to be missing something. Maybe it's as simple as the bun and pickles. Crinkle cut fries were delightful.

Yelp
Dave's Hot Chicken does one thing and one thing only... chicken. You can get it in as a tender or a slider. The only real difference is the slider has a bun but the same tender is used in both applications. They have seven variations of hot sauce from. "No spice to reaper". I had one slider with medium heat and a side of fries. The slider was tasty. With a fair amount of heat. Next time I would try the next heat selection up as it wasn't terrible spicy for me. I would give the slider a 3/5 stars. It was an average sandwich from a fast food restaurant. The fries were pretty flavorful but a touch cold and not very crispy. I would give them a 2/5 stars. I don't mean to be super critical. It was "fine" as a quick fast food meal during the day.

Yelp
Okay so when they say hot chicken they mean hot and spicy chicken! First bite was really good but after that I could no longer feel my tongue!! It was tasty for sure but just too hot for my taste

Yelp
After having tried so many versions of crispy chicken sliders, this one is on a whole different level. The spice profile is definitely not your average blend. I don't know if I'm wrong or right, but I can taste a hint of middle eastern flavors which is so different but it totally works. The layers of crunchy but juicy chicken, spicy, sweet (drizzle some of that honey), and tangy from the pickles and kale slaw, makes everything taste so yummy! I like that you can customize the spice level although I can only handle nothing more than maybe a medium at the most! I'd be terrified to go beyond that, lol. Oh and don't forget their special Dave's sauce!

Yelp
Parking is tight and the staff were polite and helpful. But the table was sticky and dirty as were many other things. The outside dining area was hotter than inside area. The savings grace is the chicken was moist and delicious with a great spicy coating and the Dave's sauce is very tasty. But with eight young people working, you would think that they would clean the tables better.

Yelp
The place is kind of hit or miss. The food pretty much always tastes good, but sometimes it can cause stomach issues. Due to this, I think there are some quality control issues. The place looks very modern. There is a lot of seating. The staff is super nice. They are helpful and focus on giving you a good experience! The place is pretty open and have multiple different seating locations. Color really pops as the place is predominantly white!
