The line for the yearly free slider was long but moved very quickly. Service was prompt and helpful where the order was received within 10 minutes. Overall the food was savory and they were accommodating of removing or adding certain sauces or toppings. Overall great experience!

Wow. I'm from Europe and tried quite a few fastfood chains in the USA, but Dave's Hot Chicken is one to remember! The chicken breast is breaded perfectly and fried until golden brown. The seasoning I ordered was a match for me (medium) and the taste was superb. I also really liked their signature sauce that I also ordered on the side. Shout out to the staff of this location, they were so accommodating and friendly. It realy changed the atmosphere inside! I'll be back whenever I find another branch of Dave's!

Really disappointed in my recent order. I order DoorDash from here all the time and although pricey I can at least say the tenders are big enough to where you can get full and feel like you got your money worth. This time however my tenders were not big and juicy at all. Which is crazy because I literally just ordered from them last night! Totally different experience and the thing is DoorDash isn’t going to refund me or fix it because it’s DoorDash and nothings missing I just don’t like the size of the tenders. Literally last night they were so big I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting. Today it’s like hmmm will I even be full. I wouldn’t pay 16$ plus a delivery and service fee for this. & I tried to call and couldn’t reach anyone

The app wasn’t working right, but they still gave me a free milkshake. The food is tuff — I never even liked slaw before but it goes insane with the sandwich. The Reaper is hotter than the sun. And the employees are actually even nicer than Chick-fil-A, which say a lot. The place itself has a really cool vibe too. plays lots of 80s and 90s classics. the mac and cheese with honey and bits of chicken is a lil secret special

Service is always personable, chicken is always great. They have different spice levels to satisfy what you’re after.

Really enjoyed the food, always love eating at Dave's, I recommend going with the extra hit for the chicken if you have a bit of spice tolerance. Staff was nice, location was convenient, decor could be better.

The man that served me was very welcoming and kind. He treated me very nicely, greeting me when I came in, asking if I needed help and giving me time to decide. It felt like he was taking care of me like he would his own family or friend. He gave me two extra packets of Dave's sauce and a water cup as well. I can tell he loves his job with his excellent customer service. Of course, the sandwich was delicious, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, and the fries were crunchy and seasoned well. Their mac and cheese, which I had last time, was just alright but not worth getting again.

This historic theater has been renovated and updated. The old lobby is now Dave's hot chicken. The atmosphere is urban pop art flare mixes with neoclassical architecture and some murals that they duplicated as original. The girl who helped me was full of energy and I had never been and gave me all the sauces to try and of course Dave's sauce.

So the food... AMAZING. I love coming here to eat. The food is also a good portion for just one person. The chicken is SEASONED and the fries are amazing. I don't usually like to eat fries, but I can come and eat the fries here any day and anytime. This place probably has my favorite seating area in Columbia Heights... the place is huge and it looks beautiful. The service is also very good. They are so attentive and nice. I can see that they also really like working there.

Tried this place for the first time and it isn't worth all the hype tbh. Chicken isn't juicy but isn't dry. Was overly seasoned too. Was it good? Yes it was good, however, I can think of other fried chicken places I'd rather keep going to. So definitely a three star kind of place. Come if you're hungry but I don't think a 2 piece tenders and fries (drink not included) isn't worth the price it is. The service was okay and I really liked the decorations around the restaurant. It had a very modern vibe to it. Dave's sauce is addictive and so are the fries. Chicken was subpar so I most likely wouldn't stop here again.

Hey friends! I went to the Zoo Lights at the National Zoo and found this place nearby on Yelp. This place offers chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, shakes and more! I ordered the Dave's No. 4 meal($9.99). I enjoyed the sandwich! Only distaste was that the bun wasn't toasted. I enjoyed the special sauce that comes on the side. It's a mix of a sweet and savory sauce. I love pickles, it came with many pickles. You can choose your spice level, I chose medium. Not too hot, not too mild. Fries were cooked well. The interior is pretty large. Many tables to dine-in. All orders are placed at the counter. Customer service was friendly. Parking is paid and limited. Fries: Actually seasoned! It is rare you get a fast food (or any place really) that actually seasons their fries. Win for me. Sliders: I got 2 sliders, a "hot" and "extra hot". Good flavors and juicy tenders. I enjoyed the kale slaw and the sauce works well. I have a very high spice tolerance so both of the sliders were not very spicy to me. They are hotter then your normal "spicy" offering at other similar places so if you think a jalapeño is spicy, be ready. I am excited to try the Reaper heat next time and I hope it lives up to the hype, as of now I doubt it...

Pro: food delivery app. Con: None. Was looking through the Uber eats app to see what to eat and happen to across Dave hot chicken. After looking at the many positives yelp reviews I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the 1 tender, 1 slider with fries, and small vanilla shake. For the tender I chose the very hot option while for the slider just hot. The fries were season adequately but maybe just slightly too salty. The tender was nice & juicy while burning my tongue with that blazing seasoning xD. The slider was also good so no complaint there. The vanilla shake with sweet which helps balance from the spicy tenders. All in all, had a positive experience eating from this establishment and would recommend anyone to give this place a try.

I came here with some friends on a Friday evening. There's an area to order and a lot of seating in the back. The staff at the ordering counter was really friendly and helpful! I ordered the #3 and got it mild. I loved the slider - it wasn't spicy, so I think next time I could go up to a medium. My friend ordered the hot and said it was also manageable for her. The chicken was extremely tender. The tender came with bread and pickles. It seemed that most people do takeout, but the seating area was also really nice. I would definitely come back!

My son has been telling me about this spot for a long time. So I surprised him with lunch for his birthday. The service here was great and the staff were friendly. I didn't expect for the inside to be so big. Beware that parking is hard to find. The price was great for the amount of food you get. I got my son the slider mild with fries. I tried the fries and they were good. My son said the chicken sandwich was a little too salt for him. He did say he would go back. I would try a sandwich next time too.

We went to Dave's today for lunch. Situated on a corner in NW DC, this place is not hard to miss. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by employees telling you "Welcome to Dave's." The place is SPOTLESS. It was extremely clean, the countertops, the dining area, everywhere. They have some nice decorations and painted murals on the walls and a good mix of top 40 music playing. We ordered the sliders, tenders, cauliflower bites and fries. Yes, the entire menu and it was all good. We chose mild and medium spice for everything and it didn't disappoint. No one in our group is a fan of crinkle cut fries, but Dave's were amazing. They are seasoned to perfection. I definitely recommend you check this place out.

I love the chicken tenders here and the Dave's sauce is amazing. The menu items are limited but everything they make, they make it well. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is incredibly welcoming. Even though it's a fast casual restaurant, the manager checked on me several times this evening to see if I needed anything and made me feel appreciated to be there. A great addition to my neighborhood.

I recently picked up an order from here. As a pescatarian, I don't often find great substitutes, but this cauliflower slider was the one perfectly crisp! It was also very filling. I definitely could not have eaten more than one! It could've used a little more seasoning, but that's probably because I asked for mild. The place also looked very clean.

Bruh this place is so goooood. I tried to get one slider with cheese and one without but they put it on both and ~I am not mad~ also splurged for the cheese fries which was def lit but I don't think I need to. Quick pickup but they were confused that I bought through Yelp -- I think they were expecting a DoorDash or Uber eats confirmation screen.

Dave's Hot Chicken was pretty okay. The young man that took my order was pleasant and we had a great laugh even if it was momentary. This place has changed hands so much that the inside is off-putting to me. The mural on the wall is wonderful. I let my friend try it too and she likes it and thinks it's good. You have to sign a waiver if you're going to eat the Reaper sandwich or tenders. 3 of 5 stars.

service was fine and friendly.and wait was average.the chiken tenders were over spiced and got my hands full of red dye.super dry chicken not even with the "Dave's sauce" which is just another typical mayo ketchup sauce.that was super tasty. the ambiance was great had beautiful artwork.overall the rating is low because with two chicken tenders a pice of bread fries and a shake I could have bought two good meals at panera bread. the whole meal was $25 plus tip.we wouldn't revisit after that first low experience.if it was my fist time I would not visit.

Dave's Hot Chicken is a fast food restaurant that serves halal fried chicken sandwiches. The chicken is very flavorful and crispy. They have various levels of heat, with a really nice sauce on the side. They also have a plant based variety call "Dave's NOT Chicken" which is basically a fried cauliflower steak, which I really appreciate. Overall the food is delicious. The only thing I didn't care for was the cheesy fries. The cheese wasn't flavorful, and the fries seemed like they were just store bought frozen fries.

Dave's exceeded expectations for me! I have been searching for good Nashville Hot Chicken and nowhere in Maryland made it right until Dave's! The chicken was juicy, hot and flavorful! Crunchy on the outside with the exact right amount of spice. I ordered the hot and medium. I will do hot every time from now on but i like spice. If you don't, go mild. Inside was fun decor. Chickens in different costumes. The DC 14th St location was an old theater so this played into that. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. You order at the front. The cashier was very nice and explained the heat levels. They open a new location in Owings Mills this Friday! See you there! Thank me later!

We drove over an hour to eat this delicious chicken tenders. They have different levels of spiciness, I ordered the medium and although it was delicious it was spicy. Juicy, tasty chicken! Brought my siblings who don't do spice, and they enjoyed the soulful tenders.

Hot, yummy, crispy and so good! I think the food was 10/10. The credit card machine was acting up, it denied my car 2 times but approved another card and same thing happened to my partner. I definitely would eat this again.

Found this on Instagram and I just happened to be driving by on my way to a part time gig. There is a guy standing out front yelling "Dave's Hot Chicken". He deserves a raise for the attention he draws to this place. I decided to stop in mainly because of him. It was around 7pm and the place was EMPTY. I should have known. It took about 15 mins to get my food but everything was piping hot. I ordered the Dave's 2 tenders meal. Instagram 5 stars. Reality, 3 stars. Long chicken breast on a Hawaiian roll. Nothing special. Small basket of fries. Be sure to ask for extra seasoning or these could have been a fail. If you're in the area I'd give it a shot but don't go expecting to be blown away

Have a new favorite chicken sandwich in town! I mean, look at that patty-to-bun ratio, people! The slider was juicy and I can handle a bit of spiciness, but the "hot" level is probably the max for me. I may try "medium" next time. Fries were pretty good, I tucked a few away before taking the photo. The vanilla milkshake reminded me of the McDonald's one. It's nice to dine in at this location - I like how parts of the former Tivoli Theater were kept intact. The staff are also welcoming. One evening before I finally stopped in, I was across the street and heard a staff member at the entrance joyfully announcing Dave's hot chicken! Come and try it! - so much enthusiasm. I'll be back.

Dave's hot chicken is new in Columbia, and we are so happy they opened it up! The food and service were great. Karla, specifically was super kind and attentive and we will definitely be back!

It's LITT they FINALLY brought the best chicken spot to the DMV! Guys this Drake sponsored restaurant is only in very limited locations and is still fairly new company in general. The chicken is juicy, crispy, not super greasy, and taste fresh. The spice on the chicken is super flavorful. There's various spice levels I got the Hot which is like one notch above Chick-fil-a spicy chicken in regards to heat. Flavor wise, it doesn't even compare Dave's is wayyyyy better. In regards to portion you get a ton of food for a really good price. If there're two people I would recommend getting the number 2 it comes with two "sliders" which is a chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken sliders come with slaw, pickles, and a special sauce. Drinks don't come with the meal. The service was hype and nice. They were really fast at getting the food out, but it wasn't packed. There's tons of seating. There's a lot of booths for larger groups as well. The ambiance and very dope. They do a street style vibe you'd see in places like LA. The restaurant was clean. If you read my reviews from a month prior you'll see I discovered Dave's on a trip to Long Beach, CA. I fell in love, it was easily the best chicken sandwich I've ever had and yet, I had to say goodbye to it on the West Coast. Well turns out there's a Dave's in DC so to celebrate I ordered the party pack of sliders (20) and everything is as good as I remember. I decided to get a mix of mild, medium, and hot. The hot, in my opinion is the perfect combination of spices. It's hot enough to make you sweat but isn't unbearable. The folks who greeted me at the restaurant were super nice too and helped make sure my order was received on time. 10/10 I cannot wait for the Maryland location to open.

Checked this place out on opening day. My friend who lived in LA recommended this place as one of his favorites. It lived up to hype. It was very lively inside and are welcoming. Since its new the managers ask if you need help with menu. There are 4 combo options of combinations of chicken sandwiches and tenders. I got the one with two sandwiches and fries. Once you order they will ask if you want sauce and cheese on your sandwiches and fries. I got it on all of them. The. You wait to have your number called. Once your number is called they'll ask you if you want fork and knife, more daves sauce, ketchup, or honey. Overall was a great first impression staff was nice and helpful and service was quick. The food was very good. I got my chicken extra hot. It was perfectly the seasoned and the heat was right for me but it is spicy. Chicken has a nice crunchy skin. The pickles with sandwich are must since it adds a great texture to sandwich. It also has a nice tangy slaw. The extra sauce is a must too since the sauce with it will not cover the sandwich and the fries. Overall a very good and will be back.

Lives up to the hype! Dave's hot chicken has super friendly staff and delicious food. We came right when they opened and avoided a line. We got their slider extra hot and tenders hot. For sides we got fries and the Mac n cheese. Sides were great especially the Mac n cheese. The extra hot spice level wasn't as spicy as I anticipated, but the next level is their reaper which is the hottest level. Not sure if I have the guts to try it but I wish their extra hot was spicier. There's lots of seating available and food comes pretty quick. Overall a great spot and I know I'll be coming back!

For value for money, this place is definitely 5 stars. We stopped here after letting our three children play at magic ground. This place was clean, had extraordinarily friendly staff for fast food/fast casual and the food was delicious for our diverse family which included 2 vegetarians, a baby, a picky eater and some who want spicy and some who do not. We fed our family for 45 dollars and included two orders of no-chicken cauliflower bites, Mac n Cheese, a milk shake that our children split and two orders of chicken tender sandwiches and fries. We even had leftovers. But the best part was the restaurant was very clean and staff were very courteous.

I am a frequent patron of chicken spots; however, one thing that sets the DC location of Dave's Hot Chicken apart is the incredible class the staff have in serving their guests. In particular, we had the pleasure of being served by Janiyah, who had such a great smile as she assisted my family and me after a long protest in the city. I never thought I'd have to up my manners in a chicken spot like Dave's, but the staff here are showing me different! Keep it up!

the customer service was so sweet the man who took was my was kind and enthusiastic, he made me exited to eat at this spot for the first time and on my way out he made sure everything was okay with my experience. the setting ngl was pretty eerie it was just so big but so empty that it felt like it was missing something but since it used to be a theatre it's alr ig. it just seems to me they should re-design but idk. the 13 dollars for the meal was worth it when i had the first bite. my food did take like 10 minutes though even though it wast busy...

Great spot for good quality hot fried chicken. I had the hot slider with fries and I enjoyed all of it. The chicken was great, bun was a delicious potato roll type of bread, and the Cole slaw and pickles paired the heat level perfectly. The French fries were great, especially when dipped into the sauce. The dining area was very clean and everything was in order. I noticed the staff working non stop and their effort showed. I was very impressed overall and would highly recommend this spot to anyone in the area in the mood for some hot fried chicken.

now that we as a nation are on the topic of hot chicken, I did indeed recently finally try daves.... - this place is alllll over my tik tok so I had pretty high hopes for a chain -I got the two piece with one hot and one medium, the hot had the type of kick that burns your lips but it didn't bring it too much to my tastebuds, the medium was not spicy at all but I will give them props for how much seasoning is crispy fried into these boys - the breading had a nice crunch even a few hours later and the chicken wasn't dry even though with the thickness of the tenders - loved how many pickles they added but slaw was very minimal I can't even review the one bite I had - sauce tasted just like thousand island, canes wines this contest with its uniqueness. the fries were like canes, soft...needed more time baking away....but these had seasoning on them so they get a point over Canes

When I learned about Dave's reaper chicken, my brows perked up and I thought challenge accepted! Stopped by last night to grab it, close to closing. Took longer than anticipated, considering only 3 orders were before me so I can't imagine how long food takes when they're busy. Now, let me start with saying I have a pretty high spice tolerance and have done spicy challenges around the U.S. including a reaper burger (which definitely made me sweat), wings (which I don't remember the pepper but was one of the hottest things I've eaten), Paqui's one chip challenge (which destroyed me far more than Dave's reaper), and all those viral spicy noodles that aren't that spicy, etc. That being said, here's my review for the Reaper slider. They make you sign a waiver, probably for sh*ts and giggles, but pretty gimmicky and unnecessary. Overall, a good way to measure spice is how much it hurts when it enters and exits you and let me tell you, it's not too terrible. The spice is manageable. The key is to eat slow and take small bites. The chicken is tender and juicy and the slider is very tasty, the slaw, pickles, and potato bun, that it really balances well with the heat. Eating a couple fries in between every 3-4 bites helps too. I didn't start feeling the heat until I was almost halfway done with the slider and for a hot second (pun intended), there was a wave of fear that enveloped me, making my brain think "do I sweat? do I cry?" And after taking a meditative breath, took another bite, and that cloud of fear was gone. Thereafter, I was able to enjoy the rest of the sandwich. That was a stark difference from other spicier challenges I've done where when I take that next bite, my body and mind definitely hates me for doing that. The heat doesn't linger longer than 15 minutes in your mouth, the chili flavor definitely does and half hour later had a mild tummy ache, as expected with a heat challenge. This is a solid chicken sandwich and I think for a more casual eat, I'll probably get the extra hot but the reaper was one of the better reaper experiences I've had.

Our prayers have been answered! Dave's Hot Chicken has finally arrived to DC and oh man it did not disappoint. This chicken is 100% juice and tender certified with the perfect crisp of flavor on it. I did a pick up order for their free slider promo they had going on because of the limited street parking there is. My friend said the service was great despite there being a line for this delicious chicken. From what we can see through the window and what my friend saw, he absolutely loved what the inside looked like and wished we could've dined in! Definitely stopping by for this ambiance next time. The fries were so good and had similar seasoning the mild flavoring of my slider, my only wish is that I had bought a milkshake to go with it!

I went to Dave's hot chicken with a couple of friends for lunch, and I must say "it slaps". I've heard of Dave's before and I've seen images online of all their chicken sandwiches but when I heard that they open up a new location in the DMV area, I was ecstatic. They have a pretty big location in Columbia Heights. Fried chicken quality was awesome and the menus pretty easy to follow. I've personally tried over 30 different Fried Chicken Sandwich spots in the DMV area and I would say this is top-five. Look forward to going back there again.

Really good hot chicken sandwich. I got the combo with the 1 chicken sandwich (I added cheese) and fries. I got medium heat level and it tasted great and not too spicy. Next time I'll try the hot level. Lots of inside seating and service was good.

Sooo tasty and worth the hype! I like that this dining area is very roomy and kept clean. The food came out pretty fast and was so delicious. We got hot and it was the perfect spice level and not too spicy. The seasoning and juiciness was insane.

I went during dinner time and it was busy but not overwhelmingly packed. Very straightforward menu with spice level options. I got medium and it was truly medium (spicy enough for a real tingle but nothing crazy). Would come back! I ordered one of the meals (I think #3) and it was a good portion of food. Chicken was not dry, very juicy. Spice flavor was present but not overwhelming so I couldn't actually taste the chicken. There is a cole slaw situation on the sandwich that helps the bread from feeling dry. Fries were crinkle cut and seasoned. Pickles were dependably good.

This place is new and has a ton of hype currently. I feel like it lives up to its hype! The sauce, portions and price are all great. The only reason that I gave Dave's a 4 instead of a 5 is because I thought the chicken was a little bit on the salty side, not enough to ruin the meal or anything. Probably just a personal palate thing for me. Tips: - I got the mild - this is perfect if you don't want the heat but like the flavor - Get some extra sauce, it is awesome - If you really want to take your slider to a new level, ask for some honey packets and drizzle it on top of the chicken along with the Dave's Sauce. - There is a parking garage behind the building close to the Giant. It was like $3 for an hour, but worth it! Street parking is not very good in that area. Hope this helps! Enjoy

Spicy. Flavorful. Filling. Fire. That's how I would describe Dave's Hot Chicken. It was my first time trying it, so I ordered 1 slider and 1 tender with fries. For spice level, I got hot, which was the 3rd or 4th highest spice level. My spice tolerance is decent, but this was definitely making me sweat especially after I ate the slider. The dry seasoning on the chicken makes it hard to finish, so I recommend getting extra sauce, which I unfortunately didn't do. The chicken was sizable, filling, hot, spicy, crispy, and flavorful. The fries were also good, but the chicken was the star of the show. Overall, a must try that will take you on a hot and sweaty trip to Flavortown.

Food was good hot is definitely hot so if your up for the heat get it. I ordered online and glad I did cause line was just about out the door. Nice spot.

Wifey suggested we hit this spot after church. Wasn't a bad idea but we made a rookie mistake by get wrong spice level. We thought we could handle the regular hot level, it was just one step above medium. Unfortunately, we sadly were wrong. Nevertheless, I believe Victor was a manager who made our wrong right. I explained to him we thought we could handle the that level but we mis gauged it. He kindly offered us the opportunity to swap our sliders and tenders out for the mild sauce. I truly appreciated that being though we spent more than $150 on our order. In the end the sliders where freshly seasoned and crispy crunchy to our liking. We will be back and we definitely recommend Dave's Hot Chicken!

Approved! Always I have had a thing for chicken sandwiches and this is my expertise. Sando: "Flavor-flavor" My medium-level sandwich had a ton of flavors with a little bit of kick that didn't upset my stomach. I'd not say the meat was juicy but it was well-seasoned. The pickles added a layer of textures: it's not sweet or sour but compliments the whole package. The potato bun made it complete! Fries: "Say yes to cheese." I read a ton of reviews before the visit and as suggested ordered cheese fries instead of regular fries which turned out an excellent idea. The fries were rather depressing and the cheese was made all up. Very friendly. The service trainee took my order. Things kept going wrong but he made sure that we felt cared for. (Good luck!) For pricing points, this is definitely a 5-star joint.

Delicious! I got the chicken strips in medium, with slaw instead of fries, and it comes with pickles and regular white bread. The strips was delicious, fresh and juicy! I made a mini sandwich with the tender and slaw, pickles and sauce and holy moly! Very good. The staff was great and friendly and the inside was clean but kinda empty. I wish more people came to visit! Maybe I just walked in during a downtime. Too bad I live too far away. I was only in the DC area because I had came back from a trip. Whenever I'm in the area I'll stop buy and try the sliders. Make more locations in the suburbs!

This experience might be one of the Worst experiences I've had they cashier was rude the food was uncooked and cold and it was the wrong spice level definitely dissatisfied
