The Best Savannah, Georgia, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"David’s Crab House could be Savannah’s first Korean-owned restaurant. Wife and husband team MiSun and Malcolm Allen opened their seafood shack on Montgomery and 35th in 1992, and it continues to be a popular post-church indulgence. This counter-serve has no actual seating, but if you’re in rough shape picking up your Sunday boil or conch, there’s a small bench in the corner where people will respect your privacy as you crack garlic snow crab with your hands and coat your chin with evidence of MiSun’s signature hot sauce." - Kiki Dy

If you love good seafood, definitely visit David's Crab House! When we visited Savannah in September, we made sure this was our first meal -- my husband's research said this was by far one of the top local favorites. There's no seating -- you order (in our case we ordered ahead online), get your food, and take it to your car/hotel/home/park bench/etc. to eat. If you get their famous garlic crab, I wouldn't recommend eating it in your car -- it's dripping with their delicious garlic sauce. The cost per person for us was a little high because we ordered enough for at least four people since we wanted to make sure to try all the items that caught our attention. We enjoyed a banquet of: 1 lb. of garlic snow crab, two deviled crabs, crab rice, conch (never had it and jumped at the opportunity), seafood salad, and one garlic egg (just to try it). ALL of it was absolutely delicious! By the end of the amazing meal both our hands and forearms were covered in garlic sauce from the luscious snow crab and there was a mountain of used napkins beside us. The conch was really tasty, their deviled crab ended up being our favorite version from our entire trip, the crab rice and seafood salad were great, and the garlic egg was a revelation (pretty sure it had a bit of their yummy vinegar based Alyee hot sauce on it). This is now on our "must go back" list of restaurants.

I can’t say enough good things about David and his spot. He’s one of the coolest, most genuine guys you’ll meet in Savannah. He took the time to chat with me and even let me try some of the food before I ordered, something you don’t see often anymore. The seafood was absolutely incredible; fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. From the crawfish to the crab legs, everything was on point. On top of the great food, it was just refreshing to meet someone as kind and welcoming as David. If you’re in Savannah and craving seafood, do yourself a favor and stop here, you won’t regret it.

Delicious garlic blue crab and mussels! I wasn't expecting it to be cold but I guess that's how they like it in Savannah. No worries. Got the crab rice also and it was good. Alot of food for the money.

What a hidden gem. We found this from a reddit thread, and we are so glad we did. Went in and the lovely woman at the counter offered us free samples of EVERYTHING. so delicious. Loved the garlic crab and peel n eat shrimp. The eggs were so fantastic. We ended up getting crab salad, deviled crab, shrimp, and an egg - for $25!!! We will stop in again on our way out of town. The hot sauce is also a win. Do yourself a favor and go! Be prepared to take away as there is no seating inside. We walked back to Forsyth park (about a 15 min walk) and ate on a bench. Worth it!

Stopped in for an early lunch... the wonderful fresh smell of a fresh seafood shop filled the air. Greeted by a wonderful southern smile from the young lady. A nice selection of seafood choices. I picked up the conch in garlic butter - yum. The Alaskan crab legs & local blue crab in garlic seasoning were uniquely flavorful. The shrimp in hot sauce were a new taste for me. The blue crab rice was also neat with the brown rice. I like adding the garlic butter to it for additional flavor. I got to try a crawfish and it was one of the best I have had. I finished the meal off with perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs, so fresh! Prices were great for this little local take out joint. They were able to heat up the conch so I could enjoy it on the go.

Tried for the first time, it was okay. The owner did have great customer service, but I need my food hot from the kitchen. I thought they had hot fried seafood from the kitchen, but were not serving fried at that time...why?...not sure. I always try to visit black owned businesses, but we got to keep our game up, please. The seafood was served cold, you have to heat at home. The garlic crab was good; conch was tender, but no season; and boiled eggs no taste, but you could see the season. I came home and added my on extra season for my taste...result was was great. My mom was in the restaurant business for over 30 years. Please, you can't "pull the wool over my eyes, I know better." Probably will not return, but please do better.

Pictures & Videos as well The BAD things: - Ordered crab rice on the side and got none - Ordered peeled shrimp and got shelled veined shrimp - Ordered eggs in the crab boil and got no eggs - Some of the food was mushy which you can see in the pictures that the potatoes were falling apart. - There wasn’t a lot of potatoes, maybe because they had fallen apart. And there were too many sausages. - The ordering area is a bit small and crowded. The GOOD things: - the flavor of the seasoning was good - the corn was sweet and it was good - We ordered and extra side of conch once we got there and my boyfriend said it was good. - My mom said the crab tasted good

The last time we were in Savannah I saw a gentleman in the lobby of the hotel from a distance eating what I assumed was ice cream. . When I inquired, he said he was eating Conch from David’s Seafood. I purposed to visit David’s when we returned to Savannah. This time my nephew traveled with me and we decided to try it out. The cashier was so kind and helpful and because it was our first time visiting, we were allowed to sample a variety of items before we made our purchase. They hooked us and reeled us in, and because of those samples we ordered shrimp, conch, crab rice, sausages, corn and boiled eggs. Was it good? You bet your bottom dollar it was good!!!!! My wife doesn’t eat seafood, but you can be assured that I’m going back to this takeout only establishment when we return to Savannah.
