Malaysian-Vietnamese- Chinese cuisine at its finest. Fell in love with the Crab Rangoon, the Malaysian Curry noodle soup, Pad Thai, David’s fried rice 😍 spicy and flavorful food for the soul. If you’re around NC State University, this place is a must try!

Dropped in here during my trip to get my daughter settled in at NC State! The location is awesome- right on Hillsborough St and walking distance from just about anywhere on campus or the University area of Hillsborough St. There was no wait on a Thursday night! The service was excellent. We had three different ladies helping us out and the water glasses were always full. We had pork dumplings for appetizer and the flavor profile was very similar to what I had on my last trip to Jiangyin China! I had the Malaysian Curry Noodle Soup for my entree and it was awesome! The mix of wontons, curry and spice was perfect. I highly recommend David's Dumplings & Noodle Bar to anyone!

Incredible time! Found my favorite dumpling spot in Raleigh! If you’re looking for the best dumplings and kindest people, look no further because Dave’s Dumplings will have you coming back for more! The Malaysian chicken curry and Indian Roti was marvelous! The crab Rangoon was so incredible l forgot to snap a photo 🫣 the edamame and mushroom dumplings were delightful! We had the distinct honor of meeting Leo who is the owner and he was so wonderful and was so sweet! Thank you Leo, Wing, and Katelyn for the great service

A cute hidden gem in Raleigh! We went on a weeknight and it was quiet but the food and service were great. I will say the dumpling options are few for a place with dumplings in the name, but the ones we had were yummy! Kung pao chicken is tasty but not very spicy. Crab wontons were so good!

Sam is a great waitress! The food was ordered and served (apps and mains) all within 15 minutes! Great lunch prices and not too overstimulating in atmosphere. Can’t wait to come here again. We had: crab rangoons, general Mao’s chicken with lo mein, hot and sour soup, half fried dumplings and the Malaysian chicken curry and roti.

A great hidden gem in Raleigh, we were greatest with a smile when we first walked in and then quickly seated. The server was prompt and very friendly. She took great care of us through the entire mean always making sure to keep drink glasses full and helping me choose between two of the menu items. We started our meal with a chicken Satay and the curry peanut sauce was well balanced between it's sweetness and curry flavors. For my entree I ended up going with the General Mao's chicken and my fiance got the Beef and Black bean. The food was delivered to our table quickly, it was fresh and hot. The flavor profile was well balanced with a subtle but complex array of flavors that felt full on the tongue. I had tried their blood orange Sunrise drink, pear sake, oj, and a splash of cherry juice I highly recommend it. We both finished our plates, the server thanked us again before leaving. The prices are reasonable in my opinion, for the two of us to eat only cost 50.00 before tip. If you have a free evening you should stop in and grab a bite to eat I promise you will not be disappointed!

Wow!!! We were in the area and had to stop somewhere for lunch and stumbled upon David's. It was incredible!!! The service was great, our waitress was so sweet, the food came out really quick and it was delicious. We loved it as well as our kids. Really affordable prices for lunch. We'll be back! Our favorites were the Hot & Sour Soup, pan fried dumplings, and sesame chicken!

First time we have visited this restaurant, but not the first time tasting their food. So, here goes. Quaint. Tidy, and tucked away in a college neighborhood. All great things. Was there a wait to be seated? There was not - but, that didn't mean this wasn't a great spot for dinner. Our first course was (of course) their hot soups. I had Wonton and my husband had David's Hot & Sour. So good. We ordered Jasmine tea - took awhile to steep, but isn't that always the way with tea? After soup, we had Fried Vietnamese Vegetable Spring Rolls. These were good, and we also had David's Original Half-Fried Dumplings. You get five of these big guys. We split the Sesame Chicken and Beef Lo Mein Egg Noodles. Even the steamed rice was delicious. Tender chunks of chicken in a sweet sauce with small stalks of broccoli, and the beef was tender and easy to chew. I would have to say that their portions were small. We did not take anything home with us (at other Asian places, and for the amount of money we spent, we would get a second at-home meal). Not the case here. You get fresh, hot food or average portion size, and you leave what's left (empty plates). Staff were accommodating. We were told at the time that their systems were acting slowly, so in order to process our order, everything had to be entered all at once. My husband and I are never rushed, and we don't enjoy everything coming out of the kitchen at once. However, we were informed of what they were doing to get hot food out to us. We appreciated this information. I would say, "go here and try it!" The "industrial" decor is fitting for its location. Everything is casual - even the person seating us wore jeans and sneakers. We will go back, and bring others with us.

My family and I came for dinner on a Saturday night around 5 pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant is spacious and there is a big bar area with a lot of seating. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out really fast. For appetizers we shared the edamame and for drinks we tried the tropical fruit sake flight which was delicious - the peach was my favorite! For entrees I ordered the ginger garlic chicken. The sauce had a lot of flavor and the chicken was tender. I also tried a bite of the kung pao chicken, sesame chicken, sesame tofu, and the curry noodles and found each dish to be full of flavor. Overall, the food and service here were great. I took off one star because the dishes were pretty pricy (~$18-25) and the portions could've been bigger, especially considering the price.

Since we were tired of going out to eat, we decided to order in. We ordered shumai, chicken satay, David's fried rice, Vietnamese spring and summer rolls, and more dumplings. The satay was great. Everything else was not just average. The Vietnamese summer rolls only had one-half of a shrimp.

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday with my daughter. It was super quiet. The decor is lovely with brick walls and pretty lights hanging from the ceiling. Service was great, very attentive. I recommend the wonton soup and the Malaysian curry with roti to start. I would skip the half fried pork dumplings which are kind of like doughy meatballs. The waiter said they are boiled then fried on the bottom. They were too dense for my taste. I also ordered an extra Malaysian curry with roti to go as well as sesame tofu with rice and egg roll. Not bad. The tofu is fried and slightly sweet. I'll try noodles the next time I come here!

Terrific & consistently good food & service in a fun location. Once in a great while a to-go order has a mistake, but they credited us.

The restaurant is spacious and kept nice. The staff was friendly. We were seated and it took at least 15 mins or more for someone to help us. The food was hot and came out pretty quick. The dumplings were stuffed with meat and was filling. I didn't care too much for the oyster sauce, it was too salty but I ended up dunking my dumplings in ginger soy sauce which was better suited for me. The salt and pepper chicken was cooked perfectly however felt it could use a sauce. It was my first time having anything with sake and it was good, still not sure exactly what sake is but it taste Asian to me with mixture of apple and wine. I'd get the drink again I'd come back and try other things on the menu.

We stopped in this evening. I found the name of this place misleading when we landed at our table and upon review of the menu. The dumpling selection was weak. I envisioned a table full of various types of dumplings. Instead I got an appetizer course of reheated dumplings. The should call this place David's Appetizers and Noodles. The chicken and noodles entree was good and fresh. Really disappointed overall. Last visit.

We ordered the Shrimp Rangoon as an appetizer, and it's basically a piece of fried shrimp with a LITTLE cream cheese inside. So don't be expecting a giant piece of crab Rangoon like we were. The taste was still good, but it was not the cream cheesy goodness we were expecting. For entrees I got the sesame chicken (YUM), and my husband ordered the Kung Pao chicken. It was not that spicy like the menu says. To me, it tasted so much like cashew chicken. Our waitress was nice, and the restaurant itself was so cute and intimate on a Saturday evening. Lastly, portion sizes are a bit smaller than your typical Chinese restaurant, but that quality was out of this world.

I got chicken and broccoli, hot and spicy. It was legit. Our service was good. Good came out quickly. Restaurant was clean and in a fun location.

I enjoyed an authentic meal from this restaurant, after searching for Vietnamese food. The service was great. I enjoyed fresh handmade dumplings, and pad Thai. The restaurant was clean, and staff were friendly. I recommend this restaurant.

Atmosphere: David's Dumpling & Noodle Bar has a sleek and spacious interior. We went for a late lunch, so the restaurant was pretty empty while we were there. Service: Our server was friendly, and our food came out pretty quickly. Food: We started our meal with David's Original Half-Fried Dumplings and the Wonton Soup. The Half-Fried Dumplings were okay and were neither excellent nor bad - the taste was what we expected, but the texture was slightly gummy and soggy. The Wonton Soup was good and probably the highlight of the meal. The wontons were flavorful and the broth was warm and satisfying. For our main dishes, we ordered the Hunan Beef and the Malaysian Curry Noodle Soup. The Hunan Beef was pretty standard except that it lacked the spiciness described on the menu. The dish in turn was on the bland side, but at least they were generous with the beef. On a similar note, The Malaysian Curry Noodle Soup was labeled as "slightly spicy" on the menu. As fans of spicy food, we asked for the curry to be more spicy, but we were hardly able to taste any spiciness in the dish. The sauce otherwise had a decent flavor and we did appreciate the generous portions, which allowed for us to take home some leftover sauce to cook with for another meal. Overall: We were overall not entirely impressed by David's Dumpling & Noodle Bar. While there wasn't anything overtly negative about our experience, the lack of spice and any real "wow" factors led us to a mid-level rating. The food here is pretty Americanized and probably wouldn't be our first choice for Asian food in the area.

Food is okay. We ordered from here because we didn't want the great fast-food Chinese places, and for that reason, I'll give it 3 stars. But the food is expensive, not amazing, and the order sizes are small.

Just visited last week with my adult daughter. We walked right in at about 5 pm on a Saturday. We were greeted immediately upon entering and sitting right away. We ordered two Saki drinks , which were served quick. We placed our orders, I ordered shrimp pad, Thai and my daughter ordered a noodle dish with tofu. My dish was very good, I have had better, but it was definitely good. There was a lot of fresh shrimp in it too. I also had the wonton soup which was also delicious. I will definitely come back!

I used to like this place a lot so I decided to return again. It was quiet and the staff were nice but the food took awhile to come out and had decreased in quality since my last visit. All the dishes we got were extremely salty and doused in soy sauce to the point it was almost inedible. I was disappointed.

Went here for to go for dinner very recently. I ordered the half fried dumplings and the scallion pancakes. The order was really and the front when I came to pick it up. The hostesses were very friendly and helped help the door for me when I came in. Now to the important part which is the food. The dumplings are large and you get six large dumplings for a very affordable price. The value is top notch. The food is full of flavor. Now to the part of why I took off one star. Unfortunately the dumplings are extremely greasy. I've never had dumplings that were that way before. It's good quality ingredients but covered in grease. They were tasty but I'm not sure if it would be my first choice. It's so tough because value and flavor definitely would make this place a favorite.

Underwhelming. Hunan Beef was EXTREMELY spicy even for me from Jamaican roots. The "Sam's Rice and Shrimp" (I think that's what it's called) had a strange after taste, similar to old grease. The Fried chicken wings were dark, dry and tasted of old grease. The fountain Pepsi was interesting, if you enjoy a chemically tasting drink. I don't take pleasure in poor reviews but the experience did not live up to the amount of stars given in previous reviews of this restaurant.

I was extremely pleased with my experience here at David's Dumplings. It's hard to find really authentic Asian restaurants in the area, so I was happy to have stumbled across it. My Malaysian chicken curry was shwae from the tippy top to the very bottom. The flavors brought me back to my days in Asia. Plus, we got our food pretty quickly. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he recommended my meal and did not steer me wrong!!

This is my second time at David's dumplings and I still don't get the hype. Went in during what I would consider peak dinner rush - disappointed how empty it was. Ambiance is great but would probably just suggest sitting at the bar to get a drink and order of dumplings. The entrees were so incredibly salty.

Had dinner here a few weeks ago. Not much of a dumpling bar (only a few choices) and noodles were also limited but it did have a nice variety of Chinese and asian staples that tasted great. We will be back.

Always a go to when in the triangle. Everyone is always friendly, service amazing, and the food is legit!!! A true Asian staple with plenty of options to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Definitely be back for sure!!!

Was in the NC State area and wanted to grab something before stopping at an event and found this! Parking is a bit tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the area; street parking if you're lucky, but there's also free parking lots that are about a 3-5mins walk from the restaurant. Food was excellent, light and refreshing! Our server was kind and attentive throughout our meal. During our visit, there was a bit of a wait due to the kitchen getting backed up, but was quickly resolved! With the space and atmosphere they have, you're able to dine solo, have a date night, come with friends, or even hold work related meals here, and your experience will be the same...amazing!

Amazing and authentic Asian food!!!! Everything was on point here compared to others. From Malaysian Chicken Curry with Indian Roti to just salt and pepper wings I was completely satisfied. Definitely somewhere you should check out.

Excellent! 6 stars. All of it! Location, ambiance, service, food, drinks....all of it! GO! Curry was perfectly spicy (you have spice level choices). Noodles were plentiful and exceeded expectations on quantity and flavor. Dumplings and spring rolls are far above standard takeout quality, as they should be. Love the environment and that chopsticks are the standard table service. We've been several times and the menu helps make each visit unique and equally enjoyable.

We were staying at the DoubleTree on Hillsborough so this was just a short 2 minute walk away. It was our first meal during our long weekend trip to Raleigh. We came around 6PM for some apps before exploring the city. It was pretty empty with only 2 other parties there while we were there. The space is spacious so we were seated a good distance away from them. What we ordered: - David's Original Half-Fried Dumplings (Pork, Napa Cabbage, Green Onions, Ginger Soy Sauce) - Shrimp Ragoon (Fried Jumbo Shrimp, Cream Cheese, Duck Sauce) - Salt & Pepper Wings (Salt and Pepper Seasoning) - Edamame & Mushroom Dumplings (Edamame, Mushrooms, Cilantro, Oyster Sauce, Sesame Oil, Ginger Soy Sauce) Everything came out timely and accurately. Our waitress was very sweet and was attentive. The best appetizer in our opinion is the shrimp rangoon but unfortunately it only came in an order of 3 for $5 and the size was very small. Not sure if we would revisit in the future but it was good.

Came here on Sunday with a big group of friends. Portion size is pretty decent, as my friend says the dumpling appetizer is "hardy"! We all enjoyed our dumplings and noodle dishes. The spicy level is not very high so I would suggest asking for extra spicy if you truly love some heat! Service was great. They only took a few mins to set up tables for the big group and was able to get us all separate checks without mistakes. Lunch ends around ~2pm and we were given dinner menu when we arrived at 2:10pm!

We ordered $70.00 worth of food that went in the trash. I've been eating vegetarian Pad Thai for years, even in Thailand. I've never had anything so terrible. No one uses sautéed onions. It's always scallions. The sauce was disgusting and smoky flavored. I hope you enjoyed the 27.00 tip.

finally was able to have dinner here with my close coworker as she loves this place & has been coming here since attending college! we started off with some appetizers: summer roll and mushroom & edamame dumpling! it was so delicious along with our drinks, mao tai, which looked as good as it tasted! our entrees we ordered were ginger garlic chicken & moo shu tofu. it was super delicious, the table next to us even asked what we ordered when they were seated! it definitely is a nice place for friends to catch up, date night, or even larger parties because they take reservations as well. it was such a nice meal along with a great atmosphere, we can't wait to come back!

Hmmm. I am not so sure about this place. I was really looking forward to eating here after hearing tons of good things, however, I was incredibly disappointed. There have been few times where I've considered something truly inedible and this place was almost there. My friend and I got Pad Thai and Lo Mein and split some dumplings. Everything tasted the same, it was hard to pick up on any flavor due to the saltiness. I'm not sure if this is a fluke or what, but I would MAYBE give it another try. Really surprised by all the good reviews here so there must be something to it.

We were in town for a medical appointment so we decided to give David's a try and we were impressed! First of all I loved that it was within walking distance of a lot of the hotels and it made it easy for us to take a stroll and not worry about parking. The restaurant was very clean and industrial chic and I felt they were doing a great job with Covid protocols. They were very accommodating with my seafood allergy and made me feel that they had prepared it safely. The dumplings were hot with fresh ingredients and served quickly. We didn't really try any other dishes but what we had was very good and we will be back!

We stopped by here for lunch and it was decent. We ordered the pad thai and papaya salad and it was... good. The menu was big, the service was excellent and there was plenty of seating inside. I would give this place another try.

We love this place! The Malaysian Curry dishes are fantastic. We always get the Roti appetizer and a couple of the dumpling choices. Service is always good, and the food comes out super fast!

Not going to hold you first saw the name and arrived at the restaurant, who is expecting more, different types of dumplings, different styles, but most importantly was hoping for some soup dumplings. Not offered how ever they have a great menu and food was delicious. Parking itself may be an issue depending on the season any time of day, especially if NC State is in session. I will definitely go again and it's definitely date worth.

It's more of a bar vibe than modern Asian. The server man was very nice and on top of it! It's almost too much! I had to tell him to stop filling up my drinks it's sweet tea so I don't want to be diabetic in one meal. I set at the bar which I normally love to do, But it smelled like stale beer which I really did not need this morning. Ugh. I ordered the hot and sour soup. It looks great but very lite in flavor. My main meal was spicy orange beef, which wasn't. It was very burnt and without flavor. Ugh X2. The sauce was good but it was like eating bad leftovers. Really didn't enjoy the food here! I'm sorry. I really wanted to and was excited to walk over here! I couldn't even finish.

This was the first time to David's Dumplings, and I will say that I was not impressed. The server was nice, and the place appeared to be clean, and the food came out really quick. The appetizers were the Won Ton Soup, and the David's Original Half-Fried Dumplings. The entrees were General Mao's Chicken, and David's Fried Rice with Shrimp & Chinese Sausage. The Won Ton soup was tasty, and the dumplings were not bad. The chicken tasted and had the texture like it was cooked earlier, and just reheated. The Fried Rice was not good at all. The shrimp had a definite off taste, like spoiled off taste, so they could not be eaten. The sausage seemed overcooked. While there I was watching ESPN on the TV that was at the bar. Then a gentleman that worked there started to flip through the channels without asking if anybody was watching it. So I have no idea how the game ended. I was looking forward to going to David's Dumplings for a while, but now I am not sure if it was worth the wait. Definitely paid for the location, and "atmosphere" as the food could have been a larger portion, and better quality. #459

Ate here recently with friends. We started with the with David's original half fried dumplings and the open top pork and shrimp dumplings. Both were very good. For mains we shared The Hunan Beef ( tasty ) and the crispy sesame tofu. The tofu which is something I would not ordinarily order was surprisingly good. Atmosphere is very nice and service was attentive and fast. This is a pretty good find for the Raleigh area and I would definitely recommend.

We all shared smalls plates and they were good, mostly dumplings. Not too salty. Nice minimalist atmosphere.

Parking is on the street and you have to download an app to pay for it but it's cheap. In a great location on Hillsborough near a lot of other food places too if you want a drink, desert, or whatever else after. The food was fast and hot, and our server was super friendly and kind which was great. REALLY wanted to try the dumplings but they all have pork in it, which I don't eat, and they don't do any substitutions. I love roti and their curry was good and had ground chicken in it (I think) but either way I always get roti whenever I see a restaurant serves it and it's great. The chicken satay was average and the chicken wasn't that flavorful but the peanut sauce served with it was definitely the best part. We got chicken pad thai and the moo shoo with beef. I loveeeee pad thai but wasn't big of a fan of theirs because it was very curry-flavored which is fine but not the usual for pad thai. The moo shoo was great!! I've never had moo shoo before but if I came back I would just get this and the roti. It was superrrr tasty and I loved putting it in the bao buns too. I would try the tofu next time but the beef was great! The plates came with vegetable spring rolls which were really good too.

Came here on a whim, and I am very glad that we decided to give them a try. We enjoyed the Won Ton soup, very flavorful, the Sui Mai, the half Fried Dumplings the Crispy Fried Wontons. Everything was delicious, and those dumplings were filled with meat! I also enjoyed a Fizzy Apple cocktail, my daughter enjoyed the Peach cocktail. I definitely recommend David's because the Dumplings alone are outstanding!

I was in Raleigh for a business trip and was so happy I stopped here for dinner. The food was delicious! I tried the edamame and mushroom dumplings which were incredible. I've never had anything like it before. The dumplings were perfectly cooked though I would have preferred a more classic soy sauce over oyster sauce. For entrees we ordered the sesame tofu and the moo shoo tofu. Both were excellent. The sesame tofu is a smaller serving of food, more of an appetizer I'd say. The moo shoo was a large portion of perfect flavors and textures. It comes with 3 bao buns and I took half home. The inside is large and good for large groups. Definitely recommend this place! If I am ever back in town I want to try the curry noodles.

David's Dumplings is delicious! Went here last night with 8 friends from church. Great service and beautiful dining room. Relaxing atmosphere. I got the General Mao's chicken. It hit the spot! I highly recommend this restaurant.

So hit or miss, it's hard to say whether this place is good or bad. Pros - shrimp Rangoon (ordered twice!), lo mein and papaya salad. Cons - mu shu pork (so salty), hot and sour soup (meh, goopy) and chicken "coconut" curry (did not taste at all like coconut... more like the McCormick dry curry powder from the grocery store... come on man). Probably won't be back - why pay 100 bucks for half the food being not enjoyable?

Painfully slow service and the check was basically thrown down on the table at the end of the meal. Food was fine.

I don't normally do reviews on Yelp, but this particular restaurant I couldn't help it. There was nothing wrong with the service, the ambience, it had to do with the portion size. I was charged $18 for a small plate of sesame chicken, 5 slices of broccoli, and a bowl of rice. Now this wasn't some Michelin restaurant; so if I can get more food from Panda Express for $10 less then there is a problem

Stopped in on the way home from a Night Market because it was pouring, and we had driven by this place and few times before. We decided to try out a few of the small plates. The restaurant is very spacious, and there were only 3 tables in use when we arrived, so we were spaced out well. I ordered the hot green tea, which wasn't very hot, lukewarm at best. The wonton soup, shrimp summer rolls, Pork and Shrimp Sui Mai, Edamame and Mushroom Dumplings, and Veggie Egg Rolls. The soup wasn't the right temp, too lukewarm, but the wontons were spot on, making this my favorite dish of the night. The Sui Mai Dumplings were good also, nice filling, but the oyster sauce on top was so overwhelming and salty, that I had to wipe it off with a napkin. The Summer rolls unfortunately only had one half of a shrimp in each one, which was unfortunate. I can not speak on the other dishes as I didn't try them. The price point was good for the items, however, the temperature and the quality were both lacking for me. I'm not sure if I would come back based solely on the fact that there are far better places to try IMO.

The best fried dumplings in Raleigh, the buns, the pad Thai and pretty much anything in the menu is absolutely delicious.
