Had a great experience! I was able to get a same-day appointment for an urgent eye exam, and was met with very friendly and welcoming staff. They accepted my specific insurance (yay!), and the doctor was very knowledgeable, and assessed my issue without a hitch. The sales staff patiently answered all my questions, and I swiftly ordered everything I needed. Would highly recommend visiting Davis for your vision needs!

I had such a wonderful experience at Davis Eye Care! From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and professional. The office is clean, modern, and very well organized, which made the whole visit smooth and stress-free. The Tech and Dr. took the time to explain everything thoroughly and answered all of my questions with patience and care. I never felt rushed, and it was clear they truly value their patients’ comfort and vision health. The selection of frames was fantastic, with something for every style and budget. Had nice experience at Davis Eye Care. Did not have to wait long for the eye exam. The doctor explained her findings and gave advise on how to further care for my eyes. They have a very nice selection of frames and Bernice was very helpful in explaining my insurance and helping me select my new glasses. Glad I chose to go to them. Thank you.

The place is really really nice. Bernice is very nice. She spoke to me on the phone. She made me want come in. Dr Rama was so nice ! They fitted me with glasses. The selection was really really good. They were just really nice. You guys should check this place out. Pretty OK good great location.

I didn’t have to wait long at all—I was seen right away and the whole process was quick and efficient. The doctor took the time to listen to my concerns, made me feel heard, and gave thoughtful advice on how to address the issue I was having. I really appreciated the care and professionalism. Absolutely great staff. I love that they offer a time after my work. I had an eye emergency I needed to follow up with from another clinic and it was a smooth reassuring visit.

Very rude people. They made my glasses 2 times With the wrong prescription. After 1 month waiting I have them back. Also then trying to blame it on

I would never go to this place again. It took them four tries to get my progressive glasses and even now with the fourth pair I still am struggling to see the way I did with my old glasses. What can I say beyond that? They tried to make the glasses work, but four tries and they still suck? I hate my new glasses means I will never return to them again when I need new glasses. I've never had issues like this before.

New Owners. When they were adding up my two prescriptions it was double what I was charged the year before. After some haggling, it got down to just 50% more. What I realized, after it took them 3 1/2 weeks! to finish my prescriptions, is that after telling them multiple times I wanted the same exact options as the previous lenses, they ended up giving me more expensive options. Not a way to introduce yourself to long-time customers and will be looking elsewhere for my lenses.

Scheduled a routine eye exam. Got there and they tried to charge me $150. I called my office and they confirmed that our plan has only a $10 copay. I raised this and they said "Oh you want a routine eye exam?" I said yes that is what I confirmed when I made the appointment. They then credited me the difference but charged me a $39 fee for retinal photos. And then I had to wait 45 mins to see the doc. He was trying aggressively to sell me new glasses but when I told him I was not getting new glasses now he just did the exam and it was fine. If you go, watch for up-selling.

Sadly, this is an example of a terrific doctor being undermined by an incompetent front desk staff. They forgot to give me my insurance card back, couldn't find things around the office, seemed generally disoriented, and were profoundly unhelpful when I tried to get my card back. For the icing on the cake, they complained that *I* was rude when I persisted in trying to get my card back. My, my, my how inappropriate it must be for a customer to expect a practice not to misplace their insurance card! I hope Dr. Fuzaylov finds a location worthy of his ability because this isn't it.

I'm not super happy. I purchased glasses from here, they didn't measure my optical center correctly, and when I went in to complain about discomfort, the person at the counter kind of... said this wasn't a real problem? I've been wearing glasses for almost all my life. This is I think, the first time I've had an issue like this. I took the glasses to a different store, described my situation, and they guessed that the optical center was off. They measured where it was on the lens, and it looks like where the center should have been was about a centimeter away from where it was on the lens. I got them to replace the lenses, and I can see with these now. But had to spend more money to have these glasses be usable. Not a great experience.

Super grateful to this optometrist! I was visiting from out of town and my contact ripped. Sharon and her team were super helpful and helped me get a trial pair so I could see the rest of the trip. They even gave me solution and a case. I can only imagine how they treat their patients!! Thanks again Sharon

My boyfriend went to Dr. Frank after his eye hurt and was red and swollen for a couple of days while traveling. When he got back, I searched Yelp for the best eye doctor and it turned out we lived around the corner from him. Dr. Frank saw us within two hours, and immediately saw my boyfriend's infection and was able to treat it with a sample of some antibiotic drops that are now helping him! He is so gentle and kind and calm. Everything about working with him and him helping you is a soothing experience. A top-notch doctor. 5 Stars!!!!!

I had the worst service with them. I got new glasses from them which had to be corrected to no fault of their own. I got the glasses corrected and noticed a few days later that the near vision was off. When I told them, they kept on saying the paperwork is correct. True the paperwork was correct but the lenses where not. They kept on going back to the paperwork and refused to fix what was their mistake. I'm guessing they didn't want to pay for their error. They told me that when the far vision is changed, that it changes the near vision to even though the near vision was supposed to remain the same. I had a hard time getting the paperwork from them for my records. When they finally gave me my paperwork, I was told by Dr. Frank that I should call my insurance company and request a new eyeglass place because he didn't want to do business with me anymore. That's discrimination. In the end I have glasses that were not made correctly. I will do my business elsewhere, but not before they fix my glasses. They need to own up to their error.

I went to this store for the first time in February 2022, as I have the Davis vision plan which they accept. I have had this vision plan for the past 11 years and had gone most recently to another Optician in Chelsea, where I live but I wanted to see if this optician had a wider assortment of Davis frames. I had also been a customer of Columbia Optical but was tired of making the trip up to 126 St., although the service at Columbia was impeccable! I went to this Davis store but had my prescription from my Ophthalmologist so we did not have the pleasure of working with Dr. Frank. I found that the selection of glasses at Davis at 68 7 Avenue was no more impressive than the Davis frame selection we had viewed at the other Davis participating store, save for Columbia Optical who had an amazing selection. Our Davis plan is an excellent plan (as I am told by other participating Davis stores that we had previously used) My plan includes all the bells and whistles including progressives, transitional, no scratch, no glare etc. At first in this store, I was told I would have to pay extra for the transitionals. I mentioned that I never had to pay for transitional lenses before with my Davis plan coverage, as this was included free of charge! A gentleman came out from the back of the store and explained to the clerk who was waiting on me that transitionals were in fact covered but they had to be coded in a particular way. After picking up our glasses, I noticed when we got home we were not given a cleaning cloth for the glasses. Since I had to go back anyway since when I got home and looked in the mirror I noticed that the glasses were crooked. I had a cab wait outside for me and the glasses were straightened out. When I mentioned to the clerk who had previously waited on me that I had not received a cleaning cloth for the glasses, I was shocked when she said, "you did not purchase the premium frames, we only give those clothes to people who purchase the premium frames" I walked out of this store appalled by this response and will NEVER return there! I have never had such a rude and ridiculous response and I have never been treated differently in any of the Davis Opticians I have done business with because I did not purchase a premium frame! As a matter of fact, in addition to the cleaning cloth we have always received glass cleaning fluid as I have always been very welcome as a Davis insurance holder but not here. ** SAD THAT WOMEN GET TREATED THIS WAY IN 2018 ** I went in here today to ask about getting an eye exam. The guy behind the counter looked me up and down like a piece of meat and spoke to me like I was a child. (An unlucky child.) Yech. I had to wonder if he speaks to all women this way. Pathetic; in 2018 we are still dealing with creeps like this. I walked out. Honestly, he made my skin crawl. Now have an appointment with a real doctor.

Great staff. Dr. David knows his stuff. Super thorough and knowledgeable in his exam. They had my insurance info printed and out when I got their and explained what my insurance covered so I knew exactly how to use my benefits.

I have been coming to Davis Optical for about 11 years- Dr.Frank has seen me through many different jobs and insurances and I would never go anywhere else! They're accommodating and open late enough for me to make an after work appointment. I love their selection of frames and sunglasses, over the years I have bought everything and of course my yearly contact lens supply. Stan has never steered me wrong on a frame choice and I have a pretty nice collection of eyeglasses that fit any mood. I'll continue coming to Dr. Frank until the end!

Wow this place is interesting. The good : Selection is good and the location convenient. The opportunity. Customer service is poor. The staff is under trained and/ or aggressive. This is aggressive as in communication and in up-selling. The doctor is kind and patient. Super knowledgeable. That said he has appointments until 5:30pm. Not sure how this is a sustainable business model in NYC. I have not been able to get an eye exam in 5 years. I ask myself why I still go to this business and default to the location and selection.

I've been going to Dr. Frank for eye exams and prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lens for many years. He is very thorough in his exams and explains trade offs in being fitted for multi-focal contact lends.

The doctor at davis optical was the most thorough eye doctor I've ever been to. He was so kind, and patient - double and triple checking. I never thought I would have such a wonderful experience at an eye glass place. It was such an unexpected treat. I stopped in out of convenience but I will keep going out of superior service and competency. I strong recommend.

I had slightly bent my glasses , brought them to fix ready to pay , the attendant was happy to fix them at no charge! Great business - will be coming back here when I need a new pair and will bring my husband too.

I had given up on being able to wear contact lenses. But I decided to give it one more try and met with Dr. Frank at Davis. First, the staff is really nice and helpful. The office is well organized and clean. Dr. Frank is friendly, thorough, very competent. I walked out of his office wearing my new contacts. They followed up with me to make sure my contacts were continuing to work for me. Prices are definitely reasonable. I highly recommend Davis Optical.

Dr. Frank is professional, knowledgeable and kind. He's definitely dedicated to his practice. The saleswoman at the front is very helpful and even gave me some good advice about which frames would look best on my face. Stan--the Russian guy at the front gave me all the information and prices no BS and set me up right away. I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off which is sometimes the case at these kinds of places. Overall great experience and I've found my new optometrist in the city.

Not having lots of experience buying glasses, went to several shops in my area, looking for price and quality. Have antique frames that need a skilled artisan that knows glasses. As I opened by eyeglass case, seeing my frames and how I was handling them. He stopped me, seeing they were antique frames and gave me some advice in how to handle them. Seeing how he picked them up and handled my antique frames, I knew picked the right shop. The price was also reasonable and within my budget, which was vital for me. He cares about his work. At my next appointment, of course my Eye Doctor checked my glasses and they were prefect.

Dr. Davis is a kind, gentle old man, although not to sound ageist but I wonder if the quality of his exams is affected by his age. The girl at the reception is always sweet and helpful. BUT beware of the Russian guy who also works there; he is rude, unprofessional, unpleasant, impatient, has no client service skills, and frankly I think he's out to rip people off. I would avoid this establishment solely because of this guy.

Love Dr. Davis! He's been so incredibly patient with my difficult eyes and he is always working to find the best solution! Great practice!!

Pleasantly surprised by my experience today with Doctor Frank and his team. He was extremely efficient yet thorough with my eye exam, thoughtfully addressing my questions and making sure my prescription was accurate. When it came time to discuss buying contacts (which I usually do online), they matched the online price and threw in a bigger rebate so I'm saving 30% compared to the cheapest online option! Never would have thought buying contacts from an optometrist could be cheaper than online! Thanks for the great experience and savings. I will definitely be back to visit Dr Frank for my next eye exam!

Visiting from out of town for the weekend, ran out of contacts and the doc nicely hooked me up with enough to get me through the weekend

Truly disappointed. Have been a customer of this store for over 7 years and my last visit was not what I expected. A few weeks ago I spent a long time selecting the frame that I wanted and asked that they write down the frame in my file. When I went back today they didn't have that information in my file - well - OK - that happens - my challenge is the lack of empathy or responsibility that the owner took. He just stood there with a "whatever" attitude. That type of attitude does not get my recommendation or my business. I always recommended them to my friends and colleagues - but that won't be happening anymore.

Worst customer service and never open on time. Dr is good, but remainder of experience horrible.

This is the best optical store in NYC and I mean that. The staff will help you with excellence and whenever you pop in Dr. Davis will see you . Just amazing customer service and GREAT prices. They beat the chain stores always.

I have been a customer of Davis Optical for two years now. However, with a recent bad experience with my glasses taking a long time (not their fault, my insurance lens provider messed up!), I was debating whether to go back. Then last week, the frame of my glasses broke. I walked into their shop, and within a few minutes, the gentleman (shop-owner) fitted the lenses to a new frame, and handed me a new pair of glasses. When I walked in I was freaking out as I had no extra pair of spare glasses, and given the complicated healthcare system in this country, I wasn't sure what to do. Thanks to the gentleman at Davis Optical, I could go back to my normal routine within minutes from this emergency. I highly recommend this shop for their excellent customer service.

I take issue with being asked for my benefits plan before being asked for name. It's a rude way of doing business and I was totally put off by this place when this happened to me literally 5 minutes ago. I specifically asked the receptionist if she wanted my name first, and she said she wanted to look up my benefits plan first. This is a basic customer service point that you have some how managed to fail. Compounding this problem, I called back and told the receptionist that she was being rude to customers by specifically asking for a benefits plan before getting any of my information, and she INSISTED that she was in the right asking for the policy first. If I, a customer, am telling you that I'm put off by your service, the correct answer is NOT to say I'm in the wrong for asking if you want my name. If this is how your business treats potential new customers, you're risking a lot of business by having a community-facing customer service representative lacking basic social skills.

My first time here and it was great. Staff was helpful and courteous. These guys went above and beyond my expectations for service and quality. Definitely recommend if you live in the area!

Best place to buy your glasses. Dr. Frank is extremely patient with my difficult prescription. Stan and the other older gentleman adjust and make my glasses, like no one else ever could. I trust these guys from beginning to end when it comes to seeing clearly! The young lady up front is also super pleasant to deal with! They accept a number of insurance plans and care credit. They also have a really nice selection of eyewear. Best place ever!!!!!!

Buyer beware!! I ordered top of the line lenses with the anti-fog, scratch resistant, and transitions features. The price came very close to $700 but I was happy to spend it to receive top-quality lenses. When I picked up the glasses there were no warranties or documents that stated that the features I requested were included on the lenses and was told by Stan (salesman) that everything was warranted and on file and all I needed to do was return and any potential problem would be fixed. I took his word for it. Although I could see the transition lens feature was completed; as they turned dark when I went into the sun, later I realized that my glasses did in fact fog up on humid days in and out of air conditioned spaces, and most recently all of the small scratches on the lenses were becoming more noticeable and bothersome when reading. When I returned to the store to have the issue corrected they told me that my warranty was only for a year and expired 45 days ago and I would need to repurchase new lenses. Note: I've purchased many glasses in the past and always received paperwork for each feature and warranty information including serial numbers. This shop gave me none of those but I was foolish enough to believe they would back their products just from the salesperson's word. Zero stars if possible.

I also have been a loyal consumer of this business for years. However, I was quite displeased with their service in the later few days. I purchased a pair of designer's frames and to no fault of any ones the right temple fell off. I returned to Davis Optical for repairing they explained to me that the temple will cost me sixty five dollars to fix, it had to be done by a jeweler. It was repaired and done quite professionally, However, after a few months the other side broke off as well, this was April 24th. I returned to Davis Optical and was told again the same had to be done and the cost will be the same sixty five dollars. When I picked up the glasses on the 26th, that night I noticed that the left temple was plainly glued back on. The work was not neat and definitely did not look professionally repaired as where the right temple. No glue at all on the right temple. I went back to the shop and spoke to Frank Davis personally about my complaints. He assured me that my complaints will be looked in to. Today I received a call from one of the clerks from his business. She explained to me that the work was done differently because the break was different and the jeweler used a proxy on the temple. Proxy is a glue. Thanks, Mr. Frank Davis for appreciating my loyal business. PS: The break was the same

I have been using Davis Optical for at least 10 years. They treat customers like they are royalty. I had some problems with my eyes on my last visit and they worked with me for over a month - making changes and returning until everything was 100%. They are terrific.

What a LOVELY place! The staff is beyond kind and Dr. Davis is fantastic. He takes his time and is incredibly helpful. I feel like you could easily find this shop in a small, wonderful town - but alas, it's smack dab in the middle of Manhattan. The best eye doctor I've been to in years, hands down. 100% recommended. Down-to-the-earth, efficient, and professional. I had a pair of glasses done there (with a Lindberg frame) and I was very happy with the experience and with the price. A few months later, following a small accident, of my own fault, I distorted the frame. I showed up at the store and they fixed them on the spot, free of any charge.

I called in the morning and got an appointment for the afternoon. Dr. Frank was attentive and such a nice guy. Really cares about his patients. Staff was friendly. Greeted me, answered questions. They did not pressure me to buy anything I didn't need. They explained insurance to me (glasses vs. contacts) and gave me best option. LOTS of frames to choose from. If you are looking for designer frames def a good place to look. Strongly recommend Davis. A++ service. Thank you!

This was my second time at Davis Optical. I left equally as impressed as I was the first time. I had called in advance to schedule my appointment so there was virtually no wait when I arrived. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the contacts fitting was really reasonably priced. Dr Frank is quite laid back and friendly. I'll definitely return again!

Frames I had purchased through the Union office broke after roughly a year and needed some new ones immediately. Not only was Davis Optical able to accomodate me with an affordable pair, but I actually see better with these. Seems the Union optician never set the lens in the original frame correctly. Who knew? I came here because my insurance covered it and I got high end fast service. The doctor is amazing, caring, precise and so are the girl and the guy working in front. I got my glasses in no time!
