You’ll Never Believe This, but yet Another Caffe Nero Opens Today | Eater Boston

"I learned that Ben Lewis, maker of RainTaps — umbrellas topped with decorative beer tap handles inspired by a Pretty Things tap handle — currently sells his creations at Davis Squared after conceiving the idea from spotting a tap handle he admired and deciding to make umbrellas more aesthetically pleasing." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
This is a wonderful local store that smells delightful inside and is beautifully laid out. They offer a wide variety of useful products or gifts made locally, a few things that caught my eye were some hats made in Maine. They seemed to be of excellent quality, and the same could be said for the rest of the products that I inspected. I look forward to going there again when I have some more disposable income or need to buy a present. I want one of those hats!

Google
Found the cutest local gifts at Davis Squared — super creative and unique! Then grabbed the Crave Club Deal from Papa Jack — the pizza was loaded with flavor and totally satisfying. Can’t wait to come back for both!

Google
This store is so cute! Davis Sq if my favorite part of Somerville, it's very neighborly and this store encapsulates what I love most about the area! The workers are so nice, going so far as personally picking up some jewelry for me that was out of stock at this location at their sister store as I don't have a car. Will definitely be back, thanks!

Google
Fun variety of items!

Chris S.

Google
I'm typically not a fan of stores like this but I have to say this place is great. They always have a fun mix of local branded items combined with interesting gift options. The kind of place you can go to and grab great gifts for half a dozen people in one trip. It's definitely not cheap, but they will have what you didn't know you wanted.

Jack M.

Google
Davis Squared always has the right gift for the special someone in your life. From candles, to water cans, baby bibs, bar supplies, and cards, they have it all. Amazing for small and personal gifts that never feel generic.

Amy H.

Google
Love this store! It's my go-to for gifts and cards. I always try to buy local, so I love that they sell some items from local artists! The staff is friendly and helpful too :)

Chris L.

Google
Great store with always a few new things to check out. Highly recommended for some unique gifts. Has a hipster vibe. Owner is very laid back and nice.

Yelp
My go-to shop for quick, yet thoughtful gifts. Conveniently located in Davis square, and cleverly named Davis squared, this shop has a great selection for everyone. Gifts that are specific to Somerville/locals, things for the basic b*tches (using term in an endearing way, we all love a pumpkin spiced latte), niknaks for those with specific interests, fun ingredients & essentials for cocktail-making, artsy puzzles, unique home goods, toys -- this place has it all, and with personality. +The shop always has cool music playing and the owner is chill. Pricing ranges, so there are budget friendly finds. And they always wrap the gifts for me, which I appreciate.

Yelp
I love walking around a neighborhood and coming across stores like these. This store has fun gift ideas, small home items, candles, books, art made by local artists, birthday cards, truly a little bit of everything. Even just walking around to browse everything will bring you joy -- much like stopping to read the greeting cards they sell. :)

Yelp
Oh my gosh... The most amazing gift store I've seen lately! I could've bought everything in the store... From amazing cookbooks to great items for your home bar, fun socks, baby gifts, jewelry, political statements, stickers, Boston items... You name it they carry it. Beautifully curated and displayed in nice little groupings. Customer service was great, attentive but not in your face. Definitely pop in when you were looking for that special gift for that special someone

J M.

Yelp
Lots of cool items, very reasonably priced. The sales person was super friendly and helpful. I bought a book-end here for $16 that sells for $22-$31 on Amazon.

Yelp
I've been a costumer to this amazing store for more than 12 years. And always loved it! Great selection of ideas for gifts, and the owners are super nice! So is the cashier who always greets you with a warm "hello". Reading Peter V. comments on here, saying that he was (or maybe more like THEY were - they, being a group of young kids) "chased out" of the store (with a fist) I'm certain that the reason the cashier had to ask them to leave the store was validated by the fact this GROUP of young teenagers were disrespectful to the store merchandise (were you there Peter V?), by trying on a few items and throughing them back in the shelves. Not just nicely placing the items back, they were actually throwing things like eye glasses and other things around after posing with the merchandise for pictures. Kids these days lack good manners. And that is not an acceptable attitude to be proud of... you may be a parent "protecting" your offspring, but first of all, good mannered we learn from home!

Dave B.

Yelp
A good local gift store that has a lot of nice items for your home. Quirky little gift shop that doesn't really exist anymore. The things are typically pretty adorable and the best thing is that it's super local, which is great!!!
google avatar

Sakina B.

Yelp
Shopping local during covid? Thank goodness to Melisa and her staff for a cool spin on the ordinary to delightfully elegant needs for one's self and others. I found adorable purse-ready deodorants to pristine glasses; a section is dedicated to munchkins and handsome gifts for him. And, I even found a treat for the garden!
google avatar

Alison K.

Yelp
Nice shop with cool gift items such as cookbooks, specialty soaps and lotions, bags, T-shirts, candles, jewelry, and some things I would consider more on the fun side for kids or gag gifts.

Yelp
D2 is the rebirth of the gift shop Pluto, which was located on Elm Street. I was bummed when Pluto closed because it was my go-to place for gifts, cards, and anything just a little offbeat. I bought my favorite necklace there - a piece imported from the Netherlands, made out of some kind of resin. The woman running D2 used to work at Pluto, and opened D2 with her husband to fill in the gap that Pluto's closing left. The space is a little bigger than Pluto, and they're still stocking the shelves with merchandise. However, the items they do have are high quality and offbeat, just like Pluto. My favorite items, aside from the jewelery, are the picture frames, bags, and cards. They also sell Davis Square t-shirts and hats. A few final details: D2 does accept credit cards. You can return items within 14 days for a merchandise exchange - no refunds. I actually had to return a picture frame as it was broken when I opened it, but it was no problem to exchange it for a new one. The frame was so cool, I didn't even mind having to return to get a replacement. Now that D2 is here, I'll once again know exactly where to go to get that gift that you don't want to be just ordinary. (What a mouthful!) Anyway. Check it out - you don't be disappointed.

Yelp
Huge shout out to Davis Squared! They are open during this crazy time for pick up. As long as you know what you are looking for (they have an Instagram, which you can use to pick out what you want), you can pick up your items at the door. I broke my favorite necklace that my friend bought for me from their store. In less than 24 hrs, I had a new one . Shop local and support small businesses

Yelp
I like this shop for unique gifts that have a Somerville flare to them. For example, there are Somerville map coasters and "made in somerville" baby clothes. It's the type of shop you can always find something new in when you visit. I highly recommend checking it out when you're Christmas shopping for the person who "has everything".
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
A great range of eccentric items with prices that range from a steal to outrageous. Mostly, I enjoy just poking around in here a bit. For me though, my favorite things are the creative post cards, great for last minute bithday etc cards. When I do (IF I do) ever move out of somerville, I'm going to have to stop by to stock up on Davis Square coasters, posters and etc to decorate... well where ever I go. Please keep Davis Squared in business for the foreseeable future so I can follow through with my plan!
google avatar

Nerissa G.

Yelp
Very cute stationary and gifts (including various tea products and locally produced honey) for reasonable prices. I can't wait to try my chocolate hazelnut black tea :-) I also felt welcomed and greeted once I popped in. Will definitely return!

Yelp
When my sister came to visit me, we hit up Davis Squared & got an eclectic mishmash of items: tea & cup set for my mom, jewelry & hair clips for her, "Paris" card holder for me, ultra thin bagallini purse for me (perfect for travel)...there may have been two or three other things that were for me... Definitely the local shop you wanna spend your money in. Candles, signs with cliche but inspirational quotes, baby clothes, wallets, jewelry by local artists, colorful things, shiny things, things you don't need but want...grab what you want now because it won't be there in three weeks, as inventory is constantly changing. This place has solved gift-giving dilemmas more than once. I always see the same lady behind the register & she's always patient & helpful. My sister & I were here around closing time & she was more than accommodating, so thank you, Ms. :)

Yelp
Came here during the Midnight Madness sale and walked away with a few things for my Yankee Swaps and a birthday gift. The selection is more urban chic than anything else really. I loved the way the store was laid out, with enough room to maneuver between displays and tables. There's a cute infant/toddler's section towards the back, a jewelry display case, kitchen settings, gloves, hats, & scarves, soaps, decor, and many other random knick-knacks. Definitely a "cute" store to go to if you're looking for something different and unique to your corporate department or discount stores. NOTE: they also have Davis t-shirts and hoodies, which I will be back for.

Yelp
Lady Friend: "It's like they made a store out of me!". Spaghetti Cat: "You mean FOR you, right?" Lady Friend: "No, just what I said". Spaghetti Cat: "Huh, whuh? ... I don't know you at all anymore, do I? Let's break up!" Lady Friend: "Shut up! Buy me that tote bag with alligators on it!" Spaghetti Cat: "Yes ma'am!" Lady Friend: "And this cigarette case!" Spaghetti Cat: "But you don't smoke..." Lady Friend: "Shut up! And why don't you throw in this basket of knickknacks and trinkets and tchotchkes while you're at it!" Spaghetti Cat: "Hate to break it to you, toots, but knickknacks, tchotchkes, trinkets - they are the same thing" Lady Friend - WHAP! Spaghetti Cat: "Well, that was uncalled for? Does her majesty require children's books as well?" Lady Friend: "She does" Spaghetti Cat: "Well, then lookee here in the back" Lady Friend: "Capital! Settle in, champ, it's going to be awhile!" Spaghetti Cat: "Don't worry about me. I'll occupy myself with this Choose Your Own Adventure Dating Guide. .... Oh look. We end after two choices. Page 45. Right here!" Lady Friend - WHAP!

Yelp
Want a cute, artsy, personalized gift that will scream uniqueness and fun? Well, you've come to the right place! Davis Squared is a nice space to buy a gift for your friends, siblings, parents, grandparents, significant other....just about anyone! It's also an amusing store just to walk around and window shop in and make mental notes of items that may come in handy in the future. While walking through the store I spied: -some adorable baby and children's clothes and toys -neat Somerville related handbags and magnets -hand crafted jewelry, scarves, wallets, posters, etc. from local artists -nice scented candles and bath soaps -cool men's hats and ties -kitchen gear -ornaments and home decor - the list goes on! With a store like this, I imagine there is quite a bit of rotation of new items, so stop by every once in a while and see what you spy.

Yelp
Obviously the best gift shop in Davis Squaria, I can hop into this thoughtfully curated shop for any occasion. Need a last minute gift for your Aunt in Colorado? They've got crafty candles and bitchin' scarves. Need a wacky get well card for your friend in JP who got hit by a car on while riding her bike back from the Whatever-Hippy-Festival? They've got it. They also carry funny Fred items, baby stuff, and mancessories. Plus they are only steps from the UPS store and post office. BUY STUFF FROM THEM.
google avatar

Trish F.

Yelp
::Puts blinking red reindeer nose on the counter:: Me: I'm gonna need one of these. Cashier: Haha.. Going to a party? Me: Uh no. But I'll find a use. Oh Davis Squared. So I remember not liking the woman behind the counter the very first time I went in but I haven't seen her since then, so I can safely give this store a better rating. This place seems pretty chick friendly just by looking at the cards on the left wall when you walk in: "Dance like no one's watching" blah bloo blah and some with that Emerson quote about laughing at children.. er.. laughing often and gaining the love of children? Oh you know what I mean. Then you look at Christmas cards on the table that feature Dorothy in drag. Yoink. They've got a ton of gift ideas: stuff for the home (rubber duckies/soaps and flatware) and office, baby clothes and accessories, and even some Davis Square clothes (American Apparel style). Great for browsing, awesome for buying, and even better for useless slash AMAZING things like reindeer noses.

Yelp
Adorable little place! Easy to find. Worth the stop. Place had a lot of little unique knick-knack sort of things - not a ton of stock, but great nonetheless. Prices are reasonable. Staff seemed nice and helpful. Great place for random gifts for friends and family that have a personal touch without dropping a lot of cash.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
So this year for Christmas I aimed to avoid stepping inside a single mall, and stores like this really helped. They've got great stuff (at varying levels on the hilarious - practical spectrum) for anyone with a sense of humor or a love of Davis Square. My brother was particularly fond of the UFO ice cubes I got him. I'm glad that there is a place around here with creative and fun gifts. They also have a great selection of cards for all occasions, which I find myself giving more and more.
google avatar

Marie C.

Yelp
Yay! This store is a little bit like Black Ink, in Harvard Square, but less "toy" oriented and more "home" oriented. There are lots of great quirky gifts to be had here, and a lot of really neat things in general. The women who work here are very nice, had some helpful suggestions for me and seemed happy to chat for a bit. I love the Davis Square messenger bags too, definitely something for the Somerville-obsessed. Check them out when you need something fun, or just to get some good ideas. Also, the jewelry is really pretty.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
Like a moth to a flame, Molly is to Davis Squared when in the square. Lots of cute, affordable curiosities for the home (but do I really need ice cube trays shaped like guitars? - Probably). For my money, this is the best place in Davis for quirky, one of a kind jewelry (and there seem to be a lot of options these days). The first time I went into d2 the owener was on site, and she was so nice and friendly - definitely made an impression on me.
google avatar

Sylvia B.

Yelp
I love this place! It has a wide range of merchandise, from goofy to beautiful. Somehow you can walk out with a beautiful Christmas ornament in one hand and a hilarious piggy bank in the other. There are great baby gifts in the back, and fun Davis Square-themed clothing in the front. Also: stylish hats, cute jewelry, and other things you didn't think you needed until you stepped in there. I've bought many gifts here - for others and for myself!
google avatar

Jamie N.

Yelp
Enh. I bought a thirty dollar purse here and it broke. And this happened about a few months after I bought it. My initial response is to think "Well, that's what you get for thirty dollars." But you know what? It ain't. I have purchased cheapo bags at larger stores and they did not fall apart. I want to support the local shops in Davis, but there's nothing really that special about D Squared unless I want to buy overpriced baby clothing or tacky jewlery made of crystal (and not Swarovski). I did buy a hat here for the winter season, on sale, and it held up. But, bottom line - I could get cooler stuff across the street at Magpie. Sorry D, but you're not representing the square very well.
google avatar

Barbara A.

Yelp
I like this quirky place. I always end up buying something that I had not idea I needed or wanted. My sons go often to the comic book store next door so it was a genius move to put this place next to it so moms could come over and look. I will always be able to find a gift for that someone I have trouble buying for or for a unique gift. The prices are average - sometimes ridiculous but often very reasonable.
google avatar

Tamar A.

Yelp
Okay. Plan of action: 1. Walk into D Squared, wave a cheery hello to the nice dude at the counter, head straight for the back, peruse the hip and ironic collection of bibs and bitty tee-shirts. Buy set of adorable wee socks with Mary Janes imprinted on them. 2. Ask a good friend to get pregnant. 3. Wait nine months. 4. Bingo! Best baby gift ever!
google avatar

Bridget B.

Yelp
This is a very cute store, I remember going to it's predecessor a few years ago (same owner, different name, different location) and being sad that they were closing. Now they've reopened, and have more cute, mostly useless tchotchkes than you can shake a stick at. The selection of stuff is pretty random, ranging from books, nail clippers, jewelry, perfume, skin care, jewelry ranging from cheap to pricey, wallets, all sorts of hipstery stuff that should fit in quite well with Davis Square crowd, though I do wonder if there will end up being some redundancy between them and Magpie. The prices range depending on what you're looking at. Some stuff seems very reasonable, some stuff not so much. The store is clean, brightly lit, often a little overwhelming smelling either due to incense or scented candles, and the staff has always been very friendly. It's a good place to go holiday shopping for people that: a) you don't know well b) you know they love kitsch c) have everything and you're stumped
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Me and my friend stopped in this store on a blizzard day, happy that they had not closed early. The store is primarily for gifts, but we fell in love with the products... for ourselves! The store attendant was really helpful and funny. I would definitely go back to buy a gift for mother's day or a good friends birthday. You can find things for the person who is hard to shop for.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
I once bought a giant yellow paper flower at Davis Squared, and biked home with it sticking out of my bag. It made everyone smile who saw me. I loved that there was a store that could sell me giant -- no, like really giant! -- paper flowers. So Davis Squared gets points for that. They're super friendly and have tons of fun stuff to peruse. I find it's not quite quirky enough for my tastes, and have started to go elsewhere since there's so many shops like this in the area. But this isn't necessarily Davis Squared's fault; I think they're aiming for a different clientele. A little higher-end, a little more refined and/or conventional, a little more expensive. Perfect for gifts for my aunt, my mom, & my grandma. Paper flowers, though, can be for everyone!
google avatar

Jenn P.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME. I don't get here even half as much as I want to, but it's my definite go-to if I need a card or a baby thing that somebody else definitely didn't already buy or just some funky thoughtful little something for someone. More often than not, I just have to pick up something for me whilst I'm in there, too :) Everybody who works here has been super helpful if needed, or just checks in and lets me wander if I am more in "looking-around" mode. The woman who owns the place is uber-sweet. She completely validated my notion that this wine-scented soap shaving mug thingy that they had a year ago or so was completely appropriate for either gender, so I am psyched every time I shave now, and the bathroom smells weirdly delicious. Anyway. I cannot wait to see what they have stocked on their shelves for the holidays ahead!
google avatar

Cara P.

Yelp
I love EVERYTHING about this store. Very chic with AWESOME gifts with price points for EVERYONE. Though things aren't all handmade like Magpie, everything is unique and thoughtfully selected From perfume, jewelry, art, prints, frames, to candles, even makeup...to dangling crystal bulb covers!!! I WILL be back! I could every single thing in that store.Open any magazine to their "what's hot" section and D2 will carry something just like it!
google avatar

Peg P.

Yelp
This is a cute little place that has a variety of unique gifts and knick knacks. It is owned by the same people who operated Pluto in Davis Square (now closed). If you had ever been to Pluto, Davis Square is very similar. I never have a hard time finding items to purchase in stores like this. I bought a scarf that i wear a lot and get MANY compliments on. It was reasonably priced and good quality. I also bought some stationary and other gift items. The store has a nice layout with plenty of stuff to investigate!! Staff were friendly. You can alertly loose track of time in this place!!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
This place is great. I found exactly what i was looking for! I'll be back....as soon as the winter collection comes in.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Adorable stuff, much of it locally oriented / made with friendly staff.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Whenever I need to buy a gift for anyone with somewhat discriminating taste - I go to Davis Squared. I walk by the place regularly on my way to/from the T, and the funky window displays often draw me in. The merch changes regularly so its fun to check it out every few months. There is a small manly section, a small kids section, and a lot of quirky houseware accessories. But on the whole, this is a chick spot. Here, I've bought one of a kind wall art, hand knit gloves, greeting cards, and funky business card holders. I've also bought classy kitchen ware, baby booties, and a Davis Square logo zipfront sweatshirt. Most of the merch is on the good end of the quality spectrum and the prices reflect that. They range from moderate to high - and are fairly typical for this kind of white-people-designer-ish aesthetic.
google avatar

Traci K.

Yelp
I sometimes forget how much I love the local area shops in Davis. D Squared is one of my faves. They have lots of kitschy and fun things - everything from baby gear to denture ice cube trays. The shop has a nice selection of Hobo bags and wallets (*insert drooling here) and I'm particularly fond of their postcard collection. I'm all about supporting the locally owned and operated businesses and D Squared is at the top of my list!
google avatar

N D.

Yelp
I am not sure that I would say that I like d2 over Magpie, or vice versa. But I do love Davis Squared! It's essentially a larger version of Magpie - sure there are less indie t-shirts at d2 but they have generally similar merchandise. The items at this store range from great hand lotions (they have a jasmine one currently and it smells freaking incredible) to weed words fridge magnets (!), aprons, some techie stuff all the way to children's toys. I myself just recently purchased a ridiculously polka-dotted piggy bank and a mini toilet plunger that acts like a stand for my phone. And I love the cards here, a lot of them are extremely funny and secretly want to just buy them for myself! Overall, a great store, one I will always stop in at because it's so fun and interesting; we should all support the local economy!
google avatar

Binh L.

Yelp
Great selection of unique gifts, greeting cards, and best of all - it's local (though not all their products are sourced locally)! You have different kinds of gifts for household, bath/body, babies, hats, cologne, candles, and seriously I have nothing to complain about. They have good hours too (you mean, they're still open after you come home from work?) so do yourself a favor and do your holiday shopping here. I've often come here for last minute gifts and walk out a winner. Your loved ones will think you're so cool.. shopping all local and shtuff.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Reminds me more of Black Ink than Magpie. D Squared is full of adorable and kitschy gifts, cards, jewelry, and knick knacks. A perfect place to get a random gift for someone. Since Black Ink is in Harvard Square and on Beacon Hill I'd probably go here first because it's so close to home even though they are my go-to places for cute and eccentric gifts. A little pricey but still very cute.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Need a quirky Christmas tree ornament made out of recycled magazine paper? Or perhaps a tote bag made out of recycled plastic, or an ice cube tray shaped like brains? Well, look no further than Davis Squared! There's a handful of fun little shops like this in the Camberville area...Joie De Vivre, Black Ink, Nomad, etc, and this happens to be Davis Square's contribution. (I don't count Magpie because of the emphasis on local artists there, whereas at the other listed places, the items seem to be more mass-produced). Anyway, it's a cute little shop where one can pick out fun little gifts for family and friends. Everything from accessories to candles to knick-knacks to fancy-pants bath/body products to smartass magnets to quirky kitchen gadgets (and so much more) can be found here. It's a regular stop for me when Christmas rolls around and I'm running around like a madwoman, trying to find fun little things to give hard-to-shop-for relatives. The prices aren't bad and vary quite a bit depending on what you're shopping for, and the staff is hands-off but very friendly. It's a fun place to poke around in if you're already in Davis for, say, dinner or Honkfest.
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
I was heartbroken when Pluto closed up shop and delighted that the proprietor's reincarnated in the form of Davis Squared a little while later. The owner is delightful and has a knack for stocking cute, personable gifts. It's a neighborhood treasure and my go-to spot for hostess / baby / bday / holiday gifts. They even started carrying Goorin Bros hats. love-Love-LOVE!
google avatar

Chanel R.

Yelp
I stopped in when this place first opened and was not too impressed. The stuff was bland and not very useful. I went in yesterday desperate for gifts and I noticed that their stock improved. I saw a lot of cute men and woman's hats and scarves which looked unique, cute wallets and more. Although I could not find what I wanted for this person, I could see other gifts fitting for my other friends there. I suggest stopping in to support the local business.
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
I'm in love with this store, but it's expensive. Tons of arty, local, cute things that if I were to ever live somewhere for more than 6 months or if I got like $5k from HGTV to redecorate my home, I'd definitely come here. That sounds silly, but it's the truth. Lots of random knick-knacks: I got an over-the-top beaded ring that I bust out with a more demure outfit and always get looks (stares) at my finger and it makes me proud. I also came in and spent $12 on a stack of 10 post-consumer waste, recycled paper, organic, blahblahblah notecards with a super cute design. (I was splurging. On notecards. It's like sometimes I don't really get life .. or something.) At the very least, I would suggest looking in on the shop and seeing if there's anything you like. It's cool to just hang out in, and I've always gotten a helpful, chill vibe from the staff.
google avatar

Claire H.

Yelp
This place is great! They are a little pricey on a college budget, but I still found myself buying birthday and holiday gifts here throughout my undergraduate studies. Things worth splurging on here: - clever socks - candles - Somerville swag (shirts, mugs, etc.) They also have a sister store in Arlington on Mass ave!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
So, so glad Davis Squared exists -- Davis needed just this place. It has great cards, cute jewelry, fun hats, and great lotions, some cute tote bags, etc. A great place for a little birthday, hostess, or baby gift. I've also bought several trinkets for myself - earrings, coin purses - this sort of thing. Love the silly things too -- creatively shaped ice cube trays, etc. I wish 2 or 3 more boutiques of this ilk would open, and make Davis more of a go-to shopping destination.
google avatar

Courtney H.

Yelp
So, this store is on Yelp twice, apparently? It appears that the category I'm writing under is the new one for the store... This is a cute little store full of cute little things. It's mostly girly goodies with a touch of snark. This is the kind of place to get a little treat for someone else, or splurge on some whimsy. There are cards, magnets, baby clothes, soaps, gadgets for the house, and many more random things. They also have Davis Square athletic shirts, which I thought was pretty cool. My husband could not wait to get out of here, whereas I wanted to touch every single item. Adjust yourself accordingly.
google avatar

Phe N.

Yelp
Filling the much missed void that Pluto left when they closed shop, Davis Squared is almost brand new to the square and appeared to be a bit short on inventory...but was definitely worth the stop. I had been looking forward to their opening for some time and when I finally walked by and saw it was open, I diverted course and ducked in out of the rain. I walked around each display about 10 times before settling for a pair of earrings and ring at the counter. I loved them so much, I wanted to wear them right then and there. The woman behind the counter (I'm assuming it was the owner) must have thought I was nuts as I changed my earrings and ring while she was running my card, but she complimented my selection, allowed me to see the new accessories in a hand held mirror she procured and was generally quite nice which was a refrehsing change. While she was running my card, I also picked up a little Buddha and a love token for my love (rude of me to not get him a little bit of something, no?) and I was sent merrily on my way. That was about a month ago. I hope that, since then, Ihey've expanded their inventory. Although I spent more than anyone should ever spend on anything in Pluto, it still went out. I do solemnly swear that I will spend more to keep D2 in business.

I was very excited when i found out Melissa was opening D2! I was missing Pluto, and am even happier with D2. This is the first place i check out if i need to get a gift for someone. I don;t understand the comparisons to Magpie, two very different stores, but they complement each other in the 'hood. i also don't get the it's "so pricey" reviews...umm,people,we live in the city! check out this Davis sq gem! and all the peeps who work there are awesome! they don't allow dogs?! why should they, it's not an animal clinic!
