Love this unusual richly decorated hotel. Lots of love was put into this small hotel. A far cry from other top, luxury hotels which have the same minimalist cold design beige interior with an ikea feel. Here the arched hallways, the carved top design above the doors to the rooms and the exquisite carved bed surrounding make this hotel precious and a breath of fresh air to the other modern plain looking luxury hotels. Please Hilton don’t change anything.

I decided to treat myself this time, and what a treat it was.||The Daxton is very, very nice. The layout of their entryway and ground floor is very open and inviting. As you walk in, the bar/lounge is to the left. Further back along the same line is their restaurant. ||I do appreciate their nod to security. You need a room key to access any floor above the ground floor. ||Each floor has its own pantry. The pantry is a small room where you can get snacks and nonalcoholic drinks, like sodas and water. All this is included in your rate. || The room is very cool. ||The bathroom is off a small hallway. Inside the bathroom, there is a water closet that separates the toilet from the sink and shower. They provided me with lots of towels at least five complete sets.||The room's ceiling has crown molding. There are plenty of outlets. My bed had plenty of pillows, too. My count was 8 full sized pillows. || Inside the closet are two cotton terrycloth robes and a pair of slippers.||It was a great stay!! My "spots" require improved operational attention. I am confused why a member of the Valet team was spending so much time at the front desk/check in, check out area. I said "hello" to a member of the housekeeping team. They looked at me like I was crazy. ||Once management addresses these two items, I have no doubt that this establishment will be a perennial five-star gem and a shining jewel in the Hilton crown. ||

BEWARE OF UNDISCLOSED HIDDEN FEES When I checked in, the front desk talked up the "free" snacks and drinks in a dedicated space on each floor. BUT when checking out, I was charged a $30 fee that had not been disclosed when I made the reservation, when I checked in, or anywhere else. When I asked about why I was being charged a $30 fee, the front desk agent (different from the one who checked me in) said it was to cover the cost of the "free" snacks and drink and other things like WIFI. AND that Hilton forces them to charge the fee. Huh? Pretty deceptive practices I must say. I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member and I don't except to have to pay a surprise $30 fee for things that should automatically be included in the room rate, especially when I was told at check in that they were included. The only items in the "free" room are chips, apples, water, tea, and soft drinks. I would prefer to buy $30 of these products if I want them and not have to pay this ridiculous fee when I was told at check in it was "included in my package". I see from the reviews of others that I am not the only one who has been peeved by this fee and by the downright dishonesty of the hotel. BUYER BEWARE! UPDATE: 03/24 - So, as requested by the hotel, I contacted them on 03/05 directly so they could "follow up" with me. I received an automated response stating "please allow 3 days for follow-up" (Case # 233591162). It has now been almost 3 weeks and I have not received any "follow up" whatsoever from either Hilton or the Daxton. So much for "customer service" or truly caring about the deceptive billing practices or being a good host. Do better Hilton and Daxton. Do better.

Recently stayed at Daxton for a wedding. The hotel is very classy, it's like a boutique hotel with so much charm. I'll admit that I'm kind of a hotel snob- but its only because I've worked in the industry as well as in hotel management for over 10 years. We kind of got into the wrong foot at check in- the corner suite I had booked was not available at check in... or any other upgrades for our entire stay. The check in lady did not apologize to us and simply gave us room keys to the downgrade without acknowledging what had happened. So you can imagine our faces when we walked into a room which was totally different than pictures... especially after a long and exhausting flight. The truth was, the property was overbooked and sold out the entire weekend. Later we found out it was because the he Knicks players (who were supposed to stay in Townsend ended up crashing at Daxton instead.) Still, it was a huge disappointment for us, as I've heard great things about this hotel and have always wanted to stay here in Birmingham. We were bumped down to the standard rooms, which weren't bad but we could have really loved the additional space and experience that we originally planned for. The TV in the room was extremely crooked and slanted, and there was no hot water from one of the sinks. Finally, we were met with Jackson the manager who turned our whole experience around. He was extremely empathetic and apologetic. He offered us comps for our stay, as well as a voucher to use in our next visit. Despite the room not being up to our standards, Jackson made us feel very seen and heard, and i appreciate the genuine effort to rectify the issues with his professionalism and kindness. We look forward to our next stay with Daxton Hotel and confident that it will be better than this one!

Bad brunch experience..First let me say that my husband works very hard to plan brunch for holidays and we were looking forward to an exceptional experience at the Daxton. We arrived early for our 11:30 reservation at 11 and were promptly seated. Although I did have to ask for water after being seated several minutes, I wasn't put off because I thought staff likely just arriving. After enjoying our food and hour later , the floor manager came over to tell my husband and I that we would have to be leaving as table was booked only for 1.5 hours; this was the same message given to the table next to us. I replied that we would leave when finished with our food (we were on coffee/dessert). When she came by again I called her over and asked if we were over time. She said our reservation was 10 am. I replied our reservation was 11:30 & we were seated early at 11. The floor manager went on to say that she would relay that to her boss who had likely gotten mixed up. I told her that this left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I would not be coming back. My husband would not let me speak to the manager directly... sad experience on a holiday... we walked out at 12:15... Follow up after 1 week: I sent email response as requested ,but haven't had any Follow up communication. I guess even with Mother's Day Brunches coming up, my experience was not worth communication from management...sad to say ,I am not surprised.

I stayed at the Daxton for many weeks during Fall / Winter '24 and had a great time during all my stays! The entire team was so welcoming and accommodating to their guests. It's a really cool building with nice rooms, event halls, restaurant, and bar. It was decorated for the holidays and becomes super lively during the weekends with live music. Definitely recommend staying here and you're a close walk to many restaurants and shops in Birmingham!

This place is immaculate. I really enjoyed talking to Joe the bartender. He’s a great guy and I tested his bartending knowledge. He really knows his stuff. Ask for Joe’s Old Fashioned.

Yelp
The Daxton is not just a hotel, it's an experience. If you appreciate art, design, luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining, and outstanding service this is the place to stay! The service at the Daxton was impeccable. From the moment I checked in the staff were attentive, courteous, and eager to ensure I had the best day possible, whether it was recommendations for local attractions or prompt room service. Every interaction was warm and professional. The location is ideal. It is close to boutique shops and restaurants and only a short drive from downtown Detroit.

Yelp
We loved the Vibe at the Daxton and booked it for my Daughter's Wedding, then it all went t down hill. We flew there to get everything confirmed and my daughters Mother-in -law worked with them for months to get everything set. The litany of screw-ups was un comprehensible ‍ We spent almost one full day trying to get into the correct Bridal Suite the we booked 3 months earlier in person. I finally asked one of the nice girls at the front desk "do you have constant reservation problems or is it just us"? She replied, "No it's us" For a Property that has been open for 4+ years you think they would have figured it out. If you choose to deal with this nightmare be sure you get everything in writing and every hotel charge itemized. I had at least 6-7 large room charge mistakes in 4 days. On a side note many of our Wedding attendees that stayed there in the room block had issues as well. There are other options within a few blocks FYI Hopefully your experience will be better. Check the reviews after this date and see if there is any improvement before you book would be my advice.

Yelp
I am revising my review from a 5 to a 2 The hotel is gorgeous The staff professional So what's the matter? The room temperature. Even the worst hotels have temperature controls that work This hotel has a set temp and no matter what it doesn't go below 72 degrees If you sleep hot too bad. When you call the front desk they'll tell you it will go down periodically at hourly increments a couple of degrees But wait....they'll bring you a fan to make it more tolerable!!! Are you kidding me?! This is night 2 of a 3 day work stay and it's unacceptable.

Yelp
We stayed at the Daxton for New Years Eve to attend their event and we had the best time. We are even more grateful that we were able to bring our gentle giant (our dog, Lando) with us. Right when you pull in, the valet crew is there to help you with whatever you need. They brought a luggage cart and helped us unload the car. They even gave Lando a treat and lots of pets. The lobby is busy but beautiful. There is a restaurant inside of the hotel to the left that you can only get to by entering the hotel. Before the restaurant entrance is the the hotel bar and to the right is the lobby area with tons of seating and a the entrance to their ballroom, gallery, etc. you walk towards the back right to check into the hotel. We checked in with ease, however I think my only complaint about this entire experience was that it was hard to hear/understand the person checking us in. They talked really fast and really low. He hurried me through the check-in process which I wasn't able to put my email in or correct contact information since I booked this through the events page. So I wasn't able to get a bill or be aware when other events are etc. I also was the only one in the check in room that wasn't offered a glass of champagne, which was odd and when I asked the guys handing them out he just said oh, sorry.. Regardless we were still excited to stay and moved on. They delivered our luggage to our room which was super nice. The room was the perfect size! It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. I was told that included in our pet fee was a bowl, a pet bed and treats, we never got any of those as I assumed they would have been in the room or the man who hurried me through check in would have mentioned it but I didn't ask either. We relaxed in the room before our dinner reservations and it was peaceful. The bed is very comfortable. We also were able to take our dog for a walk around the city. There isn't a ton of grassy areas but we found one not far that was perfect. We went to dinner at Madams which was an amazing experience. The food was fantastic, the drinks were great and everyone was so friendly. We then went to the event which was a blast. We slept well through the night and were happy to sleep in as check out isn't until noon. We didn't get breakfast this time, but absolutely next time if we come again. A luggage carrier was brought to our room and they filled it up and took it downstairs for us. They also took our valet tag and got our car pulled up and loaded for us. They called when it was ready and we truly appreciated that. Although there was some things I wasn't particularly found of as mentioned above, it truly was still a 5 star experience. I'm mostly appreciative of how kind everyone was and allowing us to have our baby boy with us. I definitely recommend staying here with or without your furbaby. It's a great experience and I'm sure if I would have voiced my concerns better, they would have handled it. The location of the hotel is great too and the ease of valet is even better. Thanks, Daxton!

Yelp
Catina at the lobby bar was the worst, rudest, most disrespectful bartender i've ever encountered in my life. I have absolutely no idea how she was hired in a customer service position especially at an establishment like the Daxton. I've been coming there for years and I've always been treated amazing by all of the staff and she completely ruined my entire experience. If you happen to go there and get her as your bartender, make sure you ask for a different bartender unless you want to be talked down on.

Yelp
I unfortunately would not recommend. I used this hotel as a wedding room block and gave them business. I had 5 welcome bags to give my guests and they never mentioned a charge. They contacted me post wedding to try to collect money from me for giving the guests a wedding box when checking in. Literal insanity. The Townsend did no such thing, I would recommend them 2000x more.

Yelp
We went to the hotel lobby bar for drinks after dinner on Saturday night, and it was pretty perfect. Packed, so slow table service, but you could always just walk up to the bar. Very cozy chic ambiance - a great place to sip and have a conversation. I had the Birmingham Bubble, which is like a purple French 75, and it was lovely. If I lived in Birmingham, I'm sure I'd visit often as it has an upscale neighborhood vibe - a place to see and be seen.

Yelp
Find upscale space with a modern and chic look. The rooms are nice and well designed. The bathroom setup is great for grabbing that perfect selfie and getting ready for it too. There's a sit down vanity mirror and counter space that can be closed off from the rest of the bathroom, perfect for when you have a partner to get ready with or if you're trying to keep the humidity low in the room after showering. The staff was really helpful and accommodating. There were some issues with my company's pre-organized ride to the airport, but the staff assisted me and were very helpful. Also this is a small thing that goes a long way, but everyone there was super helpful and friendly and always trying to anticipate my needs, opening doors, pressing the floor bottom on the elevator, grabbing coffee for me in the morning, and even the bell attendant taking the trash out of my hands.

Yelp
W O R S T S E R V I C E zero stars!!! absolutely positively ridiculous! been calling for over an hour. No answer! No one at the front desk, no one in the restaurant, no one at all? This is not acceptable on any level. The Townsend hotel will answer immediately. The Ritz Carlton answers WITHOUT question- wouldn't let my cat stay here..

Yelp
We had a fun evening at the lobby bar here! I'm surprised by how much I liked everything, especially the vibe. A swanky hotel is much needed downtown Bham I ordered the "Parental Control" (my favorite) and "The Madame" and from the food menu: the Socca, (a whipped feta dip with chickpea bread) and the mushroom dumplings. Everything's presented with such detail and beauty. And my favorite touch: a small plate of cheese stuffed olives and fancy nuts presented with your cocktail. (That little thing goes a long way since almost no other place nearby offers similar) Bringing my mother back in a few days to enjoy it and try a few lore things. Tip: sit at the bar instead of the restaurant- you have full menu service plus the lounge menu as well. (Not available inside restaurant)

Yelp
Avoid using the directions from Yelp, it takes you to Pontiac. It's south of Quarton / Big Beaver or 16 Mile road. The directions need to be clearly spelled out on Apple Maps to find this place. We hung out in the lobby bar and ate at Madam. It's located in the main lobby of the hotel. They are open until 2:30PM today, back open after 5PM for dinner. Reservations are fully booked until 7PM online. Bar area is open some and has a full menu at least. It's located inside of the Daxton hotel, on the corner of brown and old south Woodward. Seated at the open hexagonal igloo bar in the lobby. Ordered the breakfast pastries, a breakfast sandwich with the chicken sausage, a crispy chicken sandwich. The caramel apple eclair was good, it had a nice texture and flavor combination. The sunflower biscuit is super really dry, desert dry. Had to eat the biscuit with some butter, which took a bit to come out. The orange cinnamon roll is also bone dry, not fresh today at all, dry and ready to be made into a French toast even. The frosting is decent. The top was the most edible part, although still bone dry. I see why Elaine was obsessed with the muffin tops now. The first butter ramekin had a single hair encircled around the ramekin top. Had to ask for another one. The eclair was the only pastry worth the price of admission. The crispy chicken was super flavorful, definitely crispy, crusty even, but the crusty crunch was more of a panko, not my favorite. The chicken breast meat was perfectly cooked, but fatty. The milk bread bun was decent. The breakfast sandwich was okay, egg was a nice fluffy square. There's a mechanical gold horse in the main lobby. The lobby is laid out nicely and makes it cozy to hang out for sure. Service was decent at the bar, food was very average to subpar for my expectations here in Bham. Bill was $39.22 for our below average brunch today.

Yelp
I've stayed here numerous times over the year and the service gets worse and worse. They have zero customer service. The owner should read "unreasonable hospitality". The room refrigerator didn't work so they tried swapping it out with a new one but couldn't figure out how to get it back in the cabinet. So they decided just to put it next to the dresser in an already cramped room. Shower towels were ripped. The worse part of the entire stay was the awful breakfast at their new Cafe Dax. Avo toast was average and a small for 20.00. The two eggs breakfast tried to swap salmon for bacon but it couldn't be done even though they were both the same price as a side item. The "homemade" bacon was two pieces...over cooked and dried out. Do yourself a favor an walk north up the street a few blocks to commonwealth. You'll enjoy your 50 breakfast. When checking out no one ask how was you stayed. Most courteous request was do you want your bill emailed. The place is awful. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot options in the area so you my be forced to stay there. Just lower your expectations. And get used to the "oh I'm sorry" response.

Yelp
My experience in this hotel was so awful, it's making me write my first ever Yelp review. I just grabbed a pic off my computer for the profile pic because I was in a hurry, I'm not really a hamster trying to eat a too big Cheez-It. Anyways, I was not staying at this hotel, but I was called by my sister (who was staying there) at 11:30pm to come and rescue her from her room and escort her out of the building. Somebody had been pounding on her door but she, rightly, was afraid to answer it. After the pounding, she got a call from the staff who said they didn't know what the pounding was but they told her she should answer it. This made me furious so I hopped in my car and headed right over. I had her explain the situation to me as I drove over. She reiterated that the first disturbance she had that night was pounding on her door, before any phone call. She also said the clerk told her there was a noise complaint, but her TV wasn't on and she was in her pj's in bed. She hadn't been making noise, she'd been too busy calling my mom because she was freaking out about the harassment from somebody in the hallway. Then came a call from the staff saying somebody wants to adjust her TV. She repeated that the TV was off and it wasn't making any noise. She told me there had been a rowdy party down in the lobby earlier that night and maybe drunk people were messing with her. The staff had created that much panic. Anyways, when I got there, I asked to speak to the manager. He came down and was very adamant that my sister was not telling the truth. Lemme just stress the absolute absurdity and unprofessionalism that I got from this guy. I'm there to aid my sister out of this building because the hotel staff dropped the ball so completely. He was not apologetic to the situation one bit, he very coldly kept the blame on my sister. Eventually I had to be the one to de-escalate the situation and finish getting my sister out of there. The customer is definitely not always right at the Daxton. Or maybe the place is haunted by noisy ghosts [shrug]. Either way, I would advise that you just find a different place to stay.

Yelp
I want to love this hotel, truly I do. The bar is amazing and the decor is perfection itself. However, the hotel service leaves much to be desired. First, our room was NEVER serviced. We left at 9:15, I came back at 2:30, put the 'Please Service' tag on the door AND told the front desk. And by 7:30, beds still unmade and no fresh towels. The air/fan in the room didn't work and I can discount that as mechanical issues can be hard to tackle when someone is staying in the room. But no housekeeping...that's a basic. In fact, I'm still waiting for towels. 8/5/2023, 8:10pm.....

Yelp
This place is Overrated I worked here for roughly 90 days and was dismissed for no reason. In fact I was told that They were moving in a different direction also felt like I wasn't a good fit for what they were looking for which is fine. I believe they need to change Director of rooms because he has issues with others exceeding over him he feels like he's the only person that knows the job. In fact he was a security officer before he even became housekeeper manager, I believe this place would succeed if they change management all the way around will I stay here, probably not they don't have enough supplies and the way they do inventory on ordering is totally something that I have never seen in 33 years of experience when you should have a monthly budget they do a yearly budget

Yelp
Swank? Bwahaha There's no question about the elegance of this new hotel, it's self relevant. You need only to walk through the doors, unto a realization that you 'can never leave'. Decadent and sinful. Welcome to the Daxton! Not only a hotel, but it's also privy to an outstanding chef and a staff deserving of accolades all day long. Bravo!!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! The Daxton Hotel treats you like Royalty. From the moment you step out of the car they are there to make sure your stay is perfect. And it absolutely was! When you check in, they offer you a glass of complimentary champagne. The lobby is gorgeous and warm and welcoming. But also chic and modern. The artwork is outstanding. We spent over an hour just checking out the artwork! The rooms are spacious and there is plenty of room to unpack your clothes. The bathroom was large and the shower was huge and luxurious. The shower and the toilet are in separate rooms so someone can get ready while the other is in their using the toilet or shower. There is also a door to the entire bathroom for additional privacy and a beautiful vanity located outside of the bathroom. They have a complimentary pantry on each floor with free pop, juice, coffee, and other snacks. That was such a great touch! I do wish there was a refrigerator in the room but that truly did not take away from anything. The work out room was super cool. It felt like you were at a local gym! There is a large bar located in the lobby that is separate from their restaurant (which by the way is also incredible!), So you can enjoy a cocktail without going into the restaurant. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful and the signature cocktails were all so delicious! This is gonna be a regular spot for us when we do staycations. We could walk anywhere we wanted to go! And Birmingham has a ton of places within walking distance. Obviously I recommend this hotel. It was expensive but I honestly didn't think it was any more expensive than going to Detroit. It was definitely worth every cent. I didn't want to leave!

Yelp
I do not recommend this hotel to no one they are scammers. We paid the maximum price and we received the lowest services. 1st we were told that the valet parking is included with the room price and they added $30 a night that we were told from tow different people at the hotel "employees" that there's no charge. Wrong information! 2nd we received a baby crib that did not have a mattress for the whole stay and our baby couldn't sleep in for the five days and when we asked them for the mattress they said we don't have it and can't do nothing about it and they advised to use towels instead of the mattress. . 3rd they charged us $50 for one kid's burger and no one knew what is the right price for it. We understand it's a new hotel so we spoke to the manager Zachary to explain our issues there and he told us that's our problem.Really!

Yelp
Great ambiance, friendly staff and solid rooms. If the price ever came down slightly it'd be 5 star for the value but the best around.

Yelp
Very swanky. Probably too swanky for my children, but then again most hotels are... The lobby was packed with people enjoying good food, drinks & each other's company...it reminded me of the days pre pandemic, which was both frightening and exciting. My family of 5 was given a suite on the 4th floor conveniently located to the snack lounge that seemed to be refilled all day long with croissants, cookies, brownies, popcorn, chips & more. The suite had 1 king bed and 1 pullout queen bed. It was probably a little tight for our family of 5, but my daughter ended up rooming with my grandmother down the hall so all worked out perfectly. The staff here was super helpful, especially with my 87 year old grandmother who had to move rooms after the bathroom flooded from the bathtub in her handicap room (no curtain on their bathtub). Johnny who is a University of Michigan student working there for the summer was especially a star. Since I had my kids with me I didn't get to take advantage of the fun lobby, but we did enjoy the central location of this hotel where we could easily walk to so many stores and restaurants. The only other hotel we've stayed in while visiting the area is the Townsend, which is also very nice, but this is newer and swankier.

Yelp
Hip, cool and snd can compete with any Los Ángeles hotel. I booked here because I love luxury and five star service. I'm from L.A and the city girl in me wouldn't want it any other way. Birmingham is a upscale gem that made me feel at home. From my check in (champagne si vous plait...merci) With Jasmine to check out I was well taken care of. Beautiful Instagram worthy lobby with eclectic art and decor. Very impressive. It's pricey, but you can't put a price on confort. The room reminded me of a Art Deco Hollywood inspired room. From the creature confort of a soft comfortable mattress to the duo television sets in the corner room I booked to the properly padded walls that block any outside noise. This hotel sets itself apart from the surrounding hotels. Will continue to use this hotel for all my future stays. Cons: 1. No parking other than valet. $30 for valet or you can park around the corner that's free until July 2021or pay hourly meters. 2. Madam Restaurant has a limited menu. A new menu is needed like stat, like a seasonal menu with local farm fresh food. I ate a pizza that was mediocre at best. I've eaten better pizzas at Trader Joe's. 3. Restaurant service was sub par because our server seemed disinterested and annoyed. Spoke to Rebecca the restaurant manager and she apologized. Horrible first impression. 3. So confused whether they had door men, bellhop or valet I couldn't tell who was who. They all wore black, some greeted some ignored.

Riki S.

Yelp
For an expensive hotel, this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed. It is so poorly run by completely incompetent staff and management. I booked for one week. I ordered morning coffee that just never came, even after calling to refresh the order. The calls don't go to room service, but to a horribly incompetent front desk. Twice I put the sign on the door to have my room cleaned, and neither time was it cleaned. Finally I gave up and didn't have service the remainder of my visit. There was a Nespresso machine in the room with no cups to use with the machine, and a request for some went unanswered. It was just one aggravating incident after another, with nothing ever being resolved. My last day, I emailed the front desk my travel information to print me my boarding pass. The desk clerk said, yes, of course, we'll get that right up to you. It never came, and whenI went to collect it, the person had no idea what I was talking about, and had no idea how to bring a boarding pass. I had to do it myself while she looked on. I will. NEVER stay at this hellhole again.

Yelp
Looking for a spot with really high prices and absolutely no customer service, the Daxton is your place. Check in: You check in at the middle of the bar -- can't hear a thing. Dinner: Tried to order room service at front desk. I would like beer -- Bud Light, don't have that. Heineken? Nope, though both are on the menu. Only beer appears to be Cours and I'm not going there. Oh well, I'll a Chardonnay-- when I get the bill, I see I have paid $27 for a 6-ounce glass of white wine. Total bill $157 for two burgers, one order of fries. Bill included 20-percent tip -- I had not authorized that. Breakfast pastries: Had to order off restaurant menu. Finally arrived at room after 25 minutes -- three pastries on each plate. Hadn't been warmed up. No butter. Pretty dry. $36. Check out: Needed to park out front for a few minutes. Needed to get some change for the meter. Front desk, nope . . . valet guys have some. Valet guys, nope . . . they have change at the bar. At the bar, nope. Nobody at the hotel can cash a $1 bill. Maybe you see a pattern here.

Yelp
I asked for some compensation for the poor service I received during my stay and received no response as promised by the front desk. The front desk said she would get to the manager and again no response. Where is your service that you stand for? Sondra Schwartz

Yelp
Had dinner at Madame at the Daxton last night for the first time. We live in Birmingham and had been looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we possibly had the worst meal in decades. When you enter, the hotel is truly beautiful. Kudos to whoever selected the art and decor. Definitely a "wow" experience. But then there's the crowd at the bar. The noise is overwhelming and you can't get away from it . . . . including in Madame. It got to the point where the waitress had to lean in to tell us about the special features. And then there's the food. There's no way there's a professional chef overseeing the preparation. We started with the mushroom dumplings, which were a combination of being way too overspiced, yet tasteless. A rare feat. My wife ordered the salmon cooked "medium plus." What arrived was charred and overcooked. I ordered the Tagliatelle pasta with lump crab. The sauce was described as "lemon butter." I asked for very light sauce. What arrived was a bowl of pasta slathered in butter sauce (and if there was lemon I couldn't taste it). And there was absolutely no crab in it, and certainly not a "lump." And for the capper (ok, I know I sound like a Midwesterner), it cost $20 to valet park the car. For a moment I thought I was in Los Angeles or London. $20 to valet park a car in Birmingham? OK, back to what's really important . . . the food. I am writing this in the hope that management take this to heart. I want Madame and the Daxton to succeed - it has and should enhance our downtown. But after reading the reviews and then experiencing the venue firsthand, I hope they seriously take stock in their shortcomings or I'm afraid their investment will be a failure. Of course, I'd be happy to buy some of the art at auction.

Yelp
My family stayed at the Daxton over Easter/ Passover weekend. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. Beds are very comfortable. We booked an ADA room and brought my Mother in and it was very comfortable for her as well. The management and staff were top notch. Very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone coming to the Detroit area. This hotel is steps from Downtown Birmingham and all the great shops. Do not miss having a meal at the restaurant. The food is delicious m.

Yelp
Watch your bill for the Hotel & restaurant and bar as they constantly overcharge. Every bill we received had things on it we didn't order.

Yelp
Where to begin. The initial arrival to the hotel was amazing. Great informative and helpful bell staff and front desk. Rooms are small but comfortable and amenities were nice. Where it went down hill: Their morning bartender was so rude it literally ruined our stay. Apparently when we were told by the hostess we could sit and eat at the bar the woman was too involved with condensing the syrups and cleaning the bar and completely intent on ignoring us. Many other small passive aggressive things happened in the following minutes that were so bizarre that we left. It was super awkward how poorly we we were treated. When we came back later she was still working and the bar was busier. We decided to give it another chance...I noticed her making snide comments to what I believe was security on duty in our direction and when she dropped off water in front of us she was so condescending we left..Again! I can only wonder if it's because we're white? Not sure but the entire experience was so off putting we'll never stay there again. When we shared our experiences with neighboring restaurants they all admitted openly they've heard similar stories. Too bad because the hotel staff in general was exceptional. For reference I travel about 200 days a year. We usually stay at the Townsend. We ended up there for most meals. Truly disappointed

Yelp
Surprised by some of the poor reviews. I am pretty particular with my hotel stays and I have to say Daxton brought it. It was one of the better experiences I have had with a hotel in a while. Very friendly staff ( which is hard to come by these days) Valet staff were excellent and always there to open the door for you. Great location in Birmingham. Will be back!

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and dont let the fake luxury fool you. This establishment is run by an immoral, careless and just plain disrespectful staff. We left our do not disturb sign on during an afternoon wedding, not only did they ignore our request, they snooped through all our personal belongings. They rearranged every single item in my girlfriends and my own bag, they even went through and removed both of our dirty undergarments from our bags to leave on the bedroom pillows... creeps. The staff here is trash, we have yet to receive a refund or compensation for any missing items. Our recommendation, STAY AWAY.

Yelp
Keeping up with the Detroit Boutique Hotel scene, Birmingham unveils it's newest gem, The Daxton. I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the Daxton and the hotel's classy high-end restaurant, Madam. Let's just say I made reservations months in advance and a few weeks ago, my friend invited me to a sneak peek tour of the hotel. It is absolutely stunning! The Daxton's art deco design meets the modern era with trendy sophistication. There are so many unique findings throughout the hotel from art, sculptures, and lounge areas dedicated to both the sleek masculine & posh feminine taste. I especially like the grand, geometric bar, greeting patrons upon entry. The layout is unique, unlike anything I've encountered. The hotel offers a variety of room options and an entire floor dedicated to suites. I especially appreciate the made in Detroit merchandise displayed in the lounge areas. Seeing businesses supporting each other brings together unity and community. I'm excited about my upcoming stay and dining experience. Take note, The Daxton has arrived!

Yelp
Good vibes in here. Went on a Friday night and it was a little dead. Drinks were amazing though

Yelp
The bartender asked me what I wanted to drink. I asked for a espresso martini. She literally told me I don't feel like making it. I thought she was kidding, lol she was serious and refused to make it. So then i wanted a Moscow mule and again, she said they are out of the ingredients to make the drink. Really??? Come on Daxton, this is not like B-Ham.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this hotel, unfortunately a few too many things went wrong. The actual hotel is stunning, the photos online do not do it justice. If I was their PR I would rebrand the entire hotel. I stayed in a suite during my stay which was a 10/10 (spacious, clean, new). However the service is horrific. I came with little to no expectations - knowing at the time it was a brand new hotel. Issues: - Multiple phone calls for simple things like water - Room service was wrong 80% of the time - Staff asked for "extra tips" - Overall the staff seemed like they were annoyed with assisting customers - No guest priority in their restaurant/lounge area (this one was especially confusing with the amount of money paid to stay there). If this was a hotel in a major city (NYC/LA/Chicago) they could never survive with the attitude toward their customers. Overall, the stay felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. I couldn't wait to leave. Its truly a shame because the hotel has so much potential, I hope they can get it together.

Yelp
An hour after checking out, I realized that I left my insulin in the fridge. It didn't take long to realize that once you check out, you're dead to this hotel. Three people were going to check on it but no returns calls. The last desk person was rude and dismissive. Apparently, despite the fact that it was in a clear prescription bag, the housekeeper, who rushed us out of the room daily, so she could clean, threw it away. While a very nice hotel, except this maid and front desk person, good luck getting anyone to care about anything once you're gone. This stay was a 5 star until we left the hotel. It degenerated from there.

Yelp
Went in yesterday at 6pm for a few drinks , the lounge was fairly empty . We were waited on by the guy sever with long curly hair and glasses. He served us our first round then vanishes , about an hour later still nothing . 20 mins later we had to go to bar to get our own drinks . I would have been better off just sitting at the bar . Terrible lobby service

Yelp
Never visiting again, very unprofessional way from the front desk. We came from Dubai for a business trip and we were told this hotel is the best in town and it's new. Rooms were acceptable but the front desk lady wasn't really friendly, and it's all about our check out time is noon, while we didn't know that and they said they tried to contact us ( on room phone ) but of course we are not there so probably they didn't see that they have to contact us on our cell phones on files. Anyways, my apologies for this review but if you want to be respected don't stay there, and all of this because the front desk lady, we all felt unwanted. But, the valet people were super good.

Yelp
Nice downtown spot to be. Good service and extremely nice rooms. Here on a business trip so didn't splurge on the room, but felt like I did when I walked in. Pleasantly surprised on all fronts. The food was great, and nice to arrive late the first night and realize on the way to my room that there was a little kitchenette with snacks and water bottles in the fridge to grab for my evening. I'd recommend this place to anyone, especially if you want to stay in a high end place with rooms that offer a lot of bang for the buck.

Yelp
I only went to the bar and let me tell you it was the worst service of my life and the drinks were horrible. They have wine selections with bottles you can get for 20$ at the grocery store yet they are selling them for 20$ a glass. The old fashioned had hardly any alcohol in it and they did not know how to make a gin gimlet. For what you pay to come here they should at least know how to make quality drinks. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL

Yelp
Amazing experience. Went to Michigan for the weekend., man I am lucky to score this Hotel. Newly built boutique hotel. A very happening place., ideally located near cafes restaurants and shopping. Staff was really nice and welcoming. Very close to Cranbrook Garden and Museum. A must go if you are in the area.

Yelp
My first time there last night for a friends Surprise Birthday gathering. The place is Impeccably decorated. Do yourself a favor if your getting yourself a house made cocktail ..... get the Madame! Chris our server was Amazing !! Can't wait to go back again.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for $400 a night and had a terrible experience. One of our rooms had a toilet issue and the person had to be moved. In our room most of the electrical outlets didn't work. We couldn't check in to our room until 6:00pm our first day because it wasn't ready. But the pinnacle of our stay was the last night we were there; the hotel allowed a wedding party on the 5th floor to be extremely loud and obnoxious even though other patrons complained. And I'm talking about complaints at 4:30am - not 1:00am. But the worst of all of this was when I emailed several times to have a manager contact me; not one response. Really awful customer service. Spend your money elsewhere.

Yelp
Great hotel. Beautiful rooms, although a bit small Why 3 stars? My early morning flight left at 8 am, so I had to leave hotel around 6 am But that morning, the hotel couldn't find my rental car that they valeted. I left the hotel for the airport and let them deal with the car. What a mess. Tip: if you're leaving early in the morning, self-park your car on the street. That way you don't need to rely on them The valet doesn't open until late morning and so the front desk person suddenly becomes the valet. This would have be a nice detail for the hotel to make guests aware of. May w at check-in, they ask about departure time and give guests a heads up.

Yelp
Wouldn't even accommodate a breakfast for two people on a slow Sunday morning even when I get there and the place is half empty .2 hr wait like seriously.hostess needs more training to be less stuck up and more friendly

Yelp
A for atmosphere, D-for service. Gorgeous spot, horrible service and menu selection. It took 20 minutes for our server to even approach us, another 40 min for food after we ordered. We ordered blood Mary's which arrived watery, with canned tomato juice. When we asked for any condiments, we were told they would try to "scrape some up" which they never produced.

Yelp
So cool! Soaring space with incredible artworks! Can't wait till I'm back in the area to have drinks on a Thursday night and enjoy the live jazz.

Yelp
This is an art lovers dream hotel! The staff is GREAT The rooms are cozy and reflective!!! I felt like I would be sleeping in an art gallery. The lobby is inviting; perfect for brunch or cocktails The restaurant is ok. The chef creative menu options need more local options for my taste palette. A siimple steak or seafood dish! Overall this hotel is Clean & Welcoming with a wonderful staff Enjoy

Yelp
Stayed here for our wedding on 10/2 - everything was perfect. The staff was super accommodating with every request - from when I booked 18 months ahead of time - all the way to days after the event. Everyone that stayed there couldn't say enough good things about the hotel. 5 stars!

Yelp
Such a cute hotel. The staff was so friendly & accommodating. I'm looking forward to my next stay
