Will Major League Baseball’s New ‘Pitch Clock’ Threaten Ballpark Beer Sales? | Eater Chicago

"At this High-A park, home to the Dayton Dragons, testing the pitch timer produced no negative impact on food sales; staff, fans and ownership reported being pleased, and signature smoked meats remain a draw. Management says fans tend to operate on inning-based routines rather than by the clock, so a quicker pace didn’t disrupt eating and drinking habits, though operational and safety policies (like cutting off alcohol sales to limit drunk driving) still guide concession hours." - Ashok Selvam

Will Major League Baseball’s New ‘Pitch Clock’ Threaten Ballpark Beer Sales? - Eater Chicago

"Over in Dayton, Ohio, where the High-A team affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds play, there haven’t been any effects on food sales, including the Dayton Dragons’ signature smoked meats at Day Air Ballpark." - Ashok Selvam

Google
Took my kids here for a game and we really enjoyed it. Park is nice and clean. Plenty of food to choose from. Everything was very affordable. There is free parking around the park but if you have to pay it's 5 bucks. The most I saw was 10. During the game there was entertainment in between innings and I also loved how the fans were involved some how. We will definitely be back 💚

Google
Great place to spend a few summer nights! There’s plenty of entertainment for both adults and kiddos, lots of stadium food options (if you’re into that), great beer options, including Yellow Springs Brewery, and much more! This is a nice, clean stadium with friendly people, and I highly recommend paying for parking in advance (when you buy your tickets online)! It’ll make everything so much easier.

Google
There was a lot to like about the stadium; lots of food and drink options, nice modern stadium, cheap parking options a short distance away (free parking on the road at weekend) and lots of entertainment away from the game (the autograph alley option at the end of the game was a nice touch). However, I wouldn't recommend section 105 as the view from my seat didn't offer a clear view of home point just the side of a person's head.

I am a fully repeat customer. Carl and the entire team are the best. I usually host in the suites and the food/catering is always excellent. Great drinks and service. I will be back....as always.

Google
Our son's first Dragons game was a great success! We had the best time. It's affordable, the food is good & we love that every inning is interactive. This is a great place for kids. The staff are so friendly! My son got his first game certificate & a hat. Looking forward to many more games!

Google
I love going to a Dragons game! Win or lose, it's a fun time! The stadium always seems packed so you get the crowd feel everytime. Lots of crowd interactions so the fans can get involved. They also make sure of your safety and have a net in place to prevent injuries as best as they can. It is always a great time and would definitely recommend going if you're into baseball!

Google
The park is great. There is ample parking for the ballpark. The stadium is clean and modern. There are several food vendors available. The sideline entertainment was a nice addition to the game. We had a great time and can't wait to go again.

Google
Went to the Dayton Dragons 25th anniversary game—Reds vs. Prospect Reds—and it was an awesome experience! The energy was electric, the ballpark was packed, and everything was well-organized. Great views, fun crowd, and a perfect way to celebrate 25 years. Can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
I love this the fans are great, the mascots were amazing, and the stadium is pretty cool for a minor league baseball team

Yelp
Very nice ballpark. Clean, fan friendly. This is the current AA ball club for the Reds. Plenty of food and beer booths. Bring an empty bottle and you can fill up at the water station.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere - not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of open areas in the sun or shade to enjoy the game and concessions.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years... If you asked me to rate them back 5-7 years ago, they'd have gotten a solid five star review. I'm in a generous mood, and will add a star for all the collective years, but I think now they're probably closer to three or 3.5 stars. Why the change? It's still a wonderful setting, and a great, economical way to enjoy a night out with family and friends, but over the last few years, "improvements" seem to have led to there being less space for the general public and more "exclusive" areas for "special" groups. I understand that a good bit of their $$ come from special events, but it seems that more and more of their previously "common areas," including a nice outdoor "cafe" next to the bar, are now reserved exclusively for group events. Yes, you come to the game to sit in your seat and watch the game, but other stadiums seem to have to offer if you want to get up, stretch your legs a bit, and explore. Great facility, nevertheless. Not much change over the years as far as food or snacks go. Pricey, but not nearly as much as you'd pay at a Reds game. Lots of fun activities for the kiddos, frequent community outreach events, esp. honoring the military and their families, as well as a yearly beer tasting event, a 5K run (fun!!) and family movie nights. Plenty of nearby parking as well; try to get into town early if possible to snag a good spot. Also, as the area begins to boom, more restaurants and even a great local brewery are right nearby, so the fun can continue after the game. So...... In spite of my earlier whining and complaining, it's still some of the best entertainment Dayton's got to offer. Definitely worth a visit, if you're in the area!!

Yelp
One of the best minor league parks in the country. Great atmosphere without a lot of riff raff. The food and drink options are great, a nice mix of various items throughout the park. Right field to left field is a 5 minute walk through the concourse. There's a reason this place is the gem of Dayton, OH.

Yelp
Attended a Dayton Dragons game here recently. Day Air Ballpark is a very clean and open ballpark. Nice lawn area for watching the games, but was impressed by the other seating arrangements throughout the park. No seat is a bad seat here. Very nice staff and the food options are good and prices very reasonable. Location is great as well!

Yelp
Used to be great place to watch Baseball. Not any more as they plan to put up a cage all around the field. No more getting autographs, no more getting a foul ball tossed to a kid, no more t-shirt shots to start the game, lots less fun. After having season tickets since the club started, this is my last season.

Yelp
Had a great time! Hot dog, brat and popcorn and a few alcoholic beverages! Great service and a fun time!

Yelp
Me and a couple of friends took in a Dayton Dragons playoff game. The field very nice. The crowd a bit smaller which made it so much better. There really isn't a bad seat anywhere in this stadium. We were seated directly behind home plate, fantastic seats. The only bad thing I can say was they lot, but other than that it was awesome.

Yelp
A fun field. The stadium is located near several restaurants. The seats are comfortable with good sight lines. I suspect that the radar gun operator has a home team bias. The pitches thrown by Dragon's pitchers seemed to have faster reported pitch speeds. I will return.

Yelp
As far as minor league parks go, this is one of the most comfortable without a doubt. All the seats outside of the suites in the second level are along the first and third baselines and through the home plate area. They have a shallow slope and no obstructed views. A higher end seat retails for $6 while you can reserve standing room entrance in the right field grass area for $4. There's food everywhere! There are a variety of sausages, franks, fried chicken, and beers to choose -although none of these items are as reasonably priced as the tickets for entrance. The concourses are open but somewhat narrow which can feel a little cramped, but their open air nature is very comfortable climate wise for summer nights in Dayton. Go Dragons!

Yelp
My family and I love baseball and Dragons games are no exceptions. I haven't really had a bad seat in this place in the 10 years we've been coming to the stadium. I do prefer actual seats vs the grass just because when it rains it gets super wet and you can't sit. Prices for food and drinks are really affordable. Parking prices are great too. They have a lot of great family fun and entertainment.

Yelp
Fun time with minor league baseball. Good to go with a large group or just a few people. Excellent location near downtown Dayton. Clean bathrooms good stadium food. Dragons on Score board let out smoke. Only downside is hard to get tickets in the seats you want when you want.... But that's cause it's a great venue.

Yelp
Fifth Third Field is home for the Dayton Dragons, the A Minor League team of the Cincinnati Reds. A ticket for the Dayton Dragons is one of the ten toughest sports ticket to obtain in the nation. The facility is beautiful and well kept. A night at Fifth Third Field with the Dayton Dragons is a good night to be had by all. Bring a little extra money for food (at Major League prices). Great family atmosphere. A real plus for the Dayton communities.

Yelp
The stadium is pretty cozy, not too big and just in the right size! The lay out is great as well, we found our way in no time! Good sound system and many food options and beer. Try eating and drinking before you get there. Food is expansive! Hot dogs: $4, pop: $3.50, Beer: $6 When the game is over, try to get out as soon as you can before it gets crowded. Also be careful of other cars in the parking structure since most of the crowed is tipsy. Gooooooooooooooooooo DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Fifth Third Field the home for the Dayton Dragons, I attended Saturday nights game, as my parents secured tickets from a group my Dad is a member of - nice walking around the stadium, but it was hot, humid Saturday night. They have a variety of food options - tons of people in line for the gourmet nachos, bowl - everyone loves some Mexican don't they During a previous visit they had an air conditioned bar by 1st base, the bar is still there, but now is run by Milano's is open and not ice cold as in previous visits as I have asthma it was nice stopping in there, but the only cold place I could find for a break was the team store. They do give you free water & ice for your empty water bottle, which I filled several times throughout the game. The best beer value is getting Yuengling on draft you receive a pretty nice pour for $6.75. The Milano's craft beer is $7, which is a lot cheaper than the Reds Great American where craft is $9 and $13 for large. Fifth Third Field is a great venue for baseball game and family outing on a summer night.

Yelp
Went on a trip to Dayton and was invited to a Dayton Dragons game at the park. What a great park! My host forgot to put me on the will call list, and the ticket agent went on foot to find out if I was supposed to be on the will call list and sure enough, shows up a couple minutes later with a ticket. Now that's service! The ballpark almost felt like a big league park just in smaller form! Great food....lots of places to buy team merchandise. Big ol' jumbotron. Kinda feels like Dayton has their own big league team. Loved it!!

Yelp
I love Minor League Baseball, and with the Dragons selling out for the last 815 straight you know you are in for one amazing night in Dayton! I have been to Minor League games before, but none compare to the excitement of the crowd and the level of the stunts and entertainment between innings. We went with a group of 4 and were able to find some free parking just a few blocks away on the street, right along the river. The game was a blast and the team was actually very good. I could not believe how many people were there and they were all decked out in Green (note to self, that is the teams color so dig around and find something green). In between each inning their was a kid running laps around the bases, or a dance off with two guys wearing fairy costumes. I will tell you that the prices for food and beer are about the same for a Reds Game, but the tickets are much, much cheaper. It was a lighthearted, hilarious night that had all of us exited to get back to another game!

Yelp
I've always said this a great place to come and hang with friends or family on a summer night in Dayton. Dragons games are super family friendly. The staff is helpful. The ballpark food is good and the pop and beer are cold. They have fun in between innings activities/entertainment which kids of all ages enjoy.

Yelp
Stadium is very clean. The staff is very friendly. We recently went to a ball game there. Ticket sales window didn't have a line. Ticket scanners were friendly, and efficient. Didn't just scan and rush you. Stadium is very clean. Prices on food are great. No price gouging noted anywhere. Food was very good. They have the traditional stadium food but also have a few home grown concoctions going on too. Lawn area is clean and dry with grass no dirt. Ushers were very friendly and helpful. Always would smile or say hi.

Yelp
Awesome place to take a family, a date, anyone actually! Up close and personal baseball experience! Not really a bad seat in the house. Grab a blanket and sit on the lawn for $7 any game you want. Food and drink is pricey but that's expected at any game. Awesome family experience if you take young ones! Make sure someone is paying attention if you sit on the first or third base side! Foul balls come at you a lot faster than you think!

Yelp
Who doesn't love this place? Dayton isn't a megalopolis, but for the size of our city this is a fantastic ball park. If you have ever been to any other AAA ball parks before, this is one of the best. Sometimes they are just a field with dugouts and metal bleachers! I really can't say anything bad about Fifth Third field. Yeah, the food and beer prices are astronomical, but that's the case with any ball park. Either sneak in your own (shhhh) or don't buy anything. Definitely a five-star ballpark.

Chris G.

Yelp
Congratulations to the Dragons and their fans..... 815 consecutive sell-out games. The crowd tonight was pumped and the game was AWSOME! The Dragons win it. Keep it up Dayton, don't let this "Gem" dull.
