Where to Find Outstanding Mexican Food Around D.C.

"DC Corazon looks like it came out of a Lite Brite box. Owner Josefina Darui painted the facade fuscia, splashed the dining room walls with canary yellow and deep ocean blue, and commissioned cocktails in other neon-glow colors. The mole, by contrast, is chocolate-tinged red but just as memorable. Order it on chicken leg or a plate of “mole mignon” with shrimp and a side of soft blue corn tortillas. Customers will also find one of the more intriguing vegetarian tacos around town: jamaica (hibiscus flowers) sauteed in achiote paste for al pastor preparation." - Tierney Plumb, Eater Staff

The D.C. Restaurant Closings to Know, July 2024 - Eater DC

"DC Corazon, a Mexican restaurant, served its last meal on Sunday, July 15. The venue was known for its authentic Mexican cuisine including tableside guacamole and mole dishes, and was decorated with artistic elements reflecting its name." - Tierney Plumb

Where to Find Terrific Tacos Around D.C.

"Modeled after the mom-and-pop shops in Mexico City known as fondas, DC Corazon offers meaty tacos as well as all sorts of interesting options for vegetarians like fried avocado, huitlacoche (corn fungus), nopales (cactus), or hibiscus flowers sauteed in achiote paste." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin

Mixed outcomes on the food, friendly and attentive service, and colorful decor provide an ultimately positive experience here. I started with the adorably petite small portion of the queso fundido with chunks of chorizo, poblano peppers and mushrooms. It was delicious, probably the favorite part of my meal. I tried tres tacos and the shrimp with a creamy sauce was the highlight. The barbacoa was a little bland and benefited from the smoky orange salsa. The chicken mole was also a bit underwhelming, could have used more tender chicken and more mole. I also tried a guava margarita and it was well balanced, not too sweet. I sat on the patio and while it has suffered a bit from the elements, it was a really nice experience overall. Pretty average for DC Mexican food, but there were enough highlights with the food to merit a potential return visit for brunch.

We came here for a weekend lunch. There were only three other tables at that moment, but it took forever for the staff to take our order, serve dishes and process the checkout bill… and they even forgot to fulfill some of our requests. The food was a bit mediocre - the corn was not very delicious and didn’t worth the price at all ($7.5ish). The enchiladas mole verdes, guacamole and sopa birria were all just okay. The only highlight was churros - it’s pretty good, but one of the churro was undercooked in the middle. Overall, I might not consider coming back if they don’t improve the speed to take orders and serve dishes… It definitely has a pretty nice outdoor seating tho! (Follow me on IG ➡️ miss_dawang)

Google
Friendly, efficient service with unique, delicious food. Absolutely the best margaritas I’ve ever had!! Classic margarita with the essence of fruit without being syrupy sweet. So good! We tried watermelon, strawberry & tamarind. All great! The Queso Fundido appetizer was delicious! The Burris quesadilla so good! The red mole very flavorful. Overall a very nice evening!!

Google
Friendliness and passion of service staff is off the charts! Drinks were strong but flavorful. We checked out mostly their tacos, so can’t speak to everything on their menu but flavors didn’t match some of the more traditional Mexican places in this area of 14th St. The blue corn tortillas were good and were unique. Seating is socially distant with 8-10 4 seater tables outdoor under a roof. ig: @harshaeats

D.C. Corazon tiene mi corazón ❤️ As a Mexican-American who moved to DC from Texas, it’s been a miserable two year journey of trying to find a “Mexican restaurant” that actually serves authentic Mexican food. I’m happy to have found DC corazon last week, where my partner and I tried their tacos, chicken mole, and carne asada huarache. Today we ordered similar items and added elote into the mix as well as their cheese quesadilla. All I can say is that I’m glad to have a piece of home in DC now. The drinks are also incredible, so make sure you get your serving of both food and drinks when you visit.

Google
The decor is lovely! I got huitlacoche tacos (3 for $11). Funny story—I am taking an infectious diseases class at school and we talked about how huitlacoche is a corn smut fungus. I was so intrigued and decided to do a poster presentation on it. And then of course I had to buy it and try! The tacos are definitely on the smaller side. I ordered them to go. This was my first time trying huitlacoche and I liked it! It tastes squishy and salty (but in a good way). I wouldn’t say it tastes like a traditional mushroom though. Anyway, I recommend!

Google
Simply put, EAT HERE. I frequent this local restaurant. The staff is friendly, the interior design is attractive (take those selfies), and your fur babies are welcomed. All that aside, it has been exciting to see the menu develop. I’ve had about half of the dishes and all the tacos. If you like big portions, go for the main dishes. The arranchera de carne asada is phenomenal. I recommend the pollo en molé rojo, sope de carnitas, the enchiladas, cóctel de pulpo. For desert, the pastel de maíz was spectacular. You won’t go wrong, come with an open mind and an appetite. I love nice strong drinks and I definitely got that. I look forward to what else they will introduce, I have some suggestions ha ha. I welcome and recommend this as a Mexican and foodie.

Google
Best authentic green mole we have tried in USA. Real tamarind pulp in your margarita, many ratatouille moments here for sure! Do not miss the churros

Yelp
My friends and I recently went here for brunch and they had a very affordable brunch menu, $14.99 deals and you could choose from a lot of options, like a breakfast taco platter, carne asada and eggs or huevos rancheros. Tortillas were so good. Didn't get drinks this time but they were very affordable at $5-7. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the restaurant itself is gorgeous inside with plenty of colorful decorations. It looks like it's a good space for everything from casual outings to celebrations. Some of the food is heart shaped, living up to its name, and I love that attention to detail. Service was good too. This resto now has a spot in my heart!

Yelp
My friends were in town to celebrate Valentine's Day . We made reservations here to check out a Mexican place that we haven't been to before. 5/5 for ambiance. Lots of amazing art work and very picturesque. We took some great pics post dinner. 5/5 for food. We ordered carnitas taco, berria tacos with chicken and veggie tacos. They were all very good. Absolutely loved the tacos. Base was made with wheat or something. It was so delicious. Chicken and pork were cooked to perfection and the berria sauce dip was so flavorful. For dessert, we tried their tres leches. One of the favorite desserts of all time. So delicious. 4/5 for service. Wish the server looked more enthusiastic on a special night such as valentines night. We asked for food recommendations and drink recommendations, but didn't feel the vibe from the server. Slightly disappointed. But never know what they are going through. Anyways, we had a lovely dinner. Glad my friends liked it too. There were some parking spots on the street. Slightly sketchy area as when we walked back to our car, we saw a footage of Tesla cam where a couple of guys tried to break into our car. Very scary.

Yelp
Loved this place! Being from Mexico City / San Diego has made me very picky with Mexican food but I have to say this place made me feel right at home. From the incredibly warm and welcoming staff to the refreshing drinks (I got a mezcal drink with nopal juice), food (the pink mole was a revelation) and decor, I would absolutely recommend this place to any DC locals or visitors. Gracias, DC Corazon for your hospitality!

Yelp
AMAZING!! I got the salad and my fiance got the tacos. The salad was one of the best over ever had. It was a grilled salad (which made it taste like a fajita!) and hit the spot. It was recommended by our super nice server so that was nice of him! My fiance said the tacos were amazing too. We also got some cocktails which were strong and very tasty! They didn't give complimentary chips and salsa though :( overall has a very casual vibe and is great to come with friends!

Yelp
The food here is really good with great flavors. The quality is just enough for your tastebuds. The service was slow as the person taking the order took a long time even when there was not many customers. The wall art and the interiors of the place felt very cozy and nice.

Yelp
What a great little find in DC. After walking miles enjoying the cherry blossoms , it was a treat to get such great food. We were so hungry that we made the mistake of stuffing ourselves with the chips and salsa as it came. The dip was a thick and spicy salsa... so good. My hubby got the salmon con mole and I got the mignon con mole. The mole sauce was so good , we would have drank it like a soup, which my hubby did and I couldn't coz I was so full. It was delicious. The filet was cooked perfectly to my liking . Kiddo 1 got the taco chicken tenga , which is liked , but kiddo 2 got the quesadilla alambra that was the winner. The mole dishes came with perfectly cooked Spanish rice. And I tried the guava margarita coz someone else had recommended it. It was delicious! The decor at this place is so beautiful and unique. The staff was nice and attentive and service was quick. Prices were reasonable and quantity was sufficient. The tres leches cake was icing on the top!

Yelp
My husband and I had a late lunch here with our dog. We appreciate any place that is dog friendly. We love bringing him along. Food was pretty good! Some items were exceptional, others not so great. Service however was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful. Food arrived quickly as well. We sat outside and it was beautiful out. Nice and quite, friendly tables around us. Wish we lived closer! We would definitely visit again. Definitely try the margaritas!

Yelp
This restaurant has got to be paying for 5 star reviews. I went in expecting to enjoy my food, but I was disappointed in the quality and the skimpy portions. The server was very accommodating, so at least the customer service was solid. I ordered esquite and was shocked that I was served CANNED CORN in a shallow dish. There was hardly any crema or cheese and no lime at all. I didn't finish it. Then I had 3 tacos for $11, and they were small enough to fit into my palm. To make it worse, they came out luke warm and were bland af. My side of flavorless black beans tasted canned too! I won't be going back.

Yelp
Party Time! If you are looking for a place to hold a gathering, I have a recommendation for you! Want a casual and tasty dinner at a small business with heart? This is the place. DC Corazon was my pick for a retirement part and I'm so glad I found Josefina, who gave me samples, worked with me on the menu, had her staff decorate the already-welcoming restaurant, hand out drink tokens, bring out cake, customize a piñata, and more! They do not use lard in the tamales, nor gluten in the many snacks with corn-based dough or tortillas; they labeled items with the meat or veg, offered both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The food was fresh and tasty. The staff was very present, taking care of the guests and observing to see what was needed before we could even ask. In a city with many competing party venues, DC Corazon was truly full of corazon, heart, and I am overwhelming thankful for the personal and warm attention to our gathering. We had a BLAST! P.S. Dinner for a family or for two is also nice here! Inside or outside: - olla coffee in the cold, icy margaritas on the patio in 95 degree weather!!

Yelp
I love how colorful this spot is. It definitely stands out on a busy street. The murals inside were amazing! We came here for brunch and want to return again for dinner. There were so many choices of mimosas. They got you covered! The breakfast tacos were 10/10! The customer service was some of the best I've experienced anywhere. The chef even came out to speak to us and gave us samples of their three mole sauces and one of their cocktails. Try this spot out for yourself. You'll thank me later. Yelp
Still amazing, Mexican food. Went there this week and had the guacamole, an incredible pozole soup, enchiladas, and tacos... all excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a priceless spot. The staff is so warm and welcoming. Sit at the bar if you can. The drinks are fantastic, the food is right out of a Mexico City kitchen on a Saturday night. The posole almost made me cry, it was absolutely perfect. If you're aware of what flavors taste like after being slowly developed, you'll love this place. The decor also reminds me of someone's kitchen. Beautiful, colorful, but unpretentious and comfortable.

Yelp
Excellent! I especially loved the decor and ambiance. I felt like I was in Mexico City! The service was so nice too. For drinks I tried the guava margarita (contained fresh guava juice) and that was delicious! The food I tried that was all a 10/10 included the plain corn (best corn ever), hongos taco, arracheras, beans and rice, and chicken tamal. The food I tried that I probably wouldn't get again included the salmon burger (a bit too fishy tasting for my taste) and chicken tinga taco. For dessert we had the churros, which were probably the best churros I've had in my life! All in all, such a yummy meal and highly recommend it!

Yelp
Great spot on upper 14th st for tacos and more! They've got a big menu and pretty fast service. The vegetarian and vegan options are on point--I recommend the nopales and deep-fried avocado tacos. And the chips & salsa are only $2! The guac is much pricier. Also, this is one of the rare places in DC that has a great brunch (including cocktails) but doesn't get overcrowded or too loud. You can make a reservation online but you probably won't need it. Plus, I appreciate all the outdoor seating out front for anyone Covid-conscious!
google avatar

Camsie M.

Yelp
How have I not been here before?!? The space is beautiful - painted with murals and decorated with joy and bright colors. The food was incredible - they make their own tortillas and everything was fresh and tasty. The owner was in the restaurant and she was so nice. We ordered a ton of food both on and off the happy hour menu. We will 100% be back!

Michael P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the tacos and margaritas. The outdoor seating option was another bonus on a nice day.

Yelp
I just loved everything about this place. When you walk in, it feels like you stepped into a portal to a magical sanctuary. Good vibes from the jump. The food matches this, with authentic Mexican cuisine and plenty of options to cater to people with dietary restrictions. The service was also amazing, as the servers were very kind and accommodating and made sure we felt very welcomed and comfortable. I will definitely be back here and I recommend it very highly.

Yelp
Delicious enchilada de mole rojo. Quick service and great atmosphere. Cute covered patio to for warm days.

Yelp
We used to love this place but had a miserable experience here tonight. I made a reservation ahead of time for our group of 8. Service was slow but also server misunderstood an order and blamed my out of town guest. They also seemed unwelcoming of the 4 children in our party. Sad to see a once lovely place slide so far down. Still embarressed to have brought our visirors here. Unacceptable behavior of our server to out guest. We ordered another round of drinks that never came. Lost revenue to the establishment based on the poor service of staff.

April N.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant up the street! Great food, great drinks and excellent service and vibe!

Yelp
We were looking for a place for tacos and we found a good spot! Margaritas where really good and if you go during brunch hours they are $7! Tacos were amazing! They are little but so tasty! Our server recommended the sudadero tacos and we are so glad we did cause we got 6 of those! Meat was super tender, juicy, delicious! We also ordered churros (they where gone before I got a photo), they are what I consider the OG's of my childhood they have the caramel inside and give you an extra side for extra dipping

Yelp
Had the opportunity to eat at Corazon DC. I ordered the Mole Enchiladas. The sauce was homemade and had the right degree of spice. The beans and rice were fresh made and hit the spot. The chips had homemade salsas that also were good. The owner actually talked to to me about joy they make the mole and the different ingredients. I al very pick with mole se my grandmothers was the only one I would eat. I happily give 5 stars to the establishment and will back again to try other plates.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Really good, inexpensive, authentic Mexican food. Happy hour prices are especially cheap!

Yelp
We stopped in to DC Corazon this afternoon in the middle of a taco walk, and were blown away. It was our 3rd stop for the day and the best restaurant out of all of them. We tried several tacos and they were all amazing -- cute tortillas, great flavors, and the perfect size. The vibes both inside and outside were immaculate and the service was friendly and attentive. I'll 100% be returning. They gave us a digestive, which was a nice way to end the meal!

Yelp
Had a nice dinner here last weekend with a friend. We sat outside on the patio, which was busy. We were immediately greeted from when we walked in and once seated. To start, I got the chili-Rita drink and we got the queso dip with chorizo to share. Here's where my complaint comes in. We informed the server we had never been and asked what appetizers he recommended. We decided to go for the queso with added chorizo and he then asked if we wanted the small or large. We said I guess small, since we were also ordering meals. The small queso isn't just small, it's tiny! It is barely personal size. It's literally maybe one actual serving. When we saw it we were very disappointed and confused why he wouldn't let us know how tiny it was when we expressed we had never been and wanted to share an app. The queso was delicious but it was so tiny neither of us could really enjoy it. We basically took very tiny pieces with a piece of the tortillas to try. I am confused why it's on the menu as an appetizer given its size. So fair warning, if it's more than one person get the large!! The chili-Rita was very good and spicy. I love mezcal and spicy drinks so it was just right. For dinner, I ordered the mole enchiladas with carnitas. And my friend got three tacos (fish, shrimp, and chicken). We both enjoyed our meals. The mole was very good with the subtle chocolate under tone. My friend also liked her tacos. Another warning, the 3 tacos for $11 is only if you get three of the same tacos apparently. Which again, we didn't realize until the bill came. This seems odd and and should definitely be made more clear on the menu and when ordering. However, we did enjoy our visit. The atmosphere was cool, the service was overall good, and we liked our meals. I would come again.

Yelp
Lovely, inviting, friendly neighborhood spot -- a true gem I would never have found were it not --once again--for Yelp. It felt like being in the a family dining room. I can't wait to return to try more menu items. Chips and salsa came with a non-spicy green (perhaps tomatillo?) and a spicy yet creamy red Chile sauce. The chips were perfectly fried and nicely crispy without being oily. I had the tamarind cocktail which was packed full of cinnamon with a nice punch of tamarind. The mole verde enchiladas with pork (the menu lists pork tenderloin but they didn't have that available and substituted carnitas instead) were off the chain. The sauce was super flavorful yet very fresh, perfect with the tender and succulent carnitas, with great tortillas, rice, and black beans. It's among the best enchiladas I've ever had. I hope the restaurant adds the carnitas option to the menu because it's a winner! My lunch date had the chicken quesadillas which were good but more standard fare. Service was attentive and friendly, and it was clear that the folks here are rightfully proud of their food and eager to share it with their diners.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Literally better than oyamel. If you want to support a good family business where they will treat you with respect come here! I got 4 tacos, they informed me they didn't have lengua and asked me questions of what I liked so they could suggest another taco option for me. LOVED THAT! My 2 year old ate everything! Punished his quesadilla....he normally is so picky. I will be back here again. Before I end this review let me just say the drinks are STRONG. I had the illegal margarita and it felt illegal for it to be that strong ahaha. Will deff be back here again!!!

Yelp
Went here just to get churros and they were amazing. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent birria tacos, the queso in the beginning tho was not a melted cheese dip but a partially melted glob of cheese.. i just broke it up and put it on my tacos. Place is cute, service is straight forward and efficient. Drinks are big, but i do wish my jalapeno margarita was spicy.. if i come back i would try other offerings.. not rushing back either.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely place with some of the warmest staff I've ever met. They changed the sun blocking shade for us just to make sure we sit in the cool shade. Everything was made with love and care, and a lot of the details from the Frida table cloth to the rustic coffee mugs really recreated an illusion of dining in the open in Mexico. The mole sauce was amazing, not to sweet or thick, just complex enough to linger with a thick nutty chocolate fragrance afterwards. The meats wete juicy and tender. The tortillas chewy. The dessert was fresh and tasted homemade. A place I'd lovely to come back to!
google avatar

Denice L.

Yelp
Traveling in DC and found this spot on Yelp so of course we stopped by. Weather was great so we sat outside and ordered margaritas and they were not watered down or just filled with mixer. The service was great and our party of four enjoyed the meal. If I'm DC again we will definitely stop by again for good food and drinks.

Yelp
I really liked DC Corazon! I live nearby and finally went in for brunch on a Sunday. It was quiet--we were the only two people inside--but it was lovely. The interior is FANTASTIC! So colorful and unique. They have a lot of brunch options. I got the Huevos Encobijados plus an elote (why not?) and my friend got carne asada and eggs. My eggs and tortillas were tasty but I wanted a bit more of a kick, and I loved the elote. My friend liked her steak but the eggs were really salty. I would like to come back for dinner and try things out, see how it stands out from the other Mexican restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Service was really friendly!
google avatar

Rebia B.

Yelp
It's a no for me. Started w/ the Elote Corazon, which is corn on the cob with crema cheese and asked for it off the cob. He bought be a watery corn dish. Not sure what happened there. We also got the Beef Tinga quesadilla which was dry and didn't have enough filling. The Pollo Con Mole didn't have any flavor. It was just kinda sweet. I asked for some hot sauce and sour cream and they brought a tablespoon of each for which they charged $1/sauce. Wanted to like this place because the waiter was very nice, prices were decent and they allowed our dog to join us on the patio but the food just wasn't flavorful.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We were in mood for some good Mexican food, found this place, tried it and now it's our most favorite Mexican restaurant in DC area. Food was fresh, tasty, visually appealing and unique. Drinks were delectable. Churros were to die for!!!! Not to mention service. Great personable host and chef. Chef came out yo chat with us too.

Yelp
I brought my husband here on Father's Day. We arrived when they opened at 11 on a Sunday; It was not at all crowded, but the location was terrible: roads, parking, neighborhood it was all awful. Food was pretty good but the service was awkward. The multiple servers couldn't communicate with us and acted like they knew what we said but due to us asking and saying the same things over and over we realized they didn't know what we were saying. I need to brush up on my Spanish, I don't expect everyone to learn multiple languages if I don't but it was a factor for us having an awkward experience. The restaurant was clean and super cute!
google avatar

Libbie B.

Yelp
Delicious food, and I loved the mellow tasting tequila flights. Since it's called "DC Heart", it's perfect for Valentines day or a romantic date. We both had the enchiladas verdes, and I loved the vegetarian option. Very flavorful. Beware; the jalapeño margaritas are HOT!!!!
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
This spot is perfect for those looking for homemade authentic Latino cuisine! The inside is small but they have a large outdoor patio (has coverage). It's very bright and colorful from the decor to the seating to the food plating. We ordered Chips & Guac Arracheras (steak) Enchilada Verdes (chicken) Taco Tuesday Deal $9.99 (Al pastor, Pescado Frito, Carne Asada, Beef Tinga) Hibiscus, Mango, Watermelon, and Passion Margaritas Churros All items are homemade and sooo yummy 11/10 You'll find that when you ask for salsa it's not your traditional style. The Owner Josie said it took years to perfect their silky smooth zingy salsa ! Since we sat outside in the heat the Watermelon margarita was super refreshing to enjoy! If you don't bring a fan I highly recommend sitting inside. The service was great as you could see the teamwork mentality the staff carried! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Unfortunately, im not sure I understand the high rating for this place. I guess if you like corn tortillas, maybe... since It's cute and charming but, the corn tortillas for every dish. I just couldn't deal. We tried chips and salsa, the green salsa was ok, the reddish orange salsa was the worst tasting salsa I've ever had. I should've stopped there. But, I also had a veggie quesadilla and my friend had vegetarian tacos. Basic items. Completely missed the mark. My friend was underwhelmed and wasn't a fan of the blue corn tortillas either. However, we both shared an appreciation for the great service. Unfortunately, it's not enough for me to return.

Jazmine P.

Yelp
The food and the service were amazing. My fiancé and I stopped in to take advantage of their happy hour (HURRY IN, it's from 3-7PM). We each had their regular margs which were delish; no premade mix! I tried (3) tacos: Chicken Tinga, Camaron (shrimp) and Pescado Frito (fried fish) and they were full of flavor! We each tried the Elote Corazon and #ChefsKiss! All in all, yummy food and phenomenal service! We will be back!

WOW! How have I not been here before? Being from San Diego, I am always on the lookout for east coast Mexican food that can compare. I heard about this place in the DC Eater and decided to head there for dinner tonight. I will be back! Their guac is incredibly smooth and flavorful - it has the perfect amount of lime and cilantro. Their salsa verde and salsa roja are both made in-house. The roja especially was deliciously creamy and spicy. They have an incredible selection of margaritas. I ordered both the hibiscus and watermelon margaritas and they were delicious. They go down very easy and are STRONG. For my entree, I had the chicken mole enchiladas. I LOVE mole, but some places it is hit or miss. I'm very happy that DC Corazon is a HIT! You can tase the full complexity of the mole, and the house-made tortillas make the dish even better. I highly recommend stopping by, I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Mexican place that charges for chips and salsa! No thanks! Mexican beers like Tecate and Dos Equis are $5.90 each and they don't even bother brining out a beer glass .. just hand you the bottle! Our quest fundido small size $6 was literally two bites! I am Not even kidding. I understand some high end restaurants where it's about quality but for a place that resembles a hole in the wall it was laughable. Enchiladas (three) you cannot customize and had to get all Three in the same sauce only unless paying extra $4! I mean why can't you drizzle them with a different sauce? The servers kept hovering non stop asking if we were done; some basic training can go a long way. We ended up skipping deserts and ended up getting amazing tiramisu and some post dinner drinks at coco restaurant next door. I think the restaurant has decent tacos but the terrible service and overall greed was a big turn off.

Yelp
Cute place in DC for tacos. Service was fast and it was easy to grab a seat, even on a Saturday during their brunch. The pollo con mole and nopales tacos were tasty, probably not the best tacos I've ever had but definitely delicious. Churros were perfectly cooked! Will definitely visit again in the future.

Yelp
We had a party of 12 here for cinco de mayo and we had the most amazing time. We had a late dinner since the place was booked out most of the day, but when we sat down for dinner our service was stellar and the food came out faster for a party of 12 than I've ever had before. Drinks were reasonably priced and well crafted. Best Mexican I've ever had in a great environment.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally went for dinner on a Sunday night. It's a cute spot, and the ambiance is fun. Service was good when we first sat down, but over the course of our meal it became a little unpleasant. We felt like we were being rushed and they wanted us to clear the table. Mind you, the place was empty and there were plenty of tables open so it's not like we were taking up a table. As for the food, we split a carnitas huarache and then I got the shrimp and carne tacos. All three were good but lacked a little flavor. I'd like to come back and try some of their entrees, but likely go elsewhere for tacos.

Yelp
A funky, yet cute spot on not-mainstream 14th--love! Cocktails are a 10/10, and they have a decent list of mezcals and tequilas to try. My friends loved their tacos and rates the tres leches cake as one of the best they've had (win)! Even better than the drinks and food was the service. Wish I got our servers' names but I can't even tell you how patient they were with us, particularly with mezcal suggestions! Not to mention super cute vibes sitting outside last night--really can't go wrong here.

Yelp
This place was a 10. Service, food, ease of getting a table and cleanliness of the restaurant. I was visiting DC from the west coast and we have a lot of chain Mexican restaurants that are so-so. The attention to detail in their decoration and fresh ingredients makes DC Corazon stand out. Also I didn't realize I had made a reservation close to closing time and they never made us feel like we needed to leave. I ordered a watermelon margarita, the chips and guac, fundito and quesadilla. All were amazing!!! Great meal to end our trip.

Yelp
I ordered two pescado frito tacos, a side of guacamole, chips and salsa, beans and rice, and tres leches. The two fish tacos were surprisingly small and didn't come with the jícama slaw that was detailed on the UberEats menu. They came with cabbage slaw which was a disappointment because I love jícama. Additionally, and this could have been due to the delivery time, my fish was soggy and didn't have the crunch of fried fish. Like others have said in their reviews, the salsita was incredibly tiny--maybe one tablespoon in a container so tiny that you can't dip an entire chip in it. I MIGHT try this place for dine-in to see if it's any better--as there were some good flavors in the food.

Yelp
Called the restaurant rightbefore Super Bowl for a last minute catering pan of tacos. The chef graciously accommodated me and gave me great instructions on how to reheat it I wanted. The pick up was seamless and the packaging was top tier. They even included a squeeze bottle for the salsa. The tacos were delicious! Definitely recommend.
