The 12 Best Chicken Wings In America

"WASHINGTON DC Some people act like they’re better than you because they prefer dry-rub wings over ones that are saucy. If you can tolerate spending more than five minutes with these people, bring them to DCity Smokehouse. The smoked wings from this DC BBQ spot have a crispy skin seasoned with their signature blend that’s a little salty and a little sweet. But more importantly for your friend: the sauces come on the side. There’s a wildly good cilantro ranch, but we like their weird (and delicious) mix of Carolina BBQ and mumbo sauce the best. DCity Smokehouse Anacostia - Review - Anacostia - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"When your favorite things get better, that’s something to celebrate. Like when you add ice cream to cake or put chili on your half-smoke. And that’s how we feel about DCity Smokehouse’s Anacostia location. The fast casual spot sticks to what it’s good at: incredible smoked meat. The menu is exactly the same, but the brisket, ribs, wings, and half-smokes they’re serving up are even more tender and juicy than the Bloomingdale originals. And the fries, brussels sprouts, and potato salad all have a little extra crunch to them. Order at the counter before finding a table.photo credit: Nina Palazzolo More than anything, DCity Smokehouse is a welcome addition to the growing Anacostia dining scene—a Black-owned business serving folks high quality food in a historically Black part of town. This DCity Smokehouse is tiny—which makes us sad because between the ‘90s and ‘00s jams and the down-to-earth staff who will belly laugh with you when it’s slow, we would spend whole days here if we could. So if you can find an empty high-top table or a counter seat overlooking Good Hope Road, stay a while. Which also gives you access to endless homemade barbecue sauce and rolls of brown paper towels to clean up said sauce as it drips onto your hands, face, and shirt. The best seats in the house.photo credit: Nina Palazzolo There's a small patio along Good Hope Road for nice days.photo credit: Nina Palazzolo Most people, though, stick around just long enough to leave with bags full of pulled pork, rib tips, collard greens, and hush puppies that will surely need to be eaten with an elastic waistband—or no pants at all. Like younger siblings and athletes coming out of retirement, a second edition doesn’t often live up to the original. But DCity Smokehouse in Anacostia gives us everything the Bloomingdale spot gives, with a little extra flavor, in the food and in the location. Food Rundown Brisket The smoke ring on this bad boy is the kind that the barbecuer in your life will go on about for days, so the smoky flavor is deep and on point. And if that’s not your thing, you can happily stuff your face with this juicy, tender beef and nod along like you care. photo credit: Nina Palazzolo DCity Half Smoke This sausage is thick and topped with brisket, chili, red onions, and mustard, making it the BBQ version of DC’s most famous dish we didn’t know we needed. photo credit: Nina Palazzolo Spiced Fries We mentioned that this location is better than the original. And the fries are one place where that is particularly true. They’re greasy and crunchy, much like a good carryout fry, but topped with a semi-sweet spice mix that we love. photo credit: Nina Palazzolo Brussels Sprouts These crispy sprouts are halves and doused in the same sugary spiced seasoning as the fries, and are just as good. photo credit: Nina Palazzolo Potato Salad The creamy, well-seasoned potato salad is full of chunks of crunchy onion and peppers. While we missed the dash of paprika, we loved that it was firm and chewy." - Tristiaña Hinton

Today I went in and ordered rib tips. Bottom line, the meat was not fresh. I like this establishment, however with the prices charged, I don’t think it’s fair that I get old dry meat. Update: I heated some rib tips in the oven. Drizzled water on them to help moisten. Still bad, tough. Don't palm off old meat please. Some people have compromised immune systems.

I’m seriously impressed. The mac and cheese is creamy and packed with flavor. But that brisket—wow. Just a touch more salt and it would've been perfect!!! Full disclosure: I was supposed to be saving my appetite for dinner with my girlfriend tonight… but here I am, about to have two dinners. Definitely coming back!

I finally ventured into this place. Sean was pleasant and knowledgeable. We discussed food, recipes, and DC life. I ordered chicken wings and fried Brussel Sprouts. This restaurant is great, clean, and the owner is super friendly and gracious. I highly recommend this establishment to tourists, native DC homegrown folks, alike.

Walked in and were greeted immediately. Ordered the ribs and wings combo with the fried brussel sprouts. Received about 6 wings and 3 ribs. If you like smoked meat this was smoked pretty good. Also had the DCity half smoke which is absolutely DELICIOUS!! My husband had the BBQ sandwich (pulled pork) with coleslaw, hush puppies and added another side of fries. This total was about $70. Overall I would recommend this establishment. All the food was good and they weren't busy. I'm not sure if it's because they are new to SE or just the timing that I went. But customer service good, food good and establishment clean.

Man, idk what happened or was it just bad timing. This is NOTHING like the OG location on Fla. Ave. Now, FLAVOR WAS INSANE🔥🔥💯💯but thats all......burnt ends were very much like jerky. Dry and very small. The brisket again FLAVORFUL but DRY....too lean!! I wanted to ENJOY here better than the other but ITS WASNT CLOSE...and also 74 bucks for a meal that wasn't good beyond smell and eating seasoning bark....RIDICULOUS, that was ALOT for 1 meal, a drink and fries!!!😮‍💨🙃🥺

Ordered delivery from here and the wings were missing. The brisket was all fat, see for yourself in the photo. I’ll avoid this place in the future.

With accolades of being among the “best BBQ” spots in the D.C. area, this location in Anacostia is their second in the city. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 12-8 p.m., I picked up takeout around 6 p.m. on a Friday evening. Here’s our experience. 1) Food: The menu is full of items from smoked wings to ribs to pulled pork sandwiches. They also have twelve different sides. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty and has the right ratio of slaw to meat. It comes with BBQ sauce in a small container. The Mac and cheese is good, but wasn’t as spicy as I had hoped considering there are jalapeños in it. The baked beans were great! They are not runny at all, but rather very thick. 2) Drinks: They have a refrigerator with bottles of Coca-Cola. 3) Service: The staff were super friendly and efficient. There are two cash registers and one person who makes the food. 4) Space: There are four high top tables that sit four each and a few stools at the front window. There’s one unisex restroom in the back.
