"Ddong Ggo is a rowdy indoor/outdoor beer garden in Koreatown. Walk into the massive outdoor area any time after 10pm on the weekends, and you’ll find huge groups of friends eating kimchi pancakes, smoking like it’s the 90s, and drinking beer and sake until the wee hours of the morning. Inside, you’ll find an even louder room with tons of TVs and a private karaoke room. The Koreatown drinking scene is vast and a bit overwhelming, but Ddong Ggo is an excellent jumping off point." - brant cox, brett keating
"Hidden along Western Ave. in Koreatown, this jam-packed indoor/outdoor beer garden is a great location for a nonstop party. Expect cheap beer, excellent bar food (like kimchi seafood pancakes and honey fried chicken), and large groups of friends chain-smoking on the patio like it’s a competition. While you might not spend your entire night here, Ddong Ggo is a fantastic place to kick off whatever hijinks you’re planning afterwards." - brant cox, nikko duren
"There are plenty of incredible late-night spots in Koreatown, but the outdoor patio at Ddong Ggo might be our favorite. Walking into this massive beer garden at midnight on a Saturday feels like you’ve stepped into the best party in town. Everyone is drinking pitchers of beer and smoking cigarettes (a lot of cigarettes), and the only time they take a break from either is when a gigantic kimchi pancake hits the table. They’re currently open from 5pm-2am every day except Monday." - brant cox, arden shore, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder
"If you’re reading this guide, it’s probable that you have some sort of one-on-one encounter with a chatterbox who’s done (at least one) form of musical theater and/or improv and has never shut up about it since. Take them to Ddong Ggo, informally the smokiest patio in Los Angeles, a Koreatown bar known for its overflowing ashtrays and towers of Hite beer. There are great bar snacks, like kimchi seafood pancakes and honey fried chicken, and although you might not spend your entire night here, Ddong Ggo is a fantastic place to kick off whatever hijinks you’re planning afterwards." - kat hong
"When we close our eyes at night, we dream of the day we can return to Ddong Ggo’s iconic patio, filled with soju bottles and chain-smoking college kids. Until that happens, we’ll happily do takeout and delivery. The large menu is full of excellent Korean bar food, but we tend to go for the kimchi seafood pancake and honey fried chicken." - brant cox, kat hong
